😠 Very rude staff in this cafe. They kick you out for whatever is not to their liking, such as opening a laptop. So yeah, if you want people to tell you what you are allowed or not allowed to do while eating your cake, this might be a place for you. Otherwise, stay away. People often mention breakfast, good, service, nice, cafe, friendly, coffee, people, great, staff,

This Café is located inside the gay districts of Berlin. Quite popular amount for the locals. Inside the Café, it is filled with Art Nouveau style, not really my thing, but people who love it, they will like this place a lot. It has a good atmosphere, can spend some quality time with friends here. The breakfast is pretty good, and the price is worth it. The waiter who served us was super kind as well. I can see why people like to come here.

Very good cakes, but I'm not sure if it's worth dealing with a bunch of remarkably annoying people! We were here 3 years ago. The hostess had a terrible attitude then (which we felt could be related to our complexion). But then the cakes were great and we decided to go back. This time around, the hostess turned us away, saying that our reservation was not confirmed with her (and that she just seated some people right before us). If I hadn't met her 3 years ago, I'd believe this was an innocent mistake --- but sadly I had and I think I know better!

Good location for breakfast. Very nice decoration, high quality food. Sadly, actively pushing for tips/trinkgeld. It makes the entire experience cheap. I paid 16.50€ for 2 brötchen, 1 croissant, sliced salmon, scrambled eggs and a cappuccino. 5 starts when the tipping is excluded.

What a great spot! I was not expecting to come across such romantic & eclectic tea spot! Loved the overall decor & feel to it. Almost as if I went time in time. The staff was super friendly, the crowd was great, a little too bright & warm, but other than cannot wait to be back.

Horrible, don't go. Literally one of the worst, most humiliating experiences I had at a cafe in while. I arrive on Sunday morning, Literally 1 table taken. The waiter is coming out serving breakfast to the guys. He ignores me even I stand on his way. I don't speak German. Another guy is sitting and having coffee. "Oh, if you don't have reservation, you cant stay." he says. I m like : "but all tables are free?" "Oh, they are only 2 people working here." I sit on a table, the waiter comes: "No, you cant sit here." and left. The guy next to me asked him if I can anyhow eat breakfast at his table. "No." and the waiter left again. How is that acceptable?! Not just from a customer perspective, but also simply from human standpoint?!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Café Kalwil in Berlin's Schöneberg district, and it's safe to say that this charming cafe lives up to its reputation. One of the standout features of this cafe is its warm and welcoming atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you instantly feel at ease, making it a perfect spot to unwind. The friendly staff contributes to this ambiance, providing excellent service that enhances the overall experience. Now, let's talk about the food. Café Kalwil certainly doesn't disappoint in this department. The menu offers a variety of delicious options, and I can personally vouch for the delectable cakes, especially the chocolate cake—it's truly a slice of heaven for dessert enthusiast I also appreciated the vintage ambiance of the cafe, which adds a unique touch to your visit. It's a haven for those seeking a cozy and charming environment. Keep in mind that there is a small outdoor seating area if you prefer some fresh air, although it's not very spacious. Payment by card is accepted, offering convenience, and reservations are preferable to secure your spot in this popular cafe. In conclusion, Café Kalwil is a hidden gem in Berlin's Schöneberg district. If you're in search of a delightful cafe experience with scrumptious food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere, this is the place to be. It's a charming spot that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone exploring the city. Enjoy your breakfast, your lunch or your dessert!

German breakfast of sausages, sunny-side-up eggs, and beans with a breadbasket and OJ was great! An old-world interior was pointed with candelabras and portraits and comfy couches and tables were available. Very elegant! The patio was busy with gays from the neighborhood who appear to know and love this spot.

They have awesome breakfast and cakes, it's highly recommended. Try the Green Matinee tea, it's super delicious! 💚 The staff is very friendly, which rare in Germany.

Luxurious atmosphere & great breakfast in the heart of gay area in Berlin. You should try "breakfast Heinrich and Theodor" for 2 persons. Much volume breakfast + fresh orange juice or prosecco . There are 3 rooms + open terrace on the street. The cafe is not for group talking, maybe but it's the best choice for couples, small groups.

Food was tasty but service was poor, literally drinks and food thrown at table, made feel like WE were wrong when they gave the wrong order. And absolute rude as hell when paying for the bill. Do not bad mouth your customers to other customers WHILE they are stood at the till paying. There are better places in Berlin, don't visit this place

One word: service. Non existent. Practically waited 15-20 mins to be ‘acknowledged’ and when did, told that the seat is reserved. It would have been easy to pass the menu, coffee to us, say I’ll come back to you in 5-10mins and take a simple order for breakfast. Where is the service etiquette? I don’t care how nice and wonderful your food is but if you’re in the service industry, put effort into this word!

Best breakfast in Berlin. This quaint, little gem is in the heart of the gay district and is run by locals. Inside is adorned with old fashioned queer icons; it’s quirky and unique. The food is plentiful and tasted delicious. Glad we stumbled across it during our trip - highly recommended.

One of the best Cafe in Berlin. Engrossing place, so friendly, nice attmosphere, the breakfast option for 2 persons, has a very satisfying portion. I attached a photo from a "breakfast for two persons" option that they served for us.

This cafe got so much character. Make sure to have a look inside even if you're sitting outside. The breakfast was so rich and diverse, what a pleasure! It is also great that there is a menu in English and the owner speaks perfect English.

Big choice of fresh cakes/ cards accepted/wifi/no laptops / expensive coffee but food is reasonably priced / Very nice design, lots of character to it, very cozy and different.

Nice breakfast option. Cool decoration and nice customer service. Plus, very cleaned and organized spaces 👌🏼 Make a reservation. After 11:00 on a Saturday is super crowded and you may expect a delay on your order. Mine was super fast and the waitress was so lovely even with my poor German 😅 I got the option for two people. It’s well served, normal bread and croissants, nice selection of cheese, ham and salami. Orange juice included and coffee is not included. Considering similar options in other regions in Berlin, e.g. Pberg and Mitte, you can pay less. All together was 41€.

Had just tea with friends, friendly staff. Lots of potraits of predominantly white males. Learned from the friendly staff that the Cafe is supposed to be a safe space for lgtbiq.

Fabulous. Great service, wonderful food, great value. It's a beautiful place to have breakfast. I went with my two teenage daughters and it was a really lovely experience. We're looking forward to going back when we're next in Berlin to try the cakes.

Immer wieder gerne!

Cake tasted good, but service is a mess! Ignored us in the beginning, then almost threw drinks on the table. The fool I am, I still wanted to give tip by rounding up my card-payment. Waiter did not want to do that - probably to avoid paying taxes. I didn’t have any cash so I couldn’t give tip. So the waiter shouted out through the whole cafe and other guests: „So the waiters are losers again“. One of the most rude experiences I’ve ever had in Berlin. Forget about this place!

Regardless of what time you go, they are always fully booked. So make sure to make a reservation before visiting there. Food and decor is very good. Staff could be a little nicer/polite.

One of the best places for breakfast/brunch any morning, any day of the week. Cheeky Frühstück menu in multiple languages, along with the most delicious baked goods. Finally, if you dine indoors, you’ll be mesmerized by all the chandelier displays above you.

great cake! It is very easy going and as an addition to the wonderful atmosphere, there is a cute house dog that sleeps most of the time but sometimes comes by to get some pets :)

Good coffee and good breakfast. The waiter was friendly and the variety was excellent. I just didn’t feel the hype about the place, it is good but it is not exceptional Note: I was very sad to pay 4.90 Euros for a bottle of water (large) that costs maximum 70 cents. I am using to paying more at a cafe but not that, but this one felt really unnecessarily overpriced.

Rude and boorish waiter. He has no respect for customers. Shame because the food would be very good. I would advise the owner to change his job. It is not suitable for working with the customers

An excellent place. Lavish breakfasts, with lots of options to try. The service was excellence, as the food. Don’t miss all the cozy and well decorated dining rooms inside, it is one of the most beautiful cafes I have ever been visited.

The place is lovely outside (inside is very special and beautiful), the very friendly young waiter doesn’t speak much english but that's not a problem. Food is simple but tasty and well cooked. Unfortunately we ordered still water and the bottle came open and seemed re-used many times….7 euro for that “bottled water” by the way….

👍 The queue can get really long in a very short amount of time. We were lucky and waited for about 5 minutes before placing our order.
