The Hotel Adlon Kempinski in Berlin has long been synonymous with luxury and prestige, and my recent spontaneous stay had moments that lived up to this reputation. Upon check-in, my loyalty status was acknowledged and I was pleasantly upgraded to a larger room. The staff displayed professionalism, especially in the spa and pool area, where service was both courteous and prompt. However, the stay wasn’t without its disappointments. While I appreciate a room with traditional styling, the one I was placed in felt outdated, showing visible wear and tear. This was most evident in the malfunctioning light controls. Additionally, my preference for a higher floor wasn’t accommodated, although I understand the room choice might have been limited due to the last-minute nature of my booking. The service quality varied widely: At times, it was exemplary, but there were instances where it seemed non-existent. This inconsistency is not something one would expect from a hotel of this calibre. In conclusion, the Adlon still has the allure and the staff to offer a remarkable experience, but the wear and tear of the rooms and inconsistent service are areas that need urgent attention. Based on these observations, I would rate my experience as 3 out of 5 stars. There are certainly better options at this price point in Berlin, especially if a well-maintained interior is a priority for you.

The Good: The Hotel is in a great location, and it is very elegant. The room was a good size and beautiful, and the beds were comfortable. We had a few requests from the concierge, and they were very nice and helpful. The pool area was amazing, with a very nice jacuzzi. The bellman who took our bags was one of the nicest employees of the hotel, along with the housekeeper who took care of our room. The Bad: Several of the staff are rude and haughty. We asked for some items from the tall young man at the front desk; he totally ignored our request. Nothing was ever done. He did, however, correct my German. Gee, thanks. At the lobby bar, the prices are beyond ridiculous (even water cost over 12 Euros), and the staff was also very arrogant and dismissive, UNTIL it was time to pay! Then they practically chased us down, not realizing that we charged it to the room. Apparently, they didn't think we looked like typical hotel guests. The bathroom was great, but the shower stall had barely enough room to turn around, there was no shelf for shampoo, etc., (only a bench where everything got wet), and the water temp was hot then cold, never just right. Conclusion: Would I stay here again or recommend this hotel based on my experience: No.

We simply loved this hotel. It’s a fabulous location so close to so many areas to visit. Classic being right next to Brandenburg Gate. The best part was the hotel service. Everyone was so friendly and efficient. Pascal in the dining room made the sumptuous breakfast even better. He delighted us every day by warmly welcoming us back and remembering our coffee orders. The buffet breakfast is fit for a king, with champagne and caviar included. Martin at the Concierge desk delighted us every day by with helping with basic questions, to tourist information, as well as hard to get reservations. Bravissimo! The lobby is beautiful and a relaxing spot to enjoy a glass of wine and listen to the pianist. The rooms were generously sized, but showing a bit of wear on the furniture. She is a gracious hotel and I highly recommend staying here.

Great hotel and staff every time. Probably among the best in Berlin. One day we were walking through the lobby with our baby carriage on the way out and it was rainy day, one of the bell-girls came out of nowwhere and gave us an umbrella and a small teddy for our daugther!

First time I visited Brandenburg gate, I just was informed about Obama visiting here, Michael Jackson dangling the baby from a window here etc about this hotel. Knew it was a posh hotel. Didn’t visit it. Second time I visited Brandenburg gate thought I might just just go in and see what makes it so special. Found that the cafeteria in the ground floor is open for tourists, travellers too for a quick bite. The prices were a bit high as expected. We had some hot chocolate and it was so good. Also learnt about the history of an Indian king Maharaja of Patiala donating a elephant fountain for them. So it was a great visit. If you came to see Brandenburg gate and want to relax for sometime and have a quick bite too, this is a good place to visit

A crown jewel of the hotels in Berlin, but once inside there are some glitches. The hotel is fantastic overall, but old doors which allow the noise of 4AM in-room parties to make your night more colorful are amongst the few changes, that should be made. Food is great, comfort is great, service is slow and maybe 50% are experienced. At this price and compared to other hotels from this brand, a little refreshment wouldn't hurt. Still - I would recommend it.

Wow! We loved this hotel and chose it primarily bc it listed as having hypo-allergenic rooms. The lobby and bar is splendid and we really enjoyed the service we received from the bellman, front desk workers, bar staff and restaurant folks. The location can't be beat at the foot of Brandenburg Gate. We tried another five star hotel first and moved to this one. This hotel met all expectations and we will be back!

My father and I went for a meal here during our visit to Berlin in December. What can I say? The food and service were exquisite and we certainly felt very welcome and did not feel out of place. The Elephant Bar was a great place too. Something I have never experienced before. My father enjoyed a cigar and a delicious whisky. Sebastian, our server was excellent and a really nice guy with top notch silver service. His knowledge and passion in his role certainly did not disappoint. We will certainly be visiting again! Mainly due to the service at the restaurant downstairs. The reataurant manager should have a better manner to talk to the customers. Her wording and behavior do not match the level of the historial hotel such as Adlon. I came to have a lunch at 12:05 then the hotel front said the restaurant opens at 12:30 so during my waiting time I got a take out coffee from starbucks across the street. Came back at 12:30, when I asked for a table, the restaurant manager said, “ we JUST opened”. There were at least several tables with seated customers however she didnt seem to be interested in providing the table to me. Then I asked again if I can get a table to which she replied as “Not with the starbucks coffee” rather throwing the word at me. Thenr she started serving other tables. I was rather offended. I told her that I could throw it away as I got it waiting for a lunch here. Then she grabbed my coffee without even asking “ then dont show the starbucks sign or just cover it.” Then she just took the coffee from my hand rather aggressively then she said she would put it in a cup. I understand that the restaurants have policies and it was no problem for me at all to throw it away. My point is that her manner was extremely rude, rather racist (there was no single Asian seated at the table at that point or I was dressed rather casually or I look younger than my age as most Asians do ) and the way she speaks was completely inappropriate as a manager of ANY restaurant or ANY place where service is required. Her wording, tone of voice were inexcusible. I have been to many hotels all around the world, but have never had to face such a rude manager. Then they brought uncooked prawns so I ended up swallowing uncooked prawns. I wonder why they brought my dish first as there were many tables who seemed to have ordered before me who havent got the dishes until later. It took so long to wait for the new salad, and I was already in a very bad mood so lost appetite. I asked for a check. The other two waiter and waitress were nice. In the end, they said they would not charge me (as a common policy of most restaurants for bad dishes), however this was not enough to change the impression of this hotel/restaurant. She (the restaurant manager) owes a sincere apology. It is a small world after all.

Delicious! Stopped in for a quick tea but the experience was so lovely that we chat for more than an hour. What a lovely way to pass time. We ordered the hot chocolate, morgentau tea, and a cappuccino. The hotel gifted some beautiful mini-stollen. Since we stayed for longer I ordered some bread from the restaurant and the waitress brought delicious citrus butter from the restaurant to pair with the bread. Altogether a delightful experience. Germany is currently 2G which means that I had to show my vaccine cards, my ID, and wearing masks except when eating and drinking.

We went here for afternoon tea. The Adlon is beautiful, but for the price, we were let down. The scones were cold and rather stale. The sandwiches were all quite dry around the edges. The staff seemed to falter whenever they were supposed to present something with a flourish, like lighting the baba on fire. The ending sweets on the top two layers were good, so I’ve attached a photo.

As a frequent traveler who normally stays in upscale resorts and hotels, I can safely say that the Aldon rates at the top of the list. This is a true 5-star experience with great rooms, excellent service, and a fabulous breakfast. Although it’s not inexpensive, it was well worth the price

I went there 3 times for breakfast, lunch, and Sunday brunch. The quality is amazing even though there aren’t many items to choose however the quality is at its best. I am really appreciated Felix who work in f&b his understanding of what the customers want is in depth , he is also nice gentleman who tried his best effort to help guests and also Lorena at the reservation centre would kindly give all information as customers want. But l am disappointed that I need to call to reservation to book advent brunch 5 times also the lady at the call centre said that her colleague will call you back unfortunately it didn’t happen and then l had to try 2 more times, they should improve this quality of reaching guest management.

There are a lot of positives to review but my low star rating reflects expectations from the price and comparison to other 5 star hotels in Berlin. First the positive. Location is THE BEST. You can’t possibly beat it for a trip to Berlin. Splurge for the gate views and enjoy the show. Spa is beautiful, food was delicious and the staff is wonderful. Cons: The rooms are beat to sh*t. Like serious wear and tear unacceptable for a 5-star. Phones from the 90’s, no USB ports, tv’s that are so low tech I didn’t know they still existed. And I will repeat. Literally every surface was scratched or scuffed. The carpet had stains. And the room cost 1000 euro. The bed was very average. Nowhere near a ritz Carlton or four seasons softness and comfort. There are also some unpleasant odors in some areas of the hotel. I opened the windows to air out the room.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The location couldn't have been better - it was amazing looking out of my balcony to the left and there was the Brandenburg gate. The staff were very friendly, my room was very luxurious and the food was great. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a 5 star stay in Berlin.

Absolut empfehlenswert!

One minute, Michael Jackson was blowing kisses to fans from the balcony of his presidential suite at Berlin's Adlon Hotel. The next, he was clutching his 9-month-old son Prince Michael II with one arm, as the child, with its face shrouded in a blanket, dangled precariously over the edge. historic hotel.

Lovely hotel and location but luxury cones from the whole experience. No access to English tv such as BBC other than news. Very limited concessionary items in bath room- no shower gel at all and nothing topped up. Breakfast confusing- told to order eggs at the table and collect everything else from buffet- by the time eggs came good was cold. Build up of plates on the table and slow to clear by the waitress. Wanted to feel pampered- but didn’t.

Unfortunately even after having a pleasant conversation with the staff members at hotel and being a member . I was denied reservation / entry to the Elephant bar / Cigar lounge which is a no go for us cigar lounge enthusiasts. Hence could not try there hospitality . Genuinely disappointed by the experience . Also the hotel is very crowded almost always so expect no privacy . Would suggest the management to actually train there staffs to find solutions rather than blindly rejecting customers .

There is no other Kempinski hotel in the world like Adlon Berlin - so much taste to the detail and pure elegance. The staff is excellent, naturally kind and helpful. It was a pleasure and unforgettable experience to visit you. You are the best, better than all the rest

My husband and I stayed at the Adlon Kempinski for four nights during our time in Berlin, and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed with all aspects of my stay. Even before my arrival, the hotel reached out to me and asked if I had any preferences for sight-seeing, hotel transfers, food, restaurants, even pillow preferences. The hotel leaves an impression from the moment you set foot in the building, and has managed to perfectly maintain the balance of grandeur and elegance. From the level of attentiveness and courtesy of their staff, to the level of cleanliness, room space and location, I was more than satisfied with my stay. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who's looking to spend a little bit extra and spoil themselves - you won't regret it.

The service is unparalleled from the minute you step off the taxi, they make sure you are well taken cared of. Walking into the hotel feels like walking through a time machine. The interiors definitely makes you feel like you are back in the golden twenties. The rooms are well maintained and they also prepared a lovely bouquet with Champagne for our anniversary. They definitely go out of their way to make your stay wonderful. Breakfast is superb with wide choices to fit your needs with the option to enjoy it while looking out at the famous gate. Without a doubt, Hotel Adlon Kempinski is a must when in Berlin.

Had a wonderful weekend at the Adlon. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are beautiful, the lobby and bar were fantastic. However, the breakfast severely lacked vegan options, and there was no help from the labeling at the buffet. Additionally, there was a pre-arrival questionnaire about preferences and things, and my responses in this questionnaire were entirely ignored.

Easily the best service I have experienced at a hotel. The waiting staff at breakfast all the way through to the concierge and check in were brilliant. We were travelling with our three year old son and the staff went above and beyond at every step. The staff could not have made us feel more welcome. The breakfast is the best spread I have ever encountered at a hotel. Absolutely delicious. Could not highly recommend this hotel enough. Will stay here again without question. Very well done Hotel Kemplinski!

Incredible hotel with world class service. I’ve had the pleasure of staying in many nice hotels but nothing matches the Adlon in my opinion. The room was incredible and very spacious. In my junior suite I enjoyed a sitting area, jacuzzi tub, and a steam shower. The restaurants are amazing and I recommend having breakfast where champagne and caviar is served. Lastly, take advantage of the views of the Brandenburg Gate whilst enjoying a Berliner Weiße (Berlin Sour beer) and a plate of Currywurst.

The burger is not very good, and it is very overpriced. Not much effort went in to making this burger, and it is not special in any way. It may contend for the lowest quality to price ratio in Berlin. The sweet potato fries are fine, but the apple strudel disappoints.

The staff here are all exceptional. All of them without exception were friendly, polite and so willing to try their best to accommodate any request made within reason. They made my daughter a beautiful ham sandwich even though its not on the menu. The side snacks they provide with a cup of tea or a beer are of the highest quality. The olives were absolutely delicious, also the black berries and raspberries. It sounds simple to mention these things but these small details leave a huge impression and make a big difference. I absolutely loved this hotel and its really all because of the attitude of the staff as well as the small details. There were many other small details that created a beautiful experience, here I have just mentioned the few that left a lasting impression. I always love Kempinski hotels and this was one of the best I have seen so far.

Extremely nice 5-star hotel located exactly at the Brandenburg Gate, on the same place of the original Adlon Hotel. The hotel also hosts a few brand shops, and has a nice restaurant-cafe area inside the lobby, and a restaurant in the corner towards Brandenburg Gate. Always clean and friendly staff. Recently they started serving ice cream on the terrace in front of the hotel, so one has a nice view towards the main square. Love the positive energy in and around the hotel. Great place to stay!

Friendly & professional staffs. We would like to sit on the terrace that afternoon but it’s windy and cloudy so they closed it and suggested us to go to the Lobby instead. But I do really like the interior design of the hotel, it looks well established. They offers varieties of cakes. There’s a little elephant fountain inside. But the price is really expensive. You have to pay around 8 - 9,5 Euro per slice. But they’re indeed tasty

Went here specifically to get black forest cake. The cake was beautiful but disappointing as it was quite dry. That said, the peach tea and cheesecake were good. Without a doubt the best hotel in Berlin. Especially noteworthy are the exceptionally friendly and competent service as well as the exquisite breakfast. Both service and breakfast are unparalleled and the best I have experienced worldwide. The SPA area definitely needs refurbishing (it might have been by now, last time I visited was before COVID), and some of the rooms need modernisation with better phone charging by the bedside, better AC system, better shower heads, etc.

I stayed here for three weeks in the Summer of 2021. I gladly watched as the hotel filled with guests, or just visitors wanting a picture in the ornate lobby. After a year of pandemic, true enjoyment radiated from the faces of staff and guests alike. The location is direct in the „Mitte“ of Berlin and next door to the US Embassy and Brandenburger Tor. There is almost no street parking in the area, so expect to use the hotel’s underground parking garage at 40 Euro a day. The service in this hotel is without equal. The “Ladies in Red” manage a professional, efficient and kind team. They will attempt to fulfill almost any wish-all you have to do is ask. The breakfast buffet is without equal. I have never seen such a comprehensive, high-quality, and delicious selection. Again, if you don’t see what you want, just ask for it. Breakfast is served in the Mezzanine, so recommend asking for a table on the banister, overlooking the beautiful lobby and directly underneath the gold tiled roof. The room service and restaurant in hotel is also excellent. Best room service I have ever had. The hotel exudes old-world charm even though it was just re-opened in 1997. The rooms are full of dark-stained wood, high-quality furniture and cold air-thanks to the air conditioning! The thoughtful bedside controls allow you to control all lights and the AC in your room without leaving your bed! Highly highly recommend

Stopped in the café for a quick latte and cake. The cashier suggested a lemon pound cake. It had good flavor, it was dry and likely a day past its prime. My brother had a sandwich, which did me the expectations. My mocha drink was tasty and prices reflected value received. The service was friendly and prompt. The setting is, of course, beautiful. I’ll have to try a different item in the bake case the next time.
