Great Camping near Bergen - it´s optimal for daytrips into the city without the hassle of having the camper in the town, which is easy to reach with bicycle and or train. Included in the price is a sauna, the toilets and showers are clean, each parking lot for a camper has generous space around it and there is a nice big living room to hang out when it´s rainy. Optimal for families with children, as there are many animals and playgrounds. The staff is friendly and helpful - we enjoyed our stay and would come again. Martin & Maria

We‘ve spent 2 nights at the farm with our camper van end of July. Unfortunately they overbooked the place completely, the sanitary infrastructor is therefore always dirty and you wait a long time for toilets and showers. Also the power goes on and off in the evening which is quite annoying when you try to cook in the cozy but also ways too crowded kitchen. Told the staff about the overbooking but the ladies working there don‘t seem to have anything to say, it‘s always the apparently royal owner who seems to have a very one of a kind attitude about hosting (as you can also ready in the responses to other comments here). So over all nice idea with the farm and nice infrastructor but disappointingly lead.

The campsite does not have enough toilets, showers and sinks to wash up so be prepared to wait in a queue if you want to use any of these facilities. When we stayed in mid-August there were over 30 families sharing 4 shower & toilet rooms and 1 family bathroom as well as 2 sinks to wash up dishes. Staff were friendly and attentive. Investing in more facilities would make this campsite much better.

Delightful farm and camping site. Beautiful vistas and the facilities are the best I’ve encountered. We stayed in early September and the checkin was easy, the owners extremely friendly and provided great information about hiking the area. The showers and sauna are amazing with heated floors and everything is brand new and modern. The converted barn into a general living room and kitchen was comfortable with games, books, tables and very spacious. The decor is excellent and very fitting for the locale. Overall an outstanding location and by far my favorite campsite in Norway.

We really liked that Campside. It was probably the nicest and most private one in 2 weeks Norway. The owners help you with all your needs, take time for you personally and show you around. The bathrooms are pretty new and very clean. We loved the living room that could be used by everyone. Thanks for finding a spot for us although we called so late.

Stayed here in the barn overnight and had a lovely stay. Room was clean, tidy and warm. Shower facilities were clean, with washer and dryer available. The kitchen is lovely and gorgeous inside! I would definitely stay again. Views outside are lovely, too. They offer EV charging via 16A Commando connector used on campsites, but, our Tesla wouldn't charge (sockets had reversed polarity).

We were staying beginning of August for 2 nights. I had high expectations as the Website and the descriptions were so nice. Unfortunately the real farm and the campground didn’t add up to promises made on the Website. The price/ night is the most we paid on our entire trip which I happily paid, as I thought it’ll be worth it. The promised „playground“ is tiny and was the worst we experienced on the entire trip. It didn’t even match up to the word playground it seem like a mix and match of random stuff and the sandpit contained more gravel than sand. We saw the bunny rabbits which are in a pen right at the beginning of the area. The horses, chickens, ducks and sheep aren’t really visible. (We visited the horses in their barn, so my little one could pet one of them, after we asked the girl taking care of them). The breakfast was ok, but not as great as described on the description. I can’t say if it was expensive or not as I know prices for food and expanses in general are higher in Norway, yet it wasn’t matching up the description (once again). The campground is missing a usable kitchen which is a big minus (as even the tiniest campgrounds we stayed at, at least had a small cooking area). The washrooms/ showers are modern, clean and really good. Yet there are way to few for the amount of people staying there. Even if you just want to use the toilet, freshen up (there is one dedicated toilet, without a shower), you have to wait in line with those who want to shower (which of course takes a bit of time). This is super unfortunate, especially when you’re traveling with a small child who has to go when it has to go. The one dedicated toilet is also used for disposing the camper toilets which is just gross and smelly. I know the farm team will reply now that at least the showers are wonderful, new and great. Yes, they are, yet I rather have a less modern toilet as long as I can use it without being in line. And we also knew that we were traveling in the main season, yet we never had to wait for just going to the washroom even on fully booked campgrounds. I apparently was lucky and was able to shower with warm water. I showered at around 6pm which seemed to be a quiet time. The price of 130 for washing and drying seemed a bit over the price we paid on other campgrounds. I give three stars as my kid could pick eggs which made him and us really happy (for him). Also 3 stars as the area and the set up is nice, yet it seems like the campground is not set up for hosting this many guests. Bergen is super close and the train ride from the train station (10min with the car) is fast and easy. The staff was friendly, sweet and really eager to help. Still I have to say that I find the price is to high. Of course we „could“ use all the extra included services (concierge, boats, sauna and so on), but some of them aren’t doable if the weather is bad (no one to blame here), or you’re traveling with a small child which you’re not willing to go on a boat tour with. It would be nice to have a lower over night price and those add ons as extra payable services. At the end I think the place is overall nice, but should charge a little less.

I think they need to have a course in customer care. An entry level course in customer care would teach them that you should be nice to people even if you know with their line of questions asking about the facility and it’s clear they will not reserve it because of the bathroom situation, a politely thanks and have a nice day will be great, no need to be rude about it and hangup the phone.

A wonderful place close to Bergen city (+/- 30 minutes by bike-train or buss-train). Perfect for children (our almost two-year old entertained herself with all the animals; bunnies, horses, chickens and ducks, and playing areas), and for the parents as well (the sauna is a blessing when our daughter was sleeping). Stunning views, very spacious and friendly service. The camping is still growing, and some extra toilets, showers and space to do the dishes will be welcome (especially since the camping seems so popular), so hopefully they’ll be able to supply in that for the future. The bathrooms that are available are super clean and pretty though, and with the right planning you’ll be sure to get a free one! Much thanks for the horseback ride for our daughter! She had the time of her life (and my wife as well, haha)

Best of the best ever farm stay I've stayed in my life. Frode, the owner, is a the example of what a great host means. 100% recommend. Calm area .The surroundings are nothing but extraordinary for a hiking. Near to a tiny village where to do shopping.

Such a picturesque and adorable campsite on the countryside. Great service house with modern combined toilet and showers, free laundry facilities, restaurant onsite for breakfast and lighter meals. Camping spots both close to service house and also with a more remote feeling. Cute sandy beach with a small boat, a few seats and bbq facilities for campers. Possible to buy the service of getting a ride to the train station to Bergen. My camping spot was a bit leveled but with a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. Staff beary friendly and helpful. Free wifi available but a bit on and off. Good cellphone reception so no problem to be connected. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Would definitely recommend 🐻😊👍

We stayed in one of the rooms which was lovely and cosy. The shared kitchen is very well equipped and also has a terrace with a couple of tables if you want to eat outside which was a nice touch. We were grateful that they had laundry facilities (65 NOK each for the washer and dryer - the dryer takes ~3 h so make sure you allow enough time for this if you decide to do washing). They offer transfers to and from Arna station, etc. but I imagine the costs would add up if you were completely reliant on these to get around (see photo for prices). The sauna is lovely and the bathrooms are a good standard, however it would be great if there was one more in the main building (or at least a separate toilet) as with 2 bathrooms between ~8 rooms we were waiting to use one quite a few times. A kettle in the rooms would also be a nice touch to save having to go to the kitchen to make a hot drink, but overall we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to others wanting to stay out of the city.

Nice comfortable room (and cosy by raining weather). Clean and nice shared bathrooms and general living room. Location nice by quite lake and farm site. Breakfast is nice with good scrambled eggs and good scenery (even in the rain). Hoste were polite and helpful to gave some tips for our futher travel.

There is no shared kitchen! When we booked there was, and then there wasn't... Fishing equipment is all faulty. BBQ equipment is a laugh. One boat is barely floating, the other has a broken paddle. Rooms are ok but really small and noisy. "Beautifull view" is a row of Campers. No private bathroom possible. Staff is just some kids. So I wouldn't really recommend.

We spent one night camping at Solneset Gård during the off season mid of September. It was the most scenic place we stayed at yet and we loved it! Staff is really friendly and welcoming! However, do not expect too many staff members to be around during the off season - farm life needs to be tended to as well ;) Someone will come around eventually and the place is well described with signs so you will find everything you need on your own. We learned later on, that the “restaurant” can be used as kitchen during the off season which is really cozy as well! The sanitary facilities are top notch. Everything is really new and the place is very clean (if everyone applies to the rules and takes off their muddy boots, coming inside!). I really liked the spacious bathrooms and that you had toilet and shower in one room to yourself. If I counted correctly, there were 4 showers/toilets as of now which was totally fine for us. No one was waiting in line even though you could take hot showers without tokens (once again - camping also means to watch out for others and your surroundings a little bit so I guess we can all save some water while showering, right?). I also know that the owners are planning to build more sanitary facilities in the future. We paid 550NOK for a car and the driver plus 40NOK for a second person which was more than fair for this beautiful spot! Dear Solneset team, thank you for creating this beautiful get away and thanks for having us. I’d love to come back. All the best!

It's an expensive but amazing place. It has shower, sauna, fishing, boat included in price. The parking space is ok. It has bar, restaurant, and a boat you can use in lake next to the camping. The issue with this camp is that ot doesn't have enough wc for all people and wc and shower is in the same place. So you have tp stay in the queues even for wc.

This campsite is expensive. However, considering the other options in the area, I would rather pay more to stay here. We were here in late September 2023. The sheep and bunnies were fun to watch very close-by. An occasional attention-seeking sheep would come to the fence hoping for a pet. This is an operating farm so it is important to understand that reception is not staffed during all hours and you must walk around to find someone. But because of that, the service is not top-notch. The facilities are what you pay for here, they are all very clean. The showers are free and run hot. The sauna is free and pleasant. During the off-season, the restaurant is free to use as a kitchen. There is wifi. There is a nice dishwasher station. Water is free and very accessible. Washer and dryer are available but at an additional charge. We paid 675NOK for 2 people, electricity, and a load of laundry. We would definitely come here again, but it is tough for me to recommend such an expensive place for camping. It's just up to you to decide if you are willing to go elsewhere to save money with worse conditions. - Edit: In reply to the owner, I am not trying to spread false information. If an owner cares enough to reply to a review, I will always update it to ensure it is accurate. We tried calling the number posted at reception, it rang once and then the line went dead with no one on the other side. I stated in my original review that I understand this is an operating farm and reception might not be staffed, but because of that it is not 5 star service. As far as where we ended up parking, I understand that is our fault and I apologize. I will remove that from my original post. I simply stated it was expensive. While we were willing to spend the extra, it is difficult to recommend such an expensive campsite when in general, people are trying to save money by camping. We have traveled a bit of Norway, for a site with electricity, showers and a kitchen we average paying 300-400NOK/night. I'm not sure the addition of a sauna justifies a 30% increase. There are 5 star facilities here, but the price is steep.

Our group decided to take a room and also caravan park place to stay there after our hike to Trolltunga. It was such a beautiful place to stay. The room was small but very cosy and all of the other services (sauna, washmaschine, tolilets…) were included. Even though we arrived after check-in hours, the manager explained everything to us by phone. We can surely recommend.

Really nice camping site! There even was a sauna to use. Horses an rabbits were right next to the spot where we stayed ☺️ You can book a breakfast or dinner if you want to. The only thing that was missing for me was a plug in the shower room for a hairdryer, but you could use the one right outside, so no big deal. Would definitely recommend!

Lovely accommodation for an affordable price. Surrounding area is beautiful mountainous scenery with a large lake. Bus and Tram links into the city of Bergen. Farm has chickens, sheep, rabbits, horses etc. Kitchen is shared but a great opportunity to meet other travellers.

Amazing farm stay concept with a mix of rustic and modern style on the barn where you will find the cozy brand new bedrooms, luxurious bathrooms and the sauna, which is a super plus. Spacious and very well equipped kitchen/ living room where it is possible to spend hours relaxing, playing some of the available games or just enjoying the great view from terrace. Here you get to see (and cuddles with) horses, sheep, rabbits, ducks and more. Also, you will find a cozy cabine by the lake where it is allowed use grills and boats/ kaiaks, without extra cost, in a real idyllic location. You definitely should try it.

Great overall experience at Solneset Gård! I booked their common area/dining hall and kitchen for my husband’s 30th birthday party. We hosted about 20 people comfortably and the staff and administration was very helpful and understanding even when we had last minute changes! They went out of their way to make sure the event was a success. We also booked a stay for one night and enjoyed their luxury room which was really nice. Would definitely book again 😊

Lovely stay at the farm which we enjoyed for 2 days with our toddler. It was very convenient. Extremely clean bathrooms and a lovely sauna! They had convenient transport to Arna station and back for getting to Bergen! Thank you the stay! Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again!

We searched the internet for a campsite and were initially surprised by the price, which seemed high to us. We went anyway because the reviews convinced us. When we arrived we were greeted by the friendly landlady and she gave us a tour of the absolutely beautiful farm. It was all very informal and we both felt right at home. The toilets and showers were very clean and nice. The large, beautiful living room with kitchen also convinced us both. Very cozy and pretty. The highlights for us were the associated lake, on which you could go up with a boat or kayak (included in the price). At the lake is another nice hut with a barbecue area and comfortable chairs. The field on which unbelievably large types of vegetables and extremely tasty strawberries grow, which you can help yourself to. Lastly, the sauna was a nice extra to the rest. Electricity, fresh water as well as washing machine and dryer can all be found. For my girlfriend and me a very nice stay and we would have liked to have stayed longer. Deservedly 5/5 stars! Oh, and there are plenty of animals :) The price is worth it !

Farm located right in the middle of nature by a beautiful lake. Big kitchen and super helpful staff and owners. They only have one bathroom / shower which often leads to a wait over an hour. Lots of things you can rent. Boat for the lake. Horseback riding. Ebikes. Also the internet wifi is very fast.

Beautiful Farm with very kind owners. Still in build up and improval phase for campers. Boats for rent. Good for trips to Bergen.

  • 4/5 Rich M. 4 years ago on Google
Positives - The scenery is fantastic. Frode (the owner) is very freindly and really helpful. There is a fantastic communal space/kitchen with utensils, kitchen equipment, free to use tea and coffee, etc. There are lots of nice touches like a free to use, washer and dryer, the kids can look at the farm's sheep, it's very quiet, the price is reasonable and there is free WiFi. Downside - there is only one combined toilet, shower, sink which meant a long wait at peak times (there were 20+ people staying when we visited), which for a ten year old wasn't good! The parking area, won't suit everyone. You park along a fence in front of one of the farm buildings. It's flat and has an awesome view but does slightly limit your options for tents or awnings. The end result is that it's a lovely site, with a great owner, which we'd happily go back to when access to toilets and showers improves.

Very nice place. Nice stylish bathrooms. Nice Hosts. But 1 hour to Bergen with public Transport.

Really beautiful and clean. It's a classical farm with some animals like sheeps, horses and chicken. The owner is really friendly and open for all questions about the farm or Bergen. For camper nearly perfect. But the only negative aspect is that there is only one bathroom with a shower and a toilet for 3 apartements and the campers. So you're waiting a lot. But in future there will be more bathrooms as the owner said. So the improvement is in progress. All in all a super place for holidays, as it is in a tent, in a camper or in a apartement. By the way they have a living room with a kitchen. It's perfect to talk with other campers. I loved the visit!

I have to start by saying I’m not a big fan of camping. However, when we arrived there with our motorhome we were completely charmed ! It is such a lovely place surrounded by nature. The camping mg itself had everything you need while keeping it very familial and cozy. It is equipped with showers (recently renovated to high standard), a sauna 😍, a communal kitchen and lounge. You can rent boats and enjoy the big lake or you can buy fresh farm eggs from their chicken. Let’s not forget about the owners of this place who are lovely, super welcoming and went out of their way to give us recommendations on what to do for the rest of our trip. Solneset Gård was a dreamy stay!

Beautiful and silent place, close to nature and animals. The hotel owners understand English well, showed us the area, gave us lots of advice about the place and answered all our questions. Very nice people. We highly recommend it as a stop when visiting the fjords. The place has its own unique atmosphere and we will be happy to return there!
