In my opinion, they pay more attention to the artistic performance rather than the quality of music here. This depends on the director though. The building is quite new inside. Although the main hall is in historic style, everyone uses the same two wardrobes. In short, the interiors look authentic, but are designed in accordance with modern standards.

A place that everyone must visit in Berlin, elegant, classy, beautiful. There are so many concerts and ballets every month. I just love it.

Gemütliches Haus, gute Atmosphäre und guter Klang. Nette Platzanweiser.

    1. If you’re lucky enough, you can buy also a ticket for a 1 hour public rehearsal (7€). This experience gives insights how ballet coaches, masters and dancers work together. The languages are English and German. Live music. 2. The Konditiorei prices are quite reasonable: big cup of tea 3€, water 3€, coffee 3,5€. The a la carte menu looks great too. 3. The building itself has lifts. 4. The team consists of friendly, smiling and ready to help people. And OMG how good they wear their black and white dress code!

Beautiful opera house, great sound and acoustics. Just modern enough to preserve its classic European feel without sacrificing the quality of the performance. The titles above the screen are in English & German. Highly recommended for opera lovers, the productions are great and the opera company books singers of international renown. I just came back from seeing Domingo in Macbeth.

(Translated by Google) The State Opera on Unter den Linden was founded in 1742 by the Prussian King ?. Frederick II in an unfinished building at that time, which was to become part of the architectural ensemble "Forum Fredericianum" on the modern Bebelplatz square. The leading place in the repertoire of the theater was occupied by French, Italian and German operas. The opera hall is designed for 1450 seats. Until 1808, only courtiers and special guests could visit it.

Last night, I saw Carmen at the Staatsoper. What an incredible production! The music, the set, and the beautiful venue itself worked together to make a truly special night. Centrally located on Unter Der Linden, the Staatsoper is close to many excellent dining options near Gendarmemarket square or across museum island to Prenzlauer Berg. I highly recommend this opera house.

The Berlin State Opera house is a wonderful building, which makes you feel being in a fairytale with all the marble constructions with gold accents in combination with the enormous chandeliers. The Berlin State Opera house offers: Ballet (modern and classic such as Swan Lake), Opera and classical music concerts. This place is worth a visit even if you are not into classical art performances. Prices are depends on the type of performances but tickets for 10 euro are available for some.

In the heart of Berlin, 5min by from the Alexanderplatz. Beautiful from the outside, even more beautiful from the inside. A must visit for every opera lover in Berlin. Excellent orchestra and always wonderful performers. Big variety in the program.

Beautiful old traditional opera house with all the decorations and small details. Loving the house and its atmosphere! Also, the whole surrounding area is pretty with University buildings. Book your intermission drinks and snacks in advance to get a table since they are always fully booked. Cloakroom service included in the ticket price.

Really a great opera, with a small audience and a fantastic scene. Their 'Le nozze di Figare', directed by Daniel Barenboim, was one of my most intense theatrical experiences yesterday. Elsa Dreisig as Countess was particularly convincing, but also Nadine Sierra as Susanna. And I liked Cherubino, the most demanding role in this staging. Chapeau bas!

This is a beautiful theater where sounds carries far and powerfully the arias of the most famous operas. As it's not too spacious you do need to buy your tickets fast as soon as they are available or you will be lamenting missing out on some amazing performance. The building is beautiful and perfectly kept up, but it is tall inside so be ready to go up and down many stairs, be it to the wardrobe, your seat the bar or the toilet. The opera company and orchestra are world-class so you will be pampered with a delightful experience whenever you come here.

The production of Salome we saw was simply gorgeous in all respects. The staging was innovative and very present, while not going against the story or feeling like it was too much. The singers were all wonderful. Hope to see more on future visits

Fidelio.

We have watched La Boheme here today. The building is beautiful, with stunning chandeliers and gold, looks fancy. The performance itself was great, nice acoustics and singing was impressive! It seems that they kept it classic rather than turning it into a too contemporary version. Stage decorations could be better though - it it too simple/empty/boring. My only complaint is the SEATING. We got the tickets in Parkett links C, Reihe: 12, Platz: 3 and 4. There is almost no angle on the seating so we ended up seeing the foreheads of 2 man in front of us for the whole play!!! We could not see the stage or the orchestra and these were quite expensive tickets! Also the chairs are uncomfortable and packed very close so there is no leg room at all. Next time will never get Parkett here, only the balcony!!!

Beautiful building and well organized service. Pro tip, don't get a red wine during intermission if you don't want to chug. The performance of Madame Butterfly could have been more culturally competent.

During a pandemic, have your ID and Covid vaccination certificate or a fresh test certificate. At Staatsoper, they demand the luca application, but they agree to fill in the contact questionnaire. There is an entrance at the front, but smaller lines are at the side entrances. The cloakroom is only on level -1. When buying a ticket, choose the ground floor (the most expensive tickets). If this exceeds your budget, choose a balcony, as far away from the orchestra as possible, only this will ensure the acoustic balance between the orchestra and the singers.

The operahouse is very grand and beautifull, but the best thing would have to be the staff. When I needed help urgently, the staff was quick to take action and resolved the matter. They care very much about ladies' safety. Thank you very much for helping me and also for the beautifull production of Don Giovanni. Would love to come back!

This was my second time visiting the oper. It was just as magical as the first time! We had some drinks before the show, which were a bit on the expensive side. It was also possible to eat before the opera! Our coats were taken care of, free of charge. We absolutely loved the opera we visited and the opportunity to explore the gorgeous building. The only “bad” thing we have to say, please make the merch of the oper available in adult sizes! We’ll definitely be back for a third visit!

It was magical and beautiful, we went to an opera in Italian, but that wasn't a problem at all as there were two digital screens translating in English and German clearly visible especially from the balcony. The actors were incredibly and it was indeed funny.😊

(Translated by Google) Nicely restored building, bar and toilets very neat, seats also relatively very comfortable. The quality of the performances varies, of course, and should of course not be at the center of this review, but so far I have been at least satisfied with all the performances, but some of the creative productions only get used to over time.

(Translated by Google) The renovation was really worth it! The house literally shines in the old splendor. Superficial modernizations have been dispensed with. Only the gastronomic rooms have been carefully modernized, but the gastronomy is now also excellent. Incidentally, one of the leading opera houses in Germany without a doubt. The best thing is to take a taxi, in Berlin taxis are comparatively cheap. But buses 100 and 200 also stop near the house.

(Translated by Google) It's a shame that the renovation has led to such an uninspired, even boring interior. Never be blackmailed by subscribers if you have a chance, have a publicly co-financed vision that the competition has delivered. A real shame. Wirklich schade.

  • 4/5 Paul H. 4 years ago on Google
The building is a great monument to the old East Germany. The auditorium is both grand and brutal in it's appearance. There is only one wardrobe on the ground floor. The restaurant/bar situation is not as well organised as other such venues in other cities, for example the royal opera in Stockholm. The patrons here seemed a touch snobby by comparison to the more laid back Swedish Opera House, where I recently watched something wearing the same traveling clothes and can thus make such a comparison. The cheap seats to the sides of the upper balcony are impossible to view the action on stage from, unless you stand, which seemed to be de rigour. I also noticed a a widespread habit of brusquely tapping the shoulder of the person in the seat in front of you if they ever dared to shift their buttocks from their seats.
