I haven’t been to the MFA since 2010, so I was excited to go. We went on a Sunday of a holiday weekend and got there a little after opening. If you don’t mind holding your coat, you can skip the long coat check line. I recommend checking out the Asian and Middle Eastern galleries on the first floor before going upstairs as these galleries are far less crowded and you can meander through, not to mention of course, the beautiful art. We read most of the descriptions before heading upstairs. The impressionist wing was packed - elbow-to-elbow and yes, people are required to wear masks, but who wants to read a description with someone right at their hip? There’s no flash photography. I enjoyed the Monet gallery very much, which was also packed. Backpacks are allowed and there’s parking $$. I opted to take the commuter rail in so I could be car free. It was a lovely experience and I know I’ll be back. ❤️

Huge art museum with an array of styles. Came here during the first weekend of the month, as they participate in Bank of America’s Museums on Us, so we got free entry as a result of being cardholders. There is public transportation line with the museum as a stop, but it also was a nice walk to get here from our hotel. Masks were recommended but not required. There is a cafe inside if you need food. You can easily spend an entire day here looking through all the exhibits. We spent an afternoon until the museum closed at 5, and I wish we were able to spend more time. No flash photography. There were water bottle refilling stations by restrooms. Coat check is available. You’re in for a good time here.

This is an incredible museum. They've got such an extensive collection of artwork and historical pieces. This week they had Obama art. I recommend you go on a weekday, there is far less people. You might need more than 1 day to see all the art galleries. Lots of walking. They do have a restaurant inside the art museum and a cafe by the Garden.

Enjoyed the John Singer Sargent exhibition. Very crowded. The audio recording only featured six descriptions of specific paintings and textiles. A more expensive audio guide would be appreciated. The audio guide app was easy to load to my phone and did enhance the experience. I also spent some time looking at furniture in the MFA collection.

Exploring the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in Boston was a truly enriching experience that exceeded my expectations. The museum's extensive collection spans centuries and continents, offering a diverse array of artistic treasures. What drew me in, in particular, was the captivating world of the Asian exhibits. Wandering through the halls dedicated to Asian art felt like embarking on a cultural journey. The carefully curated pieces showcased the beauty, history, and intricate craftsmanship of Asian cultures. From stunning traditional paintings to awe-inspiring sculptures, the collection truly captured the essence of the rich artistic traditions of Asia. The MFA's commitment to providing a comprehensive narrative shone through in the way each exhibit was thoughtfully arranged. The detailed descriptions and historical context provided a deeper understanding of the pieces, turning each visit into a fascinating exploration. The museum's ambiance enhanced the overall experience, with well-lit and spacious galleries that allowed for contemplation and appreciation. The staff's passion and knowledge were evident, contributing to a welcoming and educational atmosphere. Visiting the MFA is not just a trip to a museum; it's a cultural immersion that transports you across time and space. Whether you're an art enthusiast or someone seeking to broaden your cultural horizons, the MFA in Boston, especially its Asian exhibits, is a must-visit destination that promises a truly memorable and enriching experience.

Loved my visit! Only had about two hours to spare, but Guest Services was immensely helpful in curating my self-tour to make sure I got to see the highlights and get the most out of my experience. Loved the variety of exhibits, the staff, and the architecture of the museum itself. Will definitely come back the next time I’m in town!

This is an absolutely fantastic museum to visit! It really is huge (even a day's not really enough) and is filled with little rooms, corridors, and nooks of artwork. Broadly split into American, European, and Ancient Art (and most other things too- I'd recommend the musical instrument room!), there are maps everywhere as well showing roughly where you are as well as an app too to give you a bit more depth on the artwork. I think everyone has their favourite section- I really like the recreated rooms from lost mansions in the New England area- and they have good examples from major artists such as Monet, Degas, and Copley. They do great exhibitions- the current one is on Sargent and costume and was fantastic! So interesting to see the clothing worn in such famous portraits! There are also a lot of his paintings from private collections too that you may not have seen so worth going to if you're a fan! Not surprisingly, it does get busy but I think it absorbs the numbers well and you can always find a quiet spot away from the crowds. The downstairs Garden Cafeteria is a good spot to get lunch and there's also the atrium restaurant too (this one does get busy, usually a queue!). There's multiple shops dotted around too with an exhibit one, a small one by the entrance and then a larger Main Shop. If you're into books- the main shop is great for them and they're very diverse, not just art!

If it had not one work of art within its walls, this museum is a beautiful work of art in and of itself. The experience was similar to that of being at the Smithsonian without the crowds and the field trips. I could spend a week here. There is a great restaurant in house and 2 gift shops. Would recommend the app for a self guided tour and if you're visiting Boston, buy a city pass that includes the admission to this and other worthy attractions. There is a separate cost for special/traveling exhibitions.

The MFA is a great museum that has a varied selection of pieces and works. If you like Egyptian art, they have mummies. You like Roman statues, your in luck, they have some too. You like the impressionists? They have masterpieces from Degas, Monet, Van Gogh and Picasso? Absolutely a must! It's a nice size that can be visited in a day. Staff was helpful too. We visit every time we go to Boston.

The Museum Of Fine Arts (MFA) was worth every cent! What a special surprise birthday gift from my fiance. The John Singer Sargent Exhibit was amazing! His paintings were/are so detailed, so clear as if the portraits of the people posing for his expertise painting session would have reached out or moved. Honestly his paintings are magnificent, just absolutely stunning! Each painting displayed was so large and placed in beautifully carved wooden frames with a plaque of a description. To think just how old each painting was truly set my mind into nostalgic mode. Honestly a will set you back and think before technology. I am still in awe!!! Also, the Cafe was delicious, plus musical entertainment with dancers and amazing Lime Green glass art by Dale Chihuly is next to the courtyard. I seriously didn't want to leave MFA, but we were there for 4 hours and had to move along to other plans. ⭐I highly recommend!

I’m so glad I was able to get through a few areas of the museum! The full explanation of the MFA may take a few trips to completely take in, I could have spent my whole day there in only 2 rooms of one area of the whole museum! So happy to have seen what I saw and also very excited to get back to continue to observe and learn more from the yet undiscovered areas! Thank you MFA!!

This is must when in Boston. Great and diverse collection of the finest arts. Some expositions are seasonal and we had the pleasure of the featuring of the Japanese Hokusai exhibit. At least three floors with global, Asian, African American, and American dedicated spaces. Fully recommend getting the tickets in advance to avoid 30minute to an hour lines. Enjoy!

Good place to get a glimpse of some of the actually weaponry that was used during the Nigerian civil war, given the significance of such a place in history, it's rather unfortunate that not much effort is put into preserving the historic artefacts. Weirdly so, they also have a "no photography allowed policy" -_- , don't ask me how I got my pictures.

To get a different feel then this area reflects and displays war relics, particularly Nigerian civil war, Here one can notice creativity and skill at local level. In such a short time frame most of the weapons were produced locally. with an area for both children and adult to unwind. even tho there was a decent tour guide, more work would need to be done "as usual with nigerian Centres", to preserve this historic place.

I'm usually not the most enthusiatic museum guest, but I really enjoyed this one. The Monet exhibit was amazing! At the museum back home they had a Monet Exhibit, but it was nothing compared to this one. I am really glad I picked up the ticket for it, a must see. There is plenty else worth seeing, I wish I had more time than I did. This is one of the nicest art museums I have visited, I would highly recommend going here if you are visiting!

The Hokusai exhibit was done well and interesting. Very comprehensive. The Egyptian was small but again very interesting with a little bit of everything. Guard on the first floor was very helpful guiding us to specific artists' works. He knew the museum well. This museum is worth a visit .

Larger than expected museum. Have relics from ancient Egypt as their main attraction. Back in early 1900’s they along with Harvard University were permitted by Egypt to unearth the Egyptian valley near Giza and out of that arrangement, they were allowed to take possession of a certain amount of their findings. This gallery is apparently the largest collection outside of Cairo.

The MFA is a must go. I’m assuming if you are looking at reviews you probably know this and you are really looking for information about parking and logistics. I got you. PARKING: there are MFA garages and parking lots that are on Museum Rd. Additionally there is street parking but it’s limited and you must pay unless it’s Sunday. All museum parking accommodations are expensive but offer quick accessibility to the museum. You can also park on Forsyth Way. I recommend going early in the morning if you want an easy street parking spot. Again, Sunday is free. Lastly the museum website has information about parking. All in all it’s not bad so don’t let that deter your visit. 2. TICKETS: I would recommend getting advanced tickets if you are seeing a special exhibit, additionally an advanced ticket is just an easier experience overall. Again, if you are seeing something special that costs more then plan in advance to get a ticket with a specific time. 3. IF YOU HAVE KIDS: the museum is kid friendly and I was surprised that they did not ask us to check backpacks or our stroller. There were many families with their young kids and the strollers did not seem to be a problem. Made our lives easier so I am assuming that the museum is pretty accessible for wheelchairs too. 4. Check out my photos to get a sense of the space. Loved our trip here and I will be back! Highly recommend.

In the central yard there is a restaurant with excellent food and service. I visited on Sunday. There was short waiting time online to get a ticket. Adult regular ticket cost $27.

A truly world-class museum. Extensive collection with a variety of periods on display. We were fortunate to visit during the Fashioned by Sargent exhibition. This is collection of John Singer Sargent portraits that feature the fashion choices of the period. The best part was the display of the actual dresses from the portraits. It is a nice juxtaposition of the artwork alongside the featured dress, allowing a close look at the choices the artist made in the portrait. I was so consumed by the installation that I forgot to take any photos.

I flew in from Virginia just to see the "Fashioned by Sargent" exhibit. Worth it. I went to the museum two days in a row and still felt like there was a lot more to see. My only complaint were the bathrooms were distanced far apart, and some rooms were very dimmly lit. But if you plan on going more than three times a year, it is worth it to buy the membership.

I visited the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston last week and I was amazed by the variety and quality of the artworks on display. The museum is one of the largest and most comprehensive in the world, with more than 500,000 works of art from different cultures and periods. The museum has a beautiful neoclassical building with a grand rotunda and a long façade of granite. It is located near the Back Bay Fens park, which adds to the scenic appeal of the area. The museum is easy to access by public transportation, and there are plenty of parking spaces nearby. The museum has something for everyone, from ancient Egyptian artifacts to contemporary paintings. I especially enjoyed the exhibitions on Strong Women in Renaissance Italy, Mondrian: Foundations, and Matthew Wong: The Realm of Appearances. The museum also has a great collection of Asian art, American art, and European art. The museum staff was very friendly and helpful, and the museum was well-organized and clean. The museum also has a gift shop, a café, and a restaurant for visitors to enjoy. The admission fee was reasonable, and there were discounts for students, seniors, and members. I highly recommend the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston to anyone who loves art and culture. It is a must-see attraction in Boston and a treasure for the world.

It’s been too long since I visited the museum and I’m so pleased that I went back. All things COVID considered, I felt comfortable with the number of people they allowed inside and the distance between parties. I really loved the interactive aspect. They’ve included audio with some of their art pieces. You can download their app and learn insightful details behind certain art pieces. I can’t wait to go back!

Nigeria's Amalgamation in 1914 joint several tribes together to form the country. The 3 major tribes are Igbo, hausa and yoruba. In the year 1966 some social ethnic on rest brought about the civil war and the declaration of the republic of biafra from May 1967 to 1970. The war museum in Umuahia provides insights to the machinery used by both sides and also is the location of one of the bunkers used by the biafrian solders. There is the outside galley show casing tanks, aircrafts and other war weapons. Here you can use your camera for stills The entrance fee is 200 per person and you get a guide to take you in. As usual cameras are not allowed inside and even though there was no power - the works turned on the generator so we could see inside the gallery

A National War museum at umuahia Abia State. Is a wonderful place for school excursion. At the Museum are the equipments used the civil war of 1967 to 1970 such as the boats, the Nigeria army jets, biafra army jets, the biafra radio, the Ojukwu bunker which was built underground, the army clothes. At the inner room the pictures of all the people that fought the war were displayed and their leaders. The hand equipments such as guns, matches, axes used during the war are kept at the inner room, also at the inner room is the pictures of all the event that went on from the beginning of the war to the end of it. Is a place where History of the civil war can be refreshed

Most of the arsenal used for the war were locally produced and within a short period too. It is good for kids and adults alike. There is a restaurant and also a play ground for children. Accessible entrance and parking and most of the the items on display are accessible by wheelchair.

I think it is an insult to the intelligent people of Kaduna to call this a National Museum. The only Gallery that is not privately owned or run that should be open and made accessible to all was closed. They said there was no power so the building is dark. Fine, okay, taking a walk in the compound was just like taking a walk in a miniature children recreational centre. Please, we can do better, please do. On the other hand, if you have some time to pass, you can stop by here. In less than 15 minutes you should be done

This had to be one of the best museums I've ever visited, the art collection is mind boggling, you can find at least one piece of art masters from different eras and countries. Their archeology collection is amazing, ranging from African cultures, to American, middle eastern, Asian and Egyptian. If you're in Boston, visit the museum, you'll be surprised. P.S. make sure to research if there is any special exhibitions, there vas a Monet/Rodin while I was visiting and it was amazing. Also, there is a very nice cafeteria and of the weather allows, make sure to have lunch outside in the garden, peaceful and serene.

I admire this museum and have been their member for years! Everything they do is at the worldclass level! The permanent collection is incredible and presented very well! Great temporary exhibitions! This time we visited "Claude Monet and Boston" and sculptures in the ancient Egypt. I got to see rare Monet's paintings that I only have seen in books. The presentation and set up was incredibly interesting and gave lots of information!

We spent two hours and may have covered 10% of the total museum. Every part of the world has their own uniquely curated exhibits. So much to see and take in. I don’t particularly care for paying additional to see any of the special exhibits (such as Monet) because I think you get your money’s worth with the general admission. Parking is unfortunately pretty expensive. I would recommend taking the train if possible. If you even have the slightest artistic inclinations, I recommend the museum! A truly memorable and visceral experience for me.

The MFA is one of my favorite museums in Boston. Students can get in for free with a student ID. My favorite exhibits are the contemporary art and ancient Egypt exhibits. This museum may take another visit to see everything. On my most recent visit, there was an exhibit designed by a local black artist. It was absolutely breathtaking. I would definitely recommend the MFA for anyone interested in art.

Fine . However I cannot say that it’s awesome , because in my point of view this museum deprived of some kind of life. I may suggest to add more guides for museum visitors . In this guides post some of the most popular art subjects and floor in which they are standing . Also , I would improve book store , because this museum is crucial and super popular in Boston and it doesn’t have a book about itself . I would make a book about history of this museum and about some important art subjects. Overall , if you are in Boston I would recommend you to go there.

This was actually my first time visiting a Museum and it was actually fun, I didn't get bored, and there was a lot to see and learn. It was a great experience, and maybe I missed some things here and there, but everything was perfectly placed. During my recent visit to the museum, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of time I spent there. What I thought would be a couple of hours turned into a captivating six-hour experience. The museum's size exceeded my expectations, with numerous rooms and exhibits to explore. The diverse range of art on display made the visit truly memorable. From traditional paintings to unconventional installations, there was something for every art lover. The museum's collection showcased unique and thought-provoking works that left a lasting impression. I thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in the various rooms and taking in the creativity and talent of the artists. Each exhibit had its own charm and captivated me in different ways. It was a testament to the museum's commitment to showcasing a wide range of artistic styles and mediums. Given the museum's size and the abundance of fascinating art, I would definitely consider returning in the future. It's a place where you can always discover something new and be inspired by the creativity on display. If you have a passion for art, I highly recommend paying a visit to this remarkable museum.

Nice museum, there are long paths going every which way, so you’ll need a handy map to keep track of where you are vs what you want to see. Although we saw everything, we intentionally went for the Hokusai exhibit which was cool. I didn’t expect his famous ‘great wave’ was the size it was. I’ll definitely go again to give it another go. Plenty of walking, standing, some stairs (but they probably have an elevator anywhere). You’ll have that theme-park soreness after walking this one.

Huge and fantastic museum. To really see the entire 3 floors, it is at least 4 to 6 hours but you can easily spend more time here. I saw the 1st and 2nd floor in about 4 hours and took my time at most and breezed through others. The Monet room is a must see as is the early American and renaissance art. Most of the contemporary modern art was disappointing except for some of the glass pieces and it showed as few patrons were studying in these rooms. If you are planning a trip to Boston, this should be on your list. There are very few places in the world with this much art with such variety.

Huge art museum with multiple cafes and a great collection of art from various time periods and geographic regions. Recommend you buy your tickets ahead of time. Could easily spend a day or more there looking at everything.

The Museum of Fine Arts was founded in 1870 and was initially located on the top floor of the Boston Athenaeum and most of its initial collection came from the Athenæum's Art Gallery. Francis Davis Millet, a local artist, was instrumental in starting the Art School affiliated with the museum, and in appointing Emil Otto Grundmann as its first director. In 1876, the museum moved to a highly ornamented brick Gothic Revival building designed by John Hubbard Sturgis and Charles Brigham, noted for its massed architectural terracotta. It was located in Copley Square at Dartmouth and St. James Streets.[3] It was built almost entirely of brick and terracotta, which was imported from England, with some stone about its base. After the MFA moved out in 1907, this original building was demolished, and the Copley Plaza Hotel (now the Fairmont Copley Plaza) replaced it in 1912. Wikipedia

This museum is not for the light of heart. With arts from around the globe, this museum will take a full day if you stop and admire/read every placard. 3 floors span the massive location with a lunch restaurant located close to the middle. Bring your walking shoes, a 60gb SD card and be ready to learn and be inspired by the massive collection of fine arts and history.

The MFA is amazing. We've been members for a few years now and love popping in for an hour or two and exploring a different room or two. My 5 year old is just now reaching an age where she loves to interact with the art by examining and trying to draw what she sees. The space is warm and welcoming and there's always something new and fantastic to see

I am a member of the MFA it is through the park behind my apartment..It is ever changing offers studio and degree classes.. The art is amazing, the restaurants are all wonderful.. The outside garden is peaceful...We are so lucky to have an amazing museum right in our backyard!

I don’t usually visit museums, but the wife and I decided to give the MFA a shot on a recent trip and loved it. From the architecture of the building to the amazing sculptures and paintings from various cultures and times, we were quite entertained. It was too bad the Mummies exhibit was under renovation, but it gives us a reason to go back. The only thing that struck me was the lack of Central and South American art.

Wonderful exhibits that are constantly changing. It's worth getting the membership card. You can go every month and never get bored. Always lots of new exhibits to see. Cafe in the atrium has great food and fast service so you can enjoy the entire day at the museum without ever leaving.

What an amazing museum. Regardless of whether you like fine European art or more contemporary styles, you will fine something that suits your fancy. I had the pleasure of being able to see the Hyman Bloom exhibit, which was stunning and chilling. I went with a medium sized group, and we all had different favorites, and left with a story to tell of the beautiful pieces we saw.

This is an incredibly well appointed, well run museum. A huge collection of artifacts from all over the world and across the entire breadth of human history. And the restaurants are even fantastic. There's not a whole lot more you can ask of a museum. When you can spend an entire day at a museum and not take everything in yet still see more than you expected, it's a win.

Visited the Museum of Fine Arts during the Lunar New Year Celebration with free admission. The long line of several hundred people waiting to get in moved rather quickly. Inside it was very spacious and didn't seem crowded at all. The exhibits just go on and on! It can be a bit overwhelming so take your time.

This is my favorite museum in Boston, by far. I have always been a fan of classical art. Because the museum is so large, I always discover something new with each visit. I also appreciate the many cultural events hosted by the MFA.

Special mention of my tour guide - Carol who showed around the Museum in all its resplendent glory! She was patient, kind and super fun to walk around with. Waiting to return..

A-one of the best museums I've ever been to, definitely went beyond my expectations! Stunning collections, think London's V&A, British Museum and the National Gallery combined, the museum name doesn't really reflect its collections entirely. Spent many hours there, there's a lot to see!

(Translated by Google) It's basically free. So you can see your favorite works. MFA of Boston should be in "Must see" list of items regardless - if you are just visiting Boston for a few days or living here for awhile. I would definitely recommend to be here once in a few years (or as soon as anything interesting displaying there for you). Parking sometimes can be tricky - but I was able to find a spot every time I went there. Also consider to use ground transportation.

Made reservations for both unparalleled exhibitions of Monet and Basquiat. Apparently, one hour time frame is not enough to observe and appreciate every piece of works in the exhibition. Much credit for the safety measures applied by the museum staff from entrance to each gallery inside. The gift shop was a bit crowded given the limited amount of space, could apply population control at the entrance as well.

I spent many, many hours here as a student and it is one of my favorite museums in the world, and in one of the most magnificent buildings! I’ll preface by saying the traveling exhibits are normally incredible. I’ve seen Houkusai, Samurai armours, Goya, and more all pass through! The mainstay artworks are as impressive. The Egyptian collection is rivaled only by the Met in NY, and more impressive given that this is the best collection of Giza works in the world and covers all Egyptian periods, having even the rare Roman mummies! The Assyrian and Babylonian works are rivaled only by the British Museum, and amazing to see. They have Maya works unrivaled anywhere in the world, and the American art is the best I’ve seen! The portraits of the Founding Fathers are worth the price of admission alone. George Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and more. Oh, and don’t miss Watson and the Shark!!! This list doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface. Much love for the MFA

There is a great selection of art related to Boston, which is great for tourists. Overall, the museum is expected, but nothing exceptional. The atmosphere itself is great, especially with a nice park nearby. The staff were friendly, but social distancing was not super strictly enforced as I would prefer. This place is very spacious and there are many different exhibits. However, most of the exhibits were closed despite having ample space to social distance and charging a full price ticket. The staff, however, was very rude. The staff required us to wait outside in the snow for over an hour before entering the museum. This is ridiculous especially when there is space to wait inside.

So far so good for more than 10 years of experience. Very family friendly place and kids are welcomed. It is very hard to see museums are open and embracing the children like this. Usually museums are very restrict and cold and have lots of rules... I highly compliment about this place for that reason. That they are not like that. Somewhat mild and gentle towards kids. 👏🏻 They have small cafe to relax any time which I like about this place as well. One thing about this place, direction map!! . It is a bit complicated map that I still have some confusion about where to go... it is like a big circle maze to find where you have to go. It is fun but when you are tired or have to go to restroom with your child, it is kind of panic situation.

One of the best museum i have visited. Located in “Museum Road,” off Umuahia-Uzuakoli road, Umuahia Abia State. The National War Museum is sited at the last administrative capital of the Biafran nation after the fall of Enugu in 1967. It has the two bunkers which housed the Voice of Biafra (V.O.B.), Biafra’s major news outlet to the outside world and the Ojukwu Bunker, the subterranean seat of the Biafran Government. The Museum is considered as a memorials to the soldiers, civilians and all other casualties of war and conflicts in Nigeria, particularly the Nigerian Civil War. To get some insights on Nigeria Biafra war, this is a place to visit.

The National War Museum in Umuahia was established in 1985. It was commissioned for the purpose of preserving Nigerian war efforts through the ages for posterity. The museum holds relics from the long civil war fought to counter the secession of Biafra from Nigeria. The museum's location was chosen for two reasons; the first was the significance of the city as the second capital of 'Biafra' after the fall of Enugu. It was also chosen because Umuahia served as home to the Ojukwu Bunker which was a base for strategic Biafran meetings.

Not much to see and learn from. With all the history retold as folk tales in a country rich and diverse in culture one would think in a national museum will be a great display of history. That when one is walking through it will feel like one is going through a canvass lens of the past. Shame to a country of people that prides itself on culture, tribe, ethnicity and religion without preserving its history.

The exhibits here were amazing and the staff was great. The only suggestion I would make would be that the gift shop should be overhauled. There's a lot of items that had little to do with the actual exhibits with the exception to the Monet section. I thought it would be nice to have items that were replicated from the exhibits we saw. Otherwise an excellent experience well worth the price of admission

Purchased tickets months ago for the Monet exhibit. The MFA closed its doors a day before my scheduled visit due to COVID19. They pleaded guests to donate the ticket sale instead of refunding. I opted for the refund as I wanted to repurchase tickets when they reopened. I purchased tickets for a new date. Full disclosure: absolutely nowhere on the ticket does it state that you cannot enter the museum (general admission) until your ticketed time slot. Nowhere on the confirmation email with the tickets does it state that you cannot enter the museum until your ticket time slot. Reading their website on Visit and other tabs: nowhere does it state that you cannot enter the museum until your ticketed time slot. Not to mention their staff is not easily accessible by phone if you had such questions. So given that I assumed you can enter the museum general admission AT THE TIME THAT THEY OPEN and then ENTER THE EXHIBIT AT THE TICKETED TIME SLOT I PURCHASED, I arrived on time to enter the museum when they opened. I paid for parking and waited outside in the cold (left the jackets in the car as they have closed their coat check and do not offer lockers) only to be told I cannot enter the museum at ALL until my ticketed time slot. I asked for a refund for the hour of parking that I wasted arriving on time, and a supervisor was very argumentative with me saying that these terms were listed somewhere on the website (of course he couldn't tell me where). Every question I asked was met with the same response and he showed no compassion or empathy. The MFA has done a very POOR job communicating these terms to their paying customers with whom they frequently request donations from. This whole experience left a very bad taste in my mouth. The worst part is that I wasted an hour parking on a block where it's a 4 hour max (I paid for the 4 hours up front). Parking is hard to come by in this area of Boston. So now I've wasted a whole hour of parking where I could have been seeing the museum that I paid to enter. I attempted to call the ticketing center of MFA and was argued with by the woman working ticketing sales saying that she didn't think I should receive a refund because my ticket was in an hour, and again stating "these terms are listed somewhere on the website" but not telling me where. If these terms are against the norm, they should be over-communicated to guests. Not under-communicated.

This museum is really one of the best in Boston. You'll get to see an amazing collection of art from all over the world. You could spend hours and hours in this museum. There is a very pretty and bright atrium that is perfect to stop for lunch or coffee while exploring. All in all, my experience was great here, especially if you're interested to history.

This place is just magical. I'm not sure there is anywhere else in the world that you can find a rainforest, natural history museum, aquarium and planetarium all under one roof. Not to mention the gorgeous park and world renown art museum across the way. This museum makes me proud to live in Los Angeles, CA

The flow of this museum is not great. I always felt like I’m missing another room, and we could never figure out where the entrances to the exhibits were as we always found ourselves at the “wrong way” entrances. The art itself was lovely though. Need to book tickets beforehand during these COVID times but no option for free student tickets! Cafeteria and one of the bookstores were open. Closes quite early at 5pm

If you want to know the past of human civilization, Boston Museum of Fine Arts is a great place to go. Even with current situation this place has its doors opened to the visitors. Egyptian exhibition is unbelievable! The art of Americas is highly educational. I would definitely go there again and again!

timeless art! free for students and everyone on certain days after a certain time. They have discounts if you're a veteran! :) and also if you are with a certain bank, I think it was American express, I can't remember for sure since I haven't been here since covid!

Nice museum and exhibits. Just poor flow and signage , hard to find exhibits you are looking for. With Covid book before you go , tickets are limited and timed.

I had a blast. It was the anniversary of MFA first opening. They allowed us and one other person, to get one year membership in that honor. I and my friends went together. After covid lockdown, that extended the free year was evened until September '21. Thank you MFA. 😊👍🏼

Came from NYC to MFA. We are so happy to see that it has reopened. What a wonderful and educational place to visit. We are definitely impressed. They have Picassos, Ruebens, Turner, Combs, Velasquez, Renoir, Manets...the list of Masters goes on and on. So much to see! MFA has a very nice café and seating area. Its got a great atmosphere and its so clean. Everything is elegant and placed with care. I cant wait to come back next time we are in Boston

(Translated by Google) For some reason, many treasures from all over the world are gathered here. In particular, Impressionists and Buddhist statues should be appreciated once in a lifetime. National treasure class is available. It is also impressive that the staff are friendly, fun, and proud to work. Due to Covid, there is only one simple cafe available, so be careful as it is crowded.

Well worth the entry fee, as we spent hours enjoying the museum and still didn’t get to everything! The cafe in the courtyard is gorgeous with the glass walls and the Chihuly sculpture. There’s also a garden courtyard to sit outside and read or relax during your time at the museum.

Spectacular, massive. Plan an entire day maybe two if you're looking to see everything. Do not have enough good to say about this place! Went here with the misses and only saw about 1/5 of what this place has to offer. Clean inside and out, displays are amazing and informative. I'd give 6 stars if I could, can't wait to come back with the kids!

Best museum in Boston. Very wide variety of paintings and sculptures and... even musical instruments. Usually some pretty cool modern art exhibits and even the gazebo and entrances and lobby and.. everything is really well done and pretty. I’d expect to spend at least 2-3 hours there to do it right.

This was hands down the BEST fine art museum I've ever been to. It's close to the train station so it's easy to get to, it has a huge collection of impressionist painters, and the sheer amount of what you can see here is impressive. Oh and I finally got to see a Monet painting in person which was frankly a religious experience 😂

I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful museum nearby. There is so much stunning work here but my favorite is the ancient art from Egypt and Sumer. I feel energized after visiting. Parking was pretty expensive in a nearby garage, but it had plenty of space.

They sell tickets at the front door but allocate time to lineup. If you are visiting on weekends, do it before noon. After noon line gets larger and larger. You’ll need a full day if you’d like to see everything. However, it can be exhausting. There are some areas where you can sit if you need to rest. Great experience, lots of exhibitions from Egypt, Americas, Asian… spectacular! You also need to lineup to enter the cafeteria. Food is bit overpriced, but ambiance and service worth the extra bucks. Parking in the back is plenty, so, no worries there. Parking Max rate is $30. Credit of some photos: @lifetopixels809

I am in love with this place. They have so many artifacts from Egypt which is difficult to fathom. My favorite as of right now is their Byzantine empire exhibit. That altar piece is breath taking. The Roman and Greek areas are fascinating too. There is even an ancient Asian history area which was amazing.

Very disappointing visit. We had been members for over 30 years. The museum is not as nice as used to be 15-20 years ago. Big part of the museum is closed for various reasons most of the time. Museum started about 10-12 years ago to add more and more space for contemporary art. Why? There is a contemporary art museum in Boston. Second: it is incredible ugly selection all the time. Contemporary art it can be beautiful but not the one presented at MFA. The museum allocated more and more space to this wired- ugly contemporary collection which depleted museum of the space of real art: for example the Japanese swords collection not seen in a very long time. How about the extensive collection of American furniture: currently are few pieces on display. Had not seen in years Dance of Bougival by Renoir. Where are the impressionist paintings? Corridors, rotundas and new visitor center do not have any more statues and paintings of if they have are very few. Where are the flowers arrangements we used to see around? The big impressive rooms are mostly empty. Large entrances are missing art of any kind. The contemporary exhibition on 1st floor is dark with lots of space empty-no one was there. The only place busy in the museum was the Turner exhibition. So you can see how much people crave real art. My suggestion is that the director of museum does more surveys of visitor, bring real art back from storage and take a walk more often in museum. Since the new space addition, the museum has less art presented then used to have before. The main staircase is looking dilapidated, abandoned: used to have wonderful marble sculptures. Those were replaced by Chinese urn vases few years ago- which in my opinion it is not a pleasant way to greet people. Bring back the beautiful statues placed on stairs landing museum had before. Currently the stairs landing do not display anything. Museum staff we seen around and asked question does not know the museum and cannot gives any useful information. I really hope the management of the museum will take a serious look at how used to the museum and how it is now. Get rid of the depressive contemporary exhibition and bring back from deposit real art. This is what people come to see.

Wow. One of the best art museums I have ever been to in the U.S. Very historical and it's definitely more than an art. It feels like a historical museum if you concentrate on their exhibits. Art pieces here are from literally all over the world. I had a beautiful time here. I will be back.

Included in the Boston Go City pass. Absolutely stunning. So many beautiful pieces new and old. I was unable to walk this day & the staff assisted with retrieving a wheelchair. Everything about this museum felt intentional and well thought out (except for the odd placement of the wheelchair accessibility door buttons). Overall, such a nice experience - I could have spent days here. If you visit, make sure to take a look at the beautiful benches between the ancient societies exhibit and the American exhibit right near the old 1700s door. Also, the baby head statues. 👶 Need a quiet place to relax? Take a break under the large shady trees out front on the lawn.

I don't know where to start. This museum is vast. So much to see! I could spend the majority of my day here. I don't even think I thoroughly covered all the floors. Different eras & dynasties are covered. Trust me, go & see the beauty for yourself. The mummies were my favorite 😍

  • 5/5 Karl H. 9 months ago on Google
The long wait was simply a matter of the Museum having free admission in honor of the Juneteenth Holiday, and so many folks coming to the Museum that morning. The Museum did a good job of moving the line at a good pace. The MFA is always a great place to visit. I should recommend buying tickets in advance only if there's a special exhibit you wish to see, as space may be limited.

This is a huge and incredible museum. I cant believe we took more than 5 hours to see each and every corner of the museum. Amazing artworks and beautiful collections from all parts of the continents. We went on a weekend and we parked our car 1.5 miles away from the museum as you would not find any parking nearby.

  • 4/5 Lina G. 9 months ago on Google
The architecture and of course, the art itself is absolutely stunning. On the busiest days the line for admission will stretch around the block, so it may be a good idea to arrive early if you want to take everything in.

Absolutely beautiful art museum. We went here on a rainy afternoon and was transported through time. We spent 5 hours exploring. While the Egyptian section was my favorite, there was just so much to see, and there was something for everyone.

Huge collections. Helpful, friendly staff. Tickets available on site or online. Highly recommend! Easy to get to via T, stop is almost across the street. Food available but we didn’t partake. Changing exhibits, something for everyone; from Egyptian mummies to European masters.

Large collection of fine art, very well curated, displayed, and maintained. You can buy tickets at the door, but you can also buy it online if you want to skip the queues. Expect the whole or half day if you want to savor the whole section.

It was enjoyable to roam around the museum for half a day. There is an eclectic selection of art and relics from all parts of the world in all the different eras so it's does feel a little overwhelming and confusing at times. All in all, it was a good experience.

Went with my college-aged artist daughter and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent. It's great Tha MFA has a program for students get in free by presenting their student ID and email. We spent most of our short time with the Impressionists but they also had an impressive musical instrument exhibit. You could spend days here though our short visit was also worth the effort.
