If you have little time in Berlin then, after Brandenburg gate you must head to Museum Island. It houses five museums and also the famous Berlin Cathedral. The Alexander Platz is just next door. It is now connected to Brandenburg Tor through a Metro. In vicinity their are plenty of restaurants and bars to enjoy and relax.

Due to time constraints, all I could do was enjoy the buildings and you can definitely do that on foot. Buildings that were created in the spirit and service of the building, with soul and message. It's wonderful to walk along these streets where history was lived and experienced. In spring it is not so crowded and you can still see everything and breathe and look at it with awe and enjoy. That's how I like big cities... Thank you Berlin

This island contains important landmarks and museums. Easy to reach it and to have a walk around. The museums are usually fully booked so it is recommended to buy tickets in advance.

I was amazed at the size of this place with its museums. This is also one of Berlin’s attractions and if you have time, I would recommend going inside the museums to see the interesting historical collection of various items. Not sure if you can take photos inside, but there are plenty of great scenes outside where you can take really nice and amazing photos. The place is easily accessible by transport U Bahn Museumsinsel. However, on a fine day, you can walk from Potsdam Platz where you can see remains of the Berlin Wall, you can walk all the way to the Museum Island.

Incredible museums, another must if you’re visiting Germany! The history and amount of statues, relics, and paintings they have is some of the largest in the world. Roman and Greek statues, were by far the best part. Berlin Dome was equally incredible. Beware you can by an all-in-one ticket for all museums which can save you a lot of money! Cafes in the museums were great too. Very walkable as well.

Located in the heart of Berlin, Museum Island (Museumsinsel) is home to some of the world's most famous museums. The island boasts five museums, each offering a unique perspective on art, history, and culture. The museums include the Pergamon Museum, the Bode Museum, the Alte Nationalgalerie, the Neues Museum and the Altes Museum. It is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in art and history. The museums are housed in beautiful buildings, with exhibits ranging from ancient Egyptian art to contemporary art. Visitors can easily spend a whole day exploring the island and its museums. The area is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A really cool place to visit for some art and culture. Several ways to get there but might be easier with bus so you don’t have to deal with parking. Prices are fair but check online and look out for offer or special days/times when you can see them all for free.

Lovely architecture. Some of these museums had sections of free exhibits too! You might want to book your tickets early if you have specific exhibitions you want to check out. You can easily spend a whole day around this area if you enjoy visiting museums.

Very beautiful architecture and lively atmosphere. Nice grassed area to sit and enjoy the view with lots of talented artists performing music and other shows. Tip: the first Sunday of every month is free to visit all museums but I would recommend booking online prior otherwise there will be a few hours waiting time or fully booked! I visited the Pergamon Musuem before it will be closed for renovations. Would definitely recommend. Very close to the island is some markets with some beautiful art and other goodies to buy or just admire.

3 stars only because it's not for everybody, it's an impressive collection but everything and everyone was in complete silence making it uncomfortable to look and share impressions if you are not alone. There's nothing interactive at all in the museum and after seeing 70% of everything, we just left because at the time all sculptures/paintings/objects were about religion christianity. There are lots of young people making studies about pieces as well. So it's definitely a place to study and reflect. Don't expect any tiny drop of fun. Nonetheless visit anyways, at least you can say, "i was there!"

(Translated by Google) If these 5 museums took 100 years to build, how long does it take to see all this beauty? The question, of course, is rhetorical! The stars of the best Berlin museums on the northern part of the Spreeinsel Island on the Spree River represent 6 millennia of history. Since 1999, this complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you will find the Bode Museum, the Pergamon Museum, the Old National Gallery, the Old Museum and the New Museum. In 1797, the Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm II supported the idea of creating a museum on the Spreeinsel for antique collections and art of those centuries. In 1810, King Frederick Wilhelm III moved this noble cause off the ground. In the Old Museum, it is interesting to look at the Antique collection: weapons, sculptures, gold and silver jewelry from the collection of ancient Greek art. The New Museum houses a collection of papyri and an exposition of the Egyptian Museum, as well as exhibits from the Museum of Primitive and Early History of the Early Eras. In the Old Gallery, opened in 1876, you can see works of painting and sculpture of the 19th century (from the French Impressionists to the Nazarians who painted in Rome). Museum Island is connected to Berlin's shores by the Monbijou pedestrian bridge, which runs directly in front of the Bode Museum with its memorable dome. By the way, the famous Museum Island Bridge, only recently restored after the war, is called the Bridge to the Past.

The Museum Island in Berlin is as a whole a magnificent work of art: Five world-famous buildings that make up the museums from the time of the Prussian monarchs and the modern James Simon Gallery. This complex is made up of the Pergamon Museum (which is closed 🔒 for restoration), Bode Museum, Neus Museum, The Old National Gallery and the Altes Museum. There is a great atmosphere in its surroundings, with a market every Sunday and nearby is the Berlin Cathedral.

(Translated by Google) This island includes several huge and interconnected museum buildings. Inside we can find "buildings", paintings, statues and objects famous in Western culture of any era. You pay a single ticket, or a choice, and generally it takes about half a day + the time of the adjacent museums. On this island there is also the cathedral, mediocre for cleanliness but aesthetically interesting. I highly recommend visiting the place and in case of need there are some bars, restaurants and cloisters in the surroundings. The museum includes a department store for storing items such as bags and coats (Original) Quest'isola comprende vari edifici di musei enormi e collegati tra loro.

The entire island is unesco land, quite worth the visit, especially on weekends because they have markets selling art, handicraft, books and vcds. The entire island is also very scenic, housing 6 museums. Definitely a must-go if you visit Berlin. Museums open around 11am and some open at 10am. It is good to go early and walk around, even better for photos because there are not many people in the morning.

It is one of the most visited sights of Germany's capital and one of the most important museum sites in Europe. Built from 1830 to 1930 by order of the Prussian Kings according to plans by five architects, Museum Island was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 because of its testimony to the architectural and cultural development of museums in the 19th and 20th centuries. It consists of the Altes Museum, the Neues Museum, the Alte Nationalgalerie, the Bode-Museum and the Pergamonmuseum.

Museum Island further comprises the Lustgarten park and the Berlin Cathedral. Between the Bode and Pergamon Museums it is crossed by the Stadtbahn railway viaduct. The adjacent territory to the south is the site of the former royal and imperial Berlin Palace and the Palace of the Republic. The Prussian collections became separated during the Cold War during the division of the city, but were reunited after German reunification, except for some art and artefacts removed after World War II by Allied troops. These include the Priam's Treasure, also called the gold of Troy, excavated by Heinrich Schliemann in 1873, then smuggled out of Turkey to Berlin and smuggled out of Germany to Moscow. Today it is kept at the Pushkin Museum in Moscow. As for the city's major museums, it took much of the 1990s for a consensus to emerge that Museum Island's buildings should be restored and modernized, with General Director Wolf-Dieter Dube's cautious plan for their use finally approved in January 1999. Then, six months later, Peter-Klaus Schuster took over and set in motion a far more ambitious program intended to turn Museum Island into a Louvre on the Spree.[3] The federal government pledged $20 million a year through 2010 for projects to enhance Berlin's prestige and Unesco declaring the island a World Heritage Site.

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, temporarily closed until April 19, 2020 on the Spree, here are the great treasures of Europe, which will soon be supplemented with the treasures of world cultures in the Humboldt Forum in the newly built city palace opposite Schinkel's "Old Museum". Architect Sir David Chipperfield planned the networking of the museums as a master plan via the central James Simon Gallery, which was built as an entrance building in 2013. In the base of the colonnade aisle gastronomy & museum shop. Everything cannot be done in one day, just going through is of no use. I recommend the inexpensive 3-day ticket (also valid for other museums, 2020: 29 € / reduced 14.50 €)! You need time, a lot of time, curiosity and interest: Education helps as a basis for understanding and for the experience. Because you only see what you know! Guided tours or audio guides are helpful. Denn man sieht nur, was man weiß! Hilfreich sind Führungen oder Audioguides.

The Museum Island (German: Museumsinsel) is a museum complex on the northern part of the Spree Island in the historic heart of Berlin.

A very beautiful island, especially at night. I have been to many museums, it was interesting to listen to the guides! I liked the Pergamon Museum. The exhibits were very realistic, I recommend taking a walk around this island with friends or family.
