This place was really interesting to visit. It was completely free to the public and gives a lot not history of what happened in Burgen during world war ll I would recommend stopping by and at least giving it a look if you are interested in the history. Did I mention it was free.

Well, the great thing about this museum is it's free, a rare thing to find in Norway. Museum is organised across 3 floors. Ground floor focuses on Norway's involvement in the UN operations around the World. First floor is the primary and best exhibition focusing on the resistance movement between 1940-45. Second Floor focuses on the history of the Fortress.

The museum is fantastic, great experience and learned lots of things. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. Not crowded at all, we were literally only 6 people. To top it all up, they offer free coffe and tea at the end of the visit, which you can enjoy in a very chill room.

Bergen has an interesting history, and its World War 2 is of particular note. The Bergenhus Festningsmuseum presents a comprehensive localised account of what can only be described as a troubled period where many local Norwegians endured a bitter existence. I found the record of this period well thought out and worthy of interest.

Super museum. No idea that it was going to be so extensive, and particularly liked the critical look at history rather than being one sided or purely factual. Virtually everything has been painstakingly translated into English - yes you need to read most of this from a book. This is not the kind of place you go if you are into museums with touchy feely interactive stuff - it's pretty heavy going for the most part so that may or may not suit you. I found it to be refreshing and very informative.

Excellent place for people who love information about World War II. Admission is free, with free coffee and tea in the cafe. Really informative about Norway and Bergen during the war. They also have exhibits on Norwegian troops post WWII.

Superb military museum particularly Norways resistance in WW2. Could do with more short precis descriptions of exhibits in English.....the cary round guides are a bit too wordy. Good museum overall

It is a museum that will surely delight lovers of the Second World War, as it has a lot of objects from that time. It is free, the staff is very friendly and they offer you hot tea, which is more than welcome if you visit it in autumn or winter.

Not many exhibits, but there is a lot of information on boards along the walls. If you really want to get good view on Norways post war history its the right place.

A visit to this museum gives you a very good opportunity to se the WWII resistance in Bergen displayed. I have personally met decorated combat veterans from WWII here. The staff is skilled and competent and will give you a very good information of the war-time occupation in this city. Recommendable.

Amazing museum. Great experience. Initially we went there to get out of the rain but it turned out to be well worth it. The museum in FREE, the coffee and tea are FREE and the restrooms are FREE (if youve been in Norway long enough then you know that all of these are big deals). And the hospitalielty is amazing. They provide you with translations in many different languages. If you like history, and especially military history, this is the place for you. Will definitely go back if ever in Bergen again.

Good war museum. Free entrance. Ground floor looks like for recruiting.

This museum provides three floors of historical information about the Norwegian Armed Forces, the Resistance, and the nearby fortress. Each of these floors offer guides in several languages that make it possible to understand the photos and artifacts on display. If I could make one critique, it would be that the arrangement of items in the Resistance section could be better organized.

The staff here is very friendly and the museum is informative with artefacts related to war and fortress. There is also a lovely place for having tea and coffee and reading books about war.
