The Old Town Hall is right next to the parade ground. Unfortunately it was closed and we couldn't visit it.

Very beautiful building from 1558, was Town Hall from 1568. From 1837 it’s use by the city’s presidency and city council and still they use it for meetings!

Originally built as a sheriff's residence in the second half of the 16th century, today it is the most important private Renaissance-style building in Bergen. It soon ceased to be used simply as a residence and was expanded to serve as a venue for local council meetings. Over time it has also been used as a courthouse, guard office, prison for those accused of witchcraft or sorcery waiting to be burned at the stake, and a dungeon for the mentally ill. It has suffered several fires and restorations, its current appearance basically corresponds to the restoration of 1885. This building is much more interesting than the new town hall whose simple and rough appearance resembles an office building. A city as rich in culture and as well preserved as Bergen deserves better than that new building.

Really like this build. It's great that we preserve such old buildings. Always been a little weird to walk in the hall here alone at times. The past is firmly rooted in the masses here.

Not really much to do here. Just look from outside. We went here as just one quick stop on our way to something else to do in Bergen. Not really something that you can go and make a whole activity out of. It’s just a building that you can see from outside and it’s pretty normal looking. Not really a must do once in Bergen.
