Clean/large studio or not, I was really disappointed and angry with the service there today. I have to honestly say that I find the employees (and I have already met several) unsympathetic and unfriendly! Maybe they are more respectful and therefore friendlier towards older visitors, I don't know. Today I had problems with my card and locker, sent 2 other visitors upstairs to let them know because I only had a bikini and my towel... the rest of my clothes were in my locker. After waiting in vain for help in the locker room for 30 minutes, I went upstairs to let them know again, but instead of going down with me, the employee accused me of trying out the wrong locker and that's why she was alone It's unclear when someone will come to help me. After I solved the problem myself and got upstairs, I noticed that there were now two employees. If I hadn't noticed my mistake myself, I would probably still be standing there in my bikini and waiting for help. And that was just a story! I never usually do reviews like this but today I was really annoyed. I was in a bit of a hurry and I think with prices like that you can expect appropriate service or have enough staff available at such peak times.

Update 4.2.24: the lat pulldown has been defective for several months and has now been blocked for many weeks. Some of the handles on the chest presses are severely defective, and nothing is done here either. Absolutely NOT recommend this studio. I'm in the studio regularly. The location is great, but far from a premium club. Some devices are only available once. In addition, almost all of the monitors on the Kraft devices have not been working for months. In some cases, even the cup holders on the Kraft machines are defective or missing. It's a shame because the staff is very cool.

I really like the gym. Unfortunately, the showers are not properly maintained. There is often an unpleasant smell in the morning, even though you might think that everything has been cleaned by then. I would like the sanitary facilities to be cleaned and maintained more thoroughly and regularly, for example by cleaning the sewage drains. In some cases the paint is chipping off the fans and they are rusting. In the sauna, you should make sure that you activate the lights. Otherwise a good studio with good facilities. Coaches could show a little more presence. This is more prevalent in other HP studios. The staff lacks a certain eye for detail and the right attention to get a full 5 stars here.

I love this studio, being often here. But for a premium studio there are have pretty much problems. - how often do they clean? - how much do they value the maintenance? - the guest card don't have any signs. If you go to sauna, you should remember very well, where's your card, otherwise you should ask the other guys there (kind of fun to ask a foreign about your/his card in sauna, especially as a girl...)

Positives: pool, sauna, training classes and gym itself. All in one building. Also the temperature is always very nice when it’s too hot outside. They also have a towel service which I personally find helpful. Negatives: the state of showers is horrible. You have to press the button every 5 seconds to keep the water running. In 50% of the cases the shower gel and shampoo bottles will be empty. The lockers are also always under constructions and dirty - the towels are lying around in a complete mess. You pay a lot as a member for what they sell as “premium” - but there is nothing premium at all. Overpriced.

I’ll probably still keep going because the location is convenient and the vibe on the terrace is nice, but there’s a lot that needs improving: (1) There’s sometimes a few crowds of guys that ruin the atmosphere for everyone else. Hogging equipment together, shouting across the room to each other, and acting like it’s a space only for them. (2) Some guys don’t follow sauna rules: they wear their dirty underwear, swim shorts, or don’t cover the wood fully with their towel but wear it the whole time. Sometimes they even wear their sweaty underwear under the towel. Add to that: these are the guys who are usually loud and disruptive. I once saw a guy scraping the skin all over his body with the locker pass that he later gives back. Plus, I wouldn’t step foot in there if I was a woman — many don’t. (3) The changing rooms and showers are loud and like a market too; it’s not the premium experience you expect at a Holmes Place. Also, 3 showers didn’t work yesterday, and there was a pad in the sauna shower lying there for an hour. The club should devise some rules and enforce them. People who break the rules should be suspended.

I have been a member for over 10years, but I'm sorry to say there is cleaning issues when you go to the suna you must take your shoes off, but the staff don't. Women shower is been repaired, Jacuzzi is been closed for over a year, Steam room is not working you walk in construction site not spa, but you pay same amount, I request discount ,but nothing is happening .

Unfortunately have to agree with many of the previous posters: for the price the space is very cramped, the facilities are hit-or-miss concerning cleanliness. There are only three toilet cabins on the entire training floor, one of which has been out of order for a week, in some shower cabins I've seen used band-aids and they have white spots at the ceiling, the bathing suit dryer has been out of order for 2 weeks. Yes, one can bring a plastic bag but for a club that has such an expensive membership fee this is unacceptable. Also the courses mostly offer yoga and some sort of strength cardio combination. Some trainers are super lovely and kind, others hardly qualify as cordial. My welcome session was an utter disappointment: although stating certain health issues and choosing a trainer with experience in that field, they did not address these things at all, instead choosing to focus on giving an intro on machines, ending the session early, making an excuse to get a pen, being overall distracted and inauthentic. There was none of what is promised in the promotional material: flexibility, strength testing or charts on body balance. They just ran through their preconceived programme, only reluctantly answering questions and basically telling me to copy other people's exercises. Then why did I need to pay for this session anyway? And why is it mandatory?! I cannot in good faith recommend this club to anyone, although some trainers are lovely, it's way too expensive to have such a hit-or-miss ratio on both staff and facilities. Also customer service boils down to: They only care not to be sued, they don't care about you at all as a customer.

The bottom line: Do yourself a favour and choose a different gym. The full version: I have a regional membership for the Berlin area so I've visited this club only a couple of times when I came with a friend that has Urban Sports Club and almost evrytime we were there it was a disappointment. First, half of the showers in the men's locker room is out of service for more than a year. The showers that do work have the water running for about 6 seconds before you have to hit the button again, which makes it very annoying to take a shower. The saunas in the pool area do not work either. However, the worst part is the service. As I said I have a regional membership, so when I came to work out I asked the woman at the reception to change the small towel for a big one (like I do in other clubs). She was extremely rude and seemed very annoyed while saying that I can't ask to change the towels. I tried to tell her that it was never an issue, but she kept arguing and talking impolitely. It is my opinion that even if the client is asking for something that you presumably can't do, there is a certain way, a polite one, in which you can reply, especially in a club that markets itself as a premium one. I did not ask for any extras, just to replace the small towel (sorry that I want to use a clean towel after a shower and not the dirty one that I used in the sauna) to a bigger one and expected that the almost 80 euros I pay every month would be enough to accommodate this request. However, as it turns out, the 80 euros are not enough. When I was about to leave I asked the guy at the reception for the name of the rude lady and it turned out that he is the manager. After explaning the situation his suggestion to me was to pay extra money to rent another towel every time I come (again I didn't ask for a third, just to replace the small one). At least he explained it politely and respectfully in contrast to his colleague. I would probably not complain about those things if it was a 30 euro gym. However for almost 80 euros, I think the customers deserve more than this club has to offer and definitely a less ignorant staff. So if you expect to get a good and polite service, and functioning facilites for the 70-100 euros you are paying, that is definitly not the place to go. I would strongly recommend to look for another gym. It is important to note that this club does not represnt all HP clubs in Berlin. Holme Place have some great clubs such as Gendarmenmarkt and Potsdamer platz which have a very friendly and helpful staff and well maintained facilities. If you want a premium expirence, opt in for one of those and forget about the Schlossstrasse club. And please save me the let's get in touch comment (your manager already suggested that the only solution is to pay more) and instead just explain to your staff that in an international gym brand the people who work with clients cannot talk to them however they want and they should be nice and polite even if it is fake.

I have been a guest in this studio for a year now and unfortunately it has become increasingly dismantled. The steam sauna has never worked. Guests leave their dirty towels everywhere. Two water dispensers became one and became a vending machine that only dispenses drinks for members, even if you pay the same monthly amount at Urban Sports. And I don’t even want to talk about the shower situation. A pity.

I really enjoy going to the studio in Steglitz, especially because the employees are really nice and there is a family feeling. But the smell in the shower, toilet and sauna area is really bad. I've never experienced it smelling fresh. Most of the time you want to get out quickly after the sauna... That's such a shame, because what's on offer on site is really great!

The showers were what I appreciated most about Holmes Place so far. There were individual cabins with doors. Now that is a thing of the past. I don't understand why the doors are simply removed, it makes me very unhappy

Overall good, cleanliness top, appliances 4/5 Sauna area 3/5 Rest area 4/5 Smell 2/5, somehow it smells like urine or 3 months of unwashed washcloths in many corners. For a luxury chain I expect a little more. Edit: The owner responded to this and has the problem in mind. I wasn't there anymore, but that sounds credible. The rest of the gym underlines the commitment.

It’s an okay-ish studio overall but in my view, it’s not as good as its promises to be. They wanna offer premium quality but they really fall short when it comes to details: * some fitness machines aren’t connected to the internet * most machines with LCD displays have permanently flat batteries, so you cannot take advantage of them * treadmills are so old that the “iphone connector” isn’t even lightning (it was first introduced 10 over years ago) * I wasn’t able to find a single machine with integrated with Apple GymKit, which is out since 5 years already * showers don’t always smell pleasantly and their ceilings and air vents are in horrible condition * some showers only pour the water for two or three seconds after turning them on, some only work while you keep the button pressed * sometimes there is no shower gel in the dispensers * i was told that egym is only available for their own members, so if you’re coming here with some sort of a subscription (like urban sports club) you won’t be able to use it * they offer complementary shampoo but no conditioner * they are only emptying the towel bins when they’re really overfilled, which gives an impression of an overall mess in the changing rooms But on the bright side: * the staff in the reception is nice and helpful * they offer complementary towels So overall - mediocre at its best, especially when compared to other HP venues in Berlin.

I'm a user of the fitness area. The positive points I found so far are the air conditioning in summer and the parking. The machines are (almost) last generation which is also a good point. The ratio of guests from other genders is also quite proportional compared to other gyms. Negative points are: the concept for the machine layout is VERY deficient and badly designed. Some machines are too redundant like leg extensions and back/rowing. There's a huge lack of cable and plate loaded machines. Free weights are also not enough. A second negative point is how full the gym can get in the evenings. I also found disturbing how dark the gym is illuminated in the evenings, that's having a tiring effect especially after a long day at work in winter.

Decent gym. One of the better ones in Berlin. Currently the spa area is partially under construction but overall it’s clean and located well inside the shopping mall. I dislike the fact that the free weight section is very small and some essential equipment machines are missing like decline bench (they have only one) same goes for cable flies. In addition, lower back machines are missing too. They are also very tight with the towel service. But I guess it’s more of a company policy rather than this location itself

I'm still looking for that certain something that justifies the price. Yes, there are some saunas to operate. The training area is very small for me. The course rooms are okay. The men's shower has been undergoing renovations for months. The sauna area is often mopped. The service is okay, nothing bad, but nothing that other clubs don't offer. The audience depends on the time of day.

In theory a nice and spacious gym. Been going there for 2 years. Unfortunately they underspent in maintenance, so there is regularly mold in the showers. And every half a year there is a long construction on something because it was poorly built in the first place. Sauna area was in use for like 3 months and afterwards half of it needed to be re-done. Overcrowded in the evenings. First time with an (overpriced) holmes place contract only being able to assess this Holmes Place gym. Switched to Urban Sports and can visit now most of them for the same price + all other sport activities on Urban Sports

Just had to take legal actions to end my membership. Because of my critical condition i can't use the Fitnessstudio anymore. Even though i sent them a medical report stating that i have a risk of paralysis, they told me that i can get better with therapy and should continue. I was never treated this way before. It is a big dissapointment that such a sport facility like this exists in Germany. Edit: for the people wondering, he still didn't contact me.

The Holmes Place in Steglitz does not do justice to its premium level marketing and comparatively high prices. Construction site for over a year, defective doors in the showers are not repaired but rather removed and not replaced. A broken water dispenser in the fitness area has been out of service for months. It won't be repaired, just shut down. Housekeeping does not take place in this branch. References to missing accessories, such as dumbbell bars or small carabiner hooks, are reluctantly acknowledged but not processed. There is only a second star because the fitness equipment is generally quite new and in good condition.

Update: Since I last posted, everything has improved 🙏 The staff have become friendly and the cleanliness is also a lot better :) The gym is sold as "premium" but isn't at all. The staff always have a bad attitude and are never polite or friendly. They have a vibe of "we are too cool to be nice". After months of showers being under maintenance, the new ones are a complete disappointment. There isn't a shower with a single door and the cleanliness isn't as expected. The women only sauna is a plus, but that is it.

My locker stopped working. In order to get my stuff I asked another member of the gym to help me to get staff and no one came. Then I had to go half naked through the whole gym to ask the staff to help me. After waiting for some time I asked my friends to go get someone and finally a member of staff helped. It just shows how “important” your time is for them. Absolutely appalling.

In comparison to other HP, the Steglitz unity is not the nicest. Since a couple of years, there is no moment I went to this unity when all ameneties were working. Either the whirlpool was closed, or the sauna was not working. Now not even the showers in the women area are working (they will remain closed for weeks). Another BIG problem is that the windows do not open and the air conditioning is non existent. That means a VERY smelly gym, which makes unberable to train. Staff could have some service training too, not the most friendly either, specially not if you are not a "member" and use gympass, for example.

It's an alright gym. Good spa area, a bit over air-conditioned. Urban Sports Club members have to pay for towels depending on the staff. Quite inconvenient if you didn't bring enough towels.

Generally, I can recommend Holmes Place. Whether or not it is worth the money mainly depends on how frequently you make use of your membership, in my opinion. The pool seems to be less than 25 meters, maybe 20 m? Too bad my fitness watch only knows standardized pool lengths... if at all possible, you should come to swim when few people visit, e.g. right at 7 am or after 8 pm. I know it can be difficult, but these are the times when you can get the best workouts! I personally always hate having to interrupt my workout because someone is blocking whatever I want to, so I try to avoid the very crowded times. Also, paying more for a Holmes Place membership helps reduce waiting time because less people are willing to spend that kind of money. The equipment generally seems to be of a high quality and is safe to use. It may sound strange having to say this, but there are clubs out there with dangerous work out equipment! Would be cool if the bikes, treadmills, etc. would be able to connect to my garmin watch and transmit power, cadence, pace, etc. without needing a phone plus app.

I had a contract for only three months. I was surprised that they continued deducting money after the three months. I went there and I was told that the contract renews again for automatically and I need to cancel it. The whole purpose of having a limited contract is not to make it unlimited! I spoke with the team and they were not helpful nor professional. I don’t recommend this gym at all.

My husband and I stayed at Holmes Place Steglitz on Sun. Unfortunately, this day seems to be coveted by others too. Far too few loungers and seating options. All the guests were constantly looking. In addition, the showers simply weren't enough for so many people, so we had to wait after the sauna. The three saunas are also far too small for this crowd; sometimes we sat too close together. I also found the relaxation room simply not suitable for relaxing, you could constantly hear the other guests talking and the door, I think it was the one for the women, slammed very loudly. So, for €29 I can get much better somewhere else. I will never go there again.

I've been going to this club for a long time and have actually had a lot of positive experiences. The situation with the constant construction site wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. A few days ago I was there again and unfortunately learned that respect and decency are no longer a given. As usual, I had to give a deposit for the card and, as always, I left my key ring. When I wanted to check out, it was lost because one of the employees unfortunately gave it to the wrong person. No apology, no suggestion to resolve the situation or any other accommodation. Only the absurdly stupid question as to whether I would need my key ring. I was offered various other keys (including for cars) that I could have easily taken with me. Even the club manager never apologized and tried to help me out of the situation. The promised email confirming the process never arrived. Luckily the keys were found and I was allowed to pick them up the next day (!). The guy who gave it to me after I described the process also seemed rather annoyed. This incident really offers some opportunities to improve yourself and most importantly, deal better with customers. Especially in a club that wants to be high quality.

I don't think I had a single training session where at least one piece of equipment wasn't broken or out of order. The showers and cabins have been a permanent construction site for what feels like two years. It stinks, it's almost always dirty and I'm not exaggerating when I say that it's one of the worst studios in Berlin. I won't even mention the membership fee because in terms of price/performance ratio it really couldn't get any worse. The only thing that works there is the towel flat. Anyone who registers there has absolutely lost control of their life.

I've been a member there for some time and can recommend the place, albeit with a few caveats. First the good aspects: 1. Above all, their staff are great. Both the admin people and the trainers impressed me by their competence, swiftness and good cheer. Nothing of the dullness that continues to characterize at least parts of the service industry in Germany. Only as a side comment: I was impressed by the good command of English some of them show. 2. The equipment is (almost) state of the art both for cardio and strength exercises. They have a great variety of different machines so you have a good chance of finding the exact piece for your individual needs. They deserve praise for a recent rearrangement of the machinery, including the creation of a separate muscle area, which obviously was driven by the effort to accommodate members' requests. The sheer number of cardio equipment is particularly impressive. I personally prefer having a personal TV screen on my cardio equipment which they also provide, although the choice of channels is much limited to German channels. They recently lost BBC and didn't provide a replacement so that users from the English-speaking world are now thrown back to CNN only. 3. Another fine feature is the roof terrace. It's fairly big and has al fresco lounging furniture so you can enjoy whatever their fitness bar offers (and that's quite a lot) while sunbathing. A bit of a resort feeling in the middle of Berlin. 4. The towel service they provide also deserves special mention. It's really affordable, and makes your life so much easier. It's just too bad that quite a number of their users do lack the civility to put their used towels in the towel disposal, as they are requested, but simply leave them on the locker floor. There are a few downsides, too, but maybe not to every user: 5. While staff are great, there is a lamentable scarceness of them. In particular, the two-level layout creates problems. Admin people are on the upper floor, while the main gym hall is on the lower. There is a duty desk on the lower floor which usually should be manned by a duty officer, but in reality, it is a rule rather than an exception that nobody is around. So for whatever question you might have, you need to go up to the upper floor, which is tedious, letting alone that admin people not always will be comfortable to answer specific questions related to fitness. To me, this is a management issue, particularly as Holmes aspires to be an upscale outfit. 6. While the equipment is high quality, there is an atmosphere of disregard about it. I observed a bottle holder on one of them broken for more than half a year. Electronic displays often don't work. When they do, the figures are partly wrong, and you never are really sure about them. The USB slots on them, which should enable you to save your own personal training results and to which I was used to from gyms in Asia - well, the whole lot of them never have been put to use. 7. Sorry to say so: the WiFi is lousy. 8. There is club-style pop music in the main gym hall and heavy metal, heavy percussion on heavy volume in the separate course training rooms. Music there is so loud that course leaders need to holler at the top of their voice to be understood. What I consider inexcusable is the practice of leaving open the doors of the course training rooms intermittently while the heavy metal goes on on top volume. This blends with the pop music of the main gym hall to a cacophonous concoction which, to me, is pure hell. How on earth are you to concentrate on your exercise among such a din? I can't help believing that there is an element of numbness on the side of the decision-makers at HP, combined with a shyness on the side of the practicing members to complain - complaining about loud music, after all, is considered uncool in Germany no matter how bad the music is. Naturally, some may enjoy even this acoustic environment. My unauthoritative guess, though, is that they are a minority.

I have checked the following for you and offer my help. Ladies and Gentlemen. They are not affected by the sanctions package against Russia. They are allowed to continue building their steam sauna and also the shower facilities. I have friends at MIT, Who would like to carry out physical calculations for you. I would suggest they use normal electricity and stop researching fusion technology. I think the people are qualified enough. If there is a financial aspect to it, all members are welcome. A woman writes that Michael Schneider screamed today. I was up by the pool the whole time and no one screamed. Feel free to ask the other participants in the pool. No idea why something like that is written? Of course, Mr. Schneider is not a quiet person. Nevertheless correct and has been giving all courses there for 7 years. So you should probably speak to the trainer personally rather than spreading nonsense.

I've been going to this studio for almost 2 years now. Of course, I'm mostly happy with them. However, there is a very unfriendly trainer, Michael Schneider. He once yelled at me to leave the class because I was 5 minutes late. Today I hear him yelling at someone for closing the door. Because of this open door it is very loud on the upper floor and the relaxation area is not a relaxation area!!!!! Unacceptable.

I am extremely satisfied with the studio. All the members there are very respectful and it's a nice atmosphere. The service staff is very accommodating and always helpful. The studio constantly strives to stay up to date and to offer the highest possible service. I can only recommend

Great team of employees, the spa area is very clean and there is almost always enough space to train in the fitness area. You can also charge your cell phone wirelessly on some devices, which is super practical. I really, really enjoy coming here.

The fitness studio has more than sufficient equipment and accessories. The courses are great and strenuous, as I like them to be, and a variety of courses are offered if you want to try them out. A special plus point is a small but nice relaxation room in the wellness area. In summer you can even relax on the roof terrace. The only deduction is that the lighting conditions in the outdoor athletic area are too dark for me. In my opinion, it could be made more inviting so that I would feel more comfortable during free training.

Enough treadmill and bicycle machines. Sauna and swimming pool are big and nice. Free weight zone is usually full from the late afternoon to the evening. Shower room also full and sometime it has only cold water.

Enjoying my time at this gym very much - space for me to work on the laptop, grab a healthy lunch, workout and sauna. I wish they had lifestyle centers like this back home in Melbourne.

This is a cool place to be, although it can get a bit crowded sometimes. However, the swimming pool is a very relaxing spot to unwind after a hard workout. Overall, it's a great place to be for those who want to take a dip and chill out.

Amazing fitnessstudio, I really enjoyed training here! They have a pool and multiple saunas which is great for exercising and regenerating after. They have a wide variety of equipment and you can also enjoy views of the Schloßstraße😎 It might be a little pricey in general, but the rendition of services is worth the money😊

My favourite gym in Berlin! Nicer than the other Holmes places in Berlin too because the indoor swimming pool is longer and has loads of natural light coming in through a partial glass ceiling. The installation for Calisthenics are above average. And the Saunas (3 of them) are spacious! The crowd is diverse and it feels like a safe place to be yourself, the lockers work with a fob, which is much nicer than having to use a padlock and safer than entering a 4 digit code in front of other people. Love the place, it also have plenty outdoor activity :)

Medium size gym, steam room was broken at the time of the visit (08/01/23), spa was okay-ish, nothing special. Best thing was the large terrace. Must be beautiful to chill there in the spring/summer. Staff was HP-standard - nice and friendly.

Chris is a great manager and he is always there for people to address their concerns taking his time out however busy he might be. Spacious gym and well maintained. Ofcourse, one has to be respectful and follow the gym rules.

Unfortunately, the service from the house didn't want my membership fee to be debited on the 15th instead of the 1st because that has changed for me with my salary, they have been receiving it for 2 1/2 months and several phone calls and conversations, not being able to feed it into their system because that The head office has to pay a total of €30 because they can't manage to change what I think requires a click in the system, but they can't do that. The head office has to do it, which is located somewhere else. Well, let's see if that works when I personally I'll go there when I'm healthy again. Thank you Holmes Place for the service, which unfortunately goes beyond the provision of training rooms and a sauna and bathroom. It's a shame I expected more...
