I was excited! I love theater, I love puppetry... And I love it when you meet artists who express their talent so easily, playfully and yet professionally and let the audience take part in it. Especially when the audience is children, probably the most challenging audience. But every child was captivated and immersed themselves in the world of fairy tales and stories. It is a small museum with elaborately designed dolls. It's probably more worthwhile to attend one of the events and have a look around afterwards. I found the entrance fee of 4.50 euros to be more than reasonable on this day. I would have paid more :)

For a puppet lover, this little museum is a MUST. You have to press the buzzer and push the door in order to get in, and please ask for the English description in order to read and understand the puppets you are seeing. Then follow the numbered cases through the museum. Each glass case has stunning antique dolls, that were once used in plays around Europe. Like all puppet museums around the world, they are not for children. Puppet shows were used to bring to the people in the street political commentaries and to shed light upon the human condition. The puppet makers are true artists and the wood and fabric is their medium. My husband and I LOVED every moment of our visit and would highly recommend it to all while visiting Berlin.

There is a little gem hidden in the historic inner courtyard of the lively Karl-Marx-Strasse! You can marvel at over 100 marionettes and hand puppets on two levels. From old, scary, funny to artistic, modern characters, everything is there. An entertaining half hour without a guide! Tip: Also take a look at the adjoining yard with barn!

One of four puppet museums scattered throughout Germany, the Puppentheater-Museum in Berlin holds a collection of more than 300 different puppets in a glass-roofed former sculptor’s studio on Karl-Marx-Strasse. Varying widely in shapes and sizes, many of the different puppets in the museum’s collection represent fairytale figures such as devils, dragons or princes. In addition to rotating their collection of puppets at least annually, the Puppentheater-Museum holds readings and workshops for both children and adults and puts on shows with the puppets in a small theater space. Tour guides at the museum put together special tours depending on the age and size of visiting groups

I think the theater is a gem that you should visit for a performance. The evenings are well attended and admission is moderate. A changing program entertains puppet theater lovers. It's not just children who are entertained here. Adults also get their money's worth.

A lovingly designed small museum. 120 dolls of various types in the exhibition, around 3,000 in the collection, which are changed every few months so that you can always discover something new. The 'flashlight presentation' of some of the dolls is really great. Pinocchio extends his hand to everyone and introduces himself, even large, scary hand puppets are presented with so much charm that no child gets scared. And when the little stick puppet king cooks his spaghetti in the washing machine, everyone is completely thrilled.

We were there today with our seniors. The reception was very friendly and even though the man at the checkout had to acknowledge everything individually, he remained incredibly nice. The tour was really great and all questions were answered patiently. The dolls should be touched and admired with wide eyes. We were all thrilled and would love to come back. Thank you

I was not impressed, this is a very small display not like the other museums found around germany and they also had no option of description in english. The staff were very friendly and kind that made the visit pleasant. The museum is good if you ve seen no other puppet museums around europe. But if your schedule is full, can be skipped. The place is easy to find on the U bahn lines.

Nice little museum, worth a visit. Compared to the size of the place, many puppets can be viewed without being crowded. When I was there, they were just cleaning the display cases and the dolls, but I was still allowed to enter. The staff is nice and helpful, apparently they don't just post the dummies. It is also worth stopping by as a returning visitor, because the puppets on display change from time to time.

Unfortunately, the theater releases puppet shows for ages 4 and up, which are absolutely not suitable for small children. Daycare teachers are faced with a fait accompli. You really have to be careful which play you book. For example, there is a variant of Sleeping Beauty, which is a queen as a man-eater! Scary and not for small children!
