The charitable projects are well organized and conscientious. There are enough adults and children who need support to remember that some are in pain and distress. It's too easy to assume that others can do this or that. The question is always which paradigms we move forward with. A person can only take responsibility if they are aware of themselves. When that might be is sometimes uncertain. We can only show the way and everyone has to follow the path themselves in order to achieve their goals. We can offer to drink, but everyone has to drink themselves to quench their thirst. Our job may be to remind people that everyone can use a hand in times when life goes differently than planned. We can also take responsibility for others without blaming them for not being responsible. Mind you, you can help without overtaxing yourself. And everyone could contribute a little, because the sum of the parts makes a big whole.
