One of the world’s most fascinating collections, a truly encyclopedic and unique collection of masterpieces across European painting epochs north and south of the Alps. Some collections may be larger, some collections may be more bombastic, but what marks the Berlin museum as exemplary is its crisp, cool, unassailable dedication to presenting masterpieces one after the other across 2km of interior wall. Man kann mal hier besuchen, wenn man nichts besseres zu tun hat, aber extra herkommen, würde ich persönlich nicht empfehlen 😅

Huge collection of works, more than enough to satisfy any art fan. Highly recommend taking a map with you. Booking online required, part of museum pass if you opt for that.

It is a really nice place to visit. However when purchasing the tickets the clerk doesn’t tel you what mask you wear. Upon entering we had to change our masks twice because they wouldn’t accept other types of masks even though they were the same they themselves were using.

The Painting Gallery has a rich number of valuable collections. My friend and I spent 4 hours there and still couldn't finish the round tour. Some paintings only have German descriptions, so renting an audio guide is very helpful

A beautiful collection, we had an enchanting time while visiting. But we give such a low score because the services offered are not up to the expectations: we waited after our visit for 40 minutes at the cafeteria, where only one person was working, and when we finally were able to order our lunch, nothing that was on the menu was available. The waitress was rude, touched our Covid masks, and was terribly slow - chatting with customers is not an option if you have an hour queue behind.

Wonderful collection, was in a bit of disarray as they are installing a new lighting system, so some rooms were closed and others empty. Still what was there was exceptional. Will be back.

I was lucky enough to visit many museums and galleries in Europe, so I can say that the collection of paintings presented here is very good. Especially, here are collected so many stars of the Renaissance, both Italian and Northern, that allows you to immerse yourself in the painting, aesthetics, culture and philosophy of that time. very beautiful museum in which you can easily spend hours looking at mostly "bondieuseries" and traditional european renaissance paintings! the price is quite cheap and there's a student refund which is always a plus! at the moment until july there's an exhibition about tolerance which was very interesting

Visited here with museum pass. A lot of 1300-1500‘s pieces, which would not be that much tempting unless you‘re deeply religious or into history. Still, some flanders paintings the gallery offer are pretty enjoyable.

It's a really good gallery. Temporaly exhibitions are the best because they have English translation. And the permanent exhibition is on german. There are some descriptions on English but not so much. But here you can see many beautiful pictures.

I really like how the work was displayed - with the information placard discretely located below most of the artwork and blending in with the wall - which allowed for an unbroken view of the art. If you’re not buying tickets in advance it’s best to show up as soon as the gallery opens.

Well done. Great collection (more complete and balanced that in that in similar museums in other European capitals). I enjoyed the "Zoom on van Eyck" exhibition which was more immersive and interactive... Hopefully more of this approach to experiencing great works of art can be adopted for the permanent collection.
