I'd give this place 3.5 stars but in view of the exceptional service, I think 4 stars would be fair. I had their 7+1 course dinner menu which cost 55+6 Euros. Every dish was beautifully presented. The menu was also well crafted and drink choices were pentiful. Unfortunately, the taste was somewhat lacking. Taste profiles of the dishes were somewhat mild. I not sure what the reason could be. Perhaps the ingredients were not so fresh or not thoroughly marinated. Service was exceptional even though there was only 1 person tending the place. The space was also very clean and exquisitely decorated in japanese minimalism style including several ikabana-like flower displays and nori curtains. Price wise, 55+6 Euros for the quality is acceptable. For Berlin, its on the higher mid-range. Hope they work to improve on the qualify and taste profiles of their dishes.

What should I say. It was amazing. Simply great! Outstanding! I've never eaten such good Japanese food. And what an exceptional service. Just try to get an table and indulge a evening and enjoy a superb dinner. I don't have words for this experience, especially as I didn't expect anything like it. One has a set menu and can choose the main course. They have a corresponding Sake variety according to the single dishes. And have I mentioned the great personal service. Just great. Go there. What a value for your money. And I paid for the dinner myself 😅 no sponsorship here.

One of the best culinary experiences I’ve had in Berlin. I booked a table for dinner a month prior for my parents visit, and they said it was the highlight of their trip. Each dish of the 7-course set menu was exquisitely made, with amazing attention to detail. My parents chose the Sake pairing for an extra €49 pp, and they loved each pairing. The service was something special as well, and the waitresses kindly explained each dish, it’s ingredients, as well as the notes of the sake paired with every dish. If you are looking for an authentic Japanese dining experience in Berlin, or for something special, I would definitely recommend ichi.

An enjoyable dining experience. Authentic, generous portions, and the set lunches offer decent value for money. Need to book ahead of time, but the wait is well worth it ☀️🌳

This was an unforgettable experience. With every dish that came out of the kitchen, we got increasingly excited and we ended up in awe. The food is delicious, well thought through, beautifully presented and, most importantly, tastes wonderful. The meal is incredibly satisfying. The ambiance is lovely, it feels very intimate. Service is impeccable but warm at the same time. This is one of those establishments that I genuinely hope will stay the same over the course of time, as I would love to come back and experience it all over again.

Absolutely wonderful. Attentive service, great food, overall a fantastic experience of the Japanese culinary philosophy. I had the 7 course October menu, and was positively surprised to see how the chef could put so much efforts into the dish design, where all the ingredients contribute to create the autumn feeling of the season, and yet still appear so effortless and elegant. The menu started with a light sour taste soup based on plumes and salmon to stir up the appetite, and quickly developed into a small climax by the third course, the Obanzai, where I was presented with a plate of small Japanese dishes: a couple of marinated potatoes, roasted duck, turnips, salmon and bamboo shoots and avocado, before finishing with a seasoned rice with chestnuts and mushrooms, and a pumpkin pudding topped with azuki bean paste, a very strong ending with a long after taste. If anything, I kind of wish the seasoned rice could be stronger in taste, and the fried tuna before the rice also seemed slightly bland to me, but that may just be my personal bias. It could well be a bit tiresome if all dishes were equally strongly seasoned, so the chef decided to go this way. I will definitely come back next time I visit Berlin, and can only give いち my strongest recommendation as well as my whole-hearted gratitude for such a wonderful evening.

A sensational dinner, perfect for special occasions. We had the private dining room at no extra cost and it was so worth it! The food was fresh, tasty and perfectly timed. The setting is beautiful, relaxing and the team at ichi is lovely. Would recommend!

After living in Japan for a few years, we had high expectations and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere brought us back to the small Japanese restaurant, and their minimalist style. The food was great - we loved specially the sashimi, the agemono (fried fish) and the dessert - but what made it a great experience was the staff. They were very kind, attentive and helpful. They made a sushi kid plate for my son. We really enjoyed it, so we highly recommend this restaurant. The full experience took 3 hours….

I’ve booked this place for the birthday of my husband and it was the best decision for such a special day. It was not just a dinner but an experience in the heart of Berlin. The food was amazing and a very different from the classical Japanese options. We’ve really had a feeling that we are somewhere in Japan. The service was excellent and very kind. I could not be more happy with the place to celebrate the husband’s birthday! Thank you!

Great service, decoration and atmosphere. However the food is quite disappointing and for such food, we think it’s overpriced. The nice part of the expensive dinner is the German wine and dessert. However, like mentioned, the service from the waitress were flawless, which makes it quite a pity for the whole experience.

Had an anniversary dinner at Ichi, beautiful place, warm and welcoming staff, and exceptional level of cuisine. Couldn’t have chosen a better place for a special dinner. The Japanese setting and cuisine was astonishing, with the sashimi that took the spot for me. The freshest and tastiest raw tuna I’ve ever eaten. A place to definitely come back to! Be prepared to remove yous shoes at the entrance!

Real JAP experience🌸💮🏵️ Ichi is an authentic Jap, starting from its minimal entrance to taking off your shoes when you get in, to the big table where you sit to eat to the super kind service you receive...🎌🇯🇵🇯🇵 And for the food it's exactly the same! 🇯🇵 This is not a "sushi" restaurant this is a "real" japanese restaurant where there is no menu (unless for drinks) but an omakase (that changes through time) is waiting for you. The food is delicious ❤️ but raw fish will be a very little part of it!😊 In conclusion: the "place" is gorgeous🌹, the food amazing💥 so what are you waiting to make a reservation?🇯🇵 (It just makes me smile😊 that about Jap cuisine I really love everything except the "horrible"🙂 (sorry 😞, sorry 😔, sorry 😔) desserts and Ichi is no exception, just slightly better 🤗...)

The set menu is predominantly seafood and we added an additional sashimi course. I love the starter dish of vegetables, the tempura and the fried fish with basil tartar sauce. My favorite for the night was the deconstructed sushi, a variety of fishes layered on nigiri rolls with a mild sauce. The only minor negative was the cold dining room. The resultant could not make it any warmer and did not have enough indoor slippers (shoes were required to be off). Overall a great experience for the price. The space was uniquely traditional Japanese minimal and service was good. We will come back again in a warmer season.

Wonderful experience, 6-7 set course dinner over 3 hours. Menu changes monthly. Highlights were the beef and starters. I took off a Star because the sashimi was disappointing. 25€ add-on which was small and uninspiring (it was a regret). I would also choose the fried fish over fried chicken (chicken was less tasty). Generally though a good experience and we will eventually try it again. Expect 100€/pp.

Had a dinner last month there. The entrance is not very prominent, and the restaurant is at a Keller. When you enter, you are asked to take off your shoes and the seats are on the floor, giving the Japanese vibes. Foodwise everything is fresh, no strong seasoning or spices to outshine the original tastes of the ingredients, like the real Japanese cuisine. The favorite for me is the eel with rice. Sake pairing is excellent as well, and it’s a mind opener to see sakes are like wines, that there are so many different styles and tastes. Overall it’s a nice place to have in Berlin to enjoy quite authentic (personal opinion) Japanese food.

The best Japanese food I’ve had in Berlin. The food looks as good as it taste. Attentive service just makes the experience dining in even better. Reservations are required and I booked a little over a month ago.

The most delicious Japanese food I’ve ever had in Germany! We were lucky to get the spot after being on the waitlist. Every single dish was so flavorful and we loved how they used seasonal ingredients. We got very full after 7 courses plus one sashimi plate. The staffs were also very friendly and attentive. They were willing to answer the question about the food we had too. We are definitely coming back to try different menus!!

Service was good, friendly and explanation about food was good as well. Food was ok. I liked it most of dishes except the nanban chickens. It was hard and dry. And plating were cute. Price: this time was 69,-. I think it’s worth it. if they upgrade the chickens. Portion were generous, i needed to open my buttons. Just one tip. Its downstair(U.G) and need to take off your shoes. I went there with hills and no socks. It was bit too chilly for me. Ask blankets or wear socks..;)

Fantastic food and vibe. Lovely service and welcoming attitude. The food was delicious. The prices are expensive but as a "once in a while" experience it is totally worth it. Would definitely go to eat there again.

Fantastic authentic Japanese restaurant. It’s located on the basement level but has been nicely decorated with a cool Japanese vibe to it. Fantastic dinner and superb service. We went for the evening menu with 7 course including Sake parings. Definitely more pricey but worth it! Bookings are limited, so check out their website before hand.

Delicious food & friendly service. My friend and I had the unajuu (grilled eel over rice) and chicken nanban bento (fried chicken with tartar sauce). Both were wonderful -- the portions were generous and the pickled vegetables & fish that accompanied the main dishes were really tasty as well. Can't wait to go back!

The waitress was extremely friendly and made sure our special anniversary dinner was one to remember. Food was delicious and authentic and surprisingly filling unlike a portion of other upper class restaurants. Thanks for the experience!

It’s a top choice for those who have difficulties in choosing. The restaurant would provide monthly menus for every guests as well as their very welcoming service. And the food is fabulous and fresh. I love the salmon and tuna. But I would say the chicken is not impressive, it’s a bit normal, which taste like Korean crispy chicken (probably because of the similar flavor sauce). Highly recommend

If you want to try "real contemporary Japan" in Berlin, here is the one. Food quality and presentation are beautiful, of course, but the service is excellent, which is one of the best, even it were in Japan. As a Japanese living outside of Japan, I can imagine how challenging to make things "Japanese". Simply admirable. a small note: the portion is NOT Japanese; very much German (or US).
