We went there for the architectural part and we loved it. There are 3 glass-office buildings and the main square is incredible, specially went they turn in the lights.

Have been here countless times and I am glad to see the frequency is picking up again after the pandemic. Lots of hotels, restaurants, coffee places in walking distance, a giant movie theatre at the nearby SONY centre (where you may run into a a premiere with a Hollywood star from time to time) and easy access via public transportation make this one of the countless Berlin highlights for both visitors and local residents. I highly recommend coming here with a coffee to go and take a stroll around.

Great gardens and palace was huge! I unfortunately didn’t get to go in! But it was worth visiting just for the gardens! They are amazing it goes from beautifully kept flower beds and paths that back onto a lake/pond, these when expand out into tree paths than more wild grass and less kept areas! The transition is really well done! And the palace itself is spectacular to look at and is gigantic!!

(Translated by Google) The castle garden is ideal for young and old and also happy together. Playground, lawns, endless winding paths for jogging and the lake to linger. Everything is so relaxed and thoughtful, even if very often very busy here.

The palace itself is well-kept. 😍 The interior is rich and wonderfully preserved. 👍🏻 It's worth coming here for a walk with the whole family ... I especially recommend it on a warm spring day. 😁 (Original) Cudowny pałac położony w prześlicznym parku (różnorodność flory i prześlicznych fontann). Another historical place in Berlin. It used to be one of the busiest plazas in Europe. Later, it was destroyed during WWII and then completely abandoned during Cold War as Berlin Wall crossed it.

Modern business architecture. Wd not put it on the first spots of my Berlin bucket list. But hey - it’s impressive - a newly built quarter in the heart of a city - u don’t find everywhere!

Very beautiful palace in Charlotteburg. A must visit location in Berlin. Large space with large gardens all around with a lake at the edge of the palace. Beautiful fountains and walkways. A mausoleum in the middle and nature all around. It is worth while to go inside the palace as well by buying a ticket.

Potsdamer Platz is a square located about one kilometer of Brandenburg Gate to the south. It is home to one of Berlin’s main underground stations. Before World War II, Potsdamer Platz was the heart of Berlin and one of the busiest squares in Europe. However, it was destroyed almost to the ground during World War II and then remained an abandoned land for decades. The Berlin Wall divided the square in two and the border area between West and East Berlin was not rebuilt during the Cold War. Following German reunification, reconstruction of Potsdamer Platz and its surroundings began in 1994. Today, Potsdamer Platz is filled with skyscrapers and imaginative buildings such as the Sony Center. The area has been designed by renowned architects and is considered a very important creation of modern architecture.

A cool place with some food trucks and a nice shopping mall. There was already a Christmas market set up when we were there which was also nice to walk through

For me it’s the second most beautiful square in Berlin, in the Christmas time you can find food markets and also a ski slope. It’s near the Sony center so you can find a lot of restaurants and shops. A 5 minute walk from here can lead you to the brandenburg gate and the Reichstag! 😍

Must visit when in Berlin. Has a detailed and succinct wall exhibit highlighting the history and how the area evolved through separation and reunification. Walk along the double cobblestoned path from Leipziger Platz tracing along the erstwhile Wall. Now a very well connected glitzy area, do drop in at night to admire the lighted up canopy of the Sony Center and get dinner in one of the many swanky places in the vicinity.

This central plaza has a few panels of the Berlin Wall as an educational symbol for the Cold War and a reminder of people who lost their lives and their freedom during 1961-1989. “Imagine” by John Lennon rings in your mind! 🙏🙏🙏

The Christmas market is small and not really worth the time. But the decorations outside the mall closeby is breathtaking! And the mall is really nice and the Christmas decorations inside are absolutely amazing! Really beautiful and worth a visit. Also lots of stores and different food choices on top floor.

Potsdamer Platz in Berlin is a modern urban hub that perfectly blends history and contemporary vibes. The iconic Sony Center, impressive skyscrapers and bustling entertainment options create a lively atmosphere. Whether you're shopping, dining, or catching a film, Potsdamer Platz offers a dynamic experience. The remnants of the Berlin Wall nearby add a poignant touch to this vibrant city square, making it a must-visit for its diversity and cultural significance.

Potsdam Platz pulsates with vibrant energy - a central hub overflowing with diverse attractions from futuristic architecture to sprawling parks. While bustling crowds and chain stores dampen the charm, its accessibility, cultural offerings, and lively atmosphere earn it a solid 4 stars. Whether snapping stunning photos, exploring museums, or indulging in retail therapy, this dynamic square leaves a lasting impression.

Perfect place for beer lovers. Food is great match with beer and also there are some traditional dishes. Beer is fresh and tastes soo good. Service is friendly and fast. There is version of menu in English for foreigners. Deserts are not my cup of tea, I would recommend another beer instead 😊 Garden is really nice so if you can chose, visit when weather is nice.

Several new districts were founded around the city's perimeter, just outside the old fortifications. The largest of these was Friedrichstadt, just south west of the historic core of Berlin, begun in 1688 and named after new Elector Frederick William III, who later became King Frederick I of Prussia. Its street layout followed the Baroque-style grid pattern much favoured at the time, and was based on two main axes: Friedrichstraße running north-south, and Leipziger Straße running east-west. All the new suburbs were absorbed into Berlin around 1709–10. In 1721-3 a south-westwards expansion of Friedrichstadt was planned under the orders of King Frederick William I, and this was completed in 1732-4 by architect Philipp Gerlach (1679–1748). In this expansion, a new north-south axis emerged: Wilhelmstrasse. In 1735-7, after Friedrichstadt's expansion was complete, a customs or excise wall, 17 km long and 4.2 m high, was erected around Berlin's new perimeter. Consisting of a wooden palisade at first, it was later replaced with a brick and stone wall, pierced by 14 gates (later increased to 18), where roads entered the city. Here taxes were levied on goods passing through, chiefly meat and flour. The most prestigious gate was the Brandenburg Gate, for the important road from Brandenburg, but 1 km to the south was the entry point of another road that gained even greater significance. This road had started out in the Middle Ages as a lane running out from Berlin to the hamlet of Schöneberg, but it had developed into part of a trading route running right across Europe from Paris to St. Petersburg via Aachen, Berlin and Königsberg. In 1660 the Elector Frederick William made it his route of choice to Potsdam, the location of his palace, which had recently been renovated. Starting in 1754 a daily stagecoach ran between Berlin and Potsdam, although the road was in poor shape. But in 1740 Frederick II had become King. Not a great lover of Berlin, he later built a new palace, the Sanssouci, at Potsdam in 1744-7, followed by the New Palace in 1763-9, so the road now had to be made fit for a King, plus all his courtiers and staff. After numerous other improvements, in 1791-3 this section was made into Prussia's first all-weather road. It later became Potsdamer Straße; its point of entry into Berlin, where it passed through the customs wall, became the Potsdamer Tor (Potsdam Gate); once inside the gate Leipziger Straße was its eastwards continuation, and Wilhelmstraße was the first north-south thoroughfare that intersected with it. It was around this gate that Potsdamer Platz was to develop.

is a Baroque palace in Berlin, located in Charlottenburg, a district of the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf borough.The palace was built at the end of the 17th century and was greatly expanded during the 18th century. It includes much lavish internal decoration in baroque and rococo styles. A large formal garden surrounded by woodland was added behind the palace, including a belvedere, a mausoleum, a theatre and a pavilion. During the Second World War, the palace was badly damaged but has since been reconstructed. The palace with its gardens are a major tourist attraction.

We went first thing in the morning and it was almost empty so we enjoyed it almost to ourselves. It has many very luxurious and very interesting things. The architecture of the palace is impressive, we loved it. I highly recommend it to you, it has nothing to waste. Potsdamer Platz, or (Potsdam Square) is an important public square and traffic intersection in the center of Berlin, Germany, lying about 1 km south of the Brandenburg Gate, and close to the southeast corner of the Tiergarten park. It is named after the city of Potsdam, some 25 km to the south west, and marks the point where the old road from Potsdam passed through the city wall of Berlin at the Potsdam Gate.

Potsdamer Platz was great, even though it’s hard to find a parking space. It’s full of cars, and you need to pay for parking. We had good luck as we arrived shortly before 9pm at the weekend. From 9pm til next day it’s free. You have everything you need. Cinema, Casino, Restaurants, Bars…

A place to come with a purpose, where you can visit the Spuonage Museum, go to the móveis at Imax or Cinemax, have an adventure at Legoland, go to Sony's store, or simple to splore the beautiful Mall of Berlin with it's many stores and places do eat. There isn't much to see or do outside, it is not like a Park. However, just in front of the Carlton Ritz you will be able to find some parte of the Berlin Wall.

Important place to visit. Full of history, diversity, shopping, dining. Seeing the segments of the Berlin wall right where they were back then gave you a whole in the stomach just to picture the dark times the city had gone through. There's pictures of the before and after of many segments of the wall. Feeling sadness and hope at the same time.

This is one of the places you need to go when in Berlin. For reasons you can likely imagine, the area was basically empty after WW2 until reunification. So, everything is new and modern, right in the center of the city -- the beautiful, modern face of Berlin is a direct result of the terrible past. Testament to human resilience and something to be celebrated. Have a look!

Everyone should visit Berlin at least once (and my advice not in the Winter brrr!). It is the most mature, dignified and quietly optimistic city I have ever visited. The way it owns its past and looks to the future is unlike anywhere else you will ever visit (IMHO) and you will return home ever so much the richer for the experience.
