The biggest mistake I made in a long time was choosing to go to 808 last night, especially after skimming through some of the reviews here. If I had a time machine, I really would stop myself from ever wasting time here. A$AP Ferg was making an appearance, as announced by the 808 Berlin Instagram. The policies were clear: no reservations/guest list, no ticket presale, 2G+, and tickets start to sell at 11pm at the entrance. I arrived at 11:10PM and the line was unbelievably long. But I was determined, so I stuck it out in the freezing (-2ºC) weather. Three and a half hours later, towards the entrance the line splits into two, and the staff says I'm in the wrong (reservation only) line and to go into the correct line. (It was pretty clear on Instagram there were no reservations tonight, but my mistake). I happen to know somebody in the "peasant" line, so I wait with them. Again, denied entry. Why? No reason given. Let me make one thing clear, I speak German. My nationality IS German. Do I look German? No. And maybe that was the problem. The staff is rude, entitled, unsympathetic, and overall terrible. I saw plenty of other people get denied with no clear reason either. I am so sure that the major guests that perform here, Stormzy, Skepta, Ferg, and others would blacklist this venue if they were aware of the way they treat people. I would also like to add, that a line of that size should NOT have taken three and a half hours. The only reason it did, is because the staff is incompetent and gossips in between each person they let in, it seems to me that they purposely take an extremely long time to check Covid passes and IDs to keep the line long, to make it look "exclusive." They were even gleefully posting to their Instagram about how long the line was. Don't clown yourself, don't go here. For a 30 euro entrance fee NOBODY should be belittled and treated like that.

I am giving 1 star because the place itself is nice and I like the 2 rooms concept with the wall that goes up to allow more people to enter. However, the entrance was 20€ which is super expensive and the coat room was another 2€. The music was decent, it was rnb, rap and some Afrobeat but the crowd… only white people who looks super young. Dadurch drängelt jeder und um wirklich zu tanzen, hat man eigentlich keinen Platz. Wir haben pro Person 30€ gezahlt, da Shindy als Live-Act da war und zusätzlich ein Cocktail kostenlos erhalten. Da die Getränke dort relativ teuer sind, finde ich ist es ein angemessener Preis. Den Live-Act hätte man sich dennoch sparen können, da er ganze 4 Songs gespielt hat… wirklich sinnvoll ist das nicht.🤣 Die DJ waren ehrlich gut, schöne Musik und Übergänge. Die Songs müsste man auf jeden Fall kennen, wenn man sich für die Musikrichtung begeistert. Was mich aber wirklich gestört hat, sind die Menschen dort. Es ist mehr eine Art von billiger Partnervermittlung als alles andere. Menschen gehen hin um sich zu präsentieren und zu zeigen und weniger wegen der Musik. Da der Club anscheinend einen gewissen Status vermittelt, benehmen sich gerade die Leute im VIP- Bereich höchst arrogant. Fazit: Durch all diese negativen Eindrücke, werde ich trotz der schon fast sehr guten Musik, nicht nochmal hin gehen, denn die Musik ist dennoch nicht einmalig. ;)

Prior to arrival, Benham Mashoufi (the Reservations Manger at 808) confirmed the reservation via email and requested for us to be there by midnight and provided a contact number. I am black male who attended with 4 black friends and 1 Indian friend. I really encourage 808 to consider its practices and "policies" which seemed to based on nothing other than skin colour. Our attire was certainly not a subject to question as we were all dressed formally. It was an extremely disappointing experience. Notably, 808 host a large majority of black music artists and majority of the music played at 808 is largely considered 'black music' (RnB, Afro beats, Dancehall and HipHop). Yet, 808 do not strongly welcome Black, Asian and Minority ethnic groups attending. Dear readers of this review, I strongly urge you to look at the names and profile pictures of the people that have given this club 1 star. You may be able to detect a theme. Whilst in Berlin, if you seek music such as Rnb, Hiphop, Afrobeats, Dancehall and Amapiano, then I strongly encourage you to attend: - House of Weekend - Bricks - Avenue They were much more accommodating. Die Türsteher waren neutral bis unfreundlich und der Aussortierer war in der Regel freundlich zu uns. Die Preise völlig überzogen, Silvester 30-50€ sonst im Schnitt 20-30€, also für diesen Clubabend echt übertrieben. Wir werden erstmal das 808 meiden, da dieser Club nur für VIP‘s ausgelegt ist, denen überteuerte Getränkepreisen i.d.R egal sind. Für „normale“ Feierende die HipHop mögen, gibt es andere Möglichkeiten. Das einzige was positiv ist, ist die Musik, die aber vorallem Silvester auch nicht wirklich überzeugend war. We kept asking them why but they were getting aggressive and asking us to leave the property. They gave us no reason what so ever. A group of caucasian girls went in after us and they were accepted in with huge smiles on the staffs faces :) It was also raining at the time we got denied and after this racist incident, my friends and I were searching for other places to go while standing under the shade close to 808 and the bouncers came up to us and asked us to leave.
