Iโ€™ve been practicing with Tom for the last eighteen months โ€“ ever since he started teaching in Berlin. What I like about him is that he is absolutely sincere about traditional Ashtanga. Tom creates a highly mindful, kind atmosphere and teaches each student individually with focus on what he/she needs right now. I have seen complete beginners finding their way into the practice, but also experienced Ashtangis making this their yoga โ€žhomeโ€œ โ€“ and everything in between. Over time a nice small community has formed โ€“ with occasional gatherings for breakfast after the practice. I can highly recommend dropping in for an early morning spent in silence, breath and sweat โ€“ and seeing what it does for you.

One of the best places in Berlin to practice traditional Ashtanga Yoga in a safe and effective manner. Tom is a very experienced practitioner and teacher and knows how to guide his students to the next level. The studio space is a quiet oasis right in the city center of Berlin.

I have been coming to this studio since 2019. The studio has a really strong community - people who go there regularly. We all know each other by name. After practice, you can stay and drink tea and talk with the others who finish their practice at the same time as you. This makes the studio really warm and welcoming: itโ€™s not anonymous fitness club where you come and go and nobody would miss you if you are gone :) But the heart of the studio is of course the teacher. Tom is there every day. He is a very good and knowledgeable teacher, kind and patient. He has been practicing Ashtanga for 20 years. Different levels of practitioners come here. Some are very advanced, some are beginners. There is no judgment here and no competition.

After quite some years of different yoga experiences, I turned to Ashtanga in 2018 and are since then practicing with Tom on. He taught me from the beginning and supported me in building and keeping up what I feel, is a sustainable and solid practice and an important part of my daily life. I can highly recommend that journey. At Ashtanga Mitte thereโ€™s a great energy for a focused and committed practice. Tom teaches traditional Mysore Style and gives safe and skilful adjustments with a clear intention. Heโ€™s very kind, knowledgable and experienced and guides beginners as well as established practicioners in learning or diving deeper into their practice โ€“ tailored to their needs yet traditionally. The atmosphere in the practice room and outside is respectful, calm, warm and very personal. The studio is clean, with comfortable showers, changing rooms and provides a mat storage.

Tom is a very experienced teacher and very committed to the practice of yoga. Heยดs teaching in a traditional way (mysore style) following the lineage as he learned from his teachers. Is easy to feel safe under his guidance and he holds the space by bringing lots of focus into the room and a calm atmosphere. I highly recommend him for beginners or advance practitioners if you want to learn ashtanga yoga from a good teacher. The studio has a nice warm vibe with lots of space. Also easy to get there since is in the middle of the city very close to Ubahn station.

I've waited over a year to write a review, because I tend to get overly excited about new things that then turn out to not be so great. In this case, it's the opposite way around. I've had a pretty stable yoga and meditation practice already when I started practicing with Tom, and from day one I felt that there was a whole other quality to the practice as Tom teaches it. I'm deeply grateful for what Tom and Katharina built here, and for the friends I have found within the community. I can highly recommended Ashtanga Mysore Yoga (especially when it's taught in such a sincere way) to anyone who's curious. No matter what level, shape, size, age etc.

Ashtanga Mitte Berlin is one of the only few places in Berlin offering traditional Ashtanga Yoga. Tom is a highly experienced practitioner and teacher who guides his students safely and skillfully through advanced series but also knows how to teach the foundation of the practice to absolute beginners. If you are struggling to get your vinyasa right or wondering about the count, this is your place to go. The shala is a peaceful space right in the center of Berlin, wonderful place to make your practice into a moving meditation.

I've been in the shala during 3 months (almost everyday) in 2021. Tom is really kind and he teaches really well. I've seen the progress week after week. The community is really cool ! I'll miss this place ! I strongly recommend this shala ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Julien

Being able to practice at Ashtanga Mitte Berlin has been a blessing to me. I was looking for an experienced teacher that could teach me the depth of the ashtanga vinyasa yoga method, and i am very grateful to have found Tom and Katharina. Tom is a young and enthusiastic man that knows exactly what he is doing. Katharina is a calm and respectful, wise woman. What i found was new trust in myself and in this practice. I had to leave but i will be back very soon, i found teachers that i trust and that can teach me the method.

In 2019 after some months of consideration I decided to visit Ashtanga Mitte Berlin. What impressed me the most was the attitude of the teacher- Tom. He approached me right after I entered the room asking about my name and how long do I practice ashtanga vinyasa yoga. Such friendly and welcoming atmosphere encouraged me to stay and became a regular practitioner. Tom is very experienced; adjustments are always given individually based on advancement level of each person. Thanks to many years of individual practice Tom knows the struggles of many ashtanga students and knows how to motivate them to work on certain postures. The shala itself is warm and cozy. After your practice you can sit and enjoy a glass of tea and nice chat with other practitioners.
