What a posh madness. My journey started with a ticket for 12(12!!!) Euros which is already outrageous, and no one informs you about a reduced ticket for half the price, even if you're eligible. All exhibitions they have is some photo albums of really mediocre photographers, a lot of them also in complete darkness, so you can't really see that much. Only one of three available (and also really small) exhibitions was more or less interesting to look at (I enclosed pics from it, the author is some young lady from UAE). Lockers and (unisex?) toilets in the basement are an organizational nightmare too. And finally, you see it all in the very oppressing atmosphere with pretentious people walking around and trying to pretend they understand something you don't, whereas in reality even many village museums in Germany are more interesting. Plus it's obviously crowded and touristy, and overstaffed with absolutely useless people.

I think this is a space that i will keep coming back to every couple of months. The current exhibition was very much soul touching and weirdly coincided with the book I am reading currently. But on a sidenote, it would be nice to have some free exhibitions as well.

We went to Mary Ellen Mark exhibition. It was a big journey through her career and development of vision and interests. Was interesting and educational experience. She did a lot for community and was popularising important topics trying to help people in need. Venue itself didn’t impress me that much, but it has great bookstore.

We have visited the artwork of Mary Ellen Mark. It was fantastic! During weekend it was not that crowded and you can buy a ticket for €12 and start your visit immediately.

This place is worth going for anybody interested in photography! World class exhibition. Great book shop. Cool souvenirs and merchandise. The current show it outstanding. William Eggleston is a legend. Admittedly you might need to spend some energy to „understand“ his approach and it’s not necessary that you like all his pictures. Still great experience to go there and experience the large dye-transfer color prints!

My favorite art gallery in the city. Always a great time checking out the exhibitions. Some of the shows are more to my liking, some less, but I can’t deny the quality and effort that goes into every and all of those. You can find a Photoautomat machine (€3 per print) for a cute souvenir (as of June 2023 out of order).

Located Near Berlin Zoologischer Garten station. This art meusem is very easily reachable. I went here at a time where there was a exhibition of Adji Dieye, Harald Hauswald. And song of the the sky a mixt exhibition with different kinds of artists. I must say for the space that they have (what is not a lot) the meusem does a good job showing the works of these artists. I would recommend going here when your in Berlin. I believe if you read everything you would be done in 2 hour's depending ofcours on the exhibition and work. Furthermore the people that work here are very friendly and are very helpful for any explanation about the exhibition that they have.

Great exhibition hall for photography in Berlin. Inspiring, of high artistic quality. The curation is well made. I went here a couple of times and was always leaving with my mind filled with the images just seen.

If I could give the gallery more stars I would. One of the best in Berlin. I went to the Mary Ellen Mark exhibition and it was breathtaking. The exhibition covers Marks extensive works in the US, photographing marginalized groups. I highly recommend!

The worst place have ever been !!!! Very , very, very rude and unpleasant staff !!! My first visit in Berlin , this gallery was recommended by my friend, ( checked on google map and it was written that gallery was closed, but as i found it should be open today) so I risked, came happy (before were on amazing exhibition ) was smiling when entered and some “ugly face “ watching me from info desk, came still with wide smiled face - hello , are you open? -Ya -oh , wow, in google maps was written, closed, so happy that you work, should be some mistaken -you don’t see ? Look around , I said already we work ya( he opened hands and was kind of screaming , looking cynically … Avoid him, went to gift shop, after several minutes came and said -can I have one ticket please ? (It was written prices , at the same time was looking at it , so I knew the price ) -twelve euros -yes I know , already read I paid, he took a ticket , dropped at me , I was shocked , didn’t wanted to be as rude as he was , said “Ok thanks you, have a nice dayyy” Looked at him, was waiting for some smile on mind answer but no … more “ugly face “ Entered the exhibition and after 3 min i left the gallery, my mood was intoxicated , this piece of sh*t changed my happy holidays in Berlin When i was leaving I asked manager or someone witch whom i could talk about my accident/problem , some nice guy started talking with me and explaining that he was sorry , it shouldn’t happen , but sometimes people have bad mood or problems :) I have a lot of problems but I don’t put my sh*t to others head , When I’m coming should try your best and not show me your negative energy … Btw , exhibition was fail… sometimes, when I , don’t lock iPhone and it takes photos in pocket, something like that, which if course i delete and for this I paid 12€ … I know whats good art, 13 years of working as a photographer and 4 years of being lecturer in arts … the picture I put here, is the only normal, for two floors of exhibition

the mary ellen mark exhibit was first rate. devastating. it’s weird feeling jealous of folks living over here because they get to see better shows of american photography than we get back home

We went to the Mary Allen Mark exposition back in October and couldn’t stop thinking about it. There was a lot to see and all extremely interesting topics with lots of information about her life and the art she created. Truly an amazing artist!

Interesting space, what was there was really good but there was just not that much there. It was quite busy, fair enough on a rainy Sunday afternoon, which I think did detract from the overall experience. Also a few more places to sit and process the works would've been nice. Definitely worth a visit!

Great musée and loved the exhibit. I am not sure about the permanent exhibition (a bit too contemporary for me) but they usually have great temporary exhibits.

A very nice gallery with a number of well thought out exhibitions, a café and an art book store.

  • 4/5 Andreas S. 2 years ago on Google
Standard fare photography exhibition platform showing all the usual crowd pleasing suspects in the photo world. The cafe is alright. The book shop is mediocre and has entry level and popular photo books. The whole enterprise feels like a Starbucks for photography. However, on rare occasions they put on great exhibitions like “Send me an Image” or the Lee Friedlander retrospective in 2021.

Photography art museum. Really worth a visit. Not only because of the art and the inspiration, but also for the chance to pick up ideas and to shoot within the gallery. They have a photo booth rigged with mirrors. On the four photos (for only two Euros) you are standing in front of the booth. I like that kind of thing.

A very nice gallery, hosting exhibitions of famous photographers each time i visit Berlin - Meyerowitz, Araki, Ren Hang, Eggleston. Open on Mondays. Definetely worth a visit, you can combine it with museum of photography, which hosts permanent Helmut Newton exhibition as is close nearby.

  • 5/5 Moritz E. 1 year ago on Google
The Eggleston exhibition was really nice. Especially the larger prints. I am so surprised that his kind of photography is resonating with so many people. Thank you very much for matching the exhibition with the “Floridas” by Anastasia Samoulova. She is sooooo amazing 🙌🏻 Their photography is sometimes so similar. I wish to know if she was influenced by Eggleston. Probably, right?
