The World Time Clock, also known as the Weltzeituhr, is a prominent landmark located in Alexanderplatz, Berlin. It is a fascinating and practical piece of art that represents the time zones across the globe. Designed by Erich John and unveiled in 1969, the World Time Clock consists of a large stainless steel structure with a cylindrical shape. The clock features a world map in the form of a mosaic, displaying the major cities and their respective time zones. The map is adorned with colorful tiles, which add to the clock's vibrant and eye-catching appearance. The clock serves a practical purpose by providing the current time in various cities around the world. Each city is represented by a ring on the map, and the current time for that location is indicated by a small light. This feature makes it a valuable tool for locals and tourists alike, as it enables quick and convenient reference to different time zones. Beyond its functionality, the World Time Clock has become an iconic meeting point and a symbol of Alexanderplatz. Its central location in one of Berlin's busiest squares makes it a hub of activity, bustling with locals and visitors alike. The clock's unique design and captivating presence make it a popular spot for gathering and taking photographs. The World Time Clock is not only a useful timepiece but also an art installation that reflects Berlin's spirit and cosmopolitan nature. It represents the interconnectedness of the global community and serves as a reminder of the importance of time, communication, and international connections. Whether you're checking the time, meeting friends, or simply immersing yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Alexanderplatz, the World Time Clock offers a distinctive and memorable experience that combines functionality with artistic expression.

A really cool little site tucked away at the foot of the TV tower. The design feels very futuristic and is a good spot to show friends and family what the time difference is.

It's definitely a clock alright... Jokes aside, the square here is huge and there was a great atmosphere, even in the middle of freezing cold January. If you're lucky there will be music underneath! They say it makes the world go round, or maybe that was money...

The world clock is one of major attractions at Alexanderplatz. The vibe is good with a lot of people visiting this place for the vibe. The picture of the clock perfectly fits with the tv tower in the background. You can enjoy shopping here in the malls and various shops as they are just within 5 mins of walking distance. I can remember that this is the only place where people open gates for trams to pass.

Wonderful clock.. You can check the real time of any county, just look under the country name and what ever the number is that is the time in 24h format.. And you can see many guitarist, singers and band player performing live at this place always. A place of artist too.👍🔥

Kind of a cool thing with the Berlin tv tower in the backdrop. The actual thing is slightly overrated but the park it is located in is nice next to the tower and a nice shopping area. Past the clock though seems to be the more run down side of Berlin.

Nice watch, but you have to plan to do something there, tv tower, shopping or something another. To see 5 minutes enough. Warning: there are lot of homeless people different nationality, and it smells like urine. Optional visit, not just to see.

(Translated by Google) An ancient landmark of Berlin. It shows the halfway correct time (plus minus a few hours) and can be found in every travel guide. The world clock is often used as a meeting point, also for blind dates. The surroundings are so-so ... you don't actually see Berliners. People like to demonstrate here. The World Time Clock is a cool concept, which is executed well. Simple design, but draws people in to it. The surrounding area is small and the monument itself isn’t something you’d stare at for too long, but certainly something to tick off the list.

This is definitely one of the most interesting monuments and tourist attractions. This is one of a kind clock in the world. It is really interesting that always under this clock there are people playing music and also you can see a lot of people from all around the world watching at the watch to see the time they are countries.

The world clock was added to Alexander Square in 1969. This watch was designed by industrial designer Erich John. This clock has a 24-sided cylinder on a column, each side of which shows a time zone, which shows the names of a number of foreign cities in that particular time zone.

A unique monument, the product of a strange ideology. This artifact should be cherished for what it tells us about the DDR. However, little is made of it, and it is becoming dirty and unkempt. History will not forgive the Berlin authorities if they fail to preserve it for posterity.

It was Christmas market time and it was beautifully decorated with many stalls and lights. There was also a large ice rink. The food stalls had a wide variety of foods to choose from and the bars were friendly and helpful in describing all the drinks they had on offer. (Translated by Google) What to say Here is the Berlin meeting place par excellence, for going out, demonstrations, meetings for two, people watching, art events, shopping and much more. This is one of three hearts in this city. Here you can get away with all means of transport every now and then. Not the most harmless place towards evening. Fortunately there is a police station across the street. Is the world clock still interesting as a world clock? At least as a landmark. By the way, whoever stands here usually stands out as non-Berliners. So a little mindfulness is good, especially with regard to handbags, cell phones, etc. Stay Safe in Berlin. (Original) Was soll man sagen? Stay Safe in Berlin.

(Translated by Google) The world clock is a popular meeting point on the very large Alexanderplatz. Every Berliner and especially every East Berliner knows it, and it was also a popular meeting place in the GDR. The name is right - it actually shows the current time in many countries around the world. 146 states and the date line can be read off. It was opened together with the Berlin TV tower. That was in 1969.

Very interesting clock.. You can check the current time of any county, just look under the country name and what ever the number is that is the time in 24h format.. And you can see many guitarist, singers and band player performing live at this place always.👍🔥

One of the main monuments of Berlin besides the TV tower. If you get the chance to visit the Alexanderplatz I advise you to take the lift up the tower to see all of Berlin.

  • 4/5 Ahmad G. 2 years ago on Google
Nice clock. It's maybe too large to check time with and not very accurate due to all the changes that countries do when changing their daylight savings time. It is however nice to see the timezones that are the same even when the cities are far apart. Maybe a bit less metal would help make it look less outdated. Cause it doesn't really capture your attention that match when you are passing by.

Very impressive clock, showing the time in 148 major cities over the world. It is located in the Alexanderplatz and very easily reachable with public transport. Over 120 engineers were required for the design and construction of this clock which took place in the 60s. It's a must see if you're in Berlin.

The beautifully designed clock is a must-see for tourists, offering a glimpse of Berlin's history and culture. A wonderful addition to any visit.

Very nice spot for a lovely picture of the tv tower. The only downside is the “area”, a lot of young guys with a lot of beer and not always friendly eachother (especially during the evening)
