The bandstand was purchased as a cast iron construction kit and given as a gift to the municipality of Bergen by businessman and consul FG Gade. The bandstand was supplied by Vulkan, Jernstøberi & Mek in Christiania and built in "Byens Park" in 1888. The bases of the pillars also bear the inscription Vulkan Christiania 1888. Like Ole Bull's Lysøen villa, the bandstand is stylistically characterized by historicism inspired by Moorish architecture. Between 1999 and 2000, it was restored by architects Andersen og Irgens AS, by Per Morten Ekerhovd and KH Irgens and is currently rented by the municipality of Bergen.

This is an attractive feature in Bergen town centre and we paused in the shade to watch some youngsters walking on the stepping stones. Attractive and very well done with a certain elegance. An asset in this attractive pedestrianised area.

This is a beautiful pavilion in a lovely park in Bergen. Situated near a small lake, It's a perfect spot to wander on a nice day. It also makes a great spot for relaxing with a good book or people watching. The KODE Musem buildings are right nearby along another side of the lake.

Beautiful gazebo. Nice flowers around. Very relaxing. The authorities must make these parks a non-smoking area.

A picturesque pavilion in a well decorated garden in the center of the old city. Helps to add beauty to design of the city. Tourists would walk through this area as it is a pretty part of the city.
