I really liked the hotel as it was up to standard. The location was good and the room was clean. There were amenities available but the maintenance could’ve been better. The room I stayed in had a faulty shower head, a poor bathtub drainage, and a broken toilet seat plastic. I think these things could be better managed and maintained, hence why I reduced the stars. Generally, the staff are super helpful and I had a great time at the hotel.

This hotel has the WORST SECURITY and WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE that we have ever experienced. Late at night someone without knocking our door entered the room and seeing our reaction left the room. When we tried to figure out what was going on, the receptionists even didn’t make the slightest effort to answer our questions. We were scared and didn’t left the room at that time. In the morning when we tried to understand what happened they said we don’t know about it and we can’t do anything about it. It seems that manager does not exist at all or at least the receptionists avoid calling the manager in case of problems. I think that at first of all, the hotel itself should make efforts to ensure the safety of the hotel, but in this case the impression was that no one was interested that someone entered the room at night without knocking. When they said that they were not going give an explanation of what happened, we called the POLICE.. When the police arrived, they deceived the police by saying that they had mistakenly given the key to someone else. Now, the police are reporting on what happened. Hopefully, they will at least understand that the hotel in Berlin should not be confused with primitive and backward barns and the security of hotel customers is more than important. For sure we will write the supervisors of the hotel to compensate our stay.

I had seen many bad reviews but when I visited, I was super happy with my stay. Hotel gives you a more expensive vibe than it actually is. Rooms are relatively clean and big. There is a restaurant below. Prices in restaurant are a little high but what to do. Corridors and rooms are definitely quiet. I had to do some work in the evening and never heard anything disturbing. I recommend staying here unless you are a Karen.

Decent price, great breakfast, great public transport connection. Sometimes you have to wait longer for the lift. For me the mattress was way too soft. But all the negatives are worth the price. I would definitely choose the same hotel next time.

Well. The staff was very friendly and the bed was comfy and clean. But the whole place looks like it somehow got stuck in the 70s. Very odd smells everywhere. The refrigerator inside my room was as loud as a transformer station. The shower wasn't able to hold a steady water temperature. And they'll charge you 4,50€ for the bottle of mineral water which awaits you in your room. In most 4* hotels I've been those usually come for free. Overall I'd say this hotel will do. But I definitely don't recommend it.

Set in an uninspired high density residential area. Ok, it's not so expensive, but it feels a bit shabby and worn. So far, the staff have been great, but the building is tired. Uniquely a hotel that provides a kettle, two sweeteners, but no mugs, coffee or spoons? Room is looking messy and unloved. No shower wash either.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. It’s huge: it contains 3 skyscrapers. Main advantage is price and quite good location (it’s not in the city center but there’s good public transport). The room and bathroom was big and quite clean. The beds were comfortable too. Main disadvantage was lack of working air conditioning. We visited during summer and it was hard to stand the heat. There was also no fridge so we couldn’t even drink something cold… no kettle as well if someone like to drink warm drinks during colder months.

Terribly experience with the staff (you won’t get into the actual hotel buildings). Glad that I went through all of the troubles to cancel the reservation on the spot and found for nearly the same price (7 Euros more) the Amano hotel.

This is an old building built in the soviet era, which can be a fun fact. Also stated that recently renovated. BUT it turned out without noise cancellation even on a minimal level! You could hear when somehow whispered on the hallway, the neighbour opened the luggage or opened his door. Sit on the bed or was chatting. Clicked the remote on the TV. So only for those how loves the company in their own room! Staff was ok. Room was clean, but old equipments in the bathroom, doors are old. The general hotel condition is below average. Do not recommend at all. It was so unbearable we even quitted from the idea to ask for spare room and have left immediately. Completly lost the trust in the hotel. If they were ok with this service level provided to their guests for relaxing in the rooms then we imagined how the hotel would have cared for any other issues might would occurre during our 3 night stay. There are way better options even in the neighbourhood.

Was here on sports camp travel. Excellent traveling options to the city center about 25min away. Close to the sports academy, 10min by walking. Food at the hotel, basic continental spread, well seasoned, and kept clean very well. Enjoyed my our stay. Traveling to the location was two athletes 9 and 10 plus an adult .

Recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately, my experience was marred by extremely poor customer service. From check-in, the staff exhibited a complete lack of professionalism and courtesy except one young receptionist that came in to fix our checking-in problem when he saw that none of his colleagues wanted to help us. Rooms are very spacious and clean, they tidy them every day and that was a plus that I must give. Toilet was ok but the shower is either very hot or very cold. During our stay some kids that stayed in the same time as us, ( I guess it was a school trip ) messed around with the elevator and they spit on the mirror inside, they knocked at my door at night a lot. In conclusion, I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel until they address their customer service issues. A pleasant stay should be a given when paying for accommodations, and unfortunately, this establishment falls far short of that expectation

You hardly find as good hotel for this price in Berlin. Yes, the location could be better, and having a cattle would be nice, but the rooms are clean and the service is great. Also, I don’t recommend taking a breakfast at hotel, it doesn’t worth its money. Instead, take an 8 min morning walk to Plötners cafe, it is twice as cheap and way more tasty.

I read so many bad reviews about this hotel but wow, I didn't expect there will be so good, especially comparing to the price. My room looked better than on pictures - very big and clean. Staff was nice and helpful and it is so close to the tram station! Of course some things could be better but comparing to the price, it really deserves 5 stars.

Myself and two friends recently stayed in this hotel. The room was lovely, clean and spacious. My only thing would be that there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room itself. Unfortunately, noise travels easily in this hotel, I could hear people walking around above me and other loud noises/sounds. My friends had a similar experience. The location was pretty ok, its a five minute walk to the tram stop and twenty ish minutes on the tram to Alexander platz. We ate in the restaurant Prime in the evenings which was nice but service was a bit slow. The staff at breakfast were lovely, and friendly however the reception staff not so much. We found them to be somewhat unpleasant, it was almost like we inconvenienced them by asking questions when arrived.

Except for the one very friendly and kind receptionist who managed to finally get us into our rooms, this hotel has the most unpleasant and unfriendly staff I have ever seen in my life. We booked and paid for our rooms months in advance, and yet our rooms were not ready until the aforementioned receptionist took over and settled the issue (45 minutes after the advertised check-in time). The rooms themselves are fine, beds are big and comfy, lots of space for storing your clothes and belongings, nice TV, fridge, microwave oven...lots of dust on the furniture surfaces, though. On the other hand, the bathroom is awful. Lots of rust, no hand towel hanger, toilet paper holder doesn't function, and the shower is the worst part: you need to let the cold water run for a couple of minutes before you get hot water. Even then, the water temperature keeps changing on its own, from lukewarm to scorching hot! The breakfast buffet was nice with a good selection of food and drinks, though in my opinion a bit overpriced (16€ per person). One last bit about other guests - we shared the floor with lots of young pupils who seemed to be on a school trip. They kept running, yelling, pulling stupid pranks like knocking on the door and running away, throwing tourist brochures all over the hallway, pressing every button in the elevator, spitting all over the elevator mirror, etc. Really obnoxious.

Room was good, shower nearly knocks you off your feet. Bed was very uncomfortable though, and although we booked a double we got a twin and had to push the beds together. This was ok until you moved when sleeping and I ended up on the floor 3 nights out of 5. So not great Restaurant was fantastic, food at breakfast was amazing, evening menu limited though. Staff were great, housekeeping amazing. Location great with trams nearby. No shops or restaurants nearby though. A good 15 minute walk to the nearest one.

Perfect hotel right on top of the trams to get into town. Room was lovely and clean. Bed comfortable. Wifi and a handy little shop however very expensive in there, didn't use the restaurant. Friendly staff. Would love to stay again :)

We r required to take their stairs carrying our luggages to our hotel room at level 3 as the lift is not working for the whole 24 hrs. The shower water has unstable temperature. There is no water or kettle available in the room. Even the wifi is not functioning. The breakfast has limited choices as well. Not sure how we survive the whole night but luckily we did.

  • 1/5 Yong Taur T. 11 months ago on Google
When I reached the hotel the lift is not working, the staff asked us to use staircase and we have to move our luggage up to 3rd floor. No kettle, WiFi is working but unable to get connected, room service phone is not working, hot water for bathing is not working too. The breakfast is not tasty and the staff is not helpful at all. Trust me, please change a hotel for your happy trips.

There were so many tour groups during our stay, only one lift was working @ our wing and they were short of staff - poor working staff who had to work extra hard. One guy found a spider in the cup and showed it to me. Its ok - just a harmless spider

The hotel looks like it is under construction. Not necessarily a bad thing for us since the rooms are very nice and clean. However, we got put into a joint family room wherein 2 apartments are seperated by a single layer door. Noise from next door was basically unbearable. Especially when they start singing from 5 AM. Tried to speak to the person next door to no avail. Called reception twice but did not do any effort to solve the problem whatsoever. For it's prices, the hotel is fine but In our opinion, such a miserable experience altogether.

Stayed here for 2 nights. +Very nice and competent staff in the reception. +Super nice breakfast -Was able to draw "Clean me!" In the dust in the room. -Shower handle broken so spraying water everywhere.

  • 4/5 Edmon M. 8 months ago on Google
The room was of a good comfortable size and clean The furniture is basic and simple, and there is also an air conditioner. Close to the tram station. The thing that bothered me was that the reception desk was in the next building.

CLEANER STOLE $140 USD from our hotel room!! We stayed 2 nights through a package tour with Europamundo. After the 1st night, we left this hotel (Grand City Hotel in East Berlin) around 8am for breakfast and the tour bus. We had already placed the hotel's red "Do Not Disturb" sign on our door knob for many hours before we left, because we didn't want anyone entering the room. When we returned at 11pm, the beds were made, our pajamas were in a different spot, my money belt (inside my backpack) was opened, the contents not in their normal location, and from the $300 USD cash in there was $140 missing. I think the thief hoped I wouldn't notice or just think that had spent the money, but I recorded exactly how much cash I borrowed for the trip (2 $100 and 5 $20) in case I needed to exchange money, but I hadn't used any of it since I had also brought Euros & used the ATM to withdraw local currency. My family's ID/passports & credit/debit cards were in the same money belt so the biggest concern now is fraud & identity theft. We filed a police report, waited to speak to the housekeeping manager (who blamed ME for not keeping the money in the safe -- in what world is it permissible for cleaners to look for and take money that is not in the safe?!) and the cleaning manager & her 2 translators -- she SMIRKED at me, told me to prove it with evidence, told me that I had not been in the room from 8am until 4pm (INCORRECT, as later verified through hotel records that it was the cleaner who was in at 4pm, not me), said this never happened before where money went missing, they trust all their cleaners who have been with them for 5+ years. Earlier I was told by another hotel staff that this HAS happened before, but rarely. They said, how could I be out for so long without money, are you sure I didn't spend it? I said, it was US dollars that can't be spent in Germany, I had Euros with me and my husband had his credit card. They said, the cleaners are busy, why would they take the time to look through my things? I said, I returned at 11pm with exhausted kids, why would I bring them back down to report this to the hotel reception & in the middle of the night file a police report, lock/cancel my credit cards, put fraud alerts for all family members, & meet with the policeman when they came to the hotel at 6:47am?! When I confronted the cleaning manager & her 2 translators about these inconsistencies, they said they didn't have time and they walked off. Later the hotel manager at least made a sincere apology but now it's up to the Berlin police to make sure the cleaner doesn't steal from hotel guests again.

Good location, not very clean 😑 The room was so stinky, and the bathroom was total failure. Smelled really bad. We told the receptionist, so they cleaned it. When we checked in, the hand soap wasn't full, and they never refilled it. The bed sheets had spots. The air-condition wasn't working properly 😀 The location is good near the tram

room was awful, there was no charging points near bed. service was too bad, they don’t gave us cups, medicine, ice(with free, it costs 12 euros) and location is too far from the center.

I really recommend this hotel. The price is adequate to the quality of rooms, services, food. Rooms are comfy, have AC. They are well equipped (even to prepare some meal by yourself because there’s a small kitchenette, fridge, microwave). Views from rooms are not bad. There is a lift. The staff is very nice, speaking in German, English. Breakfast is quite delicious, selection is really decent. Location of the hotel is rather worse feature, but it’s not a big problem, because there are tram stations around the hotel and you can get directly to the city centre in less than 30 minutes by tram. Even more I’d recommend getting by tram to one of the nearest U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations and use this type of transport as these run on the tracks above- or underground and are way faster. To sum up, the City Hotel Berlin East is noteworthy. I’d likely stay at this place once again while being in Berlin ☺️👍🏻

Good option for a low price . Breakfast was good, but at weekends sometimes is busy and can miss some options of food in the menu . If you don’t want to be disturbed by the housekeeper, leave the tag in the door , otherwise they just enter anyway ! They have few staffs , so if you need any extra help, maybe you will have a bad experience. The room ( loft) was big and comfortable.

We had a nice stay here. Room was quiet and big enough. Housekeeping was also way good. Just the beds may be improved. Good when compared to its price

  • 1/5 Aleksey R. 2 years ago on Google
Very noisy rooms. I mean, they have a door between each two rooms and you can hear every breath of your neighbor. Guests are noisy at night too, so you can't sleep at all. No fridge, no kettle, nothing useful is in the room. Staff is 50/50, some of them are helpful, some are not at all. Room design is not that bad, but I can't say it's good. In general, 2/10 because of noise every second. Unlivable.

Not the most attractive exterior or location but spacious and spotless rooms. Ample parking and friendly staff. In a residential area with typical 70s East German architecture. Great if that’s your thing, but a little bleak if you were expecting something like the K’Dam…

Very clean and excellent covid standards. Can’t grumble too much for a city centre hotel for 79€ but… The place could do with a bit of tlc. I get covid has been hard on the leisure industry but howay lads and lasses pull your socks up and give the place a kick of paint.

For a single person, it was good value for money. Big room and very nice staff! Fitness room: only a few machines, no sauna as a picture shows. Curtains in the room had stains and a small fridge would be nice. A bit noisy even when i was on the 8th floor and someone opened the door to vacuum in the morning while i was still in the room! Thank God I had my door chain on, or else the cleaner would have seen me with my underwear.

Hotel was ok. Location is easy to access, right in front of two tram stations with connections to central Berlin. Check in was at Holiday Inn's reception - we arrived after midnight but it was no fuss and the receptionist was very friendly. Issue we had was that the room had no air con/heating and it was rather warm in Berlin for our entire stay, so the room got boiling during the day. Luckily they provide a fan which is a nice little addition but doesn't help all the time. Beds were comfy and the shower worked, albeit a little old. Could do with a bit of refreshing in places but our stay was great value for what we paid.

Facilities were horrendous (slow lift, no heating in rooms, faulty shower head) but the rooms were very comfortable and large. My favourite thing was the customer service! The staff were so friendly and sweet, especially Larissa at the reception

  • 3/5 simo n. 1 year ago on Google
First of all the room wasn’t dirty but it wasn’t clean as well. The room looked a bit lifeless and cold. But the customer service was good. The best part was the breakfast menu, you were able to choose from a lot of different kinds of food. My stay was for only one night tho. The room had a fan, which I didn’t use so I can’t say anything about it.

Rooms are spacious and clean with smart TVs, closets, safe. Bathrooms have bathtub and hot running water. AC was not working. Oddly there are no mini-fridges and no kettles which limits the option to drink something cold or hot in the room. The location is little odd too with very few restaurants available. Breakfast is decent but the options remain fixed everyday. The nearest public transport station is the Landsberger Allee tram station.

  • 5/5 Richard K. 1 year ago on Google
Very nice hotel, located in East Berlin with a excellent connection to the trams which will take you to all the highlights in 30-40min. The rooms are clean, the service is nice and helpful and the breakfast is just what you'd expect. The price/quality ratio is perfect. Recommended to use as a base to explore Berlin!

  • 3/5 Juan Bautista H. A. 1 year ago on Google
Most UNFRIENDLY and haughty front desk staff towards non-German speaking tourists. Beware: if they know your passport number, it's simple enough for one of them to call the airport to say you LOST your passport just to hassle you. The only saving grace of this hotel is the excellent breakfast buffet.

  • 3/5 Andrew C. 1 year ago on Google
Hotel was decently priced for four nights, and room was quite large and clean. Staff were friendly. AC in the room felt non-existent, even with the window open the room was very hot. Also was left waiting for the elevator for far too long. The building had two elevators, and only one worked (no 'out of order' sign on the second), and most of the time it took 5+ mins to arrive, and often stuffed full with cleaning trolleys. Had a double room, but two single beds pushed together which kept coming apart. Shower sometimes had trouble getting to temperature. Keycards didn't open the door unless you slammed yourself against it, so had to get traditional room key.

Great offer for the price you pay.. location is also good.. the variety of food in the restauarant is okay, there could be a little bit more choices to pick from, but it is very tasty and the ambience is very nice as well

What a bad place to stay! Reception doesn’t answer the phone, if you ask them to resolve some problems, they do it less than half. I am staying for business the whole week till September 23. my organization booked for €183 p/night‘s but the airco is not functioning. To few hangers in the closet, asked for more, they should bring them but did not. The room is too hot and outside. It is 12°. the blankets are synthetic and gif too much warmth back. Room 644

I am really happy with this hotel! I haven't expected much, but this hotel exceeded my expectations. High level of service - the staff is very polite and ready to help with any question and request. You do not need to wait at reception deck. They are fast to serve - see you via web cameras, few receptionists while peak hour. Hotel rooms are fresh, renovated, with new design as all other inside. Breakfast is excellent. Scrambled eggs, meatballs, bolied eggs, pancakes, beans - if from hot staff. Wide variety of meat, cheese and vegetable plates. Croissants, fresh fruits, juices. All is very delicious. Private parking on premises is available for extra pay. Coffee vending machine, computer center, little shop is available at reception deck. 5 km far from city center on foot, good time to walk around and to feel the atmosphere of East Berlin. Very good value for money!

Comfy huge room and location is good- out of the city centre so it's quiet. Had the breakfast during our stay and it was fine but pricey for what was available. Air con didn't cool down the room as much as we'd hoped and the floor was dirty on arrival and whenever we left the sign on the door asking to tidy the room
