One of the worst hostels I've ever experienced. As soon as we stepped into the room, an awful stench overwhelmed us, and to our horror, the carpet was littered with food crumbs. Despite our initial disappointment, my friends and I decided to tough it out and stayed there for three nights. However, our hopes quickly diminished as we discovered bedbugs on the very first night. We promptly approached the management, seeking a resolution. Regrettably, their response fell far short of our expectations. Instead of offering a refund or alternative accommodation, they simply provided us with tokens for complimentary use of the laundry facilities. While this gesture was appreciated, it did little to alleviate the discomfort and inconvenience we endured throughout our stay. One of my friends suffered the most unfortunate consequences, with numerous bedbug bites covering his body. His discomfort was palpable, and it cast a shadow over the entire trip. We were forced to spend an excessive amount of time repeatedly washing our belongings and meticulously inspecting every nook and cranny to ensure we were free from these pests. Overall, our experience at this hostel was nothing short of a nightmare. The pervasive foul odor, unhygienic conditions, and presence of bedbugs made our stay extremely unpleasant. I would strongly advise against choosing this establishment, as it resulted in wasted time, discomfort, and a tarnished travel experience.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I have had a TERRIBLE experience at this hostel! extremely poor management. I had to move rooms 5 times in the 6 nights I stayed due to the hostel overbooking. Woken up by staff to move rooms without notice. Key card locked out, couldn't get my possessions. Not enough linen for the bed. Check out each day wait around for hours and re-check in and made to feel like I was a burden. The list of issues went on and on. I was shocked on how poor this hostels was managed. A traumatizing experience. Choose another hostel

This was, undoubtedly, the worst service experience of my life. Not only were they unresponsive but they were actively misleading. For example, we asked about the laundry services to which we were told you needed coins and there was detergent in the room. None of this was true. Upon asking another member of staff, we realised we actually needed to purchase specifically from them special tokens and the detergent. The noise from the street was unbearable which wouldn't be an issue if the room wasn't unreasonably hot with no way of cooling it down. Meaning you either sleep through immense noise or immense heat. And don't get me started on the ridiculous power plug locations. For those who are concerned about sleeping well, I hope you like the feeling of metal springs gouging out your back all night, because the mattress is thinner than a pretzel that's been run over by a semi-trailer. Worth noting you aren't allowed to bring any alcohol into the hostel, you have to buy from them and consume in the lobby.

A total nightmare! Police now investigates the staff after illegal actions, for instance trying to steal the guests mobile phones and interfere in police work. I had a flight in the morning and needed a place to basically just sleep. I had stayed at Industriepalast on several occasions because the express train to the airport is just outside. Over the years more and more mentally ill drugaddicts and traumatized war refugees have been placed there by Berlin. I booked a female dorm, we were four women. I arrived 7 pm, enjoyed a meal with some other travelers and had nice chats to the two roommates I met, had a shower and we went to bed early as we were leaving next morning. In the middle of the night the fourth woman arrived. Long story short: when we switched on the light in the morning as you need to change the bed, check you bring all your stuff etc, this woman started to attack. She hit a guest several times, screamed that the guest must die, blocked the door and kept two guests hostages. All while screaming hysterically and hitting out for phones as people tried to call for help. She made it impossible to dial police by hitting mobile phones out of guests hands. She herself called the reception and pretended to be a victim drama queen style. Finally staff opened the door from the outside, hostage asked "help me!" and as guest was leaving - already late for airport - the staff did nothing to stop the raving lunatic running downstairs in pyjamas hitting out. She claimed other guests had filmed the attack. The staff, instead of calling the police, themselves took the role as police men. Staff members demanded to have the evidence from guests and claimed they has to erase it. Evidence is only for the police investigation. No receptionist at a hostel have the authority to confiscate and destroy important police evidence. All while a dozen other guests witnessed. It continued as guest wanted to pick up the prepared travel food in the kitchen. This hostel, unlike others, have knives visable and easy reachable by the sink. Staff let the mentally ill absolutely mad woman into the small kitchen going for the guest who tried to collect her food and check out. The staff should offcourse have called police straight away after the hostage situation and then hold down the culpit to the ground by force until police could put handcloves on and arrest her. The rest of us were shocked. Mentally ill people exists here and there in society. Hostel staff on the other hand are paid to keep their guests safe. The staff at Industriepalast were partial with the violent lunatic. She was a meter away from grabbing a kitchen knife. More guests had breakfast in the kitchen. It could have ended a blood bath. A hostel has to have a plan for attacks, stay neutral, call police instead of thinking about their reputation. They need training on how to handle such situations and how the German law works. Now the staff even tried to stop the guests to go to the airport, made threats and tried to quiet us and delete evidence so police wouldnt be able to identify the culpit. Never will I return. They lost a regular, well behaving guest.

They broke the lock of the cupboard and put all my belongings in a packet in office, while I was outside at work. They forgot to also tell me or ask before doing this. They also forgot to tell me that I must change my room for some reason. This is during the time of my stay at the hostel. In the same time, I also lost some of my clothes, which they could not take responsibility for. The reaction was hat they will write a letter and get back to me with a response, but that never happened. I wrote to booking.com and they said they will reimburse 20.37 euros (which by the way was not consulted with me, to check if this amount is equivalent of what I lost). If you want an adventurous place to stay, where the owners do not take responsibility for unnecessary inconvenience that they cause, and instead they say it is not their problem, you are welcome to choose this place. If you have a problem, then the boss is not around to solve it as "he comes on Monday."

The hostel is lovely, well taken care of, aestheticaly pleasing with its minimalistic and industrial design. It is located in a really good location, just opposite of Warschauer Strasse. The staff are super friendly and the beds were comfortable with 1 charging slot located with the bed right next to a small shelf. The dorm room is very spacious, with a large table in the middle and lockers tostore personal belongings. The bathrooms are located close to the dorm room and the each shower has a small shelf to hold stuff on them. Overall, the hostel is excellent with a lovely lobby where one can chill and drink. Looking forward to my next stay there!

Got a €60 night deal for 2 persons. Good for what we paid. I mean, one night at Berlin can easily costs over €100. Gotta appreciate this place

Great value!! Clean! I stayed 3 nights for a total of 46 USD. Friendly staff, good space, clean facilities. Everything i needed(: When i checked in, i was informed of wifi, but i did not know that i needed to pay for bedding (2.20 EUR), towel (1.5 EUR), and deposit for lock (5 EUR). Nor did i get informed that there was a kitchen where you can store food (refrigerator and freezer). All these things i had to ask for, which meant going back and forth to the reception. It would be nice with a laminated card for the receptionist to briefly highlight the amenities at the hostel when checking in and especially inform of the bedding and towels. If i am to visit this side of berlin again, i would certainly want to stay here(:

The location is ok, however, it is located near a train station so it can get quite loud. It is also located near clubs so hearing drunk people is also quite common. There is a mall near the hotel which is a nice addition. The staff was quite rude and seemed to not want to work there at all. The rooms were a bit dusty and warm and lacked amenities such as soap which should be included, even in a hostel. However, they were quite spacious and the beds were comfortable but also small and a bit unstable. The things you can get during breakfast are very lackluster and they lack any kind of quality, so it’s best to just buy something at a bakery or in a supermarket.

Awesome location, in the shared rooms the beds are fine (the smaller private rooms the beds are MUCH better, I’ve been here before), staff is really chill, communal toilets and showers are always clean and beers are cheap. Travelling with a large or small group and don’t wanna spend too much but don’t lack out on atmosphere? This is the spot. Food and späti’s ENOUGH, and the Nepalese dumplings on the corner are to die for.

Clean, get what you pay for a hostel. We got the double private en-suite and it was perfect for our stay, no complaints at all! Near to the train station as well and walking distance from the East Side Gallery and lots of good eateries and bars!

A safe and affordable choice for a hostel! It is very bare bones, but there's nothing inherently wrong with that! You will room with multiple other people here, so make sure you bring either ear plugs or headphones to drown out the snoring. There is very little privacy, but hostels present you with a great opportunity to befriend other travelers. There are delicious Turkish and Chinese restaurants nearby.

Ansonsten echt super.

I had a private room with private bathroom. It was clean l, comfortable and very good value for money. Breakfast was extra but had it once and for 9 Euro it was really good. Staff are friendly and location is good. Next door is the cool Michelberger bar and hotel. I had drinks and lates there some times.

Stayed in many hostels throughout my travels in Europe and this was by far the worst one. Bed linens cost extra. Staff was rude. Kitchen closed early. Must make bed and strip bed yourself. Strict about no outside alcohol policy. Not 18+ so we experienced MANY rowdy young teens. Elderly man that seemed to be living in our shared dorm full time and was not polite. Loud throughout the entire night. Showers on a timer that turn off about every 5 seconds. Food stolen from kitchen.

Very clean and good located. Otherwise terrible. Just to name a few issues: Had to pay extra for sheets My room was facing the street so nonstop loud noise, no sleep No sockets to plug in my charger Shower with extreme pressure that you have to press every 2 seconds … no thank you

Much more attention should be paid to cleaning of kitchen and showers. The only adequate host was a woman with pony-tail, others seems tired of their job and not ready to deal with guests problems.

Amazing location, the wall gallery is just behind the hostel, you can move very easily with the metro or bus from there to anywhere. The rooms are the biggest I have ever seen in a hostel, but they lack of a privacy curtain, the beds are ok not too comfortable, and you have a sink, mirrors and lockers inside. The city tax is expensive (19 euros) so for 1 day I payed almost 50 euros in total. They have storage luggage service so if you come early you can leave your stuff there for free. The bathroom are clean and the showers have this unbelievable water pressure which is nice.

pretty good breakfast, nice staff. showers could be cleaner tho. the room I was in was overbooked, that was kinda a problem. and my keycard stopped working like once a day, always had to go down to the reception to get it fixed.

Stayed there for 1 night for a concert. The hotel is in a great location within walking distance to the mercedes benz arena and the u-bahn. There are lots of fantastic places to eat near the hotel too (specifically the falafel places) The hotel itself is lovely, staff is welcoming and helpful. Rooms are big and clean, bathrooms are perfect too :) Not a single complaint from me!

Good quality/price. Staff really friendly. Id say this hostel is ok only if you’re young and you don’t mind risking having very strange/mentally ill people in the room.

Location is super close to tram, ubahn, sbahn etc, and righr next to it is the east side mall The showers on the first floor were a little iffy and the sheets werent totally clean but the room was very okay. Definetly better than what u pay for! Good cheap hostel!!

The lobby at the reception was like a train station. the service is lazy.. they didn't even think to offer drinks.. or help with luggage. rooms not air-conditioned, small bathroom. Rather a worse standard! Breakfast offer also not much! I know that I will not use this hostel again for my next visits to Berlin.

The hostel is very spacious and the rooms are very well ventilated, but the showers were very dirty. It looked like they were not clean the whole weekend.

I loved my time at this hostel. The beds were all spaced out so well with a great communal area within the room. It’s located right beside the east side gallery which is pretty popular and the train is right beside so super easy to get into the centre. Staff all really friendly too. Would really recommend :)

The rooms were very cheap, but it was a great stay! It had a nice industry vibe and everything was well furnitured and cozy. The staff were helping with a lot of stuff. They were also very friendly and polite. 11/10

The staff ist really nice. But in the Schlafsaal with 8 beds, there are no power outlets near the beds and no safe space for luggage (you have to pay extra 5 euros if you want to storage your things safely). The beds are kind of ok and the toilets are clean. For one night is fine.

  • 5/5 S 1 year ago on Google
We got a very spacious room with sink and mirror inside + lockers next to each bed. Toilets and showers were close to the room, very clean and well-kept. There is an option to leave your luggage downstairs in the locker

Really good hostel. The pillows was a bit yellow and underneath the bed was not so clean. But what can you expect from a hostel? Really good service, cheap beers and nice people. Would do again.
