The "lake" is a large bulge of the Spree and offers a charming sight. Both the Lichtenberg and Strahlau sides were an important industrial area until the end of the GDR. Today both banks are a sought-after, high-priced residential area. Nobody should swim here, because the lake bed and the water itself are heavily contaminated with heavy metals left behind by industry. A thorough renovation of the lakebed has so far failed due to the high costs. Numerous boats are anchored in the bay, some in large convoys, on which an unconventional life is tried out, which always leads to friction and conflicts with the well-off "land dwellers" in the condominiums.

A beautiful environment, a good place to jog, rollerblade or just take a walk... The surrounding area is clean and well maintained with a few exceptions... There are also a few nice cafes and restaurants and you can even find a small pedal boat rental... Parking options are also available, but on some days you need a bit of luck... The whole thing is also very easy to reach by public transport... We always enjoy coming here...😎🌴

Super nice for running, cycling or just going out in a canoe and relaxing. Here you can show visitors who don't come from Berlin one of our most beautiful corners.

Ideally, if Maria was next to me then it would probably be even better, but you can't have everything

Used as an anchorage for one night. At least it's an option very close to the center where you can always find a place. Certainly most of the contemporaries who lead their "alternative way of life" on rafts and near-wrecks are very nice and peaceful people - but my wife was still panicking about whether we would find our new boat the next morning in the same condition as in the evening ...

Really bad. I was anchored there years ago and it was a great idyll in the middle of the big city. The entire lake is now covered in old, frightening objects, so you have to zigzag outside the fairway. You feel like you're in a ship graveyard. Very, very bad.

This lake is so nice to visit in Spring-Summer especially for paddle boating and canoying.

In the middle of Berlin. At the Ostkreuz. Lots of peace and greenery. There is also a nice boat rental on the Zillepromenade “Ahoi Ostkreuz” kayaks, SUPs and pedal boats.

😐 The water is mossy and the forest floor is covered with glass shards and cigarette butts. This was once a pretty lake and soon turning into a over used and poorly maintained piece of land.
