A place for tourists, but definitely worth it! Sea urchin (taste quite ok, but ... we don't have to eat them), fish soup (excellent) and whale meat (I ate it, but somehow my conscience bit me all the time).

The Market has a lot of local residents selling sea food, fresh fruits and homemade goods. We saw a few performers in the market which made the shopping a bit entertaining. One thing that I found was unique was whale meat which tasted different but delicious.

I went for outdoor fish market. Variety of food & taste. Its wet & Norwegian price of course. For experience wise try some king crab, seafood platter. We have a nice dinner there. Our sitting just beside the harbour. I believe the outdoor market just open in the summer only.

The fish hall in Bergen. There is everything in fish. Looked fresh and good. Unfortunately there are whales there too <- don't buy! There are several fish restaurants integrated. There is only one real fish market outside on the square. I didn't find out at what times. There is no possibility of taking a salmon roll or something similar with you...

It’s nice experience, lotta fish and seafood to choose from including whales meat. The only reason why I didn’t give it five stars because majority of the food is fry so there is not much options even the grill fish they still use too much oil on the flat grill. And yes very expensive paid over $50 for that small plate.

There is an indoor market all year long. The indoor market is nicely presented and has lots of seating. The fish seemed quite exotic, including the dried haring that are so historically significant to Norway. There are tanks with HUGE crabs and tiny lobsters. Also sea anemone and all sorts of other (to a tourist) exotic creatures. The outdoor market is for the summer only. It is a big dirtier and busier, as you would expect. It also has several eateries with dedicated seating. The outdoor market sells whale fresh and cooked. Whale meat is only sold in a handful of places worldwide. Norway is one of them.

Bergen is one of the most beautiful cities I have had the pleasure of visiting so far. We have been there several times and the fish market is always worth a visit. However, the prices there are tough... even if the food there is fantastic and the selection is really extensive, the prices are really exaggerated.

Norway is covetously protective about its fishing stock. So far they have not been over exploited, and that is the way the Norwegians intend to keep them Brits who like fish and chips, like their cod or haddock from the Norwegian Sea. The rest of the world, including the Med countries, prefer wind dried cod. Maybe it's more culinary versatile this way. Whatever you get used to ? We catch all these species in the Irish Sea, and we sell them at a fraction of these costs. "Fish is only caught once" so you are not going to 'give it away' ! More important, "Cheap fish kills fishermen cheap." I stand looking at these fish stall and I just start to salivate. I can catch them myself at home, but they are never presented like this. In fact, I can't even get Catherine to skin the skate properly !

Freshly cooked fishes, always hot or cold and tasty. I recommend this place as a special treat as it is quite expensive in comparison to other fish and chip shops. However, it is great and nice location too.

Great place to visit if your in Bergen. Right in centre of the harbour. Loads of stalls selling, cooking and serving fresh sea food

The place is high energy until late at night. There are plenty different menu items other than seafood, but if you have the wherewithal, order up a feast of any sea creature you can imagine, from shrimp to whale. It costs extra (and takes longer) to eat on premises, so we grabbed fish and chips to go and pulled up on a park bench five feet from where all the paying customers were sitting.

Cute, short, touristy lane of booths offering fresh seafood at outrageous prices. Dried reindeer sausages, bland seafood paella, beer, beverages, but no wine available. Nice jaunt, but probably better bet to eat at a nearby restaurant where the lobster won't be overcooked.

Bergen's Fish Market is a bustling and vibrant hub that brings the city's maritime character to life. Located near the waterfront, it offers a sensory feast with the sights, sounds, and smells of fresh seafood. The stalls showcase a diverse array of fish, shellfish, and other local delicacies, providing a fantastic opportunity to experience Norway's culinary traditions. The market's lively atmosphere, coupled with the friendly vendors, creates an engaging and authentic experience for both locals and visitors. Whether you're a seafood enthusiast or just curious about Bergen's maritime culture, the Fish Market is a must-visit destination.

Love the fish market. You can get stone crab claws for a reasonable price. Most of the seafood you get here will be fresh and of course they taste amazing. Highly recommend this place to you when you are in Bergen before you step onto your voyager. Enjoy!

Prices are above the roof. Although food is fresh but being myself from Goa I will not call it tasty. May be better better suited for European taste buds.

If you are looking for fresh seafood, and Bergen, this is the place to go. The prices are not cheap so be prepared. Quality of food is outstanding.. with fresh fish tanks to an endless ice bar of fresh fish, shellfish and mollusk.

Great stop on your tour of Bergen. A must see even if just strolling through. Got time for lunch? You’ll find all you need right here. From fish and chips to salmon burgers. Buy fish to take home and prepare or just let them do it and eat in a prepared spot. As the weather changes quickly there is plenty of covered seating for everyone with heaters. There is a great energy in this section of town. Many passing through. Highly recommend a stop here for eating, but bring your wallet it’s not cheap.

Lovely fish market with lots of food options. I had seafood lunch here and bought a set of gift Bergen Caviar … I did enjoy the fish market but quite expensive overall, hence the 4 star.

There is a lot to choose from in terms of sea food and you can also find "national" specialities such as reindeer and whale sausages/salami, but the price is very much tourist oriented (everything is pricier than if you bought it somewhere else).

It was ok not very special, just very expensive in my opinion. They should bring down the costs to encourage more customers to buy food. It was occasionally crowded but rarely any people buying anything due to the high prices.

Wonderful area but very popular with us tourists. The actual fish market is incredible, every fish and shell you could think of - and then fifty more. Don’t forget to go down the alleyways to see the old stores behind.

We initially weren't sure what the covered stalls were from across the road and decided to investigate what was so popular, and discovered several food stalls and fishmongers. It seemed that local people were buying fresh fish and seafood from the fishmongers to take home, while tourists and non-locals were eating at the tables provided - a real mix of everything fish and seafood lovers could wish for. Unfortunately we had already eaten by the time we visited, but will definitely eat there, should we find ourselves in Bergen again!

One of my favorite spots in Bergen. If you love seafood the fish market is an absolute must see and an experience you do not want to miss out on. The lobster, king crab, and salmon are delicious. It is also a great opportunity to try out some different seafood if you are an adventurous eater.

This place offers great fish. However, the prices are astronomical. If you want to enjoy norwegian fish you are better off in a grocery store.

The fish market is located directly at the port of Bergen, 100m from Bryggen. The selection is fantastic, the service is very friendly. The prices are reasonable for Central Europeans, but that applies to all products in Norway. You can get excellent fish in the various restaurants and also have a great place to sit. Unfortunately, the fish market is hopelessly overcrowded at peak times. Nevertheless: definitely go there if you are in Bergen.

Best fish in town. Experts at work who filet the fish or see food you choose fresh. Chefs then prepare that excellent for you. We had the scallops and two different fish with a nice wine (they only serve alcohol after 13:00h). We asked them for advice on the fish and it was superb.

Very warm and cozy place, delightful illuminated with a lot of tiny lights. They sell fish but they also cook it for customers. I've tasted 4 norwegian oysters (pretty good and fresh) and very good baked salmon. Service staff has been gentle and quite quick.

If you want to treat yourself to some excellent food and some good wine, visit this place. The food they serve is the highest quality you can find. We tried the octopus, halibut and the crab legs. Absolutely delicious. Ask for Lucas from Argentina:) he was wonderful.

The Fishmarket is smaller than I had expected. It's right across from the Tourist Information Center. Stalls of fish stands and restaurants behind the stands. Very clean and surprisingly no fishy smell. Vendors were all nice and friendly, not pushy. One vendor actually cut up different pieces of salmon for us to try. There are prepackaged smoked/marinated salmon if you want to bring some home. We were told that it doesn't need refrigeration.

We had a fish and chips from one of the outdoor stalls where you can eat in the tents. Fish was fresh and the batter was light. Fries were so-so, slightly greasy. However, still a nice place to have a bite.

🐟It's not your classic fish market, but more a few restaurants that also sell fish, seafood, sushi and more to go as well as sit in. Quality seemed decent but also a bit overpriced, due to the great location and to the fact that it's advertised in every tourist brochure. Didn't see too many locals there, as you can imagine.

Unfortunately it's under construction at the moment so the outside isn't as appealing, but inside the market is full of varieties of seafood and multiple restaurants to dine at. We ate at Fish Me and had both the soup and whale for dinner and these dishes were some of the best seafood I've ever had. Great central location and ended up walking past it everyday we were there!
