I mean, can we talk about the staff here? Rockstars! My wife Iliana and I come here for cappuccino and love to get our fill of gossip from the baristas… Don’t worry, we won’t play both sides. Keep doing what you do, kiddos.

Tiny coffee shop with quality coffee. I stopped there for couple of hours. I was lucky enough to have a small (there are only 4 of them.) The service was cute and the coffee as good as I expected. I recommand it.

One of the loveliest cafe’s I’ve been to. Not only it is the first ever The Barn in the World but the staff is really friendly and very helpful when deciding about what beans to buy. I got the V60 from the menu and I especially love their Barista’s Choice options. Double espresso and being able to choose from two different beans was also very appreciated and though they dont have bathrooms they are very lovely to point you the right direction. Such skilled barista’s hidden in the heart of Berlin, this is definitely the cafe you want to go to daily for a friendly and cosy atmosphere!

This was the very first The Barn location, opened in 2010 when the 3rd wave of coffee (the global movement that started treating coffee different, specialty coffee that is) hit Germany for the first time. Fondly called "The Baby Barn" from frequent clients such as myself, this location has the perfect size to cozy up with your coffee while reading a book or talking to friends. The coffee is always taken very seriously by the team of well trained baristas. The filter selection changes every week in order to provide us always with a fresh taste of coffee. Are you in Berlin for 1 day? Or changing trains at Hbf and you have 2 hours to spare? Baby Barn is the upmost correct bet!

Average or below? I think their overall goal is a good one, but the cafe seems to feel a bit pretentious, with coffee and savory foods that are really average at best. The interior is very minimal to the point that it feels underwhelming to have a sit down with a simple coffee, while the glaring sign of "do not use laptops at the tables" is strange and makes someone engaged in the digital world pretty uncomfortable. Don't worry though, I won't be back.

I've heard amazing stories about The Barn so I was so excited when I finally made it to the cafe! But unfortunately one of the staffs were quite rude and they weren't quite helpful.. The coffee was great. I will not go to this Barn again but maybe I'll try other branches.

Some of the best coffee ive had. Carrot Cake was delicious as well - not too sweet and very moist. Staff was very friendly, especially Sam! Nice decor inside - Less is more! Will come here again!

I’ll start off by saying I got an acceptable cup of coffee, and that’s where the good experience stops. The staff was rude, and very slow, it took over half an hour to get our order. The coffee was good, but not great, and overall it felt like a chain experience. Starbucks reserve sets a similar standard. Not worth the trip.

You CANNOT have a store where you sell beverages and NOT have a toilet. I mean it's not a take away cafe. You have tables and people sitting there for quite some time to enjoy their coffe or soft drinks. Besides that the deco is interesting the staff is helpful and kind and the coffe is ok.

The great quality of the coffees is a fixed feature at The Barn but what surprised me the most was the quality of the service. I was pleasantly surprised to meet a super human, warm and friendly staff that made my experience unique. It feels like being in a typical neighbourhood cafe. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to feel at home 👏.

Such a cute little café! The atmosphere is cozy, and the baristas are not only skilled but also incredibly friendly. The highlight is of course their impressive selection of handbrews, each delivering a unique and delightful flavor. A perfect spot for coffee enthusiasts seeking a warm ambiance and expertly crafted brews.

I come to The Barn on Auguststraße each day to enjoy the best carrot cake I’ve ever had, along with a coffee. I love the friendly environment they offer and would recommend stopping by to everyone. I’ll be a lifelong customer!

Why are laptops not allowed on the white tables? ... that is not so timely. (Original) Gemütlicher, sehr kleiner Kaffeeladen mit großer Kaffeegetränkeauswahl und leckerem Kaffee. Despite my love to the whole Barn net, this exact point was a disappointment, even if coffee was good quality.Tiny room, stuff is friendly but constantly chatting loudly what is disturbing in absolute absence of music.Only payment by card accepted and also I was asked while paying «are you ok with 5% service adding?» for the first time ever in Barn.Which is not only sound polite enough, but weird to pay before even I took off my coat.Next customer was charged without asking, only informing.Second thing-tables are not laptop-friendly even if they look hella old and tired. Also place is stroller-unfriendly for safety reasons .For such a pricing I would love to know that I will get same quality service in all the net.I really appreciate atmosphere while having my only cup of coffee per week and this was definately a waste of time and money.

Best place to have coffee. I don‘t like coffee but this place convinced me to drink and like it. Baristas are nice and straightforward. I‘d like to call them „Artisans“ because they do so well in their craft. The sandwiches are also good. Best place to have Carrot Cake. It‘s very rustic and good. Everything is well balanced and they paid so much attention to every detail. Don’t Come here with your laptop to work. Come here to enjoy a cup of coffee and relax a bit.

Well, expectations were really higher than delivery. Amazing place, nice people, kind service. But coffee - too hot for a cappuccino, cafe not creamy but thin. Nice latte art though. But for 4€ it should be a competition winner. (my most expensive cafe in Berlin and yet the worst)

So glad I bumped into this cafe when going to a gallery, I've had The Barn in a coffee shop in London so was great to visit it here. Super friendly and knowledgeable baristas helped me out when selecting a bag of beans, and the espresso was one of the best I've had in ages. Nice to sit out on the street too.

I had a great experience in The Barn! Skilled staff explained everything about the coffee I ordered, the iced V60 was spectacular on its own. Chill place to sit in the sun and enjoy your coffee. They also have a wide selection of beans and some nice coffee equipment.

Fantastic coffee corner! The iced espresso with grapefruit was a wonderful surprise. I was amazed how much the grapefruit complemented the espresso. The barista was also generous in explaining the secret to the coffee. There is also a nice selection of small sweet treats.

Friendly informative staff, great coffee menu, cosy, large selection of fresh roast single origin coffee beans available, card only purchase, free WiFi. they do not have a toilet not even for staff, apparently places in Berlin only legally require a toilet if they serve alcohol... interesting.

Found this place on Google and a couple of other websites recommending it, saying it was consistently in the top 10 or something. Found out that the only food they had was what was in display in the counter window (my fault for not doing more research and just relying on Google pics). As a Melbourner the latte was average. The place was too quite for my liking, no music or anything it felt like coffee in a library. ?

The Barn is a great roaster. Usually when coffee shops open more locations around a city and become like a chain, they usually sacrifice quality for quantity. The Barn is surprisingly still adding value to the coffee scene in Berlin after being essentially a chain. The staff in all coffee shops was always helpful, insightful and brewed great filter coffee. You get always great advise when buying beans as well as insight into recipes. However, if I may leave one piece of advise. Please start making batch brews. I know it's not was good as having a hand-pour, but when I am busy and I need to get to other places, I would love to just pop-in and grab a batch-brew and leave.

Cozy place. The staff was very friendly. We had an iced latte and an iced V60 drip coffee. Really tasty and above average coffee. For 11,50€ quite expensive. For us the 300 or 350 of coffee were too much. 200ml would be sufficient

Be careful - NO TOILETS The coffee was amazing but it’s overpriced considering a quality of service. It is unbelievable that there is no toilet. They asked for 5 % service charge in advance but in fact they didn’t serve but just passed a cup over the counter. Very disappointing.

Already overpriced (4 bucks for a flat white, not even the best one in town), and yet the server explicitly asks for tips when paying. Despite the table being 2ft from the counter, they wouldn't place the coffee on your table. It doesn't hurt to be a bit nice.

  • 2/5 Alex G. 4 years ago on Google
First of all note - NO BATHROOM and they also can't point you to another place (that is, after you manage to get an answer from one of the two employees there). Now to the coffee - one of the sourest coffees I ever had. But I wouldn't leave the review if the place was not so pretentious and if the service was ok because bad coffee isn't something so rare.

My second visit after a few years. It was remarkably good back then. I wanted to start my Sunday with a great cappuccino and a croissant. The cappuccino was lukewarm and the croissant very cold. I think that the croissants were just arrived by a car, that's why they could be so cold. The coffee beans might be good but there is a lot to consider to be able to serve a great coffee experience.

I’ve had an experience of the most neglecting and basically rude service at The Barn at Auguststrasse this morning. I go there regularly since 2017 and today I felt really bad about managers there completely ignoring me while chatting for quite a while about London with the previous customer in the ordering queue - and then chatting with each other about the filming crew they had there and “being stars”- all while pausing and preparing my order extremely slow. I know it might sound stupid but the way they looked at me really showed how little did they care. I mean it’s morning and people are hurrying up to work, I know staff shouldn’t be in stress because of it, but chatting and chilling seeing a customer waiting on them is rude! I feel really bad about it😔

Yes! If you appreciate good coffee, this is THE place to go. The coffee was amazing! I ordered a cappuccino with oat milk, the barista was very kind and they also had some very nice pastries (did not buy but I am sure they were nice!) overall vibe was chill, minimalistic, Scandinavian. There are seats inside so you can enjoy your coffee indoors as well.

Nice cozy place to get a good specialty coffee or the beans to brew it at home. Everybody was super nice, and the coffee was delicious. Wouldn't advice to go here if you don't like a good fruity coffee but you prefer a more dark Italian traditional espresso, nor if you want a tidy super elegant place. Loved the experience!

Excellent coffee, service minded staff, cosy place. You can't go wrong if you actually like coffee without wiped cream-caramel sprinkled-oreo filled-ice frappé. This place is great! Had iced flat white, and loved it so much ended up having one more and buying the beans. The baristas are lovely to talk to and will definitely increase one’s coffee knowledge!

One of the best coffees in Berlin-Mitte for sure. Very consistent throughout their numerous branches. Loses a star because others provide a great coffee in the area too but also have toilets (which Barn never does!) and food (Barn has very few options and none very fresh). A pity as with toilets and food, Barn would be the best cafe chain anywhere I have ever travelled to.

Award winning specialty coffees, but not so special in hospitality. They said that didn't have any toilet. Such a shame for a well known coffe label. Also we pay 10€ for two coffees. The coffee was good though...

Very small space, noisy, not attentive stuff who forgot about my order. I ordered capuccino and it came after my reminder barely warm. WiFi wasn't working as well on my day, there is no WC. It is weird. I think this place should be more like "coffee to go" format rather than a coffee shop where you can sit.

Barista was very kind but the taste was quite ordinary. * only accept card

Love, love, love this place. Also called the little Barn which is the original one. It has the coolest staff! I do not know how they do it but the hr person must be brilliant in finding the greatest motivated people from all over the world to work there. They are always friendly and helpful and make the best coffee and your day every day.

Some real coffee in Berlin at last! Very welcoming staff, extremely knowledgeable, and four perfect coffees. They even helped us dry some seats under an umbrella outside so we could sit and relax despite the rain.

The coffees are delicious, the staff is helpful and friendly. It's a small but very charming café. I definitely recommend it :)

I was very happy to find a shop which offers V60 manual brew coffee. I tried Mohamed Ali, from Jimma Ethiopia, and surprisingly i did get a hint of strawberry notes as advertised. However, the clarity of the taste, could have been better.

The Barn Coffee Shop in Berlin is a true gem. Its minimalist decor creates a cozy ambiance, perfect for unwinding. The baristas' craftsmanship is evident in every cup, offering a range of meticulously brewed coffee that caters to both connoisseurs and casual drinkers. The selection of pastries complements the drinks perfectly. Service is friendly, adding to the overall delightful experience. A must-visit for coffee aficionados in the heart of Berlin.

Tasty coffee. Barista prepared my special order: low caffeine latte with oat milk, it ended up fantastic even without sugar (even though I’m big fan of sugar). Also, I love cozy interio

Auguststrasse has a warm, friendly service with great knowledge about coffee, in my opinion the nicest barn (compared to hack. Markt, potsdamer platz, invalidenstr). Handbrews and espresso are unsurpassed. Never forget the geisha espresso with a slight ressemblance of bergamot.

😠 Outrageous pricing policy, service and management! When you order a steak menu you get a salad (normal price 4.80 €) if you choose a different starter instead, it says on the menu: "We charge 3.00 €). In my opinion, this meant an extra charge of 3 euros. So I ordered one Another starter. The bill w...
