An early step on my epic quest to find good South Indian food in Berlin...the one thing that stands out, is how heavy the candles are...really try it out. They are so heavy! Anyway back to the food,the vibes, the name - these are what I would call Utilitarian-Chill. There is a sign that does what signs do, there are tables and chairs and they work as expected, and then there is the food which also does the job and isn't trying to do much more than that. The Dosas are Dosa sized and that is nice. It is a place, it exists and much of its existence and aesthetic and prices can be ascribed to nature of the district you will find this in.

Most unauthentic Indian Food : Been to this restaurant after reading the reviews, but experienced the most unauthentic food & rude staff . Ordered "Samosa" which is a classic indian snack , costs 3.90€ for two pieces , each smaller than your index finger and stuffed with filling which is cold at the center. This happens when foods are made in large batches and stored in refrigerator and dropped into hot oil on order basis. The lamb biryani as advertised on the menu read "basmati" rice, anyway what we received could be compared to Khichdi which has the cheapest sticky rice not meant for biryani however widely used in southern india. Regarding thr mango lassi it can be said that regular water has better consistency than the lassi they served. Also the waiter imagined us to runaway with the menu card and was so eager to have it back that he came for it every 2 minutes. Please do not be fooled with their sweet outer behaviour to cover up the disgusting quality of food served.

Our new favourite Indian restaurant. The menu has both north and South Indian dishes. The dosa and utthapam both tasted amazing. A special mention to their seasonal cocktails (samadhi and Kaffee martini) which blew our minds. We had cocktails in different places in the world, but this one with a right touch of Indian ingredients was an absolute stunner.

One of my favourite places in Berlin for an Indian brunch. The brunch combo is really good and nice hospitality by the people there.

We stay in Dresden and have tried a lot of Indian restaurants here, Berlin, Prague etc and I can say without a shred of a doubt that the food at Lotus surpasses all other foods that we have tried- mainly because it has successfully managed to keep the authentic taste of North Indian and South Indian food dishes along with the taste element of it Finding the gun powder chatni with dosa was such a comforting moment! We were spoilt for choices and had Idli, dosa sambar, Medu Vada some chaat, mango lassi, and when our stomachs were full but heart wasn't, we took the paneer korma and naan as takeway. The naan remained soft even when had next day which was really impressive When in Berlin, Dont miss out on lotus indisches restaurant!
