Great museum, but the exhibition was not that good. The exhibit are marvellous and deserves to be highlighted in the right way. The audio tutorial of the museum was great. It was in many languages, so understanding the exhibits is not a problem. All in all a great museum that holds a part of the human heritage from the east.

The Vorderasian Museum is accessible (like all museums on the Museum Island except the Bodo Museum) via the James Simon Gallery by the star architect Chipperfield (opened in 2019). It is located in the Pergamon Museum complex and owes many of its treasures to James Simon, who was advised by Bode. With its great treasures - mostly before the birth of Christ - the museum shows what great things people created with the resources of the time - worth seeing and experiencing! The heart beats faster with joy, the lyrics make connections understandable.

There is a lot to see in this museum. If you don't want to ruin your experience, and see the museum quietly, then go on weekdays in the morning, because weekends are full of people, it looks like a market. There are nice original items, but also lots of replicas. Be sure to read the item description before hyping, most of the replicas shown here, have the original at the Louvre in Paris. Overall the museum is not too big, you can spend around 45 to 70 minutes here, depending on the amount of people.

Wonderful artifacts. HORRIBLE museum experience. We deserve and apology for the cloakroom staff's ayrocious and insulting behaviour. Finding a ticket online days and weeks ahead was already challenging. Their website is outdated and their ticket supply is limited. Our last option was to buy an annual ticket or wait till 2037. While buying an annual ticket the lady at the ticket counter kept texting and reading her messages on her phone. She was also rude and unwilling to be patient since the beginning. We were made to feel like a burden when all we wanted to do was buy a ticket. Horrible service. When we entered the museum, there were amazing stone tablets and statues...unfortunately the tops were covered in dust. We were blowing dust bunnies off the stone. Atrocious upkeep. Centuries old artifacts from the middle east and Asia, this is how they're treated. The WORST PART!!!! the lady in the wardrobe area singled us out of all the people who were also sitting on the platform. She and her colleagues were sitting on the platform too. She called my mother heavy and smiled back when we confronted her for singling us out and insulting us. When another colleague came, we thought we would get assistance. Instead She PUSHED and HIT my mother and defended her colleague. All of the staff present in that cloakroom were laughing at us and some of the visitors and Staff started cursing at us. No one, not even staff or visitors did anything. I cannot believe this is how the staff treat people. I've read the other 1 star reviews and agree!!! You don't insult, physically assaulted and mock people. She said she and her colleague were allowed to sit on the platform but not us...when literally 10 other visitors were sitting om it and watching. The whole day people were sitting on the platform in the cloakroom. This museum does not deserve to host some of the greatest and most beautiful artifacts of the Mesopotamia, Islamic and many more ancient civilizations. This history and heritage deserves to go back to it's respective homes, where people will also respect their visitors. I am disappointed. We came all the way from.dofferenr countries to see this beautiful heritage and culture, only to be met with rudeness and insults. I was trembling and worried this situation would get worse and tried to leave as soon as possible. It felt extremely unsafe and unwelcoming.

This is the archeological wing of the Pergamon Museum that houses many artifacts from Ancient Mesopotamia, including civilizations like the Assyrians, Babylonians, Akkadians, and the Hittites. The crown jewel of this area is the Ishtar Gate! Simply amazing!!!

An exciting journey to the beginnings of history. I'm glad I visited the museum before it closes for renovation for years. You should bring some time, three hours was a bit short. The free audio guide is very practical, but you have to understand the system, which clip belongs to which exhibit. I recommend doing some preparation and reading a few articles on Wikipedia about the Ishtar Gate, the Sumerians and the Babylonians.

We buy the Tickets and tried to enter the museum, but oh the same tickets must be stamped again and it would cost 6 Euros per Person to be stamped or this is what we were told by a Bored not even Speaking "Security Guard" bored to hell. Then! But then! We were "informed" by screaming and rude remarks that a Woman Purse is not allowed in the Museum for no reason but to buy a Separate holder to put the purse in with 6 Euros. This is a Disgrace to Culture and Art, this is no museum, this is a money grab scheme! The entire place should be reorganized and put in place. But anyway, what you see is just cheap Reproduction mostly, so dont visit it, enjoy the outside architecture!

On my arrival to the Museum of the Ancient Near East I had my doubts as to wether or not this museum was going to be as good as the others in this part of Berlin. I'm happy to say I was very wrong to judge to quickly. The collection of ancient artefacts was amazing. Make sure you get an audio guide to get the most out of your time here.

Plenty of interesting things to see here. The cost seems a bit high considering the size of the museum. They do not seem keen on accepting student IDs for a discounted rate; mine was denied for no apparent reason (perhaps bc it was a US University?). This will not fill up a whole day but is worth a visit if you have some money to burn.

Got here late in the evening so didn't get to see much, beat myself up so bad for this and found myself unconscious in the dark ally way after. A bit like the British museum in London if that is a relevant reference point for you. As with London I would prefer to be looking at these mind boggling artifacts in their original locations.

(Translated by Google) One of the unique expositions in the Pergamon Museum is the Ishtar Gate, which is the main exhibition object of the Perio-Asian Museum of Pergamon, which features more than two hundred exhibits from Syria, Mesopotamia, and Anatolia. The most famous of them - the Ishtar Gate - a huge arch, bounded by no less large walls, overlooking the Procession Road. The road of the processions is also in the museum, but not all. The Ishtar Gate is dedicated to the goddess of the same name, and was built in 575 BC. er by order of the king Nebuchadnezzar II in northern Babylon. The gate is made of brick covered with blue, white, yellow and black glaze. The brightness of the colors here is no less striking than the size of the structure itself. The gate is well preserved, despite its age, in contrast to similar structures that have survived in ruins. Today it is one of the most famous architectural monuments of the Babylonian kingdom. Here are exhibited works of art and household items of Assyrian culture. The age of the most ancient of them - more than 6 000 years! Of particular interest are Assyrian reliefs. It should be noted that this part of the museum was especially interesting for me, since Assyrian blood also flows in my veins. So I was fortunate enough for the first time to get in touch with a part of the disappeared state, which left a deep mark on world civilization. Inside, something seemed to have stirred up and I greedily swallowed up the surrounding museum atmosphere. The stories that my grandmother Shura told me — nee-Shmuni Jvamirovna Sado, surfaced in my head. It is difficult to describe my inner state with words. But, this is what I am willing to experience again and again. Assyrian sculpture has a pronounced individual character, the style of reliefs is not to be confused with anything. All subjects of the cult had a distinct ritual symbolism. They represented the gods or the process of worship, but, most importantly, people believed in the effectiveness of such images, in that the image can replace the prayer of a living person. The Persian collection of the Pergamon museum is represented not only by exhibits reflecting the culture of the Babylonians and Assyrians. Here you can discover the lost mysterious civilizations of the Sumerians and Hittites. Numerous sculptures and bas-reliefs, ornaments, religious objects amaze with their technique and deep meaning embedded in them. Before you open a whole layer of human history, rooted in deep antiquity.

Google will show you the wrong way to get here because of construction. After a few rude German encounters you’ll find it’s in the large white building next to the water. You’ll need to wait in a long line for a “time ticket” even if you already have a ticket. Make this one of your first stops so you don’t have to dream about drowning in the river
