Absolutely awful experience. Don't even know where to start. The nurses have no idea what's going on or how to get anything done. My husband was admitted to the hospital with a 104 fever and wasn't seen by the necessary specialist for almost 24 hours. When the specialist came, he told us that nobody called him until a couple hours ago and there wasn't a fever notated in his chart. He told us my husband's ultrasound looked fine and when my husband said he had pain, the doctor said "I can't see pain" and that he couldn't help us. He went so far as to say "You can't feel your kidney" which is nonsense because I'm sure people feel their kidney when they have kidney stones. He walked out of the exam room after giving us these responses and left us with no guidance. My husband would later get a CT scan that nobody could review for two days. Apparently all the doctors leave the hospital at 1pm and can't be reached until the following day. Must be nice to work 4-5 hour days! The attending would not let us leave until a certain doctor looked at the scan but nobody seemed to know who that doctor was. We were told if we left AMA, my husband would not be given any medicine. After 24 hours of everyone trying to get this mystery doctor to look at the scan, we were finally discharged. This medicine that was being held over our heads ended up not even being called into the pharmacy. We had to drive back hours later to get the physical script because the staff couldn't even manage calling in a prescription. By the time we got the script to the pharmacy they were closed for the weekend so now we have no medicine for my husband after they held us hostage for him to be discharged with it. I have a three page document that I will be submitting as a report notating all the negligence and incompetence of this hospital to the necessary institutions. NEVER go to this hospital.

Arrived at 7 pm, was in this hospital for 7 hours, my fiancé was having heart palpitations and signs of infection among other things, had us wait in the waiting room for 3 hours and when I asked the front desk what was taking so long they told me it wasn't first come first serve and was based on urgency, which is fine, but they let somebody in that showed up way after us and apparently she got in the head with a basketball and she looked fine. Personally I believe it has more to do with what insurance you have vs another persons because my fiance doesn't have great insurance. When we got a room finally, I wasn't very impressed, but one of the male nurses we had was great, I wish I got his name.

My sister was there for two weeks and was treated badly. There were a few nurses that were very nice, but Nurse Mackenzie and Andy where very nasty and rude. There was also a tech who tried to put a pic line in, but had trouble and was handling her very rough and hurting her. Also, when she was discharged, there were no instruction on what her care should be, only the medication which she needed to take. The Dr. Empedrad prescribed her with Ozempic and never explained how to use or it it is in addition to any other of her diabetic medicine. My sister never was told how much fluid she should be drinking. In the hospital they had her on 1,000 milliliters and since she got home on Christmas Day, she's only been drinking 12 fluid ounces a day and that is not enough because she is in so much pain with cramping in her legs. She said that's what she was told to only drink. That can't be true. I spoke with Lisa who took over for Mr. Friedman and she said she'll get back to me, and it's been over a week and never heard back. This hospital treats people like dogs.

Was in the ER for a few hours and just got blood work done. They found nothing wrong with my blood work so they decided to release me. I came in feeling faint and dizzy and had pressure on my head and wasn’t sure what the problem was. I suffer from epilepsy but since the blood work came back fine they decided it was fine to release me without a diagnosis. Horrible hospital.

Fell and broke my hip last September. Went to RWJ by ambulance which was the worst experience in my life. They were horrible and had no idea what to do. I get to the ER and waited in complete agony. Was told I had covid which if I did it was very mild. Because of that I was completely isolated. To make this short I waited a week fighting just to get any pain relief. I'm a bone cancer patient and was already taking something for my pain but was treated like a dog because I wanted and needed my pain meds. Laid in a freezing cold room totally isolated for 7 days.I was never in my life treated so badly as the time I was in that hospital. That's just part of what happened to me there. I can't tell the whole thing because it was such a horrible experience . I just know that I will never ever go back to that place . They were cruel , disrespectful and I was put in a room and ingorned for a week before they did anything more than just the x-ray the first night I was there. If you value your life or time I suggest you travel a bit further than Hamilton and go to a real hospital that has standards and caring staff. RWJ shouldn't even be called a health-care facility. They tortured me. I thought I was going to die in there and I am being totally honest. It's been over a year since and I still have nightmares about the 14 or 15 days I was there. I gave them 1 star and that's being generous, they don't even deserve that as far as my experience. People beware, unless things changed drastically there, stay away.

The nurses are a breath of fresh air and I could literally cry. I’ve been to other hospitals in the area and after covid, they’re all terrible - traumatizing actually. These nurses really care, they’re overworked and literally still have amazing bedside manners. Regardless of the wait time in the ER (which lately seems to be high anywhere) it’s worth the wait. The doctors are also thorough, my grandmother was taken care of here as well but unfortunately passed away. But I find comfort that she was taken care of.

This hospital has gotten so bad. E.R wait time is ridiculous and once you get in the back they put you in a room to wait longer. One doctor on night shift is not good. In pain ,and watching them eat Wendy's while you sit and wait some more to get pain meds, and be prepared for a Cat Scan. Terrible and makes you want to stay home and suffer. It is 1:30 in the morning, and been here since around 10:00p.m. Don't have meds, seen no nurse for bloodwork, and no prep for Cat Scan. This is what American medicine has become. They sure do make sure they get your insurance though before they service you. I would give a 0 rate if it was an option.

My mom visted ER recently and the nurse there was horrible. Her name is Caroline and her behavior was very rude and unprofessional. We had couple of incidents where she presented a improper behavior. This is a worst experience we have ever had and it felt like we were discriminated. PLEASE AVOID GOING TO THIS HOSPITAL. She didn’t give my mom food, water or even a spoon even after the doctor cleared her to eat. She said “she is going home, she can eat after she goes home”. Caroline slammed the door and she was rude when as asked for help.

Elective surgery with an overnight stay here 2 weeks ago was an amazing experience. I felt very cared for from the moment I was at registration, noticed great safety measures taken by all who worked with me (surgical and nursing unit staff), and was attended by skilled and compassionate nurses and techs over 3 shifts. I credit my quick recovery to the wonderful care I received from the beginning to the end of my admission.

Disgusting joke of a hospital. Came in horribly sick, just handed a mask and was told to wait. 2 hrs later see nurse and was told my blood pressure was critically high then go back out, wait, sent to another nurse asking the same exact list of questions and told to wait again then watched the entire er go in before me and even people who just came in go in before me. incompetent staff who have no idea whats going on and are as rude as they are useless. At 4 hrs of waiting was told i was next and 4 other people went in. Told them again what is going on, is anything done? No because that would require a shred of care or concern which they blatantly show they dont.got to the point where if i kept waiting i would be there all night with no ride. And told them to just forget it . Waiting for them to have the audicity to send a bill when i was never seen or helped which i know theyll try to scheme..Can completely understand the horrible ratings. If youre sick or dying dont come here . Puke buckets left everywhere too. Dirty slow trashy hospital. Incompetent staff all around.first time i ever left a waiting room because of horrible staffing. Just a giant scam to keep people waiting forever in waiting room and er. Wasnt trying to be there all night so had to uber home after 4 hrs of waiting. Hope they shut down because they are pure trash

Please accept my most heart felt thank you. My father, Michael Evans, recently spent 5 days in hospice care at RWJ room 4219 before passing. All of the staff from the janitors to the doctors were very kind and compassionate. But the nurses were an absolute blessing and the level of benevolence shown was truly so helpful in those tough times. Thank you all so much for all that you do.

Horrible hospital! I have had horrible experiences in the ER multiple times. The worst was my son was transferred from urgent care by ambulance because he had covid and was in & out of consciousness so urgent care wanted him further evaluated. We were left in an empty er for 2 hours. He fell asleep on me when he woke up he just wanted to go home and rest so we left extremely disgusted. Now my father was just admitted on Monday per his drs at Penn medicine because he is undergoing cancer treatments and his sodium dropped dangerously low. It took 6 hrs for him to be admitted, and they were incredibly rude, once admitted they gave him too much fluids and he needed oxygen because his lungs took on too much water. He was there for 5 days barely any tests were run, they still didn’t find out why his sodium was very low they were able to bring it up but not to the normal levels. One of his drs had such bad bedside manner i will be filling a compliant with the medical board against her with how rude and how little compassion she showed toward a terminally I’ll patient. Won’t ever go back we will only be dealing with Penn Medicine from now on.

Every time my family has visited the emergency area the wait time has been at least 4 hours. On our latest visit the triage nurse was seeing others with less severe injuries before us. As it turned out my member was in such severe pain and that we decided to go to Urgent care who fortunately were considerate enough to notice the severity of the situation and called an ambulance so that the staff at RWJ Hamilton would see the member sooner. Come to find out that they needed to have emergency surgery. Very dissatisfied with their service to say the least. Wish there was another hospital in the area.

Poor service at ER . Triage is quickly setting up your records on the system but the attention after that is done takes more than 5 hours wait. Nurses at the front desk just get away with the reason that they don't have any available rooms for you. But is seems other people have been seen in between even if they don't have rooms. First time Here but last time too. If I ask a question in good manner to one of themat the counter and the other nurse came out of nowhere yelling their reason why I'm not being seen in front of everyone and then she spokes even louder for everyone to know --don't come ask anymore because this goes for everybody!, how you going to feel about it?

My dad suffered unnecessarily here. They were very understaffed, so my dad had to wait long periods between when he pressed the call button and when a nurse came to help him. To top it off, a doctor told him and our family that I could drop off a small grocery bag of things for him and wave to him from the hallway (he had covid, so I couldn’t go into his room). When I got to the hospital, the nurses turned me away and wouldn’t even let me leave the small bag for him. They said nothing was allowed into the hospital, which is funny because they gladly accepted the meals we had delivered to them earlier. My dad fell into a coma three days later, and we never got to see each other one last time before he passed away.

This hospital is horrible!! I went here for a work related injury snd I told them that this will be billed through workmen's compensation insurance. This incident happened in November 2022. I gave them the information for my job and who to contact. Why am I still getting medical bills sent to me asking me to pay??? This is ILLEGAL. This hospital needs to stop sending me bills and send it to the appropriate party!!! Now they have me in collections over something I am not responsible for!?!?!

To the greedy CEOs leaving your “healthcare heroes” in the lurch: Give your nurses health insurance and improve patient-to-provider ratios you greedy parasites!!!!!!!! Nurses sacrificed everything during the worst of COVID and this is what they get?????? There is no world in which this should be acceptable behavior.

The worst experience of my life! I literally left the hospital after spending 4 hours sitting in pain and so many people who came after us who did not require immediate attention were taken ahead of us. They are definitely short of staff i feel.

I had an orthopedic surgery at the hospital and my experience was excellent. I received such wonderful care from the physicians, nurses, and all the OR and recovery room staff. The physical therapists met me in the recovery room and worked with me so that I could return home the same day. Everyone was very professional and the care was excellent. Thank you Robert Wood Johnson Hamilton Staff for a great experience!

I had right hip replacement surgery performed last month. It went very smooth with no complications. All nurses and medical people were outstanding and were there anytime that I needed something. Their help to me got me through all the initial physical disabilities that this type of surgery exhibits.

I am very grateful to ER doctors and nurses (4/22/23) and hospital staff (4/23-4/24) for taking a great care of my husband. This is the first time in our lives we had to call the ambulance and I didn't know what to expect. Everyone treated us with compassion and understanding. It was what appeared to be a sepsis and they admitted him to a hospital. My husband could barely walk. Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart for putting him back on his feet! I don't remember everyone's names, but thanks so much. We are very grateful 🙏

Amazing Care & Customer Service! My daughter dislocated her shoulder. We arrived to a very busy waiting room. The team noticed she was in excruciating pain and took her on within minutes. The ER Doctor and the nurse team were kind, courteous, considerate and quick to help identify the issue at hand a quickly resolve my daughter’s issue relieving her pain. We are so grateful for the high level of professional care provided in a friendly & efficient and clean environment. RWJ Hospital At Hamilton is truly an asset to our community and for that we are very grateful.

My 88 year old mother had surgery at RWJ and the nurses were fantastic, caring and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the facility is antiquated. The waiting room for families was 12'x12', not allowing room for everyone. Their communication was terrible. When there wasn't room for us in the waiting room, we sat across the hall. The doctor attempted to call me once and when it didn't "go through" they just admitted my mother even though she was supposed to go home. Once PT cleared her, it took 4 hours for the surgeon to write the order for discharge. It made for an unnecessarily long day. This is not a Patient-Centered facility.

My mother had knee surgery back in February of this year. After the surgery she was transferred to the orthopedic floor and everyone we came into contact after my mothers surgery and recovery in the hospital were fantastic. One of the nurses on the floor his name was Emmanuel but everyone called him Manny, He went above and beyond helping my mother every step of the way from the moment she got transferred to the floor to discharge. You can tell he has the passion and got into nursing for all the right reasons.

The doctor and nurses on site were great. This review is aimed at the security guard on site. My cousin had a concussion and was delirious christmas night. Got to the hospital at 11:15pm. The security guard would not give a mask to my cousins little brother, and told us that only one person can stay with the patient due to covid restrictions. This did not make any sense as there was a family of four adults seated together in the waiting room and there was almost noone else ij the waiting room as well. My little cousin had to wait in the car for 4 hours while it was 15 degress outside. He is a minor. The reasoning by the security guard was proven faulty and there needs to be better policies in place for situations like this. Very disappointed in the attitude of the security and front desk staff. Very disrespectful. P.S. what kind of staff would tell me to get the wheelchair for my cousin and not get it themselves and assist in getting her in it??? Instead they get up to grab the pizza delivery that just arrived...

The staff in the emergency room is quite possibly the worst staff in any emergency room in the State of New Jersey. The way my daughter was treated was an absolute disgrace. I'm shocked that anyone is a "licensed" medical professional given the treatment provided. If I could have given no stars I would have. Fortunately, I am a paralegal and I happen to work with some amazing attorneys.

I went in for a heart condition and the nurses and doctors were extremely professional and attentive. Im very grateful. My experience with the check in nurse (short haired thin woman /glasses who was working in the ER on 1/22/22) was not so great. I had to remind her she was there to help me not be annoyed I couldn’t remember my medication.

I have had to come here twice in the span of 10 months apart and I can say that the first time lacked in certain parts where my second time was an improvable to their service. The first time I was here they came in and out of my room without telling me what they were doing and would wake me out of my sleep all hours of the night and day. I could barely sleep in those 3 days I was there. They told me I would have surgery the second day I was there and the doctor didn’t come into my room until 8-9 at night at which I had already eaten a few hours before because I was hungry and couldn’t take not eating after all day long. The second time I was there I was able to sleep more and was told more often about what service the nurse would come in my room for. My only problem again is there is no communication between nurses and doctors from both times. I had the same doctor twice and was never informed when he would come see me. He ended up coming into my room late at night to talk to me. Another problem was that I kept getting poked numerous times because I’m a “hard stick” so now there are many bruises on my arms for not even getting it correctly in. I let them know before that I had issues the first time but they continued not to listen and still poked me. Anyways the food there sucks too so I give it three stars for the service and food.

Was admitted to a hospital for the first time in my life. I stayed on Lake Front Tower 2. The nurses were exceptionally caring, compassionate and attentive. I don't remember all of their names, I only remember Mary Beth and Danely. The head nurse, Nancy, came to see me everyday to make sure I received excellent care. My room was a nice private room. The embassador who delivered the food was very pleasant, Maria.

I do not know why this hospital has a low rating. Last week I had my 2nd knee replacement there. The orthopedic ward is exemplary. From the anesthesiologist to the surgeon to the nurses and the PT/OT department, I was very well taken care of. A solid 5 stars from me!

HORRIBLE Emergency Room staff!!! We took our 13 y/o to their ER with a shoulder injury. He was in complete AGONY, screaming in pain the whole time. The receptionist was more concerned with handing me a paper mask! We waited a good 1/2 hour in the near empty waiting room (NO TRIAGE AT ALL) until finally an extremely rude, incompasionte, tatted up male nurse (who told us to be patient - clearly no kids of his own!) pushed our son into room #2, where he waited and waited and waited, all while screaming in pain. A staff member did stop by to close the door so they didnt have to hear him, which was a nice touch. They just left him screaming for well over an hour before finally taking an x-ray. Someone did stop by to make sure they had all of our insurance information so we are properly overcharged for the subpar service. After over 2 hours he received a cheap sling and some liquid tylenol. All of the ER staff (other than the few good ones) AND managment should be forced to go through what my son did so they can experience the thrid world level of care they provide. We should have went to Patient First, which offers much better care. I would strongly recommend not going to this business unless its truly life and death. UPDATE: New estimate of $1,500!!! PLUS another $800 for the Dr.that saw him for less than 3 minutes. Wow!!!! Criminal! Patient First would have been 10% of that, with much better care 10/30/23 Actually called as requested and left two voice-mails with no return call..... their response is nothing but lip service in an attempt to make them seem like they care on a public platform.

I recently had surgery at RWJBarnabus in Hamilton and it was a very positive experience. From the staff at check in through recovery, an overnight stay, until I was wheeled out, everyone I dealt with was kind and attentive. My hospital room and bathroom were clean and easy to maneuver. My nursing team, day and evening, was pleasant, responsive, helpful. They ensured I was comfortable, helped me sit up and walk, explained medication, and came if I requested them. Food service came quickly and was good too. I would highly recommend RJWBarnabus in Hamilton if you need a hospital stay.

Everyone in ICU was extremely accommodating and patient. My brother was admitted and spent many days irritated because he was unable to eat for days. The only reason why I'm not listing 5 stars is because the nurse Navjot was extremely rude, not only to my brother, but also to my father. She could not find my brothers vein and put two bags of potassium into my brothers arm even after my brother cried and yelled from the pain. She said she's been a nurse for 10 years. Please please please be careful of the techs that are watching over your loved ones. This nurse ruined the entire experience for us when everyone else was extremely patient and accommodating to my brothers needs.

This review is not for the hospital but for the application for employment. I was TRYING to apply for a Host/Hostess position which is serving food to patients. Not sure how these two positions are the same but I should have been applying for a brain surgeon position because the application process is ridiculous. Two hours it took me to get through this application, and I was asked the most insane questions. There is absolutely NO WAY half of those people working at this hospital filled out that application. Then, after two GRUELING hours of questions that even an FBI agent wouldn’t have to answer, there was an assessment test of 114 stupid questions. THIS IS A FOOD SERVER POSITION PEOPLE! ARE YOU SERIOUS? I hope you’re able to find someone with a doctorate degree to do that job because I doubt anybody with serving experience would waste their time on such nonsense.

My husband John had a total knee replacement on Feb. 2. His experience with appointments, scheduling, testing, admittance, surgery, his stay, and discharge was flawless. The hospital staff was extremely attentive. (The cafeteria's pot roast- excellent!) We would go to no one other than Dr. Michael Duch (RWJ Orthopedic & Spine Institute) for our family's orthopedic needs. The staff of the O & S Institute has always been professional and courteous. The communication system (text and email) is very good. There are consistent reminders to check-in, appointments, and other necessary information. I would advise patients to avail themselves of the RWJ Patient Portal.

My Father was recently admitted and he had a Great expereince from start to finish. The ER staffing were awesome, the Radiology testing areas were awesome, and his stay on LFT1 was awesome. He felt comfortable and secure there for his stay and anytime he rang his call bell, staff arrived immediately. He had several tests, and each Practitioner he saw was very kind and helped him. Thank you Robert Wood Johnson Hamilton for all you do.

I was recently brought into the emergency room and exceptional care was provided. Doctor Gojaniuk, ER Nurses Bernie and Gia, and ER Nursing Director Tammy provided outstanding care and made me feel comfortable during a stressful and scary time. The MRI and CAT scan staff were very helpful and explained the procedures to helped alleviate any fears. I’m glad this is where I was taken, thank you all for providing such great care.

I was brought to RWJ Hamilton’s ER by ambulance in critical condition. I was in an unfamiliar place, an hour away from home, and in no condition to give information or figure out what needed to be done. Within minutes of my arrival, a team swooped in, did a thorough evaluation, and sprang into action to save me. I will always be grateful to all of the staff who not only saved me, but also comforted and cared for me as I began to stabilize and the worry set in. An especially big thank you to Cynthia. All I can say is that she went above and beyond! Impressively, that was just the beginning. The care and attention I received throughout my six day hospitalization was beyond any expectation one could have. Nurses such as Feliciana, Lester, and Allison in the ICU should be the model that all nurses strive to be like. As busy as they were, they always seemed to be there for me and made me feel as though I was the only patient they were responsible for. There was nothing I could even ask for because they anticipated my every need. I can safely say that the entire GI department is incredible. Having seen three doctors during my stay, along with having one procedure, I have to say WOW! Each doctor was caring and concerned, and took the time to sit and speak with me; asking questions as well as making suggestions and creating a plan. No surprise that the team down in the department responsible for the procedures were just as wonderful. I’ll admit to having been nervous, but they cured me of that instantly. I felt as though they were members of my family who were caring for me. I was so grateful that they took the extra time to put me at ease before we began. The final leg of my journey was to the fourth floor. No one ever wants to be in the hospital, but if you are, I suggest you try to be put on that floor. Every nurse on the floor went out of their way to do whatever they could to ensure that I was cared for and comfortable. They instinctively knew when to step away so I could rest, and when to talk or make a joke to lighten the mood. I will add that the room was designed in a way that it didn’t even feel like it was in a hospital. The last acknowledgement that needs to be made is Nutrition. Describing them as ready, willing, and able does not do them justice. The menu was filled with many choices, and the food was excellent. They helped you make the best selection based on what was best for your needs and your preferences. A very special thank you to Darlene who brought each meal with not just a smile, but a heaping dose of TLC. I could keep going on, but the truth is that words do not begin to express my gratitude to each and every person at RWJ Hamilton. It is clear that they have high expectations, and they recruit only the best people to come and work there. While I can not say I am happy that I had to stay in the hospital, I can emphatically say that I AM happy that my stay was at RWJ Hamilton. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

I was having an out patient procedure done at the RWJ facility, and was nervous about it. But from the moment I walked into the hospital I was feeling at ease. Everyone was friendly and supportive. They took their time with me, I never felt rushed or like I was just a number. The entire experience was just easier than I have ever had at other places. I give Robert Woods Johnson hospitality… A+++

I needed to get a quick mammogram ultra sound and biopsy last mintue per my dr before surgery and Olivia Onorati did an excellent with helping me get a biopsy in and scheduled ASAP!!! She was super sweet and pleasant and helpful and kept me in the loop constantly about fitting me in for an appt. I had my appt today and from the time I walked into the front desk and check in to the time of leave made the visit pleasant and easy. Dr. A. Burgos who did my biopsy and his Nurse Nicole were so excellent as well as their assistant. They made me feel verh comfortable and very welcomed. They made sure I wasn't in any pain and thoroughly explained everything from start to finish and the after care. Everyone was so awesome!! Great experience!!!
