The location of the accommodation is excellent - the rest is, as the name suggests, "basic". Unfortunately, the cleanliness has to be criticized; I have rarely found a room that was so obviously unclean. There were clearly visible long black hairs in both the bed and the shower wall, really disgusting. The fact that you can't open the windows also bothered us; we would have liked to ventilate despite the pitiful view of a house facade. It was very quiet during our 2 night stay in September.

This hotel is basic in many ways: They only run the reception from 0900-21:00, there's no breakfast or food available on site, and they only make your bed for you once a week. You're pretty much on your own, but most seasoned travellers won't need much support anyway. There's a reason why there's an earplug dispenser in reception and more earplugs waiting for you in the room - The nightclub below can be heard but it's not too bad. If you have a room above the third floor, you should be fine. Having said that, the rooms are actually quite big, stylishly decorated and very clean. The bathrooms are larger than other hotels in the area I've been in, and there's a kettle and mini-fridge in the room so you can make coffee and keep a couple of croissants for the morning. The hotel is in an excellent location in Bergen, central but on the edge of the Academic Quarter, which is a mixture of student bars, cinemas and other old cultural buildings. Take some time to look above the street level at the old architecture and the scenery surrounding the city. Try to get there before 19:00 in the evening when they shut the reception, so you can collect your keycards and ask any questions. The staff they do have were helpful when they were there. If you turn up late, they'll email/text you instructions on collecting your keycards from a little safe in reception. They also have an out-of-hours telephone number and security. I stayed here on several occasions in October 2013. I would certainly stay here again.

Basic is a great description. The furniture is old and worn and the floors marked. In a 8 day stay we received frame towels only once. There is a nightclub on the 1st floor and the music can be heard in our 3rd floor room until 300am. On the bright side, the location is. 5-10 minutes walk to the fish market and the staff was wonderful.

The staff is wonderful. The hotel is VERY BASIC. You will not get much sleep here because of the two night clubs on the first floor. Again, the staff was amazing and Norwegians are hospitable and friendly and Bergen is a gorgeous city!

The noise from the night club on the ground floor is unbearable. I booked a room at the top floor and it sound like i'm actually in a disco. Staff is pretty friendly the few times I see them in the reception which is fine enough for a low budget hotel. I had problems with he electricity in my room and the staff showed be where the circuits are in case I had to power back the room. The room itself seems nice and clean.

I wanted to knock this down to 4 stars because I felt it was expensive, but I had to remind myself that ALL accommodation in Bergen is pricey, and this is overall pretty decent. So, for a fairly modest price (for Bergen), I got my very own en suite single with flat screen TV, mini fridge, desk, kettle. The decor was clean, modern and fun. I loved the quotes on the walls. The bed was probably the most comfortable on my entire Scandinavian trip. I was recovering from a nasty cold and slept like a brick. It was amazing. I even extended one more night because I loved it so much. Just down the hall was a coffee machine with drinks for 10KR. Breakfast is not included, but you can buy a voucher for the Scandic Hotel's breakfast. Nice location about a 10-15 minute walk from the train station.

Great location for visiting Bergen. As it says in the name it is basic. But clean and a good need + shower and that's all we needed for this weekend. Major downsides were lack of parking space close by and the music of a pub next door was very loud until 02h00 ( measured the dB and it went up to 60 dB). We were given ear plugs which helped but you can question whether you should endure this in the first place.

This is a simple hotel offering basic amenities for a very reasonable price downtown. Rooms are very clean and spacious. The only downside is it's next to a few clubs so weekends can be loud. The hotel provided ear plugs. Would stay here again despite the weekend noise.

Not useful as a place to sleep. Every night (I was there Monday to Thursday nights) the boom boom boom from the first floor starts about some time between 1130 and 130 and lasts for a solid two hours. The din from the nightclub reaches to the fourth floor and, possibly, all the way to the top floor. Nothing can be done. One star is generous but deserved due to the otherwise clean and mostly-functional fixtures and furnishing. Bed was slightly creaky and slightly uncomfortable.

Its a very good hotel if you are on budget and you want good quality. Rooms are spacious. Comfortable chairs for sitting and Comfortable beds. Washrooms are clean , cleaning is service is once a week and there is some noise at night due to the bar nearby. But hotel provide you with earbuds.

Rooms are cozy but furniture well used, scratches on the floor, found someone hair in the lining. Noise insulation terrible. Next to the hotel there is a pub or club and you can hear music very well. Could not sleep. Because of music overral experience negative.

This is for the light sleepers among us: the music from the bar downstairs might keep you up all night. There aren't many reviews on this, but I spent four nights there and it was the same loud music every night. I switched to the fifth floor after two nights which made it a bit better. They were really friendly about organising that. I thought the rooms were great and the location is very nice, but sleep is important :)

A very small room overlooking a shabby backyard. The windows are uncleaned. The furniture and floors are worn and dingy, as are the curtains. A dirty blanket lay on the bed. The hotel does not offer breakfast and it is extremely noisy until 2:30am with blaring music from the nightclub next door. According to feedback, the coffee machine in the stairwell was still broken the next day. Overall not recommended at all.
