Temple site contains the remains of a large temple from the late Paramara period. The incomplete archi tectural design and the foundation stones suggest that the construction remained unfinished. One can also see a small mosque made using pillars from the 8th and 9th centuries. There is also a stepwell from the 17th century on the same campus which is worth a visit. The well has two tall pillars depicting scenes from Krishna's life. The temple was built in a style called bhumjia, developed by the Parmars. The Bhumija shikhara based on a stellate plan is divided into quadrants by four latas or off sets. Each lata, in turn has five rows of miniature shrines or towers called acdicule. The hall has three entrances from east, north and south. Here it seems there was western entrance too. The whole complex including seven subsidiary shrines is placed on a high broad platform. Here the temple probably was a panchayatana and had five shrines. The ruins are still found and there is a bauli ( step well). There is also an interpretation centre where a lot of artefacts are preserved. A must visit place when you visit Bhopal. One can easily take a bus ride to this place.

This gem of a place lies neglected mostly as ppl who live in the vicinity suggest visiting it. I didn't know about it living roughly 50kms away. It was built in the 11th century and doesn't require tickets to take a quick look at the closed temple and step well structure. But the museum requires 20 or 25 rupees as an entry fee if you want to click with a DSLR. Its well maintained but could have better advertising to promote it.

Best example where mughals destroyed beautiful temple and built ugly mosque. You can feel it when you see the site. The broken stones of temple is kept near by temple, where you can witness the craftsman ship of 11th century. It was built by Paramara kings during Raja Bhoj period. Later Aurangazeb built Mosque over by destroying the temple. There is a meuseum in same premises, which has many sculptures but it will be closed on Friday. So if you are visiting on Friday avoid it. Must visit and know the reality of Indian history.

Bija Mandal is a very beautiful Hindu temple which was built in the 11th century. Now, there are only ruins to see. Here we can see the remains of one of the biggest temple. It is one of the perfect example of a very beautiful temple being destroyed by the mughals. A museum is also present within the premises

Originally an 11th century historic temple, this was desecrated by Mughal King Aurangzeb and a mosque was built over it. However the old structures and idols have been significantly well preserved and can be observed in compound as well as an exhibition within compound. Many idols and inscriptions dating back to 11th century can be found here.

Bijamandal, which is popularly known as Vijayamandira Temple, is located in Vidisha, the headquarters of the Vidisha District. Constructed in the 11th century, this temple was destroyed in the year 1682. After its demolition, Aurangzeb, the Mughal emperor, constructed a mosque called Alamgiri Masjid, at the site. The material of the destroyed temple was used in the construction of this mosque. Out of all the ruins that can be seen at the site, one of the pillars bears an inscription which suggests that the original temple was dedicated to Goddess Charchika. The same inscription also bears the name of King Naravarman and Goddess Vijaya, after whom the temple is believed to be named. A large temple of the late Paramara period, it is believed to have been constructed in the second half of the 11th century. The mosque made using pillars and dating from the 8th and 9th centuries is located on top of the temple plinth. One pillar of the temple has a devotional inscription of King Naravarman. Many sculptures collected in the neighbourhood are housed in a storehouse located nearby. The premises of the temple also contain a 7th century step-well along with two tall pillars adorned with Krishna scenes.

Ancient Vishnu temples in ruins. The structure must have been very imposing. There are several pieces on the garden and hope one day ASI will reconstruct and bring back the glory of this temple.

Large Temple Ruins from 11th Century AD. Site has many excavated structures and sculptures. The base of the temple is very large and we can only envision of how big the temple must have been over here. The temple also has basement and tunnel connecting Udaigiri Caves. The basement and tunnel has been permanently closed for tourists. Some very rare artifacts have been excavated from this site. Some portion of the Monument is in very depleted state and needs immediate attention to maintain the glory of the site. Must visit if you are around Sanchi as it is just 20min drive from Sanchi.

(Visited in September 2019) - Originally built as a temple dedicated to Goddess Charchika/Chandika by Paramara Rajput king Naravarma in c.11th/12th Century, it was later converted into a mosque during Aurangzeb's times. The temple is alleged to be in the class of Konark Sun temple and that's a fact anyone would understand after seeing the ruins.

A great historical place, also known as Vijay Mandir(Bija Mandal), this temple was built in 11th century AD. The temple was destroyed by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and a mosque was constructed here. The temple has a garden with a no. of bamboo trees. Also an ancient बावड़ी(stepwell) is present here which still contains water, although it is impure. The garden has tons of exquisite statues which are nearly 1000 years old.

Very great place to explore. It was found inside a slum. An ancient historic place which is very much important in present India but still very less people know about this. The central vista project of new indian parliament building got inspired from this 11-12 century ancient temple. A must visit place if you are passing through Vidhisha.

Bija Mandal is situated in District Vidisha, near Dindayal Gulab Vatika, Madhya Pradesh. It's an archaeological survey of India's site where many findings discovered under exploration near Vidisha and its surroundings are displayed. This was a temple site of Parmara period and Bija mandal is built on the same site of 11th century. Here stone sculptures, door jambs, decorated Pillars, decorated ceilings, decorated pillar heads and ornamented stone blocks etc of National Importance belongs to the ancient period of Mauryan, Shunga, Guptas, Parmara, Medieval period etc are displayed in open and shed. A mosque which is closed was built during the reign of Aurangzeb and an ancient Step well which is unique and Radhakrishna's stories are sculpted it's assumed to be of pre Parmara period. It's a historical and ancient place close to the Heliodorus Garuda Capital.
