A brilliant experience to go to. We went at the end of December and it was obvious that the place wasn't as active as it would be in summer but despite this, it was still a very good and very informative experience. I really enjoyed learning about the people of Ulster and their experiences of moving to America in the 1800s and how they lives differed in the new world. The staff are clearly very passionate and knowledgeable and we're very happy to engage with the children and answer questions we had. Will definitely go again when we are next in the area.

Visited 03/01/2021 - booked online (gift aid tickets purchased to support) even though weather wasn’t great, the reception team and the indoor elements were great to start off the visit. Then three themes to visit from old world to the journey and then new world. We had a pram with us and I’d say 95% of the houses/buildings have accessible entrances if standard entrance has just steps. The volunteers/staff are super friendly and we even got treated to some fruit loaf and spiced pumpkin bread as we went around. The visitor centre also has a gift shop area and also a cafe area (a hint if you want a jacket potato they take 6 minutes each and can’t be done more than one at a time, cafe staff were busy and apologetic about wait) I would highly recommend the hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows. Definitely worth visiting ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolutely fantastic place when it's not Halloween but we also go every Halloween and the show they put on is brilliant, storytelling, cooking, talks, music and dancing , games for the kids and that's not including all the walking about visiting all the areas in the park , highly highly recommended, we all love it as a family from mum and dad to 16 Yr old 12yr old to 6 Yr old! If you've not been especially at Halloween you are missing out !

Visited in June 2023 and again in October. It was an amazing experience visiting the park, with friendly and helpful staff. Felt very authentic when you walked trough the hamlets and the different areas. Well worth a visit if you are in Northern Ireland. P.S A special thanks to Joanne for her assistance

Fascinating place packed with great indoor and outdoor displays depicting the life of early emigrants to the New World. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. A good family day out and educational activity for kids.

Without a doubt the best tourist attraction that we've been to as a family in NI. It's made by the staff and volunteers, they're so knowledgeable and helpful and you can really tell that they care. So much to see and do, we are members of NMNI as we live a few mins away from the Ulster Folk park but we can't wait to get back to the Ulster American folk park the next time we are in that direction. I really like that it takes you on a journey of the Mellon family and It intrigued me so much, that after a lot of online scouring, I found and bought "The Judge" to learn more about their story.

Excellent day out, very easy to get to and extremely helpful staff. Lots to see and do and all the houses have someone in them to give you lots of information about the history. Called into the old style shop and met by an extremely friendly and very upbeat man serving and he was so welcoming and also very funny. We went to the saddlery shop and the very kind man working in it gave a leather bracelet to my son which was just lovely. I would highly recommend this place to everyone, we had a fantastic day out. We had not booked tickets but this did not matter as we still got in very quickly and didn't have to queue.

Amazing, underrated and brilliantly organised tourist attraction in the heart of the North. You have freedom to explore and experience the life in Ireland's past, walking around the fantastic site with athentic buildings and even chat to some friendly actors who make you feel like you really are in another world. One of the very best things to see in Northern Ireland.

What a fantastic experience. Myself and my wife were deciding what to do on the filler days between Christmas and New Year and decided to come down to visit as it’s been a GOOD number of years since my first visit. It was fantastic, really enjoyed the walk around, the interactions with the actors and the history and learning of it all. Would highly recommend.

The Park is a great place to visit anytime but it was actually magical during the Santa Experience. Old Tymey Fun mixed with Christmas Magic & some delightful Elves to meet along the way. Santa was so fabulous, jolly, kind, providing a unique experience for each individual kid/family. Mince Pies, Warm Drinks, Christmas Crafts, Visiting the Toy Maker, Storytelling, Meeting Santa - all topped off by a carriage ride! We’ll done to the park & staff for providing so a wonderful experience for adults & children alike.

What a fascinating place to visit. A very well set out and informative museum to start off with and then you head off out back in time into the old buildings to soak up the history and atmosphere of times gone by. Both kids and adults will enjoy here. Plenty of picnic spots and the staff/cast are all really lovely and helpful.

Took a friend, on her first visit to Ulster and my return to the folk park in some years. Nice exhibition on Irish Dance. The house and walking through time was interesting and the staff around site were very knowledgeable, friendly and even offered us cake!

Visit to Santa for 2023 was superb. Even in the rain, the elves were great fun, kept the children engaged and there were a few brilliant surprises along the way, which I don’t want to share as I had as much fun as the kids. My wee ones are 5 and almost 11, so a tricky age to please both but they loved it. The price was almost half of what many other venues were charging, so it was affordable and still over 2 hours of fun with high quality gifts and a super Santa, elves and helpers. Definitely be back next year.

Quite informative and the staff in period costumes are very good at acting the part and answering all questions. Great for local kids or from abroad, lots of info even in just the inside area if its rainy or cant be bothered with the houses

Excellent place to go..full of local history and history from across the Atlantic..well laid out and easy to follow. The houses contain live displays which give you an authentic feel to how people lived and survived. Stories of local people are followed through with their emigration to American and how they got on in the USA

Often overlooked by tourists I talk to in Ireland, this is especially important to Americans I feel who are tracing their roots in the island. I have visited many times since I was a child and it gets better and better as the park expands both in the old world of Ireland, the ship set to America and then the ‘new world’. I visited here once on the 4th of July one weekend. Though there seemed to be a little confusion in what was the 4th of July actually about, (not native Americans fighting the red coats as one reenactment portrayed) the fun and energy about was brilliant. Whether it’s the 4th of July or not, you’ll learn something at this fantastic place. ???

Prepare yourself for an adventure in time. The Ulster American Folk Park really brings history alive and makes it fun and educational for everyone. p.s. It's best to go on a dry day, as much of the park is located outdoors.

A fantastic experience. Cannot recommend highly enough. Very reasonably priced and well-maintained. A credit to those who work hard in the upkeep of the park 👏🏼 a really informative and atmospheric journey taking visitors from the Old World to the discoveries of the New World. Thank you - we had a day to remember ☺️ P.s. very refreshing to not have to book tickets in advance or have an allocated time slot!! Warm and friendly staff available to take payment and give tickets on the day 🧡

Great day out for the family, most of the paths and houses are wheelchair and buggy accessible. The buildings were interesting to see in and there was guides in a few of them talking and demonstrating life as it would of been. Give yourself plenty of time as there is plenty to see and do.

Booked 4th July event on line and received an email stating that we had to be at the park for 09.00. We live around 2 hours drive away and after a very early morning start arrived at the park at 8.45 to learn that the park didn't actually open until 10am. We had visited the park about 9 years ago and as it was my daughters Birthday on the 4th July I thought it would be a good birthday treat. I was disappointed to see that the park hadn't really been updated from our previous visit. Enjoyed the initial visit but not a park I would revisit again.

Brilliant day out. Every member of staff was friendly and engaging. Those dressed up had no problem answering questions and telling the story about the building they were in. It was a very wet day but this added to the theme of the park and it all felt a bit more real. The photographic emporium was fantastic fun.

Ulster American Folk Park opened again today. Make sure you book, as it's really busy! Very well laid out....one way system.Hand sanitizer is provided at different stations on the route. You have to stay in your family group and socially distance whilst in the houses. Highly recommend for a great and informative family day out.

Absolutely brilliant. One of the best museums we have visited. The history of the emigrants from northern ireland to america is brought closer to you with the help of stories about the individual, mostly faithfully reconstructed houses from that time. It never gets boring.

We stopped there for a quick lunch and the surprise was finding out that we paid 7 pounds for a baked potatoe! The prices for the main meals weren't bad,but there was no price shown for that. My boyfriend didn't stop complaining until Derry?

The best !! Interactive Vs live history experience at top level. Highly interesting. The best museum I visited. Great idea and concept. Everyone needs to try it and should be compulsory for every school tour. Huge value for money! My kids loved it. To be able to relive it and ask questions at each stop is amazing and far from boring. Can't recommend enough!

One of the best "museum village" I have ever being! well kept by local Council and there are one of the best tourist attraction with it's seasonal festivals that is organising and the nice souvenir shops and many hundreds thousands maybe visiting each year includes regional schools and colleges and other charitable organisations or other community cultural athletic or different educational background communities and groups .

Wonderful place! It's quite like St Fagans National History Museum in Wales, except the Ulster American Folk Park walks you through the stories behind the history in a chronological order from what drove people to emigrate to what they faced in the USA if they survived the voyage across the ocean. Well worth the visit, fantastic customer service, friendly staff, great facilities.

(Translated by Google) One pass, we loved it. You can spend the whole day there, talking with the actors of the houses, taking pictures ... the recreations of the villages and the houses are magnificent, in detail, also the clothes. You get into the reality of the Irish of those times and you understand their history. To go with children is a phenomenon, they can learn a lot and it is very stimulating to be able to talk with the characters and ask them about their lives. It is very well priced, there is an exhibition, parking, bathrooms and shop. Very highly recommended.

Been here many a time. You never get bored here. An amazing historic collection of life in Ireland in the 1800's and the mass migration to America. Told by story tellers dressed in very old style linens and wools, who reinact the old traditional way of life, like baking tasty soda bread on the range at the fire in one cottage, in the next cottage blacksmithing, textiles and other industries, in the various styles of thatched cottages and log cabins along the paths. Its a large area to walk around with so much to see at every turn, maps are provided at entrance. I particularly love the smells in the cottages, smells of oldness/ antique & burning logs. Entry for 3 adults & 1 child £25.. We didn't eat here, they had stopped selling hot food at 2:30, sandwiches and tea/coffee, juice was all we could purchase at that time.

  • 4/5 Liam K. 4 years ago on Google
Lovely visit around the Folk Park. It's got a number of traditional dwellings for an insight into past living. Set in some nice grounds. Best part was the interactive nature of some of the characters. Blacksmith / seamstress etc. They would happily talk while in character and give a fascinating view of days gone by. Thoroughly enjoyable family day out.
