This is a long stretch of the wall which has been given to artists to paint in sections. The side of the wall along the main road has in excess of 100 murals with differing themes but freedom stands out the most. On going around today there are 3 sections which have been painted over so I guess someone will paint a mural in them. Currently there are some building works going on and about 150 metres has protection from the road however the wall is still there to see. This section of the wall has had the mural defaced with graffiti. The rear of the wall is blank apart from general graffiti. There is an ornate iron gate also built into wall. There is a grass area behind the wall with places to sit and a footpath that runs alongside the River Spree. I went about 1pm and it was fairly busy. The busiest part was the image of the leaders kissing. Well worth seeing and only 10 minutes walk from the East Side Mall.

If you ever get to Berlin you just got to visit the wall. Take your time and bring a comfortable pair of shoes. Each painting has to b looked at in detail....I actually recommend you go to the far side of the street to view them.. you will be amazed at just how much detail you will have missed if you don't. Enjoy

A walk down memory lane. Emotionally intense. please do not stop only in front of the most famous part, take a bit more time to go further. The wall is history, not only some kind of checklist for tourist. So take a few steps … It really worth it - and it s less crowded !!

Legendary place that looks so bright and hopeful despite it's historic background. It's an amazing methaphore for progress in German society- the wall that used to divide families became a canvas for art that unites everyone. The graffiti paintings are true art and definitely a must see! Get inspired by this amazing creativity display.

Absolutely breathtaking and very very deep. It's amazing to see how much of die Mauer is still standing today; painted over with beautiful, meaningful murals from artists all around the world. This place holds so much meaning and worth without needing any words to explain it. It's still extremely hard to believe how it separated Berlin just over 30 years ago. It is very easy to access via the U2 and being free, it is a must go to for any visitor to Berlin

One of must-see places in Berlin. I didn't know that the gallery is so long, but at least there is always something to look at. I have found my favorite paintings and I think that you will find something interesting by yourself too. Expect a lot of people that want to see the gallery, as much as you do. Because of that, the pedestrian walk is quite crowded and sometimes it's hard to make a clear shot of some painting. Alongside the gallery, there are information tables where you can hear mostly about the concrete paintings, and the stories of people living in the times when the Berlin wall was still existing and in use. No ticket for the gallery needed.

Really interesting to walk along such a historical place and look at the art on the wall sections. There's an audio tour you can do or just read the info on the boards. There's also the wall museum you can visit here.

Great gardens and palace was huge! I unfortunately didn’t get to go in! But it was worth visiting just for the gardens! They are amazing it goes from beautifully kept flower beds and paths that back onto a lake/pond, these when expand out into tree paths than more wild grass and less kept areas! The transition is really well done! And the palace itself is spectacular to look at and is gigantic!!

(Translated by Google) The castle garden is ideal for young and old and also happy together. Playground, lawns, endless winding paths for jogging and the lake to linger. Everything is so relaxed and thoughtful, even if very often very busy here.

(Translated by Google) A wonderful palace situated in a beautiful park (variety of flora and beautiful fountains). The palace itself is well-kept. 😍 The interior is rich and wonderfully preserved. 👍🏻 It's worth coming here for a walk with the whole family ... I especially recommend it on a warm spring day. 😁 (Original) Cudowny pałac położony w prześlicznym parku (różnorodność flory i prześlicznych fontann). East side gallery is also one of the major tourist attraction. It’s a perfect place for all the art lovers. The whole wall till the end showcases unique and creative artwork. Each wall is different from an other. Totally worth visiting this place in Berlin.

The East Side Gallery in Berlin is like a time-traveling street art history lesson. This stretch of the Berlin Wall is covered in awesome graffiti that tells a powerful story of unity beating division. Seriously, every mural is like a punch in the feels. It's emotional, man! When you go, just know it can get crazy busy, so maybe hit it up when the crowds aren't as nuts for a more chill vibe.

The gallery is murals that are painted on pieces of the former Berlin Wall. They have been in place for a number of years, from 1990, with a number of the murals, including the famous Fraternal Kiss, having been restored and in some cases repainted. There are a large number of wall sections painted and some of these can get quite busy with people wanting to take photographs. I suspect it would not be at bad at earlier times of the day.

The East Side Gallery is the largest open air gallery in the world. From February to September 1990, pictures were painted on 1316 meters of the Berlin Wall in Mühlenstrasse in East Berlin. More than 118 artists from 21 countries created 106 unique motifs that spoke of the joy at the fall of the wall on November 9, 1989 and the end of the Cold War in Europe.

(Translated by Google) "East Side Gallery is the longest open-air gallery in the world - 1361 meters! And at the same time it is the longest surviving fragment of the Berlin Wall. In work on 106 paintings painted on the east side of the wall (hence the name - east side), 118 artists from 21 countries took part in. The gallery opened on September 28, 1990. The most famous works are graffiti "Lord! Help me to survive among this mortal love" (or "Brotherly kiss") by Dmitry Vrubel, depicting the kiss of the General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee L.I. Brezhnev and the head of the GDR E. Honecker, and Test the Best Birgit Kinder (in the picture the famous GDR "paper" machine "Trabant", in common parlance "Trabi", breaks through the Berlin Wall) "(quote from the magazine Around the World dot ru) (Original) "East Side Gallery - это самая длинная в мире галерея под открытым небом — 1361 метр! В работе над 106 картинами, написанными на восточной стороне стены (отсюда и название — east side), приняли участие 118 художников из 21 страны. Галерея открылась 28 сентября 1990 года. Самые известные произведения — граффити «Господи! Помоги мне выжить среди этой смертной любви» (или «Братский поцелуй») Дмитрия Врубеля, изображающее поцелуй Генерального секретаря ЦК КПСС Л.И. Very beautiful palace in Charlotteburg. A must visit location in Berlin. Large space with large gardens all around with a lake at the edge of the palace. Beautiful fountains and walkways. A mausoleum in the middle and nature all around. It is worth while to go inside the palace as well by buying a ticket.

Amazing to visit this historic place full of stories to tell....its a good thing to keep in mind all the mistakes mankind did before and this place takes you there...always with Pink Floyd in my mind. The beauty of the artwork in the wall tries to disguise the tragedies of history...We forgive...but never forget!

The east side Gallery which is on the east side of Germany/Berlin is one of the nicest places to visit here. With so many walls full of graffiti and art and riverside views, one can easily hangout here for an entire day! This is also a Mercedes Benz Arena and a east side mall which houses almost everything. There are also ferry rides available here.

We walked here from Museum Island which was a bit of a trek! Some of the areas we walked through were distinctly dodgy and I wouldn't fancy visiting after dark. The gallery is on one of the few remaining sections of the Berlin Wall which sounds amazing but it is really just some concrete slabs. I saw nothing about what the wall was originally like, where the watchtowers were etc and it could have been anywhere. The art work varies and some you'll love, some you'll hate but there are certainly some powerful and iconic pieces there.

It's nothing but preserved Berlin wall on which different meaningful paintings has been drawn in 2009. East side gallery is street side wall with different painting.adding some clicks of wall. It will take 15-20 minutes for excursion.

An interesting walk. For most parts, one side of the wall (facing the road) is painted while the other side (facing the river) was either blank or had graffiti on it. It can get a little monotonous or difficult to view considering how near you are to the wall and the traffic as well. Nevertheless, worth a visit if you are in Berlin. Not a MUST see in my opinion.

The wall stretches a lot longer than we thought. We took time to enjoy every single graffiti so it took more than one hour to go from the other side to the other end. Lots of interesting graffitis, a lot of which imply the Cold War and historical events. Recommend to go there on a sunny day.

Visiting the East Side Gallery was an unforgettable experience. The vibrant and thought-provoking murals displayed on remnants of the Berlin Wall were not only artistically impressive but also deeply moving. Walking along this historic landmark was a powerful reminder of the resilience and spirit of unity. A must-see for anyone interested in art, history, and the human spirit.

It’s part of the history that worth visiting while you’re at Berlin. This place is less exciting compared to to lots of other museums that you find here. But if you had extra time, definitely go for it. There are some free street parking available, if not you can on the other side of the bridge.

The wall has a great history in itself which anyone visiting there would be keen to know and the art done on the wall is amazing. It is so beautiful. It feels like just grab a drink and take a good amount of walk along the wall. It was a great adventure for me to see the beautiful graffiti.

The iconic east side gallery is home to some very well known street art. A large open air gallery that once was the berlin wall. Is 1316 metres long and it accommodates art from 118 artists from 21 countries. It officially opened as an open air gallery on 28 September 1990. Just over a year later, it was given protected memorial status.

You can't miss this point of Berlin. It's very cool to see parts of what once was the Berlin eat and now see all the graffiti and beautiful views from the river. The wall museum, on the start of the strip, is all very cool and gives us a very good scope of the history of the wall. If you're visiting the museum, allow at east 2 hours for it if ou like reading all the things.

Historic place, one of the last pieces of the Wall of Berlin that is still in the original location. Amazing artworks from various graffiti artists. The best part, it's open air and free to visit. Just try to arrive a bit early so that you don't have to wait in order to take pictures Such a pity that they allowed property development literally on top of this monument. But I guess money makes the world go around and Berlin officials are obviously notorious money grabbers.

A casual walk down a portion of the infamous Berlin Wall, accompanied by the rich street-art heritage of the city, directly derived from the division and sorrow it caused and by the relief of its downfall. What better way to transform an unnatural barrier, a projection of ultimate control and repression, that to transform it into a raw canvas for all generations to admire - the metamorphosis of sorrow into art.

An awesome walk along the river with fantastic, intriguing street art to look on the wall along the way! It’s a great way to appreciate the history and culture of Berlin. Unfortunately I can’t give 5 stars as they were doing construction which interferes with your experience and view of the wall. If you’re visiting Berlin, I would still recommend a visit - I would also recommend going earlier in the morning as it’s much quieter and you can get some great pictures.

Impressive to see such a long stretch (1.2km I believe it is). It gives you some sense of how the real deal must have been. How much money and concrete must have gone into keeping people apart. Happy they kept this part as a reminder. The wall has a lot of paintings on it from the 1990’s, a year after it fell.

This is a must see tourist attraction when visiting Berlin. We all know (hopefully) that Berlin was a war zone and all those cold War things. This is a reminder of it. You can find chunks of the wall all over the city, but this is where the magic is. Lots of artists contributes to the art work, and I was fortunate to see one be painted the very time I was visiting! I recommend going at 20.00 when there's no people and you have the whole wall to yourself. But of course, you can always go during the day time, its got a different vibe to it then!

(Translated by Google) Berlin Wall or Berlin Wall (German: Berliner Mauer). It was a long wall that divided the city of Berlin in half, east and west, and the regions around it. The eastern part of Berlin was controlled by East Germany, backed by the Soviet Union, and the western part was under the control of West Germany, backed by America, France and England. The wall was built on August 13, 1961, so that there would be borders between the two countries and in order to stop the migration of East Berlin and East German residents to West Germany. The wall was heavily fortified and was impossible to cross without approval. The work of cracking the wall began on November 9, 1989, until the wall collapsed, and the city of Berlin was united, and then East and West Germany united and turned into Germany, its current name. A word of thanks will suffice (Original)

is a Baroque palace in Berlin, located in Charlottenburg, a district of the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf borough.The palace was built at the end of the 17th century and was greatly expanded during the 18th century. It includes much lavish internal decoration in baroque and rococo styles. A large formal garden surrounded by woodland was added behind the palace, including a belvedere, a mausoleum, a theatre and a pavilion. During the Second World War, the palace was badly damaged but has since been reconstructed. The palace with its gardens are a major tourist attraction.

Don’t be too excited about this. It’s just a long walk with murals. One of the high rated tourist attractions of Berlin besides the the river Spree. This place carries the historic memory of the world war II and the cold war. The Berlin wall that was built in after 1961 and felt in 9th November 1989 nicely decorated with graffiti during February to September of 1990 and later on repainted in 2009.

  • 4/5 Mohammed Rafsan H. 2 years ago on Google
A historical place in Berlin. This is only a wall that stands bearing the ancient barrier history between east and west Germany. Nothing special you will find here, except walls in two alignments. I can't confirm, but it might be of no man's land between the two alignments from the partition period. There is a gate within the wall. You will find graffiti on the walls in either direction in both walls. Some graffiti in a sense based on remembering historical events, while some are abstract. So it could be an attractive visiting place for a first time visitor but not for the dweller in the Berlin.

Intresting historical place. This wall used to separate East and West of Berlin during Cold War.It symbolizes physically the "Iron Curtain" that separated Western Europe and the Eastern Block. In 1989 after the fell of wall, it became memorial and cultural place and artists made out of it open-air art gallery. The most famous painting is of course "the kiss"

Im really glad that you can see it all for free and even just for its existance! Its an awesome walk with beautiful photos. My goal was the painting with Brezhnev and Honecker kissing and I started to lose hope in one moment but don't give up, its there, just keep going! Nearly there is Mercedes Benz are with another meaningful art, which is just great to see ^^ Also there is a souvenir shop, a little one but definitely worth checking out ^^ Many many inspiring quotes great for relaxing, work with many thoughts. Not every piece was my cup of tea so I believe everybody will find something for himself/herself.

Amazing! Appreciate the wall is kept and artists from all over the world able to express their meaning and artwork on the Berlin Wall. The wall is not too long to walk along and on the other side of the gallery there are stairs and the waterfront to sit with a view. Although the info (QR code) signs for each of the artwork could be maintained or replaced. It is also east to get to, and across the street is also the Mercedes Benz arena, shopping mall, and other activities in the area after your tour.

The East Side Gallery is an impressive monument that gives you a glimpse into the city’s past, present and future. Stretching over 1km along the banks of river spree, this open-air gallery of murals created by artist from all over the world depicts themes of joy, hope, and peace. I found myself captivated by the variety of stories illustrated through the artworks. From political statements to personal messages, each mural gives a unique insight into the people and culture that helped shape this remarkable city. The pieces not only celebrate freedom but also provide a reminder of the importance of respecting and protecting it. Definitely a site not to be missed when visiting Berlin.

Iconic, to say the least. So much history before this one was born. Incredible perspective on what we think of a turbulent political environment we live in now. Improve what you can, treasure the good that you have.

It was interesting to see the famous street art done on the memorial wall. Some of them with really deep meanings and messages related to war and the desire for peace. I walked there in the night with my husband and my stepson. It was quiet and I felt safe, I just didn't like how dirty and unkempt the place looked in some spots.

Very nice monument to remind you that nothing is impossible- this part of the wall never would have seen a paint if the wall wouldn’t have been smashed- impressive „post - fall“ art .. showing the mood/ hopes and dreams of the 90-is - reminding you that some of them are still valid or even the hot topic of today ( Russia, climate.. ) .. one star missing as this is not a usual tourist sight and not protected „ from interference by current artists“

Very nice area, the colorful wall is impressive and painful at the same time. It’s a nice area to hang out near the river. There are usually young people there, there’s often someone performing some music.

I have always wanted to visit this place ever since I learnt about the breaking of the Berlin Wall and the unification of Germany, and I think this is a great way to celebrate openness and unity. This public place is full of intriguing art pieces from some of the best and talented artists from Germany.

Very touristic but impressive anyway. Luckily it hasn't become an commercial attraction. The wall is painted with artist impressions at the West side and the regular graffiti on the East side. We enjoyed sitting down at the waterfront across the Mercedes Benz arena. Artists were playing music and everybody seemed to taste the sense of freedom. Get a drink and/or eat pizza at ZOLA!

It is amazing to walk the length of the wall, learn some of the history, and see some fantastic artwork. A really great way to end our trip, I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Berlin.

Truly great place to visit. The art work on the Berlin Wall is amazing. This is a real piece of history and you can only just imagine what it was like before the wall was torn down. If you go to Berlin this is an absolute must to visit. Plus there is a nice cafe right next to it. Martha's Cafe. If it hadn't started pouring rain I would have stayed longer but I will definitely be revisiting on my next trip.

A top place to visit in Berlin. It's only part of Berlin where you have Berlin Wall present. You can read about bit of History of it there but the best things are the painting and the art on that wall. It's a long stretch of wall with a lot of different paintings present on the wall. If you go behind the walls and if you have seen some previous documentary on Berlin Wall then you can surely feel everything that would have seen. Where were the mines, the river crossing challenge etc.

An amazing outside gallery surrounded by such great history. Love the East Side Gallery because there is just so much to see all for free. It’s particularly great to see so much beautiful artwork on something that used to represent something so horrific. This is something great for people of all ages to go and see, however, bare in mind, it can get very busy at times and you may not be able to see certain artwork unless you wait for a while.

The perfect place to immerse yourself in the authenticity of the Berlin Wall. . We stayed at the hotel right next to the wall and found the park and wall remains amazing. . Here you can really begin to imagine the divide between the east and west side and picture the true scale of the wall along the main street. . The street art now dominates the remains and this in itself is a real treat to absorb. . 100% this is the place to visit to experience the 'wall'

We enjoyed the afternoon strolling along the East Side Gallery. The kids loved reading the messages and looking at the art murals. There are a lot of shops and restaurants in the area at the Mercedes Benz Arena plaza. Definitely plan to spend a few hours here!

If you are visiting Berlin, you should go see the remains of the Berlin Wall at the East Side Gallery. You can find it easily on a sightseeing bus tour if you don't feel comfortable finding it on your own.Artists from all over the world have painted lots of pictures on a long part of the Wall, and there are many different ones to see. You can take pictures and learn more about it. The Gallery is a very special place that helps you understand how big the Wall really is. Don't skip it.

Went on a wet Monday evening as part of our 24 hours in Berlin. It was well lit so we didn’t miss out by visiting in the evening. Easily accessible by train.
