Pilsner Urquell was the world's first pale lager, and was so popular that the German form of the town's name, Pilsner, became ubiquitous around the world, even being served by request to royalty. Today we were fortunate to not only tour the old brewery, but also the new, before a group of us were taken into the subterranean tunnels for more exploration and to sample it straight from the underground barrels. I'm a little bereft of adequate descriptors, so let's just say damnation. And btw one could totally vanish down there and no one would see you for a long time in those tunnels 🤣😇🫣 The brewery itself is not just a brewery. It's a whole town. The experience is educational, cohesive, expansive, they take you through time and history, before leaving you into the earth, guiding you through tunnels... Cold tunnels, for your barrel samples. You're going to love this. It's completely worth it and it's place is amazing.

Tour of the brewery well worth it. Tasting the natural authentic, original 1800’s unfiltered beer at the end of the tour was exceptional. It has to have been the best beer I have tasted. Full of yeast straight from the keg was unparalleled. Really nice to see the brewing process and how the factory imports old glasses and re-uses them before sending them back out for round 3,4,5,6 +

Great and interesting place. On the territory there is a separate building where you can buy good souvenirs. If you go to underground beer vaults, then be sure to take a sweater or something on top, as it is very, very cold there and in one T-shirt and shorts it will be very cold. You also need to arrive in advance so that at the box office you can print out a ticket if you bought it online. This is important as the tour guide only accepts physical tickets.

Really enjoyed my visit to the Pilsner Urquell Brewery. The guided tour (English), spanning nearly two hours, provided an immersive and informative experience. The highlight was undoubtedly the unfiltered, unpasteurized beer tasting, offering a unique and authentic flavor that heightened the overall enjoyment of the tour. The knowledgeable guides and engaging atmosphere made it a memorable visit. Highly recommended for beer enthusiasts seeking a true and immersive brewery experience.

As a Pilsner Urquell beer lover I really wanted to take a tour in this place and well, I must admit I expected more. Tour guide was lovely person but lot of the stuff was explained by videos which she kinda talk about already. But still it was interesting to see how they made beer back in a day and visit different rooms in this facility. In summer times be prepared to take something warmer than t-shirt if you take this tour, in cellars where you also taste unfiltered Urquell and spend quite a lot of time is cold 6-9C°. Also I would have skipped beer bottling tour, it was only available in Czech and you had to download app in order to listen it in English and you can only see it from corridor trough plexiglass.

It was a great way to spend the day at Pilsner Brewery. Getting to know the end to end process with their English guided tour, the tour guide was a really sweet and explained the whole process in a very detailed fashion. It was a nice experience to walk through the various rooms/areas of this brewery and exploring all brewing processes. Highly recommended incase you need a day trip from Prague which is reachable within an hour. PS: you can also explore the quaint little town of Pilsen.

I’ve done this tour twice and both times were amazing! Once in 2009 and second in 2023. The tour is very informative and takes you through the whole beer making process. Process hasn’t changed from the original method from 1842! The only thing I’d say is offer a bigger glass for the one complimentary beer you get in the cellar. For how much I paid for the tour, I was assuming we’d get a pint of beer. I recommend booking in advance. Beer was so tasty from the barrel!

Great tour of the different parts of the brewery. Tour lasts about 2 hours and finishes with a tasting in the cellars... definitely recommend. You can book tours online in different languages.

I did the English tour which was an iPhone app tagging along with a Czech tour. Really good experience. The cellars is the best but. The gift store is good too. Well worth a half days trip from Prague for example.

We took the tour and it was very nice and very recommended. Unfortunately they don't have enough English tours so we had to take the Czech one and use the Smart Guide app. It didn't work very well because the tour was faster than the time it took to listen to the app, and the biggest problem was when we went to the basement-rooms of the brewery, and didn't have Internet connection to use the app. I think they can at least put Wi-Fi there. Overall, the Smart Guide option isn't working very well, but the experience was good and the tour guide was very nice and the beers at the end are great. The souvenir shop is also cool and the prices aren't very high.

A wonderful experience of brewery visit and enjoying the fresh from barrel beer. A mixture of dark and wheat beer a something unique and worth a try to get the best taste of both.

It's a must go in Plzen. It's very interesting to learn how the Czech's beer is done in the factory. Also, in end of the tour they offer you a free beer, directly from the barrel (If I do remember well). By the way, Pilsner Urquell is my favourite beer in the world, especially the Nefiltrovany 12° 😉

Amazing experience for all beer lovers! I enjoyed learning everything about Pilsner from the early beginnings, and I certainly didn't mind a glass (read three) after the tour!

Very interesting place and special brewery vibe. On the territory, there is a separate building for souvenirs, and also a separate bar/restaurant. You have to buy a ticket for a specific time for a group tour. Also, multiple languages are available. In underground beer vaults, it's quite chilly so come prepared. Bring jacket or sweater with you. There you can taste fresh beer. As fresh as it gets, straight out of the wooden barrel. You also should arrive in advance. The territory is quite big. Give yourself a bit of time to find the right place, and go to the souvenir shop.

A fantastic brewery tour to see the birth place of the Pilsner. I was on a group tour with classmates during the week and we had a great guide. The unfiltered beer at the end of the tour was fantastic - I went pack for an extra pour.

Informative tour with a friendly guide that is not afraid to answer any questions. Visited many different areas of the brewery, including the cellars where we tried some beer straight from the barrels. Highly recommended tour!

it is a necessary visit of Plzen. Even if I don't like their beer. It's a very exhaustive tour, story, ingerdients, making of the beer, and eventually a free beer in some cold tunnels ...

We toured the brewery today and found it to be well organised, our guide was knowledgeable and kept the 2 groups in her charge all together. She answered everyone's questions with patience. The tour ended with a lovely glass of unfiltered and unpasteurized Pilsner beer and a trip to the souvenir shop. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and the lunch we had at the restaurant afterwards. Cheers

What a experience, witnessed the extraordinary journey of world famous beer Pilsner Urquell. The tour was very informative and interesting. Thankful to the Pilsner Urquell Brewery for this visit.

Very good tour visit on Beer Factory. The tour guide is very informative and let us know more how to make the beer and history of the factory.

Great tour and beer. Karin Anna provided a wonder tour. The glass of the unpasteurized and unfiltered beer was the best Pilsner Urquell we have ever had.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the brewery and I can see why it has received so many positive reviews. I opted for the English tour and gained a lot of insight into the beer-making process. It was fascinating to be able to see various sections of the factory and even try beer straight from the barrel. The gift shop was also a pleasant surprise. The only downside for me was the restaurant as the food seemed overcooked. Nonetheless, the Pilsner Urquell brewery is definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in seeing the plant and its operations firsthand

Knowledgeable, charming guide added to this excellent tour of not only the brewery itself but also of the underground storage cellars. The unpasteurised, unfiltered beer tasting was unique (won’t be rushing to try it again, but glad that I did taste it once.) I should note that I did not book in advance as I found the various options on the web-site (with multiple locations) somewhat confusing. The lass at the ticket counter was very helpful in organising a day of all the things I wanted to do. Actually, she was super-helpful. Kudos. Recommended.

Good tour of about two hours without getting boring. Only the very short 1min bus ride is a bit strange. Interesting to see both the old and new/current versions of some facilities. And of course nice to get beer at the end, straight from one of those huge wooden barrels in the cellar.

Kind of nice but I wonder whether it was worth. The reception staff wouldn't budge and our group of 16 had to wait over an hour. Got a good freelance guide though.

So to be honest. This wasn’t my first brewery tour. If you never done any tour before I’m sure you will enjoy it! For us personally it was a bit too commercial. Overall it is nice, they have different medial features and you get one beer in the end(which we all hoped would be more 😁) For us missing was the step bei step Introduction how beer is made and maybe to try the different steps, which we know from other tours. Also the tour guide was really nice, spoke well English, but sometimes struggled to answer questions. To sum up, nice tour, not enough beer, they wanted to make it look really good, but lost some of the “raw touchable” spark along the way.

Cool traditional brewery to visit in Pilsen. You will recieve information about the craft of brewing and the dedication and traditions that go with it. For €12,50 per person it's ok, but I would've expected more beer tasting than 1 small glass. During the tour you get the feeling that tradition and craft is more important than making money (for example the use of copper kettles instead of stainless steel), but that feeling completely disapears when you end in the gift shop with a very basic polo for €80, a decorated beermug for €32 and a jacket for €120. After the main tour we've also had the bottling plant tour. Tip: if you don't speak Czech, then don't bother booking it. Even though we've booked the main tour in English, the bottling plant tour is in Czech, is absurdly short and the viewing windows were very dirty. Tip for the venue: include the bottling tour in the main tours language and reduce the absurd prices of the giftshop.

A great attraction especially for beer lovers, but those for whom beer is an ordinary drink will also enjoy it. The guide was able to describe in detail the history of the brewery and also the process of making Pilsen-type beer, ending with a tasting of beer directly from a wooden barrel. For the price of 300czk, you get a really quality time spent.

  • 5/5 Andriy S. 1 year ago on Google
Unlike many other places with "intercative" (=pictures only) tour, they actually take through old bewery and cellars where they still brew some beer in the old fashioned way to compare quality of traditional process with what is being produced at bew site. Totally worth the money and great experience! The visit to the new bottling plant is quite average though - you see things from a distance and hard to figure out what is going on
