Huge statues collection in Berlin. Awesome atmosphere around this place. Beautiful museum with a small cafe inside. Nice collection of art with Byzantine, Italian, African and Renaissance pieces. There are lots you can see in this museum. I guess the price is ok for museum. It would be nice to visit it if you love art. The interior architecture of the museum also are fascinating. I definitely suggest this place for visit.

The Bode Museum is one of the museums on Museum Island. It was built in 1904 in the Baroque Revival style. Currently, the museum is home to a collection of sculpture and Byzantine art. Originally called the Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum after Emperor Frederick III, the museum was renamed in honor of its first curator, Wilhelm von Bode, in 1956.

I went to the Bode Museum in Berlin, and it was really cool! The building looked fancy and old-fashioned, and it's on a special island. Inside, there were lots of different artworks and things from a long time ago. I liked looking at the sculptures the most. They were made a really long time ago and looked super detailed and fancy. There were also some old coins and medals that showed how people used to use money. The museum had really nice views of the river and the city too. I spent some time just looking out the windows and enjoying the scenery. The museum had signs and audio guides that explained the artworks, which was helpful. The people who worked there were friendly and knew a lot about the stuff in the museum. Overall, going to the Bode Museum was a great experience. If you like art and history, you should definitely check it out!

Visited the Bode Museum in Berlin and had an amazing time! The building's fancy, old-fashioned charm on a special island sets the tone for a unique experience. Inside, a diverse collection of ancient artworks captivated me, especially the detailed sculptures and historical coins. The museum offers stunning views of the river and the city, creating a picturesque backdrop. Signs, audio guides, and friendly staff make exploring the exhibits informative and enjoyable. Even for someone not typically into history, this museum proved to be an exception, thanks to the architect's brilliance. The inclusion of a 3-day museum pass was a nice bonus. Highly recommend adding Bode Museum to your Berlin checklist if you appreciate art and history – a great overall experience!

Very nice museum that is a part of Berlin Museum Isle. But on the contrary from other museums available without waiting and also on internet. A nice collection of Middle-age and Renaissance art. The Ravenna fresque is awesome. The stairs are also very nice. The price is really reasonable.

The architect was amazing overall, and included is the 3-day museum pass 🫶🏻 I'm not a huge fan of history but this museum was an exception. They offer audio guide along with pieces of paper guide at each exhibition room and it was quite easy to understand Some of the information on the guide were very interesting as well, highly recommend to add this to your berlin checklist

Sehr schöne Architektur und Atmosphäre, Ein sehr unterhaltsames und interessantes Museum.  Muss Man hier unbedingt besuchen. Mit dem Audio Guide. Wer sich für die Geschichte interessiert, der ist hier genau richtig. Man muss sich beim Besuch allerdings Zeit lassen, um die vielen Details aufsaugen zu können.

The striking rotunda as the end of the building is striking and ensures that the Bode Museum is already striking. The collections, including a number of sacral items and also a large coin collection, have already met the tastes of many visitors. Among them also from unwanted ones: After all, the large, golden maple leaf coin was stolen from Canada. Darunter auch von unerwünschten: Schließlich wurde hier die große, goldene Maple-Leaf-Münze aus Kanada gestohlen.

It was quite interesting. They showed art from Africa and Europe in different rooms. Then they try to compare both art. The art are mostly based on religion. Although it was interesting, I still found it underrepresented, especially the art from Africa. They only represent very few regions in this continent. In addition, I also expected to see more from the African arts but unfortunately they have very few things to show. The audio guide was very boring and I think he sometimes feels tired or bored when he made this speeches. I was not impressed.

The collection is amazing and underrated. It would have been better if there were more English interpretation and more signs of the exhibition doors as you can easily get lost or miss some rooms. A lot of pieces from Egypt 🇪🇬 especially the coptic era, if you liked it, then you should visit the coptic museum in Egypt as well.

A gargantuan old Prussian pile of museum with a capital M at the spitze of Museum Island, cupolas, curling staircases, pomp and majesty. The collection is equally fascinating if a bit haphazard—paintings and sculpture from Italy, Germany, Spain, France, and the Low Countries. A wonderful Bronzino portrait, a small Giambologna, trunks, capitals and other architectural fragments from Byzantium, you can easily spend the whole day in here! Worth coming back to again and again, there is always something new to discover or some overlooked corner to see. Oh yeah they have a huge collection of coins too.

The Wilhelm von Bode Museum, which is known to many as the Bode Museum, is located in the northwestern part of the Museum Island of Berlin and is very popular among Berliners and visitors. The museum complex includes the Museum of Byzantine Art, the Sculpture Collection and the Coin Office. The museum owes its foundation to Emperor Frederick III - it was his idea to create an exhibition that could demonstrate to the public the richest collections of valuable exhibits belonging to the emperor. The art historian Wilhelm von Bode undertook the work, who divided the exhibition halls so that objects belonging to a certain era were exhibited in each. The Second World War caused huge damage to the museum building, which led to the fact that it was reopened only in 1950, and restoration work continued until 1987. In the early 1990s, a considerable number of construction defects were discovered, which it was decided to eliminate , and in 1997 the museum was closed for major repairs. In 2006, the Wilhelm von Bode Museum was again opened to the public, presenting itself in front of the eyes of its guests in its new radiant guise.

(Translated by Google) Initially intended to accommodate the art of the European Renaissance, in 1956 it was named after its first director, Wilhelm von Bode (1845-1929). The museum was reopened to the public in October 2006 and today is dedicated to Byzantine art and a collection of sculptures ranging from the Middle Ages to the eighteenth century. Particularly interesting are the rooms of the Italian Renaissance - with the terracotta of Luca della Robbia and other masterpieces by Donatello and Desiderio da Settignano - and those of the late German Gothic. The Bode Museum, however, is best known for its collection of numismatics and Byzantine art, with over 150 paintings and a predominance of works from the Roman and Byzantine periods (from the 3rd to the 15th century AD) from different regions of the Mediterranean basin : from Constantinople to ancient Greece, from the Balkans to the North African countries. The collection is completed by a series of Russian icons.

No other room on the Museum Island can keep up with that. From the exhibition, I found it moderately interesting, on the one hand this is due to the exhibits (coins, Byzantine art, etc.) and the slightly bland preparation. But the building itself is always worth a visit.

The Bode Museum is as beautiful as the art work inside it. Definitely worth a visit! Just outside the museum is an open air theater and two restaurants and you can go out there after your visit and have dinner or a snack. I really liked the sculptures in the Bode and they had many beautiful paintings and other historic pieces to view.

It opens from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., extending its hours on Thursdays until 8:00 p.m. Closed on Mondays. The entrance fee is € 12, although if we want to visit several museums it is much better to buy the Museumspass, which for € 29 allows us to visit all the island's museums for three days, or the daily entry, which costs € 18 and It also allows us to visit the five museums in a single day, although in practice it is impossible. The sculpture collection displays artwork of the Christian Orient (with an emphasis on Coptic Egypt), sculptures from Byzantium and Ravenna, sculptures of the Middle Ages, the Italian Gothic, and the early Renaissance, including the controversial Flora attributed by Bode to Leonardo da Vinci but now widely argued to be a 19th century work. Late German Gothic works are also represented by Tilman Riemenschneider, the south German Renaissance, and Prussian Baroque art up to the 18th century. In the future selected works of the Gemäldegalerie will be integrated into the sculpture collection. This is reminiscent of William von Bode's concept of "style rooms", in which sculptures, paintings, and crafts are viewed together, as was usual in upper middle-class private collections. The Münzkabinett ("coin cabinet") is one of the world's largest numismatic collections. Its range spans from the beginning of minting in the 7th century BC in Asia Minor up to the present day. With approximately 500,000 items, the collection is a unique archive for historical research, while its medal collection also makes it an important art exhibition. Writing in The Financial Times on the occasion on the museum's reopening in 2006, Neil MacGregor, director of the British Museum, hailed “the most comprehensive display of European sculpture anywhere.” He added: “It is no exaggeration to say that in the new Bode Museum, Europe will be able for the first time to read its history — aesthetic and religious, intellectual and political — in a three-dimensional form.

A great museum with stunning architecture, and absolutely filled with sculptures and other artwork. The gallery does a decent job of explaining the significance of each piece, but it would be improved if signposting was better, and more information provided about the exhibits. The byzantine chapel is something unique.

Otherwise it doesn’t worth to spend your time and money for this small museum. It should be redesigned. Also when we visited some parts of the museum was closed but still they charged us full amount. Built between 1898 and 1904, under the rule of Kaiser Wilhelm II, the Bode Museum houses Byzantine-era art and artifacts, going as far as the 1st Century CE. It also houses a coin-collection cabinet. It is a part of the Museumsinsel which is a UNSECO World Heritage Site since 1999. Only on visiting this museum, will people be able to realize the struggle of Christians in the early Roman Empire era and how everything changed with the advent of Constantine's policies after his Edict of Milan (313 CE).

Bodes is one of the most impressive museuns in terms of its building, with a magnificent arquitecture and beauty. The first floor is mostly about religious artefacts, while the second floor contains a mixture of sculptures and an interesting coin collection. At the end of the exibitions you can enjoy yourself at a lovely cafe, sitting in an area facing the central sculputere by the staircase. The shop was temporaly closed.

What a fantastic museum. I felt I was in a palace with beautiful decor. Everywhere I looked there was a piece of art and not just the art but the interior itself. The coving, the ceilings, the floors, the carpet, the windows... Everything was immaculate and maintained to a very high standard. One will appreciate the era and all the restoration work done. Full of sculptures, both large and small, glorious paintings - they were restored so well with vivid colours that for a while I thought that they were painted very recently. The ticket is only €10, you can checkin your bag and get self paced free audio tour. I got in at 5 pm and the museum closes at 6, I could have easily spent 2+ hours here. There is a cafe as well. Well worth the visit and if you're in Berlin, one must go to this museum.

We had a wonderful time at this museum. It’s a little bit like a maze, when you go one way and come out another way and each door leads to a new area. There are sculpture to see everywhere you look. It was a great experience for my kids and we loved seeing so much art. It really is a unique collection. There are rooms filled with coins as well. The gift shop has a lot of books to offer and some nice souvenirs that are just as unique. Street parking was plentiful and very close which was a nice plus.

The Bode-Museum formerly called the Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum (Emperor Frederick Museum), is a listed building on the Museum Island in the historic centre of Berlin. It was built from 1898 to 1904 by order of German Emperor William II according to plans by Ernst von Ihne in Baroque Revival style. The building's front square featured a memorial to German Emperor Frederick III, which was destroyed by the East German authorities.Currently, the Bode-Museum is home to the Skulpturensammlung, the Museum für Byzantinische Kunst and the Münzkabinett (sculpture, coins and medals, and Byzantine art). As part of the Museum Island complex, the Bode-Museum was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999 because of its outstanding architecture and testimony to the development of museums as a cultural phenomenon in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

A huge museum! Even though the ground floor for temporary exhibition has been closed now (April2023), the 1st and 2nd floors are still big enough to spend at least 2 hours to walk around and explore. If you use the audio guide, probably you need longer time. This museum is mainly about religion art works, sculptures and coins.
