Reconsider before signing up. I’ve been a member for more than a year and it just gets worse. Pool area stinks like it hasn’t been cleaned for a year. On top of that the club is overcrowded due to free trials and opening up to Urban Sports cheapest tiers, queues are formed in gym, sauna and showers - simply stressful. The club staff has been really kind (special shout out to Luke, Assael, Luis and others👏🏼) but they can’t handle it anymore - gym coaches are resigning or burned out due to rude visitors leaving a trail of trash and dirty towels in the changing room you will also have to navigate through when finishing off your workout. Nobody sticks to the sauna etiquette, wearing underwear or even taking pictures in the spa area. It’s a shame nobody controls this. Terrible experience for a gym that has more potential. I’m cancelling as soon as my contract allows. Suggestion to HP management - treat fairly your employees and care about your subscribed members or you’ll suffer long term effects.

The air conditioning doesn't work for a month in summer, nobody seems to be doing anything about it. In the gym is hotter than the sauna. Half of the gym is under construction, but they don't give you the option to train in another club, nor they give you a discount. Paying premium price for terrible conditions. I have cancelled my contract after two years of being member and I most definitely not recommend this place. In the pictures you can see the "air conditioning" and the construction works

Positive: the spa area is wonderful; very comfortable and clean. The shower facilities are nice and private, and there are plenty of lockers. The staff is also generally very helpful. Negative: compared to other HP facilities, this one feels run down. There’s been a sink hole in the weight training area since I can remember. There are leaks and water damages throughout. And the downstairs men’s locker room bathroom in the back is looking like a bathroom at a bus stop in a 3rd world country. Literally a puddle of urine on the floor over the drain, and feces covering the walls and toilet. I say this not because it was a one-time thing, but often. Further, to mirror past reviews, the staff becomes extremely aggressive well before closing time. Someone took my key card which left me asking for staff to help me into my locker. I was very quickly harassed by another staff member for not being “outside” even though there were 15 minutes left before closing. I felt extremely uncomfortable, and this doesn’t match the experience I’ve had over the past 4 years at other holmes place locations. HP is investing millions in a premier spin studio at this location. It would make sense to cover the basics first.

Premium torture. The studio is being renovated, which means some parts are closed, and the equipment is missing. It is more crowded than usual (less space), and the air conditioning isn't working in summer. Imagine my experience, I've been a member for only three months; this is the second month. One more left. They suggest I go to another studio, saying three stops only... Which is ridiculous since I chose the place because it's close to my office. Why would I go to another studio? I should go to another fitness studio... And if you can't provide the services you promised, you should refund at least the part where you didn't keep your promises, right? Or at least for the time left? One month of torture in a bad construction environment without air conditioning is enough punishment, isn't it? But no, they also want to pay for the other month that I won't use because they can. They have a contract... Well played, Holmes Place. Let's see what this will cost you in the long run.

I thought I would try out the Holmes Place Gendarmenmarkt location by getting an Urban Sports L Membership for around 90€ (Have only gone to Holmes Place so far) was planning on signing up for a membership with Holmes Place but having second thoughts. Heres why: I did a few courses with good teachers such as the Bodypump and Yoga course which was nice. Equipment is fairly new as well :) BUT I have had several uncomfortable encounters with the staff at front desk. Members being greeted and me being ignored until I wave and try to get their attention. Even though there are two people sitting not doing anything. The first few visits I was given disposable towels like in every other gym. After a certain amount of time the staff started asking for a pitiful fee of 1€. After the first weird experience which left me feeling like I had a discussion with a Mcdonalds employee, I purposefully brought a few 1€ coins as to no be embarrassed again. (They do not except cash) and would only give me 1 towel. So If I don't bring my Wallet with cards to the gym I need to use the same towel for workout sauna and shower... I have the feeling upper management gladly lets staff treat external members with disrespect. Regarding the interior: Plastic plants, worn out carpets, slightly smelly showers, water fountain that somehow tastes worse than tap water (Which is relatively good in Berlin) . All reminiscent of a budget hotel and not a premium gym. I wanted to make this my new go-to gym since there are not many options around here, am though a bit disappointed on all ends. Will I be treated better after I sign up for a contract? Does that make sense? Do I indulge in this behaviour? Is it really worth it? There are cheaper gyms in Berlin that are a-lot more welcoming with friendly staff that also have saunas, pool area and new equipment. Prove me wrong..

The equipment in the studio is fine. Some are small in number and constantly occupied. It's obviously being advertised aggressively. There is often a long queue to complete a trial training session. The staff changes constantly and is therefore not particularly competent when you have questions and is easily overwhelmed. Trainers tend not to be there to answer questions. The swimming pool is relatively small and actually constantly overcrowded, so you can't swim without constantly getting into trouble with others. One lane is separated. There are usually several people swimming in circles out of necessity. One of the cleaning ladies likes to take on an instructive role and sometimes becomes rude. The membership fee isn't exactly a bargain, so you can expect more.

I’m changing my 5star rating to 2 stars. I’ve been a customer for several years now and honestly the place is getting ridiculous. Recently half of the features are not working, the pool water was dropped and oddly enough the thermometer removed from the pool to reduce visibility (they are convincing the pool water is at 26C degrees which is definitely not the case). On top of that almost every other treadmill is off to save power despite people queuing… I get the inflation is affecting everyone but I don’t think the service should drop because of it.

HP member for 4 years, it used to be premium and nice with amazing facilities and staff. Now it’s overcrowded, the people are rude, the showers smell bad, the sauna and pool are lame and most importantly the front staff is so impolite, unfriendly and arrogant to the point that it’s shocking. If that’s what you call a premium gym it would be nice to review your business model. For readers, I seriously advice Fitness First, the one at pberg at least is fully renovated, super nice staff, and nice chilled users as opposed to HP.

Not a hygienic place. Everywhere dirt, although nice cleaning personal there but somehow they don't manage to clean it up. People run through the club with their mask on the arm (bacteries outside) or hang the mask on the training facilities which I think is really disgusting. Good, that finally a few modern equipment arrived, but most of the equipment is still very out-dated. Price of somehow 60 euros / month is 3 times more than most fitness facilities in Berlin, although those have modern equipment. With thousands of customers paying 60 euros / month, it should be easy to modernise the training equipment. There are so many good equipments, such as Skillmill, for example. Why does the management not purchase at least a few of such really efficient equipment? Bad: Missing equipment such as belts for weight. Customers bring their own belts and mattresses! Few free weights for the Pure Strength machines so you usually cannot use them as weights are on the benches in use. Construction work now for at least 2 years, I think. In addition some of the equipment which does not work is not being fixed, such as the broken mirror or the dip station, for example. It is really a shame, you are in front of a big mirror for gymnastics and half of it is missing. I mean, even if you don't train, if you walk by, you see it. You see it all the time. This should have been fixed years ago. No money for a new mirror??? Now more trainers than customers are training as individuals, so they also should be able to tell about deficiencies. I don't understand. The club wants to be premium but for the last 15 years or so almost nothing has happened except for aging. So much excellent new equipment is on the market, but not in the gym. What a pity! Yesterday, when exiting I heard a loud conversation. A customer was unsatisfied and compalining because one of the trainers kicked him out of the training area ahead of closing time while he wanted to do one more repetition (I didn't see it). I had a similar problem once with a rude trainer (H.B.). It is a very dissatisfying feeling when you say you are going in 30 seconds and then they don't let you train (this customer said that the trainer was intimidating him and took the weights right out of his hands) but then explained for 2 minutes why you have to go ... finally this guy was at 21:55 in his training suit at the reception complaining instead of finishing his repetition and getting dressed up ... bad management and communication. They should consider more the consequences of such behavior. It is clear that customers get fed up. It is true, he could have come earlier but still the situation got worse for both sides so it would have been better to ask him to leave in a minute ... not professional communication in my view. Air-conditioning is working more or less properly although it could be a bit cooler for the workout zone. Especially on the south side with the windows it gets very warm in the summer.

I have just signed up for the 30 day trial promotion and even though it is free, I will not make use of it. Upon arrival, the staff at the reception was very unfriendly and seemed annoyed. There wasn't much interest in the customer at all. We were then led to the sales office where a nicer employee signed us up. The changing rooms smelled VERY bad. Even though some smell is normal in a gym, I have never experienced one like that. Also, there is not much training equipment to choose from, the selection of weights seems quite rudimentary compared to other gyms. The price they are expecting a customer to pay for a rocked-down gym is a joke. Go for other places at lower prices with a better experience

Absolutely disgusting. The showers are FULL OF FLIES and smell bad. not sure if someone died in there or you performed an exorcism, in any case I’d rather stink. As a bonus the water at the fountains has a weird taste (would rather not think about that after having seen the flies) and there are more and more broken spinning bikes piling up in the “studio” instead of replacing them to allow for more members to attend the class. Kudos on replacing the vending machines though, that must have been a high priority.

The gym itself is okay but the Customer service is absolutely non existent. They promised a 2 for 1 membership which we signed up for, and have proof of, yet they keep charging us for both every month (plus some additional costs that no one can explain to us). We have been trying to reach them via email, phone, in person and on facebook yet we get no answer - or just the typical ''we will forward this to our management''. This has been going on for a few months now and our money keeps disappearing - today I even got a threatening email that they will send for cash collection. What will it take for someone to resolve our problem?

The studio is clean and the staff on site is very nice and helpful. Unfortunately the (central) customer service leaves a lot to be desired! I took out a one-month trial membership for 40 euros. Unfortunately, about 80 euros too much was deducted from my account. I have been waiting since mid-October for the refund of the amounts I overpaid. Nobody in the studio can help me, I'm referred to the central customer service, which can only be reached via email form. Answers arrive 3-4 weeks late, if at all. Once HP and never again! I'm glad I didn't renew my membership! UPDATE 8.1.24: I'm still waiting for a response from customer service and my refund. Holmes Place: instead of just commenting on my review, I expect a response to my query. Please provide me with an email or phone number from which I can expect an answer and solution. UPDATE 3/20/24: I finally got my money refunded. However, Holmes Place has now sent its lawyers to me/Google because I have allegedly never had a business relationship with Holmes Place and I supposedly only want to damage their business. Guys, if you mess up, you have to be able to live with negative comments and be open to change! I will do everything I can to keep my review alive for as long as possible!

This place needs proper maintenance: cleaning in all areas, no hygiene rules are followed, I believe this place has to be checked by external authorities. Very heated and lack of proper ventilation. This place is not for improving your health, but for dirt, bacteria, smell and rude staff! It has a great potential to improve, and management has to INVEST: in cleaning, staff training and figure out what to do with ventilation. Update: this review was asked to be removed by the Holmes place, just FYI of the management style here.

Unfriendly front desk staff. People don’t know how to greet you? Isn’t this supposed to be a “premium” gym?! I’m afraid to ask a question tbh. No one is available on the floor. Also this layout on 3 floors is so annoying because you have to pass ground floor all the time and thats like a 10C temperature drop. Wish the vending machine would have more proteic food and snack options in general. Actually it's kinda of useless. Showers are quite dirty and shower knobs are very stiff to turn. Sometimes not even with two hands works..Plus almost hurt my foot into a metal piece sticking out of the sink..check picture. that swim suit drying machine is disturbing the sauna’s peace..like why can’t you put it in the middle of the locker or anywhere really just not next to the sauna so we hear that engine all the time. ++ NO more coffee machine and lounge upstairs?! No lounge area, just get sent out straight on the street after...i mean there’s a two seater leather couch for both men and women. What a joke! I need to wait 5-10 minutes inside somewhere before i get out in -5°C.. it feels like the gym is stuck in time with at least 15 years. Most bothering is the opening hours, it closes way too early! 11 would be way more suitable! not prolonging my Abo. Not worth the money at all. It is obvious they don't care about the people.

I visited this unit with my Urban Sports Club subscription because I was considering switching to Holmes Place permanently, and I am so glad I did it because I disliked everything about my experience. Few machines, hundreds of people working out, and too hot (even for winter). I could not finish my workout because there were not enough equipments (a single legpress for an entire gym? You gotta be kidding me). I had a far superior experience at Crunchfit to be honest, which costs 80% less. I would most definitely not recommend this gym to anyone. If you are considering to pay 90 EUR/month for a premium experience, you came to the wrong place.

I've been a member for quite long. I had the worst experience by a gym stuff today. I passed behind a guy in a rocker room and the guy started complaining to me that people say "excuse me" when you are passing behind a person in Germany. There was simply an enough space for one person to walk behind the guy even it was a bit narrow area. I did not push him nor have to ask him to move for me to passing through. Totally it didn't make sense. He did not stop talking to me so I told him to shut up. then he went "I work here. I can kick you out". He literally threatened me. The other stuff came to him and of course there are some people in the rocker room so they came to us and asked what happened. Then he started talking in German. I couldn't understand everything what he said. Everyone thought that I'm the bad guy. I was humiliated and threatened by the gym stuff for nothing I did wrong. I am very uncomfortable going that gym after all. If a gym stuff is doing that to a gym member, it's not right.

I am very disappointed with the gym I have been going to for the last few months. The air conditioning is not working properly and the quality of air is very poor. It is very uncomfortable and unhealthy to exercise in such a hot and stuffy environment. I asked the manager why this is happening and he told me that the AC is broken and it will take a few more weeks until they fix it. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. I do not recommend a gym to anyone who does not values customers health and comfort.

I went in the evening, it was rather full, but not crowded. Very humid and hot changing rooms. Showers are not the cleanest. The sauna was crowded and people did not adhere to appropriate etiquette, wearing bathing suits and sweating on the wood of the seats. Many towels lying around, plastic bottles under the benches. The training machines are good.

Mixed feeling about the pool and the spa area. One the one hand the area is nicely made, but lacks cleanliness. Shower drains in the spa area are clogged and there's 4cm of water in the whole area which makes you reconsider if you want to walk in that or not. Sauna etiquette is not adhered to by some guests. They enter sauna in swim shorts and underwear. I wish the management does something to make sure guests follow the rules.

I've been going to this gym for a few months now and it's definitely become my favorite place to work out. The facilities are top-notch and always clean, which is a huge plus for me. I particularly enjoy the sauna and jacuzzi after a good workout - it's the perfect way to unwind and relax. The staff is incredibly friendly and always willing to help out if I have any questions or concerns. One thing I love about this gym is that the best time to visit is in the morning - it's not too crowded and I can always get a good workout in without feeling like I'm fighting for space. Overall, I would highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a clean, well-equipped facility with a great staff and a welcoming atmosphere.

The first impression is great: friendly reception, mostly in pairs - so there is always someone available. There are an awful lot of lockers in the locker room. There is an 80° sauna just for men/women and a shared 90° sauna upstairs. There is also a steam bath, cold water shower, pool (about 5-6 lanes next to each other) and whirlpool. At the top is the gym: the focus is on cardio. Extremely many treadmills, steppers and bikes. The machines and weights are high quality, you can train well here. There aren't as many machines as in a FitX or McFit, which means you have to wait more often. That's quite annoying considering the price. Also, there doesn't seem to be any air conditioning? The other day (and it's winter) it was extremely warm up there. There is a water fountain to drink (but nothing with taste). My main problem is that it stinks between the changing rooms and the pool. This is probably because there is water in many places. Even in the showers. Nasty ones are defective. There are always towels lying around everywhere (probably free for members, but not for Urban Sports Club (apparently 1.5€ extra per session)). The people are friendly and all, but for the money I expect everything to be perfect. A FitX costs a quarter and is cleaner. Plus, there's always a lot going on after work. There are simply too few machines for this large number of members. The men's sauna has often been off or in power saving mode (around 60°) lately.

Smaller than the other Holmes Places in Berlin but very nice. Swimming pool and sauna area are sufficiently large. The equipment is all new and the free weight area is well stocked, but unfortunately the dumbbells stop at 32kg. The showers are very clean and the staff are friendly and very helpful.

Unfortunately, this is no longer a premium club. I have been a member of the club for 6 years. But today the club is overcrowded due to urban members. There are constant queues at the entrance and at the exercise equipment. It takes time to find a free locker. Today I had a booked group class and I didn't have enough equipment for the workout because there were 10 extra people without booking . Since the number of participants should be 25, but there were 35!!!! Special thanks to your group training trainers - Marco, Diana and others. They are the best. One gets the feeling that the club wants to get rid of its regular members and switch to disposable members. You raised the monthly fee, but the conditions worsened. Thank you for a pleasant 5 years. Unfortunately, I must terminate my contract. I don’t see the advantage of being a member of your club . I remained your client during corona, when you sold part of the hall with a beautiful view of the Gendarmenmarkt, when the jacuzzi was not working for several months. But the current situation is deplorable...

It is just impossible to wrap one's mind around how a "Premium" gym can stay SOOOOOOO old-fashioned and outdated in the workouts it offers? It is incredible. I am a fitness classes-person, so after a 2-years break I decided to try out their classes... but they turned out just so boooring and old-fashioned, coaches are soooo low-energy, sleepy, quiet, it is such a drag that lasts for an hour and everybody is just yawning for the last 30 minutes?? HOW can you stay so outdated, how are you not looking for coaches who are up-to-date, cheerful, who challenge and energize the class, who use modern, fun, diverse exercises and equipment, and cool music??? Is that not part of the "premium" concept? Also, the music did not work for 10 minutes of the class and the coach didn´t use the microphone so no one heard her, she just whispered something for a whole hour. How is this OK in a "Premium" gym?? HOW hard is it to make sure your coaches can turn on the music and the mic??! This never, ever happened to me in years with other amazing studios, much smaller but more motivated and customer-oriented than HP. Well, really the best thing about this is that we don't have to sign up for these ridiculous 1 or 2-years memberships anymore (who ever came up with this, it is the worst idea ever) as there are great solutions like Urban Sports Club that give access to so many fantastic places to workout. Holmes Place can be nice here and there for a change, or a pool, but a membership there, is not something that can be recommended.

My Husband is a member at this gym and has been going there for the past 4 months. It did seem fine in the beginning but now we understand the frustration in other reviews. Its 30 degrees outside and there is no AC, for a gym where they charge almost 100 EUR a month this is a basic facility that they should be offering. To top this up they are re modelling the gym which makes the air quality poor as they have huge fans set up to combat the heat. You cannot tell people to adjust when you have such poor conditions at the gym and charge us almost a 100EUR per month. You also should have been ready for summers by getting the AC and factors fixed during winters. It feels very unpleasant to workout in such environments. Definitely not renewing the membership further.

I've been a member of Homes Place since December 2023, go 6 times a week, and it's high time I vented my anger. The studio is in a catastrophic condition. The whirlpool is closed at least twice a month for technical reasons. This morning the swimming pool was closed again without us being informed in advance via email or app. So I got up so early for nothing. The service from the trainers is also poor. In addition, the studio is often completely overcrowded, as not only club members have access, but also people through partner programs, some of whom behave very disrespectfully. I cannot recommend anyone to become a member of Holmes Place.

Nice location and friendly atmosphere but that's all. I joined this gym for almost 3 years, it is relatively expensive compare to other Berlin gyms but it is close to where I live so I signed up. The gym is quite small with quite a simple machine and weight area, there are many running machines which I think is bit unnecessary because they are never fully used. There are 4 studios, one for spin. The classes are quite good and trainers are very motivating and professional but a lot of classes such as yoga, some spin classes and body pumps are usually so busy that I couldn't get a place. So sometimes I arrived 20 mins earlier, and for spin class people occupying the bike by putting their towel or water bottle to occupy the bike which is very selfish. When I first joined the gym i paid an one-off initial charge which include 5 personal trainer session, and this was a huge mistake, the personal trainer they assigned to me obviously does not give a damn about me and all he wanted me to do was to sign up sessions with him and pay him thousands of euros, I remember he quoted me a training package for 1200 euros and I was thinking that it was insane, as soon as he knew I wasn't interested he started to go cold on me and one time even missed my booked session, eventually I was so angry and I changed a trainer to just finish the 5 free session so I never need to talk to another personal trainer again. So be aware of this one off payment with personal trainer option when you sign up, I personally think it's a trap and it's quite useless. I also had some administrative problem, the person who signed the contract with me made a mistake and then this person left the company, and the mistake he made was never corrected and the person in the gym who was in charge of contracts were very unhelpful and she decided to eventually stopped replying to my email so I had to physically try and talk to her in the gym whenever I know she was there for the day. This was a huge problem to me at the time since I felt super let down as a customer. I have read some other review saying the receptionist are rude and unfriendly, this is true for some of them, some of them never smiled and just throw the towel at people and never say anything. Overall I would say the gym is at a good location, nice member demographics, very simple machine and weight area compare to other gyms for the price but extensive class programme, really pushy personal training programme and sometimes bad administration and membership management. So if you are focusing on weight training and not really a group class person then it is better to go somewhere else for the same money, but if you prefer guided classes then this gym has something for you.

They sold off a good chunk of the gym area, now theres barely any natural light, and the place is constantly overcrowded. It used to be a great place… 75 €/month and they wont let you pause the contract unless youre pregnant have a doctors notice or work is sending a letter with a good reason, oh and even then you got to pay 15€. They are basically trying to milk you off your money. Sevice is steadily worsening, you rarely speak with someone in charge unless - you guessed right - they want to charge you something extra. Im filling out the cancellation notice with delight. 😁

Great gym with all kinds of fitness machines, free weight areas and classes. It is always very clean and the personal is polite. Due to its location and partnership with sport apps, it gets super busy during peak times. If possible avoid these times to ensure a great workout without limitations.

The studio has potential, good location and equipment. But it just smells bad there, especially in the stairs area. It’s a bit dirty, at the moment the toilets for women are not working. Water in the pool could be warmer. It’s definitely not a premium quality.

This is, without question, one of the nicest clubs in Berlin. Could a couple of things be improved, yes, and I will mention them but first I will refute some of these nasty and untrue comments. The place is kept very clean, very clean. There are no flies in the shower (Did Stupidfit write that?)The customer service is excellent and everyone at the desk is kind and welcoming (They even help with my german learning) I mostly use free weights and there are plenty of weights and benches. There are a lot of classes and people seem happy with them. I know many of the members and have made friends there, they too are welcoming. When I first came to Berlin I joined Stupidfit because I did not know Holmes existed. The moment I saw the place with windows and skylights I joined. It is the highlight of my day. What could be improved? We need hooks in the lockers. 5 lockers in the front section have them and there is an area where a screw can be taken out and a hook put in. Please do it, one cannot hang a pair of shorts on a hanger. New classroom and new equipment have come but I beg you, invest in an AbCoaster, it is without question the best possible piece of equipment one can use to work the core. And today I heard someone complaining about the broken steam room. I am all about the top shelf on the less hot sauna with the funny lights, but once he got the discussion going I heard a lot of words I will not choose to translate. But seriously, I think some of these tragic reviews are being posted by the competition, the lawsuit is costing them money.

For me personally it's the best fitness studio in Berlin. The variety of different classes like Cardio Workout, Bodypump, Ballet, Hatha/Ashtanga/Vinyasa Yoga, but the new Yoga on water and workout on top of the water on the mat in the swimming pool is a splash! The trainers are experienced and passionate about their profession. I don't use the gym machines but it looks that there are lots of them and all kind of. In the group training rooms there is all what's necessary for the exercises: weights, tubes, mats, steps, hantels etc. The swimming pool is really big for a fitness studio in the centre of Berlin City. In the wellness area there is a whirlpool, 2 mixed saunas (1 hammam and 1 dry) and the quiet relaxarion area with the headsets and magazines. At the reception you'll always find these smiling faces of helpful and professional receptionists who have the experience and knowledge to solve any problem and to help out with every issue. Upstairs there is also a lobby to chat with fitness friends, to relax on the couch after the hard training and even to grab some coffee to reload. Extra there is a BEAUTY SPA where you can have some special high quality treatments by using the best cosmetic products. In the men and women changing rooms there is a huge amount of lockers which is enough for all the guests. Also a separate sauna for men and women and a brand new solarium. Actually this fitness studio is worth all 5+ stars. The reason of taking away 1☆ is the increase of prices for private lockers, the prices in general and the yearly charge for towels.

Extremely clean fitness studio. Usually not so full. From all Holmes Place, this is the one with the best combination of pool/size and spa areas (Pool is smaller in Potsdamer Platz but spa is bigger). Attention is amazing! Super nice people and very supportive

Olga / lady at front desk on Sunday today at 12 pm on 26 th March is the most unfriendly person you will ever met. She doesn’t know any company policy and is out right rude. When I called up at Potsdam platz - they said I can take a day pass and that would be adjusted if I decide to take membership. She says I can’t even do the trial for a day and it was different when I inquired before. I think she hates that any new member join the gym — stay away if you have any expectation for customer service or plain politeness. Overall she would do her best to ensure that you don’t join this

I was supposed to get 1 month of free thru a recommendation by a friend of mine. However, they cannot do their job properly and they keep charging you for a SUPPOSEDLY free month, when you refuse to pay they give you MAHNUNG and threaten you with INKASSO. they also keep stalling you by saying “ja ja we’re working on it”. Horrible experience. Go buy food for your friends for a night out instead of going here, you’ll feel better at least at the end :)

This used to be a really nice gym before they walled off a huge chunk of it to (presumably) save on rent. Now, it’s often too crowded; a bunch of cardio machines are turned off to save electricity; they seem to have gotten rid of the row machines. They are pennypinching their way to becoming a second-rate gym. The Holmes Places at Ostkreuz and Neukölln are better. (Potsdamer Platz is also just meh.)

The gym is good. But management sucks. In order to obtain an access card, they asked me for a deposit. It was my BVG card that I gave them. However, when I returned their access card, they failed to return my BVG card because they presented it to someone else instead of returning it to me. Now I have to stand in a long queue just to get my new card. To the management: Ask for a penalty if someone loses your access card if you are unable to manage the deposit. There is no problem with paying you the penalty rather than wasting four hours of my time standing in a line. Now who you will compensate this mistake?

The gym is fine, but recent new rule with a deposit is a disaster. I was literally rejected to pass through just because I had only a driving license which I cannot left as a deposit. When I asked to cancel my check-in I was visibly ignored by staff.

My impressions are the following: NEGATIVE • Incompetent-looking personal trainers roam around - some early 20-somethings who look like they've never exercised before, who primarily spend their time harassing young "good-looking" women. In addition, when the trainers have customers, you are simply driven away from the equipment "We have to get here now", no apology, etc. Simply super unfriendly and unqualified • Essential equipment is missing • Equipment design designed to partially hinder training • predominantly unfriendly staff: neither says hello nor goodbye POSITIVE • Swimming pool, whirlpool and sauna great addition to training • Power Plate devices of the latest generation • moderate number of guests

My rating only applies to the Holmes Place Club Gendarmenmarkt, the other studios are far too far away, I haven't been to other branches in the last 1-2 years. Holmes Place Gendarmenmarkt has been increasingly congested for a year! It is currently no longer possible to complete a training plan completely. Training is no longer possible during peak times! Do you need a bench press machine or bench? There's a queue! Do you perhaps need different dumbbells or equipment at the same time for circuit training? Forget it. Do you want to shower after “training”? Forget it! Because the underground changing room (in the basement) is unsuitable for changing clothes! Humidity like in a steam bath, temperature in the changing room like in a sauna! You'll never get dry again if you risk showering here. Even 3 bath towels close to each other don't help. The changing room is always overcrowded and overloaded with people! No/or unsuitable infiltration! As a member you often pay over 100 euros per month, but the circumstances are not acceptable for that money! The company owner probably sold about 400% more memberships than would be normal for this small gym. I will most likely quit.

A fitness center for the city. Personally, the “wellness area” is too dark for me. The courses offered are probably ok for women, but the sauna is very male-oriented. The pool is very small and is intended for swimming lengths. But probably too small for that in my opinion. The massages, which can be booked separately, are very good!

Review for Holmes Place I regret to express my disappointment at the recent incidents at the Holmes Place sauna. While I normally appreciate the facilities and service here, the behavior of one particular guest created an unpleasant and disruptive atmosphere. On my last visit, I observed a man repeatedly using honey in the sauna. This is not only unhygienic, but also against the general sauna rules. The sweet scent of the honey was overwhelming and made me and other guests feel dizzy. Not only was it unpleasant but worrying as this clearly did not meet the standard of cleanliness and order that one would expect from a reputable studio such as this. I ask management to take this matter seriously and take appropriate measures to ensure that all guests can enjoy the sauna in a clean and respectful environment. Kind regards, Khaled Kashmiri

Wish, I could give more stars. I've been member here for some months, it changed my life. I lost weight, my back pain is almost gone. Each time I've been here, I feel myself relaxed and uplifted. All the yoga teachers are great, the substitute teachers too - a hug to Laura here :), spinning classes are super thanks to (my favorite) Irene, express courses are really useful, a wink to Luca and David. :) Oh, I shouldn't forget Saskia, who really cares. The personal in reception always trying to help. I had only one not so good experience here at ballet class and my feedback is taken seriously. At least I felt so. :) The pool, wellness area are big and good enough. There might be something to critise, but they are really not worth even to mention. Highly recommended. ❤️

It’s smaller than I expected bc I’m used to the Holmes places at Ostkreuz, Hasenheide and Schlossstr. The ‘drinkable’ water next to the sauna is terrible, it literally tastes like chalk and old water pipes .. To be fair tho the sauna is nice and clean, the showers too and the changing room are as well. Just wish the benches would be a tiny bit bigger. The staff is friendly !

Really great gym with all the equipment you need to do different workouts. Big plus to have an additional area to do more cross fit related movements with dumbbells, boxes, etc. Only point of improvement is getting rid of the 1€ fee for towels. @ gym like Holmes Place, I'd expect to get free towels. Moreover, I know it from Holmes Place at Hermannplatz.

People tend to write about or after their negative experiences. So I decided to give a positive review after I tried yet enother new cool piece of equipment in the club. I've been a member of this club for years and I absolutely love it. The variety of sports offered is impressive and after a class or a training one can jump into a pool or relax in a spa. You don't need to carry your towels around all day if you want to go to the gym after work - HP provides it to you. The staff and trainers are super friendly, competent and encouraging and the equipment is really top-notch (feels like they renew it every quarter) , so it's never gets boring. It is true, HP did have some issues during and after Corona, but in my opinion they managed it pretty well and now, after the renovation, the club looks and feels comfy again. Also worth to mention - if one doesn't like something or has a suggestion, it is easy to reach the management and most of the time the suggestions and improvements are implemented pretty fast.

The staff is great. People are very respectful at this gym. But does anyone feel like these grandpas are watching you work out and it’s making you feel uncomfortable? I experienced that the most here and I’m reconsidering a different gym because of it. Other than that. It’s great

Bad financial system, in less than 1 year I was wrongly charged 2 times and the problem was solved only after 3 months. Compared to other branches in the city, this one is always under construction, not enough equipment, yoga class with a teacher who is not a yogi and every 3 months the water sistem gets cold. Friendly staff, good sauna.

Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed. Despite emphasizing that it was the first time there, there was no onboarding etc. Changing rooms and lockers were large and spacious, but the benches were loose. Unfortunately, the toilets in the women's changing rooms are not good. Strong toilet smell, every toilet was used but not flushed. Almost all of the toilet seats were defective. No towel paper or hand dryer on site. What a shame! Showers okay - unfortunately no towel rakes or shelves for the locker card. Gym area good. Equipment new and well maintained. Mixed clients - you feel comfortable. Unfortunately the fun wasn't that great. Not very lovingly furnished and all in all the relaxation room and sauna area is very narrow. The shower drain didn't work, which meant you had to sip through 5cm high shower water. It is not really checked whether all guests adhere to the sauna rules. So there were men in swimming trunks in the steam room and sauna. Unfortunately, the same gentleman also shampooed himself in the steam bath, which is of course a no go. The floor mats in the sauna urgently need to be cleaned, especially since you are barefoot here. When we gave the feedback to the receptionist when we checked out (unfortunately we weren't asked about our stay) we didn't have the feeling that it would be of interest to her. She said the swimming trunks problem was known and that they were understaffed in terms of personnel. We had booked 1x access with urban and 1x a day pass for 27 euros - I think you should take the time despite the lack of staff. Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed. Always very busy, both the swimming pool and the sauna + fitness area. Cleanliness in the showers and sauna area could be better, the smells are also annoying. I’ve been going here for a couple of months now and I like the club all in all. I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. The staff is generally nice and even when the place gets crowded it’s never too crazy. The training equipment is reasonably new and I can almost always find what I need. There are two things that bother me: 1- The locker rooms/showers are not clean enough for my standards. The staff mops the floor regularly, but the air vents and water drains look dirty to me (dust and debris). This area was apparently renovated recently, but it’s hard for me to notice any upgrade. Some of the floor tiles looked broken and those are still there. 2- This might have something to do with the German local culture, but… Very few people re-rack the weights after they’re finished with it. It annoys me a lot and I wish the staff would enforce rules a bit more and teach their customers some gym etiquette.

Small but nice! This studio has everything you need for an effective workout. The employees are always friendly and courteous, and the personal trainers take enough time for the customers. Anthony's personal training is particularly noteworthy. His scientifically based and modern training philosophy, coupled with his pleasant personality, guarantee joy in training together and, above all, meaningful and continuous progress. When my motivation wanes, he pushes me to my limits again and ensures that even on days when I don't trust myself, I feel the subtle difference in training and make corresponding progress. He also addresses temporary physical limitations and adapts the training accordingly. I can recommend Anthony to anyone who wants to get back into training or wants to take their fitness and workouts to a new level. Many thanks to the “Holmes Place Gendarmenmarkt team” and especially to Anthony! Cheers Ben

Whenever I come to Holmes Place I am warmly greeted by the receptionists. The training area is rearranged, yes, but after one or two training sessions you know where everything is and I think change doesn't always have to be a bad thing. We all just got comfortable. It's full in the evening, and that's a good thing. Many people want to change something about their own health/fitness and honestly, you can take turns on machines/benches etc....you just have to communicate. The trainers can always help me if I have a question or they can direct me to the right people and then get my question or problem solved. What really annoys me personally are 1. the towels on the floor of the changing room and 2. the dirty toilets. What should be mentioned is that we as members are just as responsible for this as the staff. For towels, there is a towel cart at the exit of the changing room (if you don't know - you're welcome). Anyone who leaves their waste in the toilet and doesn't flush it is simply a pig. I keep seeing the staff putting away the towels and cleaning the toilets too, thank you very much! The sauna is great, luckily it's working again! All in all, a top club in a beautiful location with a (whirlpool) pool, saunas, massages and a good training area. Keep it up!

DANGER! GROUPON VOUCHER VIA TRIAL BECOME A SUBSCRIPTION TRAP FOR OVER €1,500!!! I bought a voucher for three months of training via Groupon for €389 and redeemed it yesterday. The voucher clearly states that the membership ends automatically after three months and that you don't even need to cancel. Today I suddenly have a debit of €1,1599 (!!!) on my account. This is not only unexpected, it is an unreasonable financial burden. I actually wanted to use the three months to get to know the club and perhaps become a permanent member. But the opportunity is lost when so much money is suddenly gone and you have to chase it. I would like to ask you to resolve the case as quickly as possible and have contacted you using the contact form.

Positive: + Friendly and helpful front desk stuff + There was a cleaning guy from Syria. He was very friendly. + Overall a pretty and stylish gym + Lots of exercise equipment I never had to wait (during the morning time) + Towel service + Pretty sauna and pool area Negative: - not enough loungers to lie down after the sauna. Thats why i never used the sauna again. - bad smell in the showers - poor quality of the showers Verdict: I wouldn't sign up for a membership in this gym because for this price i would expect more. Better go to the FitnessFirst Gendarmenmarkt nearby. I was completely satisfied and it's less expensive.

Well-equipped gym with separate CrossFit-style section, studios for classes and swimming pool. Changing/locker rooms in basement, entrance on ground floor, gym on first floor. One downside in summer especially: there doesn't appear to be any air conditioning, which makes it a very hot environment in which to work out (maybe that's a quick way to work up a sweat?!).

In January 2024 I completed a trial month in which I did not know or see that there was a 2 week notice period. After I resigned towards the end of January, I was told that I was too late and that my contract would now run until December 31, 2025. Of course, I was shocked at first and spent the whole day trying to talk to someone from customer service. Unfortunately, apart from a constantly repeating computer voice, no one could be reached on 030 20914848. They couldn't help me in the studio itself either. The employees on site also said that you can never reach anyone in customer service by phone and that you should write an email. In response to the email I wrote in which I described the case and also noted that I unfortunately cannot afford a subscription until the end of 2025, I received a short and succinct reply that my contract was binding. All of this leaves me with a very bad feeling about Holmes Place. Tied to a very expensive gym for 2 years, even though I only wanted to try it out once in January. So all in all it was a horrible experience that I had with Holmes Place and I would advise against anyone signing a contract here. 1 star for lack of goodwill and poor customer service.

Update: Holmes Place is trying to use a lawyer to get this review taken down. I was a member of this gym for over four years. During this time, the free weights area was constantly in a state of chaos (weights rarely put back, general disorder). To me, this is the ultimate sign of a poorly run gym. I spoke to the staff numerous times about the issue, but there was never any improvement. In addition to this, the whirlpool (one of the gym's main selling points) was constantly out of service, usually with no warning. The swimming pool was also closed for long periods at a time. By the end of my membership, I was paying over €80 a month. For a self-described "premium gym", these conditions were unacceptable. If your focus is free weights and/or swimming, I would advise you to avoid this gym and, instead, sign up to Fitness First.

I am an Urban Sports L member and I regularly use various Holmes Place gyms across Berlin. The one at Gendarmenmarkt has been in a decline for several months now. Careless guests leave the showers and locker rooms extremely dirty. No cleaner around lately. Water on the locker room floors, creating a slippery surface in hallways, used wet towels are piled up on benches and floors, dirty showers, no toilet paper (in any toilet this Sunday). This place never used to be this rough. It is very crowded, causing long waiting queues at the check-in because there are no keycards available anymore. Unheard of for a gym in this premium category! Dumbbells are only available until up to 32kg - how can one seriously pursue growing their chest. It’s all very disappointing!

The studio is often overcrowded until early in the morning, meaning you can't use the equipment. The hygiene in the sauna and swimming area is poor. But the worst thing is probably that there are cameras hanging in the changing rooms and they have not been removed despite notice. Emails are not responded to and you are dismissed. Subterranean service for this price.

I was there today and signed up for 3 months, but unfortunately I'm very disappointed. I really don't like it there. The hot tub smells completely of chlorine and my eyes were red within a few minutes because of it. The water in the swimming pool is super cold. The floor was very slippery and the sauna area for relaxing is super small and really not for relaxing. Even in the women's sauna, the relaxation area only consists of two chairs. Afterwards I wanted to have coffee and the lounge is totally disorganized and the employees are sitting in it. I thought this was something for customers. I'm totally dissatisfied and will try to change. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it at all because the performance is really not good for the price

Holmes Place generally is an amazing Fitness studio but this particular studio always have a dirty pool. There are always pieces of dirts inside the pool. The gym is well equipped. But the pool is 👎🏼.

I have been a member since about one and half year. I am very happy and satisfied (in general) about the professional service (this why I gave 5 stars), but still I have some concerns which I can’t ignore and where you may find the possibilities of improvement. Positive: Modern equipments, very friendly staffs, professional trainers, towel service, water jet jacuzzi, high temperature Sauna in wellness area, steam bath, egym, the cleaning staffs are working all the times (but probably still need more guidance), classes..etc Negative: Some workout equipments need to be (at least) doubled, Men Sauna is very dark most of the times, poor (weak) water in the men bathrooms, some shampoo containers are empty during the peak hours, many lockers have no shelves, very rare to see the cleaning staffs cleaning in the bathrooms or wellness area, the Session program of different equipments (running and warming machines) is not working properly (need to be monitored for all failures and get the recent software update continuously), very crowded at peak hours make it very difficult to find available equipments (especially the running machines), even about 3 running machines are out of orders sometimes for long time, the temperature of jacuzzi water could be higher than it is, the temperature of the pool could also be warmer (to about 28/29 degree would be very convenient), there are only 6 lounger chairs and mostly they are busy, recently no available hooks in the wellness area during peak hours, the wellness/ relax area is very dark and smell very bad recently (please find urgent solution ), also the Ventilation system is not working properly there (you may compare with the relax area in Ostkreuz specifically on the brightness, size, number of chairs and Ventilation), many individual members doing unmonitored Aufguss with unknown source and type of the liquid they apply, especially i feel my face is burned for two days when they apply the menthol liquid, the water fountains need to be checked continuously they often taste bad …etc I would like to thank you again for the professional services and hopefully the recommendations will be taken into account.

The studio is very nice and large. I think it's a shame that there are only mixed steam baths there. If only there was a steam room for women only while it was beautiful. Why only sauna there is a mixed and separate sauna only steam bath. I'm a bit frustrated that there is no separate steam room, which is why I give it -1 star. If the steam bath were also separate I would give it a full 5 stars.
