Classical Berlin from a time, when Kastanienalle was no partyzone. Super clean and nice room. As it is not an international hotel chain, you clearly feel like staying in Berlin, and not just anywhere in the world.

The hotel is walking distance to the center, but there are many stores and restaurants in the area. There is a tram stop (M1) in front of the hotel that takes you to the city center. It looked like a safe area if you want to walk around there during the night. Our room was clean, and people were friendly.

Lovely hotel to base ourselves for a short break to Berlin. Comfortable rooms, good value and friendly staff. It was well situated for a number for transport and a number of tourist destinations. Neighbourhood was quiet and felt very safe. Would recommend.

Wonderful hotel! We had a room which faced the courtyard, so it was quiet (some rooms face the main road which has trams, but windows seem to do a great job in isolating sounds). Personnel was absolutely wonderful, very helpful and extremly nice, they always seem to go the extra mile to help you. Breakfast seems expensive (it’s paid extra, not included with the room), but if you like to eat a big breakfast you end up paying a similar price at the coffee shops nearby, so for us it was worth it (we ate the first days breakfast outside of the hotel and last 4 days at the hotel). Also it is worth it if you eat less and want to pay extra for silence and convenience (some breakfast places nearby don’t always have available seating and they may be full in the morning). The Hotel is well connected, tram right in front, and central metro line at a 8 min nice walk. A lot of nice pubs and places to eat nearby, including kebab just across when you need some “fast” food. Lidl (supermarket) is 3-4 min away and there are small shops were you can buy water and all 10 seconds away. So, as a conclusion, highly recommend!

Sehr familiäre Atmosphäre. Die Zimmer sind gut, sehr sauber. Im Sommer empfehle ich Comfortzimmer, da die Standard Zimmer zur Straße gehen. Wir kommen gerne wieder. Parkplätze im Innenhof durch Tor gesichert. Frühstück war sehr lecker und günstig. In den Fluren und Zimmern hängt eine bemerkenswerte Sammlung von alten Berliner Karten und Stadtplänen, sowie Postkarten. Sehr ansprechend dekoriert

Where to start with this wonderful pension in a VERY cool part of Berlin. The rooms are no-frills, but comfortable. The hotel is run by very friendly and accommodating people. The location is perfect with a tram stop right outside the hotel's front doors. The neighborhood is amazing and quintessential Berlin. Can't wait to come back!

Sehr zentral gelegen, freundlich. Erhielt 10% im im angeschlossenen Restaurant. Die Zimmer sind schon in die Jahre gekommen, jedoch sehr bequem, sauber. Preis/Leistung stimmt. Doppelzimmer war zur Strasse und war entspannt.

Great location for touring Berlin. Tram service in front and bus system close by to reach tourist destinations. Comfortable, clean rooms with friendly staff. Lift to reach rooms on higher levels. Breakfast ( is substantial and convenient if desired), parking and laundry service available for fee. There is a lot of German history within the walls of this home.

Endlich mal ein Hotel mit vernünftiger Duschvorrichtung! 👌 Alles sauber und ordentlich. Frühstück ist auch lecker gewesen vor allem die selbstgemachten Aufstriche. Kann es nur weiterempfehlen! 👌

Great! Lovely room, everywhere you see attention to detail, breakfast buffet was not only good, but even beautifully arranged. Tram stop is a few steps away.

Loved the location in a beautiful neighborhood, played football and ping pong at the neighborhood park every day. Close to restaurants and cafes, that are filled with locals. Definitely stay here if you want to experience how Berliners live.

A little rustic, but nice hotel in the former East Berlin.

Schönes Hotel in Top-Lage (allein die wunderbaren Restaurants in der Nähe!) und mit guter Verkehrsanbindung. Sauber, mit freundlichen Mitarbeiterinnen. Und preiswert noch dazu! Ich hatte ein Zimmer zum Hof, das absolut ruhig war. Sehr zu empfehlen!!

Very nice hotel just in the heart of Prenzlauer district. Sparkling clean, spacious and most importantly with extremely friendly and helpful stuff! We will be back for sure🏩

A very good hotel in the best spot of Berlin! Everything is very good about this hotel. It also has a bike rental and that is a good way to explore Berlin.

Right on a streetcar line so it is very easy to get out into the city.

My family, friends and I have been staying at hotel Kastanienhof for years now. The service is always great, they really look out for you. The interiour is a bit aged, but I actually like that a lot, it gives character, it is very clean and well taken care of. They also rent out bikes, these are very good and a must if you want to see more than just the city center, and the hotel is in the middle of the best area in Berlin and the tram stops in front of the door. 10/10 will visit again.

Nice smallish hotel in convenient location. Everything was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. The room safe needed a 1 Eu coin each time it was used, but you could rent a key from reception which was just 1 Eu a day. The onsite restaurant was excellent too.

Large family room, perfectly clean. Adorable staff. Possible to rent bikes. Courtyard to park car and bikes. Good breakfast. Excellent restaurant. And a perfect location. The curtains can be closed to get an almost completely dark room, which is not a standard in Germany. The decoration is definitely not trendy, but the price-quality ratio is hard to beat. Our standard accommodation when we travel to Berlin!

Noisy location, could not sleep at night. Asked for a new room and was declined. Shower was very small.

Nice little old style hotel. Best location! Kastanien Alle is in the perfect neighborhood with excellent food, drink and small shops. Rooms are simple but clean and nice. Parking can be purchased if needed. Skip the breakfast and choose one of the excellent cafes nearby.

A wonderful hotel in a great location. Our room was spotless, quiet, and quite comfortable. The hotel even has a lift which makes getting your bags to your room easier. There are lots of good food choices nearby and it is right near a tram stop for convenient access to the rest of the city. Tip - We opted out of the rather expensive breakfast and simply found a nearby coffee shop where two of us had a light breakfast for less than half the cost of the hotel breakfast. Our stay here was a great experience.
