A place of much historical significance and worth a walk across. Read about the many prisoner exchanges that occurred across this historic bridge.

The Glienicke Bridge connects Berlin with Potsdam. She gained particular fame through the exchange of agents during the division of Germany. The bridge is a nice starting point to a variety of excursion destinations. From the bridge you have a beautiful view of the Jungfernsee and over the Glienicke Lake to Babelsberg Castle.

Great place with interesting history. Very easy to reach with obvious means of transport. Very nice view and a good starting point, for example to Cecilienhof Palace with the beautiful park.

We were on the other side of the city, in Potsdam. Very quiet and idyllic location. There's probably more going on at the weekend, more pedestrians and cyclists, but it was very pleasant that way. With the exception of a few houses, everything has been renovated and renovated, and many new buildings have also been added. Maybe for many people the comparison is flawed and they say it was ages ago, but I find it wonderful every time I see beautiful buildings, whether old or new. In any case, Heiligensee and its sights such as Cecilienhof, Marmorpalais etc. are worth seeing.😊🌝

Amazing place to be! The Bridge has a rich history as it divided the West Berlin and the East Germany. While walking you will still a White Line of the Wall. Must visit place, there is also a way to go below the bridge I go there to relax with a book and some snack with me. There are some Palaces near by, which can be visited too.

The Glienicker Brücke, located in Potsdam, is a historic bridge that played a key role in Cold War espionage. It's also the setting for the popular film "Bridge of Spies," starring Tom Hanks. The local guides have had the pleasure of taking many visitors to see this iconic bridge. As we did during a tour during a pre-pandemic summer. My family and I were inspired by the history of the bridge and the role it played during the Cold War. Our tour guide provided us with a wealth of information about the spies who were exchanged on the bridge and the tensions that existed between the East and West. In addition to its role in espionage, the Glienicker Brücke is also significant as it marks the location of the former German division. Visitors can still see the line of the "wall" and imagine the guards that stood watch over it. Overall, I would highly recommend visiting the Glienicker Brücke if you're interested in Cold War history or simply want to see a beautiful bridge. It's a must-see attraction in Potsdam that is steeped in history and provides a fascinating glimpse into the tensions and conflicts of the past.

Nicknamed the "Bridge of Spies", Glienicker Bridge was the location of a border checkpoint between East Germany and West Berlin during the Cold War. A number of exchanges of captured spies occurred on the bridge. It has also been the setting of numerous films, including the 2015 Hollywood thriller "Bridge of Spies".

Who would have known, this bridge separates East and West and was a transfer point....the exact border can also be seen in the different colors of the bridge, but only at second glance....

What a point of history, just knowing how many died and how many were exchanged - the bridge of spies! We loved seeing the history

This unassuming bridge could look like just another bridge that you drove past. If you do not know its history. Given its importance as the venue for some famous spy exchanges during the cold war, this bridge inspired film makers like Spielberg and also resulted in the founding of the famous Spy Museum in Berlin. An ideal picnic spot during summer. Chill by the waters and walk to the castle. It is not a must visit. But once you are there, you'll not regret it.

Fascinating bridge of Cold War legend in a unique, picturesque setting. Visit it when touring Wannsee then watch Bridge of Spies.

Amazing bridge at the end of the tram line (Tram 93, terminus) in Potsdam, it spans the water border between Potsdam and Berlin, so was an important border when Berlin was divided. The bridge was damaged in the war and restored. It was used during the cold war to occasionally swap spies and featured in the Tom Hanks film, Bridge of spies. Lots of information boards on the bridge all about it’s history. Even if you are not interested in the history, its a nice walk over the water and you can watch people paddle boarding and going past on boats.

A must visit if you know the history or have seen the film Bridge of Spies. Worth a walk then on to the town of Potsdam Where you will find some fantastic shopping and eateries.

From there you can great view of the castle and other remarkable buildings. On a hot season it's common to see boats, which makes the scene even more pictoresque. If you have a camera with a good zoom, one tip for taking outstanding portraits is to go with the camera across the bridge road, while the person or subjects is located on the other side. When you do that, you will increase the side of the castle, which is far away from the bridge. You can always ask somebody to take a picture from you across the bridge. Have fun.

Glieniker Brücke - featured in many stories, novels and even a movie. The symbol of the cold war. Where East Germany (in the West) meets West Berlin (in the East of the bridge). If you are aware of the history, it is great to see that you can simply cross it by car, bicycle or walking. If not, it's just another bridge in the beautiful landscape of lakes and gardens in Potsdam.

Beautiful lake and views. And it felt important given recent history to savour freedom of movement at a place where it wasn’t once possible.

If you are a movie buff, you know why this bridge is famous. And if you are German, you already know the historical significance. Highly recommended for history lovers and as well as nature lovers.

Beautifull example of XIX century engineering + good bit of cold war history. That’s the famous „bridge of spies”

Historical bridge, famous for its spy swapping during the cold war. The are a number of boards explain the history of the bridge with old photos. Nearby are a number of Cafés/Museums/exhibitions

A very old long-distance path with the only narrow ford to cross the Havel has existed here for a long time. In the last centuries this strategically favorably situated place got a more diverse meaning and survived some warlike epochs often changed. With the bridge and collonades, there is now an intact ensemble of contemporary history right next to the lake and park.

The bridge is spies... It's a lot smaller, but equally as interesting when you cross it yourself. It's fun to imagine walking from the East side where all the nice decorative pieces and the wall crossed, to your freedom in the West.

Glienicke Bridge! I love this bridge because it is very close to my house, that is why I am saying this: Glienicke Bridge needs a makeover! It's neglected! If was in France, it would be decorated with boxes of flowers to celebrate its rich history, and we all know the history! This is the Spy Bridge! It's so famous they made a movie about it.
