Out of all the libraries I’ve visited in the world, this remains my favourite. It merges the traditional role of the library with modern technology and user-centric design. It’s a comfortable place to read and study, meet up with friends over a coffee, listen to music and audiobooks, or try out musical instruments and video games. You can use an app to reserve and borrow books, and scan out / drop off your own books. While the main part of the building is old, they have re-designed and updated parts of it in a very thoughtful, seamless way. I always feel comfortable here. Even if you’re just a visitor passing through Bergen, take an hour out of your day to visit the library. It truly is world-class and is conveniently located just across the road from the train station and Bybanen stop.

A quaint old library with a cafe, kids' play room, game room, and comfortable reading rooms. Unlike nearby shopping centers, bathrooms are available free of charge.

It was lovely being here. It was so easy to get a library card, just need an ID card with photo and the Norwegian ID number. You could borrow upto 99 books! There is a screen on the first floor which you can use to locate the category of books you need. There are also monitors where the books are catalogued and you can search for a specific author or book. The staff here is amazing and ready to help and easy self-checkout. I will always recommend libraries and this one definitely!

Great and calm. Good place to study. You can also play chess or a casual PlayStation game if you feel like it. Oh, and it also has WiFi so that's a huge plus. And of course, great book selection

It is a beautiful place but doesn't have enough facilities to study her. Not enough tables and the big table in one of the room doesn't have electric socket. There are not enough table in the second floor along the glass wall. I think it is ridiculous to charge for toilet in such a public place.

I think it was very good to clear your mind and take a breather on the ground with all the green heads on the ground, with red legs 😉

I love this library because of the old building and atmosphere. Only minus is there should be more seating available, it is hard to find a spot to study and sometimes people have arrangements so they can ask you to move if necessary. Otherwise it's great.

There's only one toilet and it's only for the cafe's customers and not enough space to study or work.

I really liked the downstairs. Not "dark and gloomy" in my experience. Large hall for lending PCs. Something you wonder if you have bought a new mobile, El.PC, - then there are students every Tuesday from 12-2pm who are there to help you with anything you wonder about. And good help. Laughter is loose, coffee and pleasant. Senior department in a larger hall. Only positive and say about the place down the few times I visited. 😊

One of the greatest libaries in Norway. They even have music instruments you can practise with. The new youth-section is realy great, and wherever you are, you can always find something that you want to read.

Very nice public library, children's books in several languages are available. Right now there are limits for how many people can be inside because of Corona

I can't see that I can use my Norgeskortet to borrow from the whole country. Why or what do I need to do to get this access?
