Top-notch location; a fun & quirky atmosphere. Overview: The Circus Hotel is probably the elder, soberer & refined sibling of the probably more recognized Circus HoStel. Property & Room: Located at the junction of Rosenthaler Platz, it's about a 15-minute tram ride from the Berlin HBF and is located close to many restaurants, & bars and is probably not the most touristy part of the city - which is a good thing! The reception is unassuming but intimate and on the ground floor along with their famous bar & restaurant (unfortunately didn't try either). The pathways in the hotel for some reason, best known to the Europeans and Scandinavians, are dim, if not out-rightly dark. But once you do manage your room (YOUR room), it's a typical theme continues - while not the best lit, still unique and quirky. The smallish-medium sized room was well appointed. The sole window provides a glimpse of the Berlin TV tower and their verandah. There were a couple of storage areas, a coffee table with 2 chairs along with a small Bose boombox and the works. The bathroom, though also smallish was clean and well designed. We got a room facing the inner veranda, so was quiet. Assuming the rooms facing the road may be a little noisier. F&B: Unfortunately we didn't try any of their F&B offerings, however, we did go to their other dining outlet at the Hostel (which expectedly has a younger & livelier vibe) for breakfast (while basic, still a steal for EUR 5 - it's unlimited and healthy) and to their bar too (in the hostel) - the folks at the hotel's reception gave us a few vouchers to try their brewed beers in the hostel's bar - which were really awesome! But the place has multiple dining options - across all cuisines & budgets. Please do try to visit the 24x7 Rosenthaler Grill & Schlemmerbuffet for excellent Middle Eastern food and with oodles of character Service & Amenities: Limited scope to experience either, but some highlights: - really friendly, pleasant & helpful folks at the hotel (and hostel's) receptions - some amenities are indeed quite top-notch like the Bose Bluetooth boombox, etc. Overall: All-in-all, a very well located hotel, with good rooms, a very chic vibe & lots of character and as importantly well-priced (but yes, please do improve the internal lighting!).

I would recommend this boutique hotel to anyone travelling to Berlin. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, they helped us plan local excursions which were amazing. Check in was easy and fast, the rooms are clean and well decorated, the bar staff and bartender were some of the best I've ever come across. The food from the restaurant was excellent and the service was quick and efficient. The attention to detail in every aspect of this hotel was carefully planned out and designed. The subway is located just outside the front door and other public transit is across the street. If you're considering this hotel then stop looking and just book it.

Room was very clean. Mattress and linen were very comfortable. The Hotel was recently renovated and has a very unique and comfortable decor; it feels like home. Cafe serves an amazing breakfast. There is a very active bar seen in the evening. Location is fabulous for food and shopping. The room was pretty quiet for center City location. Amenities at the hotel were greatly appreciated (fruit + chocolate). We will definitely be back!

We stayed over there three nights with my partner, it was very nice. They have a nice bar down stairs with possibility to eat a great breakfast in the morning. The staff is very friendly. There’s a rooftop with a panoramic view and a inside garden

Upon my arrival at Hotel Circus in Berlin, I was greeted with the unpleasant surprise of a shower that flooded the bathroom. After attempting to contact the reception a staggering six times, my calls went unanswered every single time. It seemed to be a recurring theme throughout my stay, as I struggled to get in touch with the hotel staff from my room. To add insult to injury, instead of offering a room change, I was given the meager consolation of a free breakfast. A gesture which, given the circumstances, was shockingly inadequate. My interactions with the reception lacked the basic courtesy and empathy one would expect from a hospitality establishment. Despite reporting the faulty shower and requesting a refund the following day, I returned to the same issue, untouched. When I demanded to speak with the night manager, they finally moved us to another room and refunded the cost of the first night. But throughout the ordeal, the staff showed no genuine remorse or understanding for the inconvenience caused. Moreover, the housekeeping was inexcusable. I was aghast to discover that my bed had been made with the same dirty sheets. It was a hospitality nightmare, and I cannot emphasise enough the shock I felt during my stay at Hotel Circus. For those considering a stay in Berlin, I strongly advise seeking alternative accommodations. Avoid the headache and choose a hotel that values its guests and maintains basic standards of cleanliness and service.

Great location, with lots of restaurants and supermarkets around, taxi station nearby, many scooters available, underground, busses all yiu need! Awesome lobby and inner yard, very nice rooms, and most of all, great staff and friendly and helpful service. We really enjoyed our time. We took the "big room", which was a nice size, but not huge. However, it was very clean and comfortable. They have some interesting cooling system, which is environmentally friendly, but it's not really air conditioning, so don't expect a breeze of air blowing out from somewhere.

Very good service (great staff), cosy and clean hotel in great location….But rooms were so darn hot. I would recommend it for spring/winter/autumn - but I would never go there in the summer again. They do not have air condition, and our rooms (yes we even changed during our stay to try and get away from the heat) were between 26-28 degrees celsius at all times (we measured). We had help from staff to correctly set the environmental friendly “cooling-system”, with windows closed as instructed for the system to work. (It didn’t) it just didn’t cool. Outside the temperature was between 21-29. Nothing changed inside. We managed, but slept poorly for 4 days. Noisy fan going at all time, ear plugs in, at last opening the windows every morning, to the very busy street outside to try at least to get a little air.

Great hotel and experience. The location was wonderful, we had a lovely room overlooking the hotel courtyard, there is a nice bar in the hotel, and the staff was incredible. Most of the staff spoke amazing English (one of the staff members was from St. Louis) and they catered to our every need. We stated one morning that our hotel room was hot and they immediately delivered a fan to our room. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is based in a lovely neighborhood and in the centrum of the city. From here on you can travel in all directions. The room was cozy and clean. Everything you need is in there.

I guess this place recently opened, at least the cafe part of it did. Couldn't find any other reviews. Extremely affordable for a drink or a bite, friendly staff as well!

Super zentral, modern, tolle Einrichtung, sauber, Personal freundlich.

The Circus Hotel staff member was so friendly at check in and all the staff were helpful throughout our stay. The hotel is in a great location, right next to the underground. The beds are comfortable and they made our stay feel like being home. They even left us a handwritten welcome note to enjoy our stay. They had live music at night in the lobby and the cocktails were delicious! Highly recommend this hotel.

Had a lovely time at the Circus hotel. It’s really well themed lots of plants and animals. The courtyard is beautiful. Great cocktails at the bar. Cute posters and travel info throughout. Great location walking to tons of restaurants and easy subway access.

Absolutely wonderful hotel! Really nice room and the most comfortable bed with the softest linens and extra pillows I had over my entire month long Euro trip. Nice bar downstairs and great location, near to a Ubahn station and many places to shop and eat right down the street. Felt very safe as elevator requires the room keycard to operate. Very friendly, helpful staff. My favorite hotel of the whole trip and would definitely stay again if I return to Berlin!

Circus Hotel is fabulous. Great neighbourhood, good connections and superb location. Felt very safe. The hotel is beautiful and the staff so warm, welcoming and friendly. They made my birthday special holiday the perfect stay with their outstanding hospitality and from going above and beyond on a personal level to ensure we had the best experience. Comfortable spacious rooms and great food with private rooftop terrace. Would thoroughly recommend. We look forward to our return! Jaime and Claire x

Great location without being too pricey. Staff is nice and helpful. Pillow is a bit big and room got hot (I was there in August). All in all, great hotel :)

Booked an apartment at the hotel and the accommodations are tremendous. Was perfect for 3 people and plenty of room to go around. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Location was perfect with plenty of bars and restaurants around. Would highly recommend this place to stay when visting Berlin.

Really perfect for our needs — quirky but tasteful interiors, friendly staff, quiet rooms, USB charging ports everywhere (I think there were eight in our room), metro and tram stations right outside the door, plenty of restaurants just steps away. It's right on the border of Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg, so depending on whether you turn left or right you can stroll through quiet, tree-lined avenues and upscale cafes or head straight into the heart of the tourist district. And the David Hasselhoff Museum is right across the street! We didn't experience the in-house breakfast because there were too many breakfast places to try in the neighborhood (fyi Mug & Spoon has a spectacular chef), but we did enjoy the small courtyard in the evening. The only complaint we had was a mild musty smell in our room, but we were there in a very humid week in August and didn't report the issue, so we don't count that against them. We'll stay here the next time we visit Berlin for sure.

Fantastic hotel in Berlin, located right by Rosenthaler Platz (U station), and has plenty of restaurants, bars, and other amenities within eay walking distance. Room was small, but all the space was put to good use. Hotel felt very 'hip/high-tech' e.g. chromecast already included with TV. Staff were helpful and kind, especially in the breakfast lounge - a lovely American man working in the lounge knew our coffee order after day one. Only thing that would have made the room even better for our kind of travel would have been a mini-fridge and microwave.

We had a lovely surprise when we were upgraded to The Circus Hotel from their neighbouring hostel over the road (due to COVID the hostel is currently closed). The Hotel is very cool and modern, the decor is really impressive and there are lots of nice touches in the lobby and also in the rooms. Positives: -Bed is SUPER comfortable -SMART TV allows you to stream from your phone so you can watch TV in own language -Helpful staff, reception occupied 24hrs -They are happy to look after your suitcases if you are flying a while after check out time -Nice touches in the room - the lighting, the blinds, black out curtains & the furnishings are great quality (Cups, mugs etc) - Great shower -Tasty breakfast at the hotel, and it is next to a great coffee shop (excellent matcha latte and chai lattes) -The hotel itself is quiet - no loud parties in the corridors so always got a good nights sleep - Felt very COVID safe Negatives: -Room was slightly dusty, and there was a key card wallet left in the room from the last guests so I was paranoid that the room hadn't been cleaned / sheets changed between guests (although i did not mention this to reception as when we got there we were so tired so went immediately to sleep!) -The rooms back on to a VERY busy junction which is VERY loud. The windows must be triple glazed though as when they are closed, you can only hear the ambulances - Did not know how to use the phone in the room - I asked for the cups to be changed in the room and they didn't change the mugs (But perhaps i did not specify clearly enough/ perhaps the word in Gnglish did not translate clearly to German) Overall we had a great stay, and we would certainly return :)

This place is ok. There are much better hotels in Berlin though. Location is great, but if you’re here on a weekend and happen to get a street side room it’s loud as hell. Plus there’s a tram line right in front so you’ll hear that all night too. The rooms are ok though bedding is synthetic and not real down so it’s ok. Toiletries are ok as well, not great but not bad. The room has a bunch of weird extras that don’t need to be here and my room was super dusty when I stayed (the shelf behind the bed was SO dusty. You’d think they’d remember to clean that). Bottom line: location is good and it’s not a horrible choice but for what you pay there’s far better places to stay.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. I appreciate their commitment to being eco-friendly; however, the "air conditioning" is not very effective and thus the room was very hot.

  • 5/5 Aya Z. 2 years ago on Google
Excellent stay. The hotel was renovated in 2020, the room was lovely with attention to details. The location is great (right on the u-bahn), and the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating.

To be honest it was a bit of a disappointment. I had read reviews about the fabulous breakfast, but in reality what you got was an understaffed service which struggled with basic things like getting your hot beverage to you while it was still hot. Overall the breakfast is overpriced for what you get, you would be better off having it somewhere else. The nice thing about the hotel is its funky interior design and pretty good location.

a bit pricy but what an experience! The first thing you notice when you walk in the Circus hotel is the lovely stuff in the lobby. The lobby is divided into many sitting areas where you can cuddle up with a book or work on your laptop alongside your colleagues. The room was not small but still cozy with a desk and a lovely shower. so far it’s the best hotel i stayed in Berlin. They work with the CODOS café located right outside where you can get a delicious breakfast either in the lobby or next door with a slightly different atmosphere

Stayed here one night. Had a nice room facing backyard. Tasty breakfast. Had to wait a little longer for coffee but reason to take of a star. Located in brilliant Mitte. Everything is in walking distance

Not a great match Overall, the experience has not been nice for us. The price is way too much for what you get from my perspective. 270€ per night, without breakfast. It started with an absolute messy booking process. The prices were very intransparent and the service team via email clearly overwhelmed. We received different messages almost every day. The hotel is nice and clean. The location good. No doubt and plus points for that. The staff is nice, at times a bit overwhelmed around the bar, though. The room is located in the direction of Rosenthaler Platz. The street is super loud during the entire night. The AC did not work properly and opening a window is absolutely not an option as it feels like sleeping directly on one of the most busiest streets in Berlin. We did not get much rest that night. Overall, a nice place but not the right one, if you look for some relaxing time.

Great Location, next to the Metro and super nice staff. The rooftop deck is a bonus, quiet and has a decent selection of beverages. They have plenty of coffee shops and food around the area as well.

Had high expectations, and they were exceeded. The room was elegant and spacious, lots of charming details, exquisite design, friendly staff. Won't even consider anywhere else to stay the next time I'm going to Berlin.

Best value and location for your money. 5 day stay without complaints. Breakfast included is very good. Front entrance/exit puts you directly in front of Uban station Rossenthaler Platz line U8. A few steps away are cafe's, fast food, bakery, grocery - everything one needs for a comfortable stay in Berlin.

  • 3/5 hadrien l. 1 year ago on Google
Nice hotel, but lots of noise if you have a room facing the street due to the trams, sirens, etc. If noise doesn’t bother you in your sleep, that’s a fine hotel.

  • 4/5 Taylor E. 3 years ago on Google
Its a good hotel because it has a good ubication. The breakfast is OK and the staff very friendly!

Great place, would definitely come back here. Rooms were small (it's Europe, get over it) but well designed and perfect for our needs. Our room (see pic) had two small (twin?) beds, perfect for Loren and I. Everything worked, was clean and the layout was thoughtful. Temperature control for cooling is via some ceiling water system - NOT forced air A/C - so I'd be a bit worried in the heat of the summer. But in September we just left the windows open and it was great. Nice little rooftop patio with an honor bar, next door coffee, and available morning continental or hot breakfast (for a charge). Great interior courtyard for quiet sitting / reading / conversation. Quiet room, except for the stairwell door that we were next to - people let that slam shut. But still, didn't happen too often, so just request a room away from the stairwell.

My credit card company caused a great deal of confusion with my booking - the front desk resolved the whole thing in an instant. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten such genuinely compassionate service in any industry. Huge thank you to Kat and Mariel for resolving an issue they did not cause with poise, professionalism, and kindness. Instant recommendation.
