Great meat and environment. The food tastes great, but you pay for that. Wine chart is also slightly overpriced, and service could improve.

Very good food, expensive but in line with the expectations!

Excellent food, lost 2 stars because of the HORRENDOUS waiting time, we didn't even order the meat that takes 30 mins to cook and we had to wait 1 hour, at the least, after we had finished our appetizers. The waiters' eyes truly don't function, the table is empty of food and they have to ask us to put the food in the grill... when there's no food on the table. Very dissapointed

Not the biggest fan of the meat as it was not really tender. The staff is friendly. Toilets are ok. Take in count that you will smell like woodfire after your visit, your jackets and everything. The place is very old and historical. I can recommend to go there once. I will not return.

This was an interesting experience and no way what I expected. Great game, venison and deer. The mushroom sauce on the venison was astounding. This place is quaint, old and beautiful. It's just missing menus in English... But I'm told that's a common thing in Belgium.

We had a lovely evening at De Hoef, sitting close to the fire place enjoying our food and conversations without any haste. It is great place to spend time with your family or friends.

Old school tavern with good food and loyal local family clientele that have been going for decades.

Excellent service in this everso well-known restaurant. However the tables are far too crammed together, making you party to the conversation of the people next door whether you wish it or not; and each table is itself far too small to carry comfortably plates and dishes for four. Also, lovely though the open fire is, it's far too hot even on a day when the outside temperature is below zero. The food is good, but not exceptional. It was a nice event going to De Hoef though, and I'd go again but more realistically, without the hype and highest expectations.
