👍👍 So so so good. This has become my sanctuary for all times in which I‘m feeling down. My girlfriend is jealous because I spend more money here than on her for like jewellery and stuff. She is the greatest though, we like her a lot. People often mention great, routes, hall, good, bouldering, Berlin, nice, people, area, staff,

As the name suggests, a gym in a basement right in the centre of Berlin. A big gym with walls in all angles and a good selection of holds. Walls, holds and volumes are all in mostly muted, darker colors which makes the room a little dark as there are no windows. Setting is good with a nice mix of style and moves. Training area, tension board and moon board.

Bouldering is good here. There were a variety of holds and good, challenging routes. But you have to be careful with the lockers and take a lock with you, otherwise you have to leave your things freely accessible...

This was the first bouldering gym I ever visited in Berlin and I was quite satisfied. The courses are well thought out, the staff is friendly and, what's most important for me, they have a wear-a-shirt policy which, in my opinion, every gym should adopt. Would definitely come back

One of my fav experiences in Berlin! Very creative boulders, challenging for both the brain and the body. The route setting is top tier! Friendly staff and local climbers. The place is very clean and has a great vibe to it. I’ve got to revisit this gym one day :)

Price and quality are absolutely disproportionate. With the partner hall the most expensive in Berlin but the quality is at the lower end. ***Update*** ...And now I need another stupid card like that...?

Had a great afternoon session while visiting the city. Great blocs and good hold selection. For a basement this is a surprisingly great gym. Can't wait to visit the new venue when it opens.

Nice boulder problems, friendly staff, central location, but the air is unbearable. Even when entering a stench of sweat enriched air raises up the staircase. Air humidity feels like 100%. This place needs air circulation and if not AC, at least a dehumidifier.

Nice people, boulders were quite hard compared to the Netherlands but nice. Its just a bit weird to be in a basement without windows.. All in all, nice place to check out :)

Really cozy climbing place. Routesetting is very interesting and demanding, at least at my grade level (7a-7b). Although, it has some downsides that need tweaking. Main thing is poor air quality, air conditioning works far from efficiently. Secondly, the holds aren't cleaned often enough. Nevertheless, I really recommend this place.

Popped in for the day while I was visiting Berlin. Went at a pretty busy time and there were still plenty of routes open. Good routes, it had been a while since I'd last climbed in the lower to mid levels were a nice warm-up with plenty of levels of challenging levels left to go. Climbers and staff seemed very friendly

Interesting change for people from Hamburg, sometimes a little more difficult. Lots of space to change and shower, lots of lockers. The 5th star goes to the really nice support from the crew.

Nice variety in terms of boulder difficulty. Great padding. You can just fall all the way from the top without issue. Since its underground it does get quite hot and the air quality isnt great

Was in the studio for the first time last night. Large hall + a small included gym with dumbbells, two bicycles and rowing machines. Unfortunately, the air is not so good because of the lime. Interesting for dog owners, dogs are allowed and can wait for the owner at the edge :)

I get the feeling the people running that place must be bunch of morons. To start, it's impossible to go there during the week, it's ridiculously crowded, it was actually much better during covid when there were slots people could book and capacity planning. Then I go there during the week to avoid the crowds and they have things like FLINT day where I as a straight male cannot go in, in the name of inclusivity... bunch of woke morons.

I was back yesterday after a long break and I was a little disappointed. I had to provide tons of personal information, there are no more locks to rent, the air quality feels like it has dropped, and all of that while the prices have increased. The routes and the training area are good, but the price-performance ratio is simply no longer right.

Love this place ! Visited this boulder hall just so that I don't have to travel far away to my fav one and now it's become my second home 😅 ... Route increments are perfect (8) instead of 4 or 5. Friendly staff ! Very nice people in general (made some friends here within the first couple of weeks). They now even have a dedicated Dyno and no hands routes which is always fun. The current traverse routes could use some redoing though 🙂

Contrary to my expectations, the air down there is completely fine. Maybe even better than in other halls. There are a lot of nice problems and I also like the fitness area, which has just been renovated - for example, there are some machines that are not available in other halls, including two rowing machines.

All around great. The only thing is that despite many efforts by the operators, the air is quite bad. It helps that luckily most people use liquid chalk.

Very cool boulder, good atmosphere. My only problem is the ventilation. When there are more people, the air becomes very warm and stuffy. Otherwise it would be 5/5.

Dear Urban Apes, Why is registration with a photo now necessary? What incidents did you have (and how many) that justify getting ID-ed to this extent? Why does one need to share personal information with your organisation in order to boulder? Also why is check-in necessary? Your staff can only explain that "these are the new rules and they are enforced in all Urban apes halls", but that's not really a reason, is it? I am genuinely curious. It's a shame you had to turn an easy, spontaneous experience in yet another place that needs to check exactly who you are and get all your data. Good luck!

My favourite bouldering gym in Berlin! I have only been to two others but so far this is definitely the best place to go, for me. The route setting is interesting and really diverse - not just power-based routes, which for a shorter person, like me, is great! There are lots of routes to try too. The temperature inside the basement is cooler than other places I have been to. Finally, the staff are really friendly too!

Very good boulder climbing gym in the center of Berlin, not far from Postdamer Platz. The whole gym is located downstairs in a basement, but it's very big, and it's doesn't feel claustrophobic at all. There is lots of space to climb and a lot of routes for all kinds of skill levels. There's also a well equipped exercise space to train further if you want.

Great bouldering place with a large enough area for warm up with bars, weights, etc. Especially "secure" grips around almost everywhere. And you can see that they constantly improve on smaller things.

Are you a seasoned climber looking to either maintain your fitness or continue your training cycle while on vacation/holiday? Read on. As far as variety of angles, setting styles, and volume/hold selections go, I would say it’s above average. The reason for the lower rating is the absolute lack of airflow in the facility. Not a single fan in sight. With the typical humidity around the area, it makes for a miserable experience. It’s totally fine if you’re looking for a casual time with friends, but if you’re accustomed to multi-hour sessions. Good luck. Even though ambient temp was 23 degrees C, my shirt and shoes were already soaked through within 30 minutes. My tips were raw within an hour. There are also two system boards. One is a Tension Board 1 at 40 degrees with lights. The other is a 2017 Moonboard at 25 degrees(!?). Both boards have not seen a deep cleaning in some time. For the Tension Board, it does not matter as much, but for the Moonboard, it’s a good thing it’s at 25 degrees otherwise it would be unusable for anybody wanting to do benchmarks. There are also a couple hang boards (beastmakers) and a free weight area. Again, the equipment is great, but just trying to train inside something that feels like a Turkish bathhouse just makes for a miserable experience

cool bouldering gym. always has interesting routes. beginner friendly and also has challenge routes for profi. friendly staff. I know they are doing their best. but because it locates in a basement, sometime the air circulation is not the best. often see white dust (chalk) in the air when it's crowded.

My regular bouldering spot. Great setting, atmosphere and equipment! The ergs could use a bit of love, so be kind to them and don’t put the drag factor at 10 (who does that anyway?)

Basement Boulderstudio is one of the best bouldering gyms in Berlin. Everything is clean and organized, air conditioning, which is essential in basement, works also well. There are quite an interesting boulder problems and of many types. Having 8 grades of boulders makes the progress easier while there is a bigger variety of the hardness. Such a number of grades is not so common, as most of the gyms have 6 grades. The gym is also equipped with long section of board, campus, fingerboards and street workout set. Changing rooms and toilets are also super clean and comfortable, the only problem is that there are a few lockers for such size of gym.

Giving Basement 5 stars for the super fun and diverse setting style - sometimes there are such cool little puzzles and ideas, really makes me smile. :) Not just strength based. I feel like it's a bit more mind/body-expanding due to the diversity. Nice stretching/training area as well. Only problem is the air circulation at times.

Beautiful routes, tough to easy... nice people. Training area, changing rooms, quick changing also in the hall, drinks and muffins/banana bread at the check-in/out counter. Likes the hall because of the challenging routes 💪 In summer the climate down there is nothing.

I started coming here regularly and it's a really great gym! The atmosphere is really chill and the vibe brings together people while trying to help each other out. Inside you can have any service you want, changing rooms, showers, a cafe serving coffee, drinks and snacks. The only downside is that there is no Wi-Fi, but apart from that is excellent!

One of the more recent additions to bouldering gyms in Berlin, and a great one! Very centrally located, they have a lot of great amenities: weights, pull up and dip bars, all the standard bouldering equipment. Additionally, a 2017 moonboard and a tension board to top off the list! The routesetting is top notch, and they have a huge variety of holds and volumes. Really a great gym!

Really nice place, most of the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is really good. I put only 4 stars because I can see 2 improvements: - a slackline would definitely make it 5 stars - a sink to wash hands in the table area would also be a really nice to have

A great place to boulder. It's quite a large place, you have a lot of different routes with very different holds, so you can always find an interesting route for yourself. They also have a mini gym with all the equipment you may ever need. Love this place, I can recommend it 100%

a star because you can actually boulder there. There are many options in Berlin that I prefer. Here it is expensive and lacks infrastructure. The staff was unfriendly to me and not very helpful. There is a lack of bike racks outside, better ventilation is needed, especially when it is so crowded etc.

  • 5/5 Jp R. 1 year ago on Google
Very nice bouldering experience! Quite good for beginners as well, with challenging variety even at the lower grades. Facilities are okay, kind of a weird setup though. Overall definitely recommended :)

  • 4/5 Rubber D. 10 months ago on Google
It’s a great gym with fun setting. Surprisingly, air quality is a factor during peak times (4-5 PM onwards). My partner & I have climbed in many gyms (Greece, Italy, London, Australia) but after a 3hr session the following day we had sore sinuses & a bit of a cough. Climbing prior to peak time would be our recommendation, the setting is fun and worth checking out. If you’re doing a day trip, the gym has great facilities with friendly helpful staff. If you have asthma or allergies plan your visit times accordingly!

Well located and varies of route, strength focused as well as technique. How ever lot of space for improvements. Most of lockers way to small to contain stuff, especially in winter, when jackets are bigger. Could place some wardrobe racks though. Changing cabins has no ventilation at all makes it a bit weird to go during pandemic. Wifi would be nice as there is no phone signal, makes it hard to coordinate with friends. No check-in for corona app. This is actually really weird during pandemic. Locker could have some handle to open it. Place can get very crowded even tough only limited slots are available. Staff could be more restrictive to those who stay longer than booked.

  • 1/5 Eliot B. 1 year ago on Google
Very bad air quality. What is the purpose of having air filtration system when you very seldom use them or at least not at their full capacity. This morning, there were 30 to 50 people in the gym, the air was so bad, you could literally see how foggy it was. But apparently not enough to switch on the filters. Filtering should be automatic whenever there are more than a certain number of people in the gym. Too bad because otherwise the gym is nice.

Nice and big place. You can get a locker also by depositing your personal id, key, etc. which you will get back. I registered a spot via Urban Sports. Rental shoes are available for 2.90€ as of 6th Feb 2022.

Beware of dress-code inforcing, puritan staff! The other day a guy took off his shirt to put on a t-shirt. Two setters came running and shouted at him as if he had committed a crime. They pointed to a completely ridiculous (and sexist) poster showing pumping Arnold. If you want to be schooled in manners by gen Z clowns, this is the place to go! - Other than that cool place, good climbing.

After we liked going to the club for the last years, starting with the new year the club has totally changed. The counter responded unfriendly after asking why they don’t lend locks anymore. One trainer with his course sent us away unfriendly and said they are blocking the area now for half an hour. Didn’t care about if you are projecting on something. After almost 30 minutes, we asked how long they will stay at the area and he responded “another 20 minutes”. Asking for why he stays so long he responded with a “tja” in an arrogant way. Also totally unnecessary to block walls during rush hour Thursday evening to make the whole studio packed even more. Also the trainer forbid a route because it protrudes half a meter into his cordoned-off area, even though it started somewhere else. WFT. The guy shouldn't take his job so seriously ", stop showing off and work on his way of dealing with people. Complete idiot. It was the last time we went there, many better boulder studios in Berlin to spend your money at.

I was recently back in this hall for the first time in a long time. First of all, I was surprised that the hall has become even more expensive and is therefore the most expensive in Berlin at €13.90. Even in the middle of March the air was unbearable, even though the hall wasn't even full. There are hardly any toilets (I used to be in the hall often and to this day I only know of one toilet for the entire hall!). The training area is ok, but the "bench" is disastrous. I was bench pressing 60kg and the bench felt extremely unstable. I actually wanted to do squats, but that was too dangerous for me. The route setting is okay, but I don't get the feeling that safety is taken into account when bouldering in this hall. In no other hall do I feel so often that I could injure myself on certain routes. If you take the entrance fee into account, the size of the hall and the facilities are inadequate. Every other hall in Berlin offers more for less money. And there is better air everywhere else too. I get one star because I have never seen children in this hall. Overall, I don't think the high price is justified and I think it's the worst bouldering hall in Berlin. Sorry :(
