I would like to tell you it looks nice on the inside but I can't because I haven't seen it and neither should you. Charging 75 Kronas entrance fee is a disgrace. Bear in mind that I do this as a hobby and I can tell you the vast majority of European churches can be seen for free, with very few and usually reasonable exceptions. Though, price *this* high I have never seen. Avoid.

It is the oldest original building in Bergen. It’s open only between 12:00 - 14:00. The decoration is quite sober. It has a beautiful pulpit. There are some frescoes barely visible.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful church and the oldest building in Bergen. Centrally located 5 minutes walk from the promenade. Particular attention should be paid to the entrance gate, especially located in the northern part. Entrance to the church is paid. (Original) Красивая церковь и самое старое здание в Бергене. Расположена в центре в 5 минутах ходьбы от набережной. Особое внимание следует уделить входным воротам, особенно расположенным в северной части. Вход в церковь платный.

Gorgeous intimate church with DEEP history: around 900 years' worth. It is, reportedly, the oldest standing building in Bergen. We went because the local Anglican community celebrates there. We experienced a warm and welcoming congregation. Although the outside is rather large, the interior is smaller and chockablock with layers of history packed in. Take time to slow down and take it all in.

A small but beautiful church with a breath-taking altarpiece. This church also hosts the Bergen International organ festival on Tuesdays from June to August. Definitely worth a visit, especially for a concert.

(Translated by Google) I stumbled upon this church, which, as it turned out, was almost 900 years old! Let her modest appearance not deceive you - the inside is very beautiful. If you are a religious person, then the church will lead you to tenderness. (Original) Случайно наткнулась на эту церковь, которой, как оказалось, почти 900 лет! Пусть вас не обманет ее скромный внешний вид - внутри очень красиво. Если же вы человек религиозный, то церковь приведёт вас в умиление.

Not only Bergen' oldest, but also most beautiful building. After the most recent restauration there is a brighter interior. Also a beautiful setting for a concert, and unlike the other old churches with their torture pews, this church has fairly comfortable chairs.

Beautiful historical church near the harbour. Open for tourists. English sermon on Sunday

  • 5/5 Tim H. 9 months ago on Google
worth a visit since it is the oldest existing church in Bergen; of note: there is an English language Anglican service at 11am each Sunday and the congregation is very welcoming! The church was in the hands of the German Hanseatic league during reformation so somehow it was spared the cleansing of images that many other churches underwent, making it somewhat unique for its flamboyance.

We were in Bergen Sunday September 3, hoping to attend the 11 am service in English. About 50 people waited until 11:30 and the priest never showed and the church remained closed. No explanation. We had talked with a priest the day before who was conducting a wedding who confirmed the time. We never got a chance to see the church.

There is a lot of night in december at Bergen. After some time you get used to the early sunfall and you will discover these beautiful different spots. The old- grey-stoned church holds together its visitors. The lights of the small house invited for a curious knock on the door, I hesitated. Next time.

We had the baptisment of our daughter Laila-Elleni in this church and I loved it because of our priest!!! She was a lovely young woman (if I remember correctly her name was Anna) 💖 she made our day to feel even more special!!! The church is beautiful anyhow because of the story and the feeling that gives you when you are there!!!!!
