Beautiful architecture and very picturesque. You get the best view of them from a cruise for a beautiful shot although the ships in front do distort the view a bit. Nevertheless it is wonderful. There are local shops inside which are worth a visit. Watch out for the prices though, nothing comes cheap in this city

Bergen is one of the main centers of the Hanseatic League which for hundreds of years managed the trade between Norway and the rest of Europe. Bryggen is the beautiful historic district located on Bergen's waterfront also known as the '' Hanseatic wharf ''. It is made up of a series of 280 multicolored wooden houses all aligned with each other that were once the seat of the merchants of the Hanseatic League. The Bryggen has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. In this district you can also visit the beautiful Hanseatic Museum. From the food and wine point of view, the flagship of Bergen is the well-stocked fish market where you can eat very fresh fish for a low cost. In the various places you can taste the traditional Norwegian dishes, the classic fried and even the whale steak.

Lovely connection with a piece of Norwegian history. Lots of tourists when we went. Guides are also available. You can read more about the place in the tourist info centre. Nice to admire the construction and knowing that the refurbishment must be completed in the old methods. UNESCO World heritage listed if you're into that.

Bergen is a beautiful city and there is a lot to see and do. Bryggen is a must see just for the history and culture. The city and the owners have spent a lot of time and money preserving these beautiful buildings using traditional methods to maintain its facade. Make sure you visit the tourist centre to get a detailed history and Bryggen. Best part is that it is free! Just keep in mind there will be plenty of tourists in the area.

A beautiful area of Bergen. Plenty of shops and places to sit and eat. Nice views of the marina. Small alley ways to wander down and find small shops and bars. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Bergen.

The most visited place in Bergen. Is open air museum of the old pier .A seating of interesting old wood buildings dated 1740 well kept nicely decorated in the original colour. Visiting you will appreciate the way they been built with particularly old wood technology .the area today is partly used as souvenirs shop's, magazine and crafts labs. The place is on more levels with long corridor and interesting store.

The former whaling settlement shows its prettiest side here. The historic houses have been and are being restored. The colors are fresh and colorful, so the tourist center of the city beats faster. In addition to the restaurants and souvenir shops, you can also experience something of what it looked like here over 100 years ago. You just have to pay attention to the information boards. Nowadays, whaling is no longer essential for survival and you shouldn't see the whale sausage on offer at the market opposite as a nice holiday souvenir. It's better to stroll through the narrow streets and take this district with you as a nostalgic holiday memory.

The Bruggen Hansa quarter is one of the more historic places in Norway. Any traveller has to visit it. But the narrow alleys are crowded when folks from cruise ships are visiting Bergen.

A very nice city. The old town is beautiful and the drive up to Fløyen is absolutely worth it. There is always something to see in the harbor.

The ancient Hanseatic city makes you feel as if you were in another time. Small courtyards with great restaurants and small shops offering a wide variety of goods open up between narrow streets and wooden paths. When you take a closer look at the architecture, you really realize how harsh the world must have been back then.

Really need to walk around here, shops in some of the buildings as well, very compact area with lots to see, sloping stairs, etc as you’d expect from old wooden buildings.

This is a great area of Bergen to walk around. It is quite impressive to see the old wooden houses and the red roofs. We deeply enjoyed strolling around the many stores in the area.

This place has such a beautiful vibe and atmosphere! It transports you to another place in time. Just the walk through the small, narrow streets is worth your while. The local art shops, restaurants and small cafes are a bonus. The history behind is unique.

So I wanted to get to the Bryggen embankment. But as a result, the impression is not very good. Some of the houses are covered with cloth. The general appearance suffers from this

Bryggen (fishing harbour ) in Bergen has been on the UNESCO list for world cultural heritage since 1979. It is bustling with people, and surrounding it are various seafood markets and restaurants. Suggested places for drink and meal are Madam Fella for a drink, Baker Brun for snack Bryggeloftet & Stuene Restaurant for a meal.
