Another reviewer has pointed out that this isn’t actually a hotel, just a hostel with private showers. A pretty good description, though personally I’d say that staying at Hotel Amelie is more like staying in the spare room of someone who doesn’t like you. You are in a kind of box room, with a bed that is smaller than you. You will be woken up before 8am by an amazing crashing of bins being taken out and/or put back. Breakfast is entirely made of long-life processed food, presumably so it can be taken away, stored and put back the next day. Not very appetising. There is supposed to be wi-fi. It will not work in your room. If you go to the reception area it will work, but so slowly that it is no use for any practical purpose in the 21st century. I don’t understand how it is even possible to have an internet connection that works at 300kbps/s (dial-up modem speed) in 2023, but here it is. If you explain your predicament, the staff will reveal that they have another network that works perfectly well, but of course not in your room. So a bit useless if you’re working while you’re here, as the “reception” area where the wi-fi works isn’t open a lot of the time. If this was a hotel you’d be able to get a coffee pretty much any time, either making it in your room or at reception, possibly by paying for it. But reception is closed and there’s no coffee there anyway, and you have no facilities in your room (not even water glasses), so forget that. Overall, if you’re not planning to sleep, eat breakfast, work, or drink coffee while you’re in Berlin, it’s fine. But otherwise you’d be better off somewhere else.

It's not a hotel, they just have some rooms from the building next door that they rent. The room we stayed in was old, with a lot of damage, in the dust, 2/3 beds were comfortable, wrinkled sheets, old wooden windows, old dirty curtains, no air conditioning or fan (we opened the window and it noisy in the morning due to work), the internet was slow, the bathroom was old with wear on the wooden bench. For all the days we stayed there was no room service for cleaning and changing sheets, towels, garbage or toilet paper. They generally have an issue with cleanliness. It includes breakfast which has cheap products from Lidl and not a big variety, but you can put as much food as you want and at least fill your belly, so that's a positive. Also, the staff, even though very few spoke English, was polite. The location is very good near the center. Generally overpriced, needs renovation and cleaning.

The reason why I grade this one 3-Stars because it’s not as clean as expected, small rooms but closed to berlin center though. I would pick Holiday Inn Express City Center over this one.

Do not do business with this hotel! Spend the extra money and go somewhere that has a better review and has it's own parking. I had to unfortunately cancel my reservation due to my child becoming COVID19 positive. I phoned their receptionist to explain the situation. They told me that Booking.com handles the refunds. I spoke with Booking.com and they told me the exact opposite. The receptionist blatantly lied to me. I received an email from hotel explaining me that they are sorrowful for my situation but would not refund 115.90 Euro out of the 120 I paid. They are liars, thieves and are full of s@$#!

Liked: 1. centrally located with roadside parking front of the door. 2. Rooms are clean so as the bathrooms. 3. Decent wifi speed(though many complained about poor quality ) 4. New bath/hand towels each day Disliked: 1. No wheel chair access reception and/or hotel entrance 2. Mediocre breakfast with limited to no choice 3. Breakfast timing is just 8-10am 4. No 24/7 service desk 5. Rooms and/or bathrooms are lacking essentials 6. Staffs are robotic-no gestures to treat guests

The Service was a big zero, they dont answer for the phone and never open the door for the reception. We wanted to eat our breakfast what we already payed for, they told us at night we can go to eat from 8am but Nobody Was there, the door was also closed. So finally we payed for nothing. No parking options neather.... The woman in the reception didnt understand any language (neither german...). I dont understand how somebody can work as receptionist without any language knowledge?

Stayed at Hotel Amelie for two nights, this is what I thought... -Room was spacious, but nothing fancy. Clean & comfortable. Just somewhere to drop off your stuff & get rested up for the next day.Shower had great water pressure. -The location was awesome. We walked everywhere from here. -Breakfast was pretty good. Just the standard bread & cheese & meats. But there was plenty & it was great way to start off the day. -The staff was amazing. Let us borrow an adapter for our travel transformer & we were able to leave our bags there before check in & after check out. -There isn't any kind of elevator or lift, so our bags were kind of a pain. More of a slight inconvenience then anything else. This hotel as far as accommodations go, is really just three stars. The location, price & staff really bump it quit a bit though.

Good place for its price. I’d recommend this place 1. Great location. 10 min walking to Bode museum, 15 min walking to Bundestag. 2. Kind staff. 3. Free breakfast and daily cleanings. Among expectable disadvantages: 1. Not that comfortable bed and pillows 2. Noisy neighbors

Lowest effort ‘hotel’ possible - terrible beds, ancient plywood style creaky flooring, no internet as advertised, ‘breakfast’ that is the cheapest on sale stuff from Aldi, super loud hallways… Staff is nice at least.

Great Location in the Center with superb traffic connection. For the price the rooms are good. Even a breakfast is included.

Two single beds pushed together in a clean room in the annex. En-suite bathroom. Breakfast included and very good. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have hugely enhanced the experience. General store right beside the hotel was very handy.

I have booked 1 single room (of course with bathroom in the room) and prepaid using booking.com . They gave me a dirty room with toilet in the corridor . No way to have the room i paid for. Found cockroaches in the room the second night. I doubt they have ever cleaned my room in 5 days. The rooms are not at the address where the reception is .

Very very basic. More like a air bnb rather than hotel. Bit expensive for what it has to offer. Location is good. Quite central.

Nice cheaper option for us 4 traveling. Our double bed was 120 cm wide so not the comfiest for two adults, but fine. Two main bed were good and comfy. Breakfast was nice and had wide variety of option. Everything worked out well and had a nice stay in middle of winter.
