The museum's collection is wonderful, but the attitude towards visitors is terrible. At the entrance the question is: “What do you need here?” I was very surprised. Then it turned out that everyone was required to hand over not only jackets, bags, backpacks, but also sweaters. It's sub-zero temperature outside and walking around the museum in a T-shirt? Just because the security guard decided I was wearing a “street jacket”? I put the jacket in the cloakroom. I was warned that they were not responsible for the safety. I note that the staff at the cash registers themselves were wearing warm jackets. After a few minutes in the museum, a security guard accosted me, saying that I had to hand over my jacket to the cloakroom. I had to leave the museum because I refused to wear a T-shirt. The staff interprets the rules themselves, inventing new ones as they go. Boorish and unprofessional behavior. It's a pity, because a museum is not only exhibits.

The museum is awesome but the cloakroom aunt gave my backpack to someone else and thought she blamed me for coming there with too many people. Then my backpack found itself again. But we wouldn't be there anymore. After a long discussion, she was supposed to send it to me in the mail because it was an important backpack. Well, end of song, goodbye backpack and everything that was in it... So unprofessional.

Worst experience ever. I got bothered by uneducated, unprofesional security who spoke only german. The issue was that i was holding my winter jacket in my hand and i was forced to wear it indors.

It's been a long time since I've been in such a boring museum! There are rows and rows of (literally) treasures presented and you are supposed to admire them. In addition, everyone complains that treasures remain in Russia as spoils of war. worth information? experience value? no indication. More reminiscent of an art exhibition than an archaeological museum. The gold hat is the only thing that is made interesting, with useful explanations and appropriate artifacts of a different kind. Dear makers, things are worlds better these days!

One of my favorites places, and i think if not my favorite, one of my favorites Museum. These pictures speaks for themselves. No need to give feedback, reviews or introductions. Just being able to se Nefertiti's Bust was a dream come true. Just that, is enough to give the museum 4 star, but there some many wonderful things to see besides this. Enjoy when you visit. Oh, and before i forget, go 3 hours before having lunch, or just after your lunch, this museum is so big, that it took me around 3 hours to see 90% of it. So be prepared.

Beautiful collection in a most impressive building. The collection is explained very well with various audio/video panels. With the audio guide (also for children) you get individual exhibits explained in detail and in an entertaining way.

I looked at the exhibition on early European history on the top two floors. A collection of very high-ranking items that is actually really worth seeing - it's a shame that so much of it couldn't really be seen. Dark ceramics and dark patinated metal finds against a black background in the twilight of the approaching night. Room and showcase lighting is completely inadequate in many (not all) rooms. In some places the labels weren't even lit, so they simply couldn't be read. And I'm not talking about display cases with light-sensitive objects, but about ceramics, metal and modern labels, which really don't mind good museum lighting. I don't know whether it's just that the lighting here hasn't been changed from summer to winter or whether it's always like that: In any case, I can only recommend bringing a cell phone with a good flashlight function if you want to see something there. Unfortunately, I also have to agree with other reviewers that the didactics seem quite outdated for a museum in the area of metal times that was only set up in 2009.

So interesting and loads of exhibits. English and German (language friendly). The only issue is the fee of I think €12, but it was worth it for around half a day (if you take your time).
