    # TERRIBLE HOTEL FOR FAMILIES. We stayed at Hotel Oderberger last night and it was so bad I had to comment. We have 3 children between ages 10months and 8 years, and booked the ‘family room’ which has two narrow beds on a mezzanine level, however what they don’t mention is that it’s accessed by a dangerous ladder which is a health hazard at best. They also have no way to close blinds or curtains so light streams in from sunrise. Cue children waking at 5am… Then let’s talk about how we booked this place for it’s amazing swimming pool which turns out was under maintenance for a month from the day before we arrived. You’d think the hotel would inform guests that their main feature was unavailable… or even offer a discounted rate (during the hottest week of the year too!) they told us on arrival that it was on the website and we should have read the small print. We booked in April… literally 4 months prior. There was no mention of this in any communication we received . Avoid this hotel if you have children. They simply don’t care.

I stayed at Hotel Oderberger for 3 nights over a weekend in early June - total cost of accommodation €1284.36. This was a poor value proposition. The location was great but the hotel single room I was put in had prison cell vibes (shown in pic). I accepted it initially as got an early check in. I later asked to change rooms and was put in a nicer room on the 1st floor. The fittings were not luxe. The shower leaked. House keeping didn’t come until 3:45pm on one of the days. You had to pay extra to use the pool. Breakfast was not included at this rate and I tried the buffet on one day for €25 (restaurant and waffle station shown in pic) which was nice but again a tad expensive. Bike rental out the front for €18 per day. The terrace was not accessible during my stay. In summary, not value for money.

I have one quick suggestion for the management: add a slow-closer to the hallway door on the west side of the building so it doesn’t slam. Oderberger is a boutique-y hotel in a hip part of Berlin. It’s a former city public bath taken over as a hotel, with a pool and spa still open for public use. Rooms are comfortable, though they lack air conditioning. For hotter days, you’ll want the windows open. The pool is beautiful, and you can book it privately for night swims. The restaurant offers a very solid breakfast. Staff are consummately helpful. Green options and rebates for postponing room cleaning. Overall an excellent hotel.

Great hotel and great location. So many restaurants around the corner so you will have many options for breakfast, lunch or dinner right at your doorstep. You can park Your car outside the hotel which is 2 euros per hour or you can park in the parking hays close to the hotel (24 hours 15 euros). There is a swimming pool in the hotel which can be used (5 euro per person) but the pool is quite busy so it can mostly be used for doing laps and not really for playing. There is also the option of using the sauna which is an additional 15 euros. We opted for the breakfast at the hotel which was really excellent. They made fresh omelettes, option for vegans too plus they have homemade waffles (bake them yourself). There was also an option of organic teas, juices and bubbles for breakfast. I was very impressed with the selection of homemade things that they offered. It’s possible to eat inside or outside. The room we had was spacious and nice and clean. Service was great! Highly recommend this place.

We stayed in a "loft" style room. The bed is at the top. We hit our heads a few times because the ceiling is low. The bathroom was a good size. The location was near the subway station and many food options nearby. Overall it was a comfortable and great stay.

Sad to leave a bad review and to decide I won’t be coming back to the pool as I was doing very often. I bought a ticket online today, for visiting the pool tomorrow. When I paid and the website redirected me to the reservation, it showed as if I made my reservation for a swimming and sauna session today, which I did not choose and was probably a bug on the website. Nevertheless I tried to call twice and explained my situation to the people working at the hotel. They were not understanding of my situation at all, they could only tell me it was too late to change my reservation as I needed to do it 12 hours ahead according to your policies, which I understand, but it is basically impossible to change it 12 hours ahead since the appointment was booked for today (same day). I explained this again, tried to explain how I did not choose this date and it was a bug from your site. Asked for a voucher or any discount for a future reservation which they both firmly rejected. No understanding from the side of your team and unfortunately I won’t be coming back. Important to mention that the last two times I went to use the pool and sauna, the sauna wasn’t working and we had to wait 30 minutes or more in order to use it.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Oderberger in Berlin from January 10th to 13th, and it was a truly remarkable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the immaculate cleanliness and comfort of the hotel. My room was not only spotlessly clean but also exceptionally comfortable, making it a perfect retreat after a day of exploring the city. One of the highlights of my stay was the hotel’s pool and sauna facilities. They provided an excellent way to relax and rejuvenate, adding an extra layer of luxury to my visit. Additionally, the breakfast offered at the hotel was delightful. Each morning, I was greeted with a wide variety of delicious options, all freshly prepared and utterly satisfying. The location of Hotel Oderberger is another aspect that deserves special mention. Nestled in a charming area of Berlin, it offers the perfect balance of tranquility and accessibility, allowing guests to easily explore different parts of the city on foot. Moreover, as a business traveler, I found the hotel to be perfectly suited to my needs, offering all the necessary amenities and an atmosphere conducive to both work and relaxation. I believe tourists would find it equally appealing for its comfort, convenience, and the overall quality of service. Lastly, the rate per day was quite reasonable, especially considering the high standards of service and quality offered by the hotel. This aspect further enhanced the overall value of my stay.

We loved our stay at Hotel Oderberger. This was our second time in Berlin and the setting of this historic hotel couldn't have been better for us. We loved the apartment S as it was so quiet and comfortable. The interior was stylish and modern whilst still retaining a few strategically placed original features to remind you of the building's past. Breakfast had something for everyone: from the healthy bircher muesli with nuts, seeds and fruit, to the sweet waffles or full fried breakfast, with coffee on tap which was lovely! I only wish there was a lunch/dinner option too, though there are plenty of good eateries nearby. My only minor criticism was that there wasn't enough storage for clothes - we were here for a wedding so all four of us needed somewhere to hang our smart suits/dresses/coats etc. However (to end on a high) the pool is amazing - it is like swimming in a cathedral! And we enjoyed the bar too, with some unusual and very delicious drinks, on our first night. All the staff were kind and helpful. We asked for a feather-free pillow and an ironing board and both were provided straightaway. Also, we asked for late checkout and to leave our bags behind the desk as we had a late flight - all accommodated and much appreciated. We arrived late too, and it was good to have a someone at the front desk to greet us. I would thoroughly recommend the Hotel Oderberger for a unique and enjoyable stay in a delightful part of Berlin, close to historic sites and the city centre.

Hey well honestly I can only put a 5 stars review for my great stay here. I had a small problem in my room which was solved by the crew in (honestly less than a minute) I had the pleasure to enjoy the pool and the bar. The 2 bar tender where really kind and I had a great chat with them. Also the reception team was really kind and helpful for literally anything you need. I’ll definitely be back ! Thank you.

If I could give more stars, I would. We were a group of 8 that stayed in the 4 bedroom apartment for 3 nights and it could not have been more perfect for our stay. From the outset, staff were incredibly friendly and helpful as they stored our luggage while we waited for check-in and they explained all of the amenities. All of the rooms were fabulous so we had no arguments over which couple got “the best room”. The apartment had everything we needed and more it was truly amazing walking in as the group collectively gushed at the size of the apartment and everything we had access to: two bathrooms with showers and hairdryers, the fully equipped kitchen, Bluetooth speaker, televisions, large common area, balcony and the lovely hammock chair. The hotel itself is located on a great street with lovely restaurants and bars (we would especially recommend Cafe Krone for breakfast and Poco Loco for dinner) and is a short trip away from the main attractions we wanted to see. We actually stayed in the apartment for new years and enjoyed an incredible 30+ minute firework display from our balcony and enjoyed the complementary sparklers we received on arrival. The staff were so responsive to any request: an ironing board, a sewing kit, helping navigate delivery apps and even bandaged up one of our group who was injured. They went above and beyond throughout our stay and we could not appreciate their kindness and efficiency any more. Final thoughts: don’t think, just book! 10/10 would recommend this hotel especially for a large group of friends.

I only use the pool here. The prices were 9€ for 2hrs. Although the pool is small but that's the key to keep it clean and manageable. Good for seasonal and beginners.

DAY 4 since completing my honest departure survey. Not a sqweek from the Hotel 🤔 A great location though the hotel let's itself down with a number of significance details. I won't go into detail on a public forum (as I have provided a detailed response directly to the hotel as part of their follow up survey with departed guests). I'll update this review once I receive a reply from the Hotel management.

Hotel was lovely, room was lovely - think it's outrageous that hotel guests have to pay €15 extra DAY, per person, to use the pool and sauna that's at the hotel.

Hotel Oderberger is one of the best hotels I have stayed at. Big room and bathroom, huge comfy bed, and super quiet despite being in such a lively part of the city. Breakfast is fabulous, served in a buzzy three storey restaurant. The pool is beautiful and unique. We enjoyed the sauna, too. You do have to pay to use the pool and sauna, but it's super clear on the website and in the booking info, so no surprises. The cocktail bar was a lovely start to our evenings. Everyone we met at reception and in the restaurant was friendly and professional. And the building itself has been beautifully preseved.

This review is for the pool only cause I go swimming there a couple of times a month. It's a nice pool with 1.30m deep water which is good for people like me who are not good swimmers. Water is 26 degrees and a bit cold but it seems it has to be this way out of official orders and is not the hotels fault. Everything was clean so far. What's not so good is that it's too many people in the pool and the changing rooms. Some swimmers confuse this pool for an olympic training camp and behave very selfish while other people just want to have a casual swim. That's where too many people in the pool get annoying. Showers in woman changing rooms are broken 2 out of 5.

An experience. Unless you are staying, the reason to visit is the swimming pool. It's a small pool, in a beautiful, old, arched hall. The ticket price is reasonable. Last admission of the day is quieter, but they keep the numbers limited at all times, so you can easily wait half an hour or more for entry on a busy day. The opening schedule is irregular, so check on the website ahead of going.

Reasons why this hotel is always our place in Berlin, first its location at prenzlauer berg, close to metro stations, diverse restaurants and local stores. A beautiful and big public pool where locals and guests swim together. The different rooms we stayed in in the past years always gave us enough space and they were/are well equiped and cleaned. One negative point are the pillows, very unconfortable. It would be good if the hotel take some attention on it because the rooms are great but the pillows should be elevated. Breakfast is perfect staff as well, they have good attention on the use of dispensers for suggar, salt, etc avoiding papers bags and trash. The receptionists are very kind. We love as well the bar and its staff.

Our first visit to Berlin and we couldn't have chosen better accommodation. Fabulous hotel in a vibrant part of Berlin. The hotel staff were very helpful; great little bar for drinks and nibbles. Sadly, the pool was closed when we visited. The hotel is in a great neighbourhood with loads of great cafés & restaurants on the doorstep aswell as a selection of Independent shops. Within a 40 minute walk of the centre of Berlin or public transport on the doorstep. We'd definitely stay again.

"It's a family thing" "You are so special" According to their website, they take a lot of pride in the fact that it's a family hotel and that they make the customer feel so special. Yet, when a family emergency came up and I kindly explained why I needed to come one night later, I was treated with 0 empathy. They had plenty of rooms available on both nights and it wouldn't have cost them anything to accommodate the request. I eveb offered to pay an additional fee. But I only got referred to their rules. Made me feel so special. Edit: To their response: I never asked for a refund. I asked to reschedule to another day, which I also offered to be flexible about. I understand that you have rules and that you want to stick to them. But then don't say things like 'you are so special', because I'm clearly not.

I would have loved to have given them a 5*. My flight got cancelled due to an airport strike so we changed our stay to another date (we had to of course). When we informed the hotel (as soon as I found out), they informed me that as I bought a non-refundable, instead of understanding the situation, all I kept getting was " non-refundable rate is just that, not refundable, no matter the circumstances", so we won't change the request". This is really shocking and so sad that when it is out of the customers hand, they can't even work on it with you. In our coming stay, guess we will be choosing another wonderful hotel which I am sure will be better. So be aware when you book a non-refundable. Such a shame ;-( I would have given them a 0 for customer service if I could.

I was mostly just visiting the pool for over three years and gotta say: This is the least friendly reception I’ve ever encountered at a Berlin sports venue. You’re not treated like a guest, but like a subordinate. You’ll be asked to understand and follow an extremely complicated procedure (during corona it was even worse, ofc), hand over a lot of private data, and deposit money (which I‘ve already forgotten to retrieve multiple times in the past - not like they‘ll always make you aware). In short, it ruins your experience of yhis marvellous building already when taking the first few steps in.

Excellent hotel! Stayed a week with family for the Berlin Marathon. The rooms were spacious and very smartly designed. Clean! Staff was exceptionally helpful. And the neighborhood was just wonderful - very residential, great scale with lots of shops and restaurants, and very accessible by public transit.

Beautifully restored turn of the century swimming pool. A great place for a swim in Berlin. Open to the public most of the time. Great for events! The photo is from an event we designed for H&M.

We found the reception team fantastic; helpful, friendly and very committed. We had to change rooms at one point and they took care of everything. The pools is amazing and the history of the building so intriguing that you feel privileged to stay in it. We will certainly come again as our children live relatively nearby and this fits all of our bills. Heather Schuetze

Our 4th stay at the Hotel Oderberger. It really is our Hotel of choice when we visit Berlin. Staff at reception are welcoming and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble and as visitors from abroad we often have questions! Beautiful building and comfortable rooms which are cleaned to an excellent standard. The location is a perfect base to explore the City and very good for Restaurants and Bars to visit in the evenings. We always look forward to the breakfast. We have not found a better one anywhere we have stayed in Europe or the U.K. The pool is an added bonus as it is wonderful to swim in such a historic building. We look forward to a return visit!

Beautiful room. Beautiful building. The staff was so nice and welcoming and warm. The bartender at the kaminbar was very sweet spent a lot of time telling me about the city and giving suggestions for where to go out at night. Cannot wait to stay again. Many cool bars and restaurants in neighborhood.

The Hotel is beautiful and overall the service by the staff was great. The management does not prioritize the guests though. They were filming a commercial at the hotel and truck loads of gear and filming staff arrived at 7:30 am, needless to say noisily setting up. While checking out the filming crew were shooting eye daggers at us because we were trying to check out and it was disrupting their filming! This is clearly the managements fault. They should have considered how this affects the guests. We were offered a few rubber ducks as a consolation. Oh it was such a relaxing finish to our high-end hotel stay haha. The silver-lining is the toy made a little boy on the train very happy.

Some things to like. How they handled Saturday -- where they were shooting a commercial and making the whole experience very unwelcoming for us, left *a* *lot* to be desired. So, well, maybe 4 stars but we won't be staying there again.

We had an amazing stay at Oderberger hotel. The hotel has everything, stylish and unusual interiors, amazing historical pool, ideal location within the city, cozy fireplace bar which is a treasure during winter and a superb service. I am now sorry we didn't try breakfast.

This may ve a bit of a hiidden secret, but you can swim in the very ornate pool at the hotel even if you are not staying there. You have to book but it is well worth it. Enjoyed being able to swim, the laze about on the loungers and admiring the architecture.

Perfect location and friendly staff. Pool and sauna are nice amenities. Also enjoyed renting a bike and although the room was tiny but it was very clean and modern. A/C would have been a huge plus in hot July weather...

We stayed at the hotel for two nights and booked the 4 bedroom flat at the top floor. The hotel is very clewn, the staff is friendly, the rooms are spacious. The breakfast is amazing, but costly. There is a huge pool and sauna at your disposal. What we didn't like is that we had constant electricity problems and noise which was caused by temporary outage. We asked the staff to have a look, but the issue persisted throughout our stay. It was very distracting as we tried to work from the hotel room, but the plugs and lights turned off and on every few minutes. Overall it is still a nice hotel if you should not have any technical issues.

Highly recommend this hotel. Quite expensive but well worth it. Breakfast excellent, historic pool and sauna facilities very good. Our tower room was lovely, although a bit small and we would have preferred a better view. Our room overlooked the carpark. I imagined from the description being higher up with a great view over Berlin. That said we were glad we didn't have too many stairs to climb after a long days travelling but we would have coped! The staff were lovely. The small gift and card left in our room for our wedding anniversary was a nice touch Overall a really enjoyable stay and we'll be back in the autumn.

Hotel Orderberger is a cool hotel in a cool district in a cool city. Loved our stay here, breakfast is fantastic, with great variety and superb omelettes cooked in front of you. The pool is iconic and highly recommended. Cocktails in the wonderful bar became an evening fixture and the service was very attentive. We stayed in a "maisonette" room, which was so unique, with a tablet to adjust the heating, listen to the radio and surf the web. Free coffee and tea also (loved the coffee!), and a superb shower. Just book it ! You won't regret staying at Hotel Oderberger.

What a wonderful place. I bused just the pool and the bar. Probably, I should not recommend it, because the pool and sauna are so nice that I don’t want it to be too crowded. Lovely atmosphere! The bar at the fireplace is super nice with great cocktails to relax afterwards 😀

Review for pool and sauna ticket - not worth it! I visited with a pool and sauna ticket (€19) on Saturday night and left disappointed. I would rather spend a bit more at Vabali as it’s a significantly better experience. I think Oderberger sells too many tickets for the time slots so the facilities felt quite crowded. There are hardly any chairs around the pool, maybe 10 total. The downstairs area with the sauna also has limited seating and the sauna is very small! No towels. One small water station near the sauna. Overall cleanliness was disappointing, too. The shower area still feels like a public pool, most of the soaps were empty. Hair buildup by drains. No toilet paper remaining in bathroom. Really not what you would expect for the cost. Towels cost extra.

Fantastic location in the heart of Prenzlauer Berg. Beautiful building, clean and tidy amenities. Options for pool and sauna (n.b. not included in the price of the reservation). It's such a wonderful experience to walk out of the hotel and enter such a wonderful part of town. I've already told my partner that when we are back in Berlin, this is where we are staying.

Not great, staff was rude, but the manager followed up on the issues. Pool was barely available the week I stayed. Would recommend spending your money elsewhere. Location is great though. But at 250 a night you expect better service.

  • 5/5 Linda R. 10 months ago on Google
Visited the hotel for the swimming pool. Overall good experience: the pool is clean, the lockers are big enough and there's a shower gel in the shower so you don't need to bring your own (small detail but it's nice). On the downsides: 1) the water is a bit too cold to my taste but you barely notice it as soon as you start doing laps; 2) the changing rooms are oddly far away from the pool entrance; 3) quite pricy (but I'd say it's worth it). Also the pool is not big but if you come in not so popular time (e.g. around 10-11am) it's not crowded at all.

Amazing place to stay as a one off treat as it can be a little expensive. Keeping a few touches of its former life as a public baths really adds to the hotel. Really enjoyed being able to swim in the pool.

"too hot to sleep with higher temperatures" during higher seasonal temperatures this hotel is not recommendable due to the beds place high in the room close to the ceiling in the absense of airconditioners [due to the historical building]

It was the third time that I have stayed here and it’s always lovely. It couldn’t be in a better location for getting around Berlin, and the rooms are good value. We opted for a bottle of champagne on arrival and also received a handwritten note welcoming us back, some complimentary chocolates, and a cute rubber duck. There was a cleanliness issue in the first room but we were moved immediately. I can’t think of anywhere else I would stay in Berlin! Thank you for our stay.

Very happy with our experience at the Oderberger. In addition to the great location, our room was very clean, spacious, and smartly designed. Every staff member was professional and kind. We were traveling with 2 children under 2, and the maisonette room was ideal. We were able to have the kids in bed early, but still have space for us to hang out in the evenings. Will definitely book again on our next trip.

A beautiful hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Our room was wonderful and also very clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee also provided which was nice. The team t the reception during morning time are the only positive things happening during our 3 night stay they was attentive and respectful however team in yhe evening are the opposite they are arrogant and not helpful at all The staff in the restaurant are very cold ! [Not a hotel review - just Pool and Sauna] If you want a luxurious experience don’t come here. The water of the swimming pool is cold, there’s people doing laps while you’re trying to relax and not even the towel is included. There is one tiny sauna for 5 people so you basically have to queue to get in. Changing rooms look like your average public gym and even the showers are dirty. Definitely overpriced!
