Good location and breakfast. Unfortunately, the staff is not always present. You are prompted a short message telling you to go to another location for any inquiries. This would have been a good information before reaching the hotel without being able to enter it. We were unable to pay at checking which would have helped us not wait for them at checkout and then have to rush to the bus station. Rooms were mostly clean, but the view of the interior court is very disappointing to see through the very dirty window. Overall not a bad experience, but would not choose to stay there again.

The hotel appears to have been renovated recently and is simple and clean, OK if you're on a budget. Comfortable beds, but a small room in my case. The bathroom was smaller than a closet. Breakfast was adequate, but not at the level of other hotels in Bergen. Location, however, is excellent, easy walking distance to lots of activities and popular sights in the city.

they are OPEN. google status is outdated. newly renovated and acquired by hotel augustine (next door). as i’ve been part of hotel openings, i’d suggest improved comms to guests about this work in progress such as a note on arrival. they’re doing what they can it seems with limited staff so you have to rely on augustine for front desk support including check-in in the evenings. breakfast buffet is rammed though good. rooms are clean and updated though no photos were available at the time. the single twin i wanted ended up being a bunk bed so it feels like a child’s room. not sure if all the twins are like this. mostly writing this to share that YES they are open… and in a great location.

It's an old hotel but very well maintained and clean. The breakfast was amazing..no complaints. Giving a 4 star rating only because the hotel is 12 minutes suitcase dragging distance from the station. It's very very close to bryggen however.

Friendly staff and good breakfast. I stayed in a single room . Rooms are small but prices are fair for expensive Norwegian city. I had to wait for my room check in as the housekeeping was understaffed, but the friendly front desk handled very well .. Perhaps this humble abode needs more attention by the new landlord who took over

Breakfast was fine, but the room was very small for its price. Moreover the rooms are only cleaned every third day.

This is a very nice hotel, situated in a great place, close to historic Bergen and departure points for fjord tours, and not too far from the railway station. Also close to shops and restaurants. Room and beds comfortable and the breakfast was the best we had anywhere- lots of variety across all types of food; delicious. The staff were also friendly and helpful; check-in/out smooth.

It's very well located, our room was quite big with a small balcony. The hitting didn't work well but not a big problem. The breakfast was complete. The receptionist were helpful. Good choice.

A lot of hotels in Norway can be very similar. If you travel for work, then usually all you want is a decent meal, somewhere comfortable to sleep and a good breakfast. This hotel doesn't really provide that. Although there's nothing to bad with the hotel as such, there's nothing to recommend it either. I stayed for several nights on different occasions in September 2013. The rooms were all tiny, almost always with a single or double bed pushed against the wall so as to just about have enough room for a desk and a cupboard on the other side. Although I didn't have the temperature problems that the reviewer Pat Hansen did, I concur that you'll be banging your knees on the bathroom door a bit. At least the bed was comfy and everything was clean. The food wasn't anything to write home about. Although there's a restaurant that does evening food, it feels like a cheap Spanish hotel and the food is about as good... At triple the price. Go and find somewhere else for dinner. Breakfast was fine, but there selection of cereals and hot & cold foods was very limited. Not terrible, but not great either. I won't be staying here again if I have the choice, but if everywhere else is booked up, I've stayed in worse.

Great spot next to the harbor where there are plenty of shops for fresh seafood. The hotel itself is beautiful and the room we stayed in was very spacious. It had great curtains to keep out the sun since sunset was at 11pm!

My wife and I took a quick vacation flight from Providence, RI (USA) to Bergen, Norway. We stayed at the Best Western. We found the location of the Hotel to be excellent, walking distance to everything a visitor might want to do in Bergen. Our room accommodations were very comfortable and accommodating. The best part of the hotel was it's Norwegian Breakfast, I never had three varieties of herring for breakfast before. The food was excellent, the service provided by "Ann Karin" the breakfast hostess was just perfect. Their bread is freshly baked and delicious. My wife loved the home made yogurt and the wild berry toppings. The front desk was also very accommodating, ask for help from Olaug or Mikkel and they will go out of their way to help. We would stay here again.

The hotel is pretty nice. It was an easy walk to the main shopping area in Bergen (all the colored stores everyone photographs). The room was nice too. The shower in the bathroom was a little small (could stick out my elbows and was touching each side.) I thought the breakfast was really good. Plenty of choices. They had a map of Bergen at the front desk and showed you some attractions in the area. The staff was nice as well.

Location was fair. No other pluses. 1. The room was not cleaned at all during all our stay, 3 nights. No towels changed, no refillables refilled. 2. Common areas of the hotel are dirty and really worn out. 3. Breakfast is poor, tasteless, unclean. Breakfast area is tiny, you literally eat in front of the main entrance and the reception. 4. The room. Dark grey walls make the room feel like a dungeon. Poor lightning. Poor beds and bedding arrangements. The only window faces another building which is a foot away, the view is on the pipes and thr "well". 5. Staff was rude, unhelpful, careless. Understaffed. 6. No operational reception. For check-in, check-out, any queries, one has to go the "sister-hotel" across the street. 7. Unfair and rude treatment. Once you pass an enormous queue at the reception of the sister hotel, the reception staff would tell you to wait because guests of the sister hotel have priority and serviced first. Instead of helping guests who already waited for more than an hour for check-in, the staff aggressively jumps at guests, how did they dare get inside the hotel through the front entrance. You can only grt inside if you have a card. 8. Reception is left unattended for hours and hours. 9. Drainage does not work properly. 10. Air circulation and room heating do not work properly. It was August, but the weather was about 12-16 degrees. The room was very cold. But extremely stuffy. 11. We asked to upgrade the room and were promised a different room, it was available. But the receptionist did not know how to change rooms in their system. So he told us to wait for 10 minutes until the new shift receptionist comes. Instead of 10 minutes, she showed up in 2 hours. She refused to change our room and she lied that it was no longer available. It was clear that she just was not bothered to make changes in their system.
