Amazing place located just outside the idyllic town of Potsdam. I didn't go inside the palace, but just to be able to stroll around the beautiful stylized gardens and view the grand houses, gate lodges and various water features is a pleasure.

If your child is there with you, make sure you get the audio guide for kids. It’s great! And don’t forget to visit Friedrich the Great’s dogs’ cemetery. He loved Greyhounds!

Sanssouci Palace, King Frederick the Great's favorite summer escape, is a top destination of tourist attraction just outside of Berlin. Retreat to Sanssouci for the grandeur often lost in the city with its immaculate gardens and terraced vineyard leading up to the elegant yellow palace. This palace was built in 1745 to 1747. The influence of King Frederick's personal taste in the design and decoration of the palace was so great that its style is characterised as Rococo. Now this palace is saved by UNSCO Heritage. Now this palace is preserved with all its original things and furniture and worth to visit because of lush gardens, vineyards as well as this historic palace.

This place is really amazing. I've been there during the week and it's really quiet and pleasant. The surrounding parks are big enough to spend the whole day there.

The Palace is one of many in Sanssouci Park. The Palace has just about ten rooms that are open to tour, but the audio tour is very detailed, and it will entertain you for about an hour. The approach to the palace is beautiful, with a majestic fountain and terraces with grape vines. It is a pretty place to explore and take photos. Beyond touring the palace, the park itself offers hours of exploration. There is a botanical garden, many nooks and crannies of the labyrinthine park, and several other palaces, some as big as two hundred rooms. I recommend buying tickets in advance because they limit how many people can enter per opening.

So beautiful! I recommend the tour inside, and reading up on some history about Frederick the great. He's definitely an interesting character. You must book the tour tickets ahead of time online to enter. I also went without a guide and spent a long time trying to figure out where Frederick's tomb is. I will tell you so you don't have to undergo the same search: if you face the Palace with your back to the garden, it's on the right side of the Palace, near the statue.

A must see if you have a half day in hand on your Berlin visit. 1 hour train + bus journey all worthwhile to see this beautiful palace. Excellent public transport available. One can spend a full day exploring all the gardens and surrounding.

One of the best castle and park in all of Germany. Located 40 mins away from Berlin, this place is a delight. Tickets are cheaper for the offering you get. We paid 49 euros for full day for the family and we got more in return. It is a must visit if you are in berlin. It has multiple gardens and multiple water fronts which make it a visual experience. Highly recommended to visit this place with family and make sure to carry food to enjoy with family in the garden’s

This was a great dat trip from Berlin. It was only a 40 min drive. I recommend booking tickets in advance because they have specific time slots. Once in you get an audio guide that is perfect to understand the story of the place. Each room is unique and builds the story of Frederick’s activities in his pleasure palace. The grounds are very pretty as well. The park is huge and it takes a long time to do all of it, but it is worth at least doing the areas right around the palace.

Interesting small 5 bedroom decadent palace with lovely terrace garden. The entire park is unusual with several palaces. Recommend taking a full day to explore the park and it's palaces. We didn't give it enough time, but nevertheless enjoyed it

A must-see if you're in Berlin. Less than an hour by train. The palace is stunning but the park itself has so much to offer. There's beautiful scenery everywhere you look and monuments around each bend.

THE main palace of Sanssouci Park and Potsdam. Here you can find a beautiful palace with yellows walls and emerald roof. In the summer times, the scenery from the fountain looking upwards is beautiful. It’s open till late, so you can take long walks in the park.

One of the beautiful places in Potsdam, nice architecture, especially the sculptures are amazing & very detailed. Naturally beautiful and peaceful. We visited in Autumn, so the trees were colorful and the weather was too good for walking. Both the back side & front side are nicely designed and managed. The stairs with a beautiful garden and a small lake creates an eye soothing view, the palace is a nice photography zone. The whole place within 2/3 kilometres is beautifully designed with some 3 palaces & garden. A must visit place.

Worth visiting. Make sure you book a ticket online in advance as they sell out. Also check the operating hours as different buildings are open on different days. Late in the week is better to visit. As the site is absolutely huge, allow a whole day per visit and wear comfortable shoes as you’ll be doing a lot of walking. I’d also bring a bottle of water and snacks as the coffee shops are few and (literally) very far between.

Best castle ever!! I loved the views, it was so great although it was so full of people and the weather wasn’t good. I would recommend you to remember that usually these castles close on Mondays and also you need to make an appointment in advanced to be able to get in if that’s what you want. The entrance is on the back side of the castle and it’s closed to other amazing places. Definitely a must seen if you go to Potsdam!!

What I thought would be a quick hour wandering through the park ended up taking a good half day and we didn't get to see everything! The park is well laid out with plenty of wide paths and even the occasional sign! There was no litter and it really was pleasant to walk around and look at the statues, flower borders and ornamental buildings. We didn't go into the Palace (I'm not even sure you can) but we walked around that and the windmill and Chinese House. There's an excellent little cafe just next to the windmill too. The park is about 10 minutes walk from Potsdam old town and looking at the map we covered about a third of it so you could easily spend the day there.

Large beautiful gardens, was there during winter so all statues were covered, I think it would be much better during warmer seasons

A visit to Sanssouci Palace is a true step back in time. During your visit one can imagine the beauty of the time and the splendor of the period. We visited in December and one should note this was a summer palace -- there is no heat and this palace was kept as it was originally. The grounds are beautiful and we can only imagine the greater beauty during the warmer months.

Frederick the Great’s summer palace, ‘Sansoucci’ was fit for a king and now can be enjoyed by all. At the train stop, we met a tour operator for our group and were bussed to the Palace. We did not enter the palatial building but enjoyed walking the grounds and marveled at this architectural wonder. We saw Frederick’s humble gravestone, now adorned with potatoes, a reminder it was he who introduced the crop, first to his army and later, to the country.

If you ever looked for a focal point of classic culture, sophistication and Frenchy style in a otherwise Prussian culture - a must! Cozy eleven room boutique- hotel for an erudite king and his guests 😉😎

I would highly recommend visiting the Sanssouci Palace and park if you're in Potsdam. It's a stunning example of Prussian architecture and a peaceful oasis in the midst of the city. I had the pleasure of visiting the stunning Sanssouci Palace. The palace is located in a beautiful park and is a testament to the elegance and grandeur of the Prussian royal family. We were fortunate to have a knowledgeable tour guide who provided us with a wealth of information about the palace and its history. The architecture of the palace was truly breathtaking, with intricate details and ornate decorations that showcased the opulence of the Prussian court. After the tour, we spent a couple of hours walking around the park, which was the perfect way to spend a sunny summer day. The park is truly stunning, with lush gardens, scenic paths, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it easy to relax and unwind. I can imagine that for locals, the park and the palace are a popular spot for picnics, leisurely walks, or even just to sit and read a book under a tree while taking in the beauty of the surroundings.

If you are in Berlin, choose a day to visit Potsdam and the gorgeous Sanssouci Park and Palace. This is a place where history meets beauty being surounded by nature. Pic some comfortable clothes and shows as it is a big area. You will find a charming café to recharge your energy and then go on have a memorable day in this magical place. If you can, rrad about it before going as this will help you experience it in another level.

The party Palace. Fredrick 2nd spent most of his time here and is buried behind the garden with his dogs. This is a wonderful palace and well worth the visit . You can get the bus there from potsdam.

If you need to hightail it out of Berlin for a day, Sanssouci will soothe your soul (or just give you a break from beating the streets). The history buffs will find plenty to dive into and the rest of us can just marvel at the palaces and gardens. Be sure to visit a local café afterwards as there are a lot of them in cental Potsdam.

If you're planning to visit this place, I recommend going there in spring or summer, 'cause this is the time when all the plants are blooming. In winter it isn't that stunning.

  • 4/5 Dave H. 1 year ago on Google
The palace is really quite small (only 11 rooms on the tour) and so a bit pricey but it's very ornate with a good audio guide in many languages. Gardens are lovely. Not very well signed where to go (we went on the 695 bus from Potsdam hbf) so best to ask someone!

awesome place, you feel calmness and serenity there, perhaps not on a hot summer day in august on weekends but on a rainy tuesday (when Neues Palais is closed): yes🤛👍. tour inside the castle (with audio guide) is highly!!! recommended. see and feel the glamour of Prussia

It is simply amazing and the garden is very beautiful too. Lots of buildings are being restored and next time I come to Berlin I will visit it again.

Overall a cool place to spend your afternoon if it’s not too cold… remember to get your EU certificate and passport ready during this covid period before entering. A bit too ex in my opinion to visit the inside of the castle (not all the rooms are open up for exhibit)

  • 5/5 Calvin A. 8 months ago on Google
The palace and grounds are beautiful, and the self guided tour audio is full of interesting facts and short stories. Try not to go on a hot day, as the interior can heat up quickly.

Really fab day out - I took public transport from Berlin city centre out to Potsdam. Potsdam is a really beautiful place, especially since the sun was shining and the skies were blue. There's a free toilet a few minutes' walk away from the palace, or you can pay 50 cents for the one closer to the shop & information area. The shop was quite overpriced, but had some nice items and gifts. Overall, I recommend taking the trip out here and having a walk around the gardens - it's all very pretty.

  • 4/5 Aakash 2 years ago on Google
Sanssouci is a wonderful historic palace. If you leave the well-trodden paths ... you will discover plants and hidden places that hardly any visitor sees. That makes a visit always eventful. It is best to book a combination ticket to see other castles as well. Luckily they tried lock I liked that there were audio guides that you had to hold to your ear. This meant that you could concentrate completely on the premises and not be on the side with your cell phone.

  • 5/5 Victor R. 1 year ago on Google
It is a must-see in Potsdam. During summer months the place is very crowded. Colder months offer a quieter visit, but the statues are boxed to protect them from the weather and cannot be seen.

  • 5/5 Julia U. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful castle. Many of the additional buildings were closed unfortunately. (They are always closed during winter time, so I‘d recommend summer for a visit there.) But I still had a great day and I loved that it wasn‘t too crowded

  • 5/5 Julien P. 1 year ago on Google
We really liked the castle and the surroundings. It's not that big inside so you don't get bored with the audio and the rooms are really different from what we're used to see. I think that's a must if you visit Berlin. We just visited that castle because it can be a bit much as the whole area is enormous and tiring to walk.

One of Potsdam's biggest attractions is the famous Baroque Schloss Sanssouci, a small Summer Palace that was listed as a World Heritage Site in 1990 along with the surrounding gardens. The glory of the Palace of Carefree was started by the famous Prussian emperor. In 1774, Frederick the Great ordered that the then "desert mountain" be cultivated into a trapezoidal terrace of grapes.

  • 3/5 John J O. 1 year ago on Google
Not a fan of this style of Prussian (?) architecture, the place was more impressive for me for its scale, which is massive, than any aesthetic appeal. Only a quick visit though and didn’t visit the interiors of any of the palaces. Probably a much better experience with a guide to explain the history of the place, or take a horse drawn carriage tour, they serve beers and soft drinks!

  • 5/5 Rahaf W. 1 year ago on Google
Honestly a wonderful place to go to❤️❤️❤️ must visit. The park is open for free but to go inside the palace you need tickets and must book before going. There is a Cafe and wc service Also horse riding for 10€ per person. You are not allowed to sit on green areas. I would suggest you take food and snacks with you because no available close restaurants are around

  • 5/5 Aashish A. 1 year ago on Google
One of the must visit place in Postdam. This is a very big and beautiful palace. This has a guided tour so you can enjoy the complete palace easily. I was not able to go inside as it was closed on mo day. So I would suggest don't plane your visit to postdam on monday or Tuesday. But you will surely enjoy the surroundings around this palace. Moreover you will get lot of good pictures here.
