To sum it up: old rooms, squeaky and soft beds, definitely not 4-star standard. I was staying in the hotel’s building where the gym is. Room probably in the same state as when the hotel was opened. It needs a renovation badly. The beds are squeaky and extremely soft, the bathroom is out of a 1980s movie. The black-out curtains do not fully block-out light, which is a problem when you are in a country where sunset is 11pm and sunrise 4am. Had to sleep w eye-mask on. The hotel needs a renovation badly, long overdue. Reading the other reviews maybe just the building I was in needs a do-over… Stay elsewhere if you can.

We got a room in the building across the street and first of all the elevator was horrendous, very old and smelled weird. The room as well was very old and unpleasant. The walls were scratched and stained and overall the room had a very noticeable wear and tear. There was mold by the bathtub ( + we had ordered a room with a shower, but got a bath) and the tap was broken. There was no AC in the room so we had to keep the window open during the night, so we didn’t get any good sleep since the windows of the room faced the street, which was very noisy at night. The next morning we asked at the reception to upgrade the room (since the hotel is considered to be 4*) and the lady in the reception was very understanding (I realize from the reviews that this definitely wasn’t the first time the customers were complaining). However, she did not have any answer to why people have to pay the same amount for a room in the old or the new building which has higher standards. We got a room in yet another building across the reception. It was better, but still quite old. The whole hotel needs a refurbishment very soon. Not a pleasant experience, we paid ~150 € / night for a standard double room. Do not recommend.

Convenient centrally located hotel, a few minutes walk from downtown Bergen. We stayed in the annexe across the road, which appears to be a bit dated in comparison with the more modern main building. The decor and furnishings were a bit tired but the rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a typical buffet with choices of cooked food, breads and pastries, cereal and yoghurts etc. For a 3 star hotel, no complaints.

This hotel was appalling. Our tour group was placed in the annex building- a dirty and dated facility across the street from the main facility. Most of us were placed on the second floor in a wing directly above a busy street and the entrance to the building annex and the entrance to main annex –overlooking the location of guest bus drop off. Noise never ceased. For the few that were in wing facing another direction- I heard that drunks and garbage were the view from her room. The hallways were filthy – and there was moldy dated carpeting throughout. Trash piled up in hallways near elevator bank- two doors from my room location. The rooms were dated – flooring filthy, headboards and windowsills dust covered. Chairs all stained cloth – required a towel to sit on these without feeling they were soiled in human waste. The bathroom toilet was on top of the shower – and as a 5-foot tall relatively short person – my knees hit the opposing wall while using the toilet- cannot imagine what taller guests did?! The thermostat in my room on two radiators was broken – and the room heat couldn’t be turned off, making the room beyond an uncomfortable temperature. Breakfast was just gross-- stinky aged fish, scrambled eggs that looked like egg nog, dirty dishes, soggy fruit and no alternative plant-based milk or gluten free products beyond a loaf of stale packaged bread. FILTHY floors in dining area too.

Clean, beautiful hotel, nice staff, great breakfast buffet. Quite close to the water and the city centre + transport to and from the airport.

Rooms were clean but very basic. No problems at all but just very simple. Breakfast on the other hand was absolutely superb. Really really excellent, what a great choice and the juice was very fresh as well. Would recommend staying here as location Is great and price is very competitive for the area, what not to like.

Hotel need renovation. Our room was full of small cracks and towel holder was broken, parts of bath were missing. Very soft beds. We asked several times to open our safe box, nothing was done, we couldn’t use it. A lot of people in breakfast area, was hard to find a place and very stuffed air. Overall 2 star hotel.

We were in the newer building, and the rooms were nice and spacious with comfortable beds. The gym has a decent amount of machines, at least one to hit every major muscle group, though there's no bars or barbells for bench press, squat, deadlift, etc. Location isn't bad with about an 8 minute walk to Bryggen, though it can be noisy when the nearby establishments play music at night. All around an excellent value hotel.

My stay at this Bergen hotel was exceptional! The comfortable rooms and top-notch amenities provided the best value for money in the area. The staff was warm and welcoming, ensuring a delightful experience. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Bergen.

Not a first rate hotel a tourist hotel. Tired small single beds next to each other . Very much a budget hotel. Food good. Staff very helpful. Beds and rooms disappointing. I liked the location seems off the main drag at first but is good not too much in the heaving city. But everything a short walk.

Convenient location and best hotel breakfast I've had since the pandemic. With no ventilation the room was warm, with the window open the street was noisy. The bathroom was poorly designed with a slippery step up to the bath tub, the glass partially did not stop water leaks to the floor, and while sitting on the toilet one shoulder touched the paper dispenser and the other shoulder touched the sink counter.

The room was way too hot and had no way to cool it down. Grateful for the two fans provided. The bath and shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor. Needs maintenance urgently. Helpful staff though.

We had a nice stay at the hotel. Rooms offer enough space, beds are good, windows open is not recommended because of the street noise but it was quite warm so we had to open them. Nice view from our room (6th floor). Breakfast was great, no time slots and lots of different foods to choose from.

Our room was not in the same building where the breakfast was taking place. I think this is a low point, considering that if it's raining (it was the case), you have to take your coat on or your umbrella etc. The breakfast was over crowded and some guests were invited to wait or to come back later on. The room was very old fashion and not really clean: the carpet with huge darker spot, the plugs covered with a thick layer of dust. The cleaning service was coming at 8 am in the morning when we were still in bed, quite early to start the cleaning considering we were not checking out the same day. and then, at the end of the day, we found out the rooms was not clean and no one passed by. I would't come a second time in this hotel nor recommend to friends

Close enough to most things, a great relaxed stay, and a fitting buffet style breakfast before we left. Bergen has so much to see, plan to stay at least 2 nights minimum to best explore the history, local artisan crafts, and culinary delights.

The rooms were clean, tidy and welcoming. The staff were very cheerful and helpful with any questions we had. The breakfast was outstanding. The location of the hotel and proximity to all services was excellent.

The rooms are very tight, and there is no room to lay out a large suitcase. If you fold it out, you can slide it under the bed. There is a long list of 'not availables', including breakfast, but you can get coffee and a snack at reception. They have a self check in, which is good if it goes without a hitch but needs passport info, etc. Ask for more pillows before even going to rooms as one is the thickness of a magazine.

The first impression I had of the Scandic Bergen City was stellar... and set the precedent for a great stay. Upon arriving, a staff member helped me carry my luggage. I was escorted to my room, which was very nice, ample and extremely clean. Breakfast though wasn't in keeping with the rest of the quality of the hotel. All in all, a very good stay. Would definitely stay here again.

5 stars to the reception team for professional kindness and care. Room was nice and comfortable, perfect temperature, could lean window a bit so it's possible to get fresh air inside.Breakfast options were pleasing enough. The only thing what was disturbing - smell of old pipes/humidity in bathroom.

If you are an international traveller you'll be surprised to see no air conditioning in rooms. Small rooms and these are not sound proof Premises are clean and hotel staff are cordial and welcoming Food is alright but you might not like it if you have to eat here for long specially Asians Ask for a fan if you feel hot in room. It can be hot specially if it's a sunny day and if your room has direct sunlight Weekends are a pain of you sleep early. You can hear random sounds from outside every often. There's a movie theatre right next to the hotel and all shopping centres are close by. Conveince stores are close and there are many in the vicinity

Rooms are a decent size, clean and comfortable. Location of quite central considering the city center is well within walking distance. Family friendly. Prices are very reasonable

Unbelievable breakfast spread. A surprisingly decently equipped Gym. Our building had dated rooms.

A good hotel with comfortable rooms. The beds were comfortable and the room's temperature was set well. The TV was big and the quality of it was fine. However there was no toothbrushes available in the rooms so we had to buy it ourselves. The lobby has a coffee and hot chocolate dispenser where people can fill a cup of hot drink. The food during breakfast was good and the food was diverse enough to suit everyone's palate. The walking space were a bit narrow and I had to weave through the tables and chairs to move around. The location of the hotel was decent as it is within walking distance to the harbor.

Nice rooms, good beds, good service and friendly staff. The breakfast was also really good, but the tables were so close that it was hard to pass people sitting when getting my own food. Also, while I was eating my last piece of bread, the staff simply took my plate without asking. I couldn't say anything as I was chewing, and I was still holding the rest of my food in my hand. I felt rushed, even though we hadn't been there for a long time. I thought of giving three stars because of this, but overall the hotel actually deserves four.

I got a room in the old wing, the room was indeed spacious but it needs to be upgraded and refreshed as soon as possible. The shower inside the bathtub floods the bathroom floor since there is no effective sealing. The lighting system in the room is complicated and it is not possible to use the night light next to the bed without the rest of the lighting working. The empty minibar did not work as a refrigerator even though I plugged it in. The food was satisfactory and plentiful but not above average.

Warm welcome from friendly helpful receptionist. Room stark industrial grey with a huge bathroom. No kettle/ refreshments. Machine at reception five floors down. No milk. Breakfast choices astounding and delicious.

Okay hotel for just a few nights. Rooms are fairly big for Scandic standards. Bathroom was outdated, with a shower curtain rather than a door. Towels were replaced every day, even though their sticker “Hang to reuse” (what we did). There were no coffee/tea facilities in the room. Breakfast was good. Finding a seat was a challenge, some people were seated in the lobby, or had to go upstairs to eat in a conference room. There’s no private parking, but plenty of space to load/unload at the front door.

Great location, excellent breakfast! Easily walkable to the light rail, the train station, the fish market, Bryggen. Reserved two family rooms for our party of 6. The description said 4 twin beds. Reality was two twin beds and a pull out sofa. Sleeping on a sofa bed was unexpected and not great. Room was very stuffy, hot at night, even with windows open. Luckily they let us borrow a tiny fan at the front desk. Room was not ready upon arrival, which is not surprising with an international flight that got us to Bergen by 10:30 a.m. It was disappointing that our rooms were still not ready for check-in at 3:00. We were very tired from traveling overnight and then roaming around for 5 hours after arrival. They did have a place for us to drop our luggage while we waiting, but it was not secured (didn't bother us, but I could see that being a concern for some travelers).

This hotel was not four star. The rooms were old and didn't look at all like the pictures on the website. The hair drier almost caught fire, there was a leak on the bathroom and the window couldn't be closed properly. The breakfast was sub par, we opted to not have it on our second morning - powdered eggs and cold beans and awful orange juice. We had a friend who stayed at a similarly priced hotel that lived up to the standard of four stars, and the breakfast was excellent, so it's got nothing to do with the price. Just avoid this hotel. You won't save money, you'll just be miserable.

There is a problem with the central heating in the building across the street from the lobby. In the middle of summer, with the thermostat set to 10°C, there is hot air coming out of the ceiling vents in the room and the corridor. The result is a room at over 30°C when we came in at night, even if it was 12°C outside. With the windows open, the temperature doesn't really go down because of the hot air being constantly provided to the room. When notified, the staff at the reception said it was impossible and did nothing to try to understand and fix the issue.

Very nice hotel! Excellent and variated breakfast. Staff ate very helpful. Nice rooms. Just in the city center and loads of restaurants around it. The Flybussen (bus from/to the airport) just leaves you a 100 meters from the main door, a couple of minutes walking distance. Ask the driver or the tourist info.

Feels depressing, having been driven through glitzy Christmas lights we seem to have picked a dark and glum area. Foyer is nicely presented but not glamorous. Rooms are out of Anne Frank. Terrible lighting and decor. So relieved its just one night .

I have stayed in many Scandic hotels across the country and this is below average. We ended up in the old hotel tower across the street and there was outdated furniture, view into the ugly backyard and a rotten smell in the room. The breakfast buffet was extremely crowded and the selection less than in other Scandic properties. I do not understand why they are squeezing guests from two hotel buildings into one dining room. Applying some basic operations management and workflow principles would improve the situation, so please review your processes.

It is a hood hotel to stay on but don't expect much. Breakfast very good but room cleanliness was not up to the mark. We had our room one hour late than usual time. Lobby is a good place to wait and also you can keep your luggage in the luggage room. Very good location. Staffs are good but not excellent. Services are ok.
