Update 5/2021 - after moving, this place somehow managed to get worse. See my review on Victory - and I can't believe I'm saying this - but you're better off going there. The owner is completely checked out. Most everything is from a can (including the artichokes in the antipasti, or stale meat plate as it should be called - see the photo with the prosciutto that looks like it sat out all day) and the Vitello Piccata had so much salt I had to spit it out. When we asked the owner so taste it he had the nerve to say "I don't need to taste it, I know how it should taste". What? BTW - see the owner's response to my prior review and that's all you need to know about this place. --- Too expensive for both the quality, authenticity, and portion sizes. I don't know how anyone can give this place 5 stars - but, since the reviewers who did also gave "Buckingham Fountain" five stars - maybe you should try their Italian food :) It's too bad because the service is pretty good, but they are clearly only making the attempt because overpriced food means over-tipping. If you want real Italian, don't eat in Oak Park. Go downtown.

The restaurant is cute, the staff was great, had a reservation mishap, but they took care of it without any issues. The food was not what was expected. I had read the reviews which were mostly complaints about the food but I was told, the food was good, well, the complaints were very true, and I was so disappointed spent lots of money for a mediocre meal, who over cooks asparagus...... I do not recommend this restaurant... hope they improve. Cute location and staff.

I have been here a few times and I am always so delighted with my order! The pasta dishes taste so fresh and authentic. The restaurant feels intimate and is a good place for a date night.

Busy Saturday night the place was empty, uh oh. But I'll try to be fair. Smelled of bleach but that just means it's clean. I can only judge on the 1 dish I ordered. Veal marsala. Very thinly prepared and very little portion put onto a cold plate. Thus was served cold. Ok, no problem they promptly heated it up. Nice hot pasta under it would help make this dish a bit , more.... There was a dish of pasta with red sauce served with it bit seemed out of place. I did see the owner but who am I to criticize a man who's life is invested in this. He won't want to hear me. This is what he deems his best effort for his customer. Perhaps he might think I need to be educated on what is a properly prepared veal marsala. But here's the thing, I won't be back. I sorry because I really appreciate a man so devoted to to running that restaurant and providing income for his employees. I know good meals can be had there but with so many places to eat I won't ever find out. Portion sizes being so small makes me wonder if they are trying to save on costs. The problem is if your customer leaves thinking there should been a bit more on the plate they won't come back. So you saved a bit but lost future income. And no, I'm not expecting olive garden endless pasta, just fill the plate. I'm sorry, to the owner, for this harsh review because I know this place is your life and you can say I'm nuts but the truth is I won't be back. Just think about it why do you think your place wasn't full of people. Good luck sir.

Great Night Out in Oak Park! La Notte is indeed a gem. For me this quaint spot on Marion Street checks all of the boxes. Fresh, Authentic, Family Owned and Managed, Passionate, Engaged, Flexible. The wine list was wonderful. The Limoncello a delight, the cannoli a dream. The amazing attention to detail is rarely found in the business these days and it was truly appreciated during our evening. The Italian sea bass was plated table side and not a single bone remained. It was perfectly complimented by the grilled vegetables and prepared to order pasta. I am told it is made from scratch daily. (it sure tasted like it was) If you don't see it on the menu.. ask and they will prepare it for you! I am looking forward to my future experiences at La Notte in Oak Park!

🤢🤮 i had chicken & shrimp fettuccine… the shrimp tastes like it’s straight out the ocean, i told the Italian man & he goes “ well its seafood” like no, seafood that’s cooked correctly would not smell so strong ! The Chicken had a burnt taste. My lemon drop was good, and cute atmosphere… but no, not worth the money… i like poor Phil’s next door, all of their food was good

Came to celebrate our 20th anniversary, included it on our reservation, but it was not acknowledged. The food was mediocre at best, then after paying and leaving we got a phone call that they screwed up our bill because the waitress was one of those cool waitresses who doesn't write things down, and items had been left off so I had to call them and make an extra payment to fix their mistake. Also the place was 3 quarters empty, so it's not like they had an excuse for such a dumb mistake. Finally the floor was filthy under our table

Gorgeous, gorgeous restaurant. Giovanni is sweet, kind, caring and treats all of his customers as family. This was the best Italian food I’ve ever had in my life. Even better than anything I’ve had back home. (NJ 😉) It’s legitimate, and everything was perfect- even the salad. The bolognese was to die for, I’ll never forget it! Make sure you order the special tulip dessert, as well. It’s a lovely little chocolate tulip with tiramisu inside. You will not be disappointed! I sincerely hope I can come back one day. -Angela

LA Notte has been a consistency of superb food and service in all 3 of its locations. The move to the Carlton has only served to increase the ambience that accompanies great food and service.

DO NOT ORDER ONLINE - THEY ARE OVERCHARGING YOU Went to order off GrubHub for this restaurant and they are significantly up-charging the price of food. Risotto 4 Formaggi is $29.00 on their regular menu and $35 online... getting a side of chicken for it in the restaurant is $6 - online it is $8. You are receiving the same amount of food (if less - because of the sizes of the containers). I don't understand why they are charging more for it when GrubHub also tacks on fees. Most items on the menu are like this. Felt incredibly ripped off for food that is decent at best. I understand they likely must pay GrubHub to be hosted on their website - but a price difference of $6 for one food item is wild.

The veal dishes basically all tasted the same even though we ordered different dishes. Also if there were 4 oz of veal on my plate that was a lot. I found the portions very small. Also they said us next to a door that they kept leaving open which made our food cold and us very chilled. The service was great but they can improve. I've been to Little Mom and Pop Italian restaurants that were better.

Lovely place! Delicious home made from scratch pastas. Wonderful burrata appetizer accompanied with grilled artichokes and prosciutto. Tulip desert is fantastic.

We went here for a mother's day dinner, and my skirt steak was delicious!! Great ambiance and good service. The fried calamari was also good, and the wine bottles are very reasonably priced. The rest of my group seemed to like their meals as well. Would definitely come back here!

Excellent food and excellent service. We stayed at the Carleton Hotel and ate here 3 times in 4 days. We had an Italian in our group who said it was the best Italian food she has had in her 7 years here in the US. I would highly recommend you not only eat here but take some time to talk with the owner Gio. He is an extremely interesting, nice and accommodating owner. Next time we come to town we will stay at the Carleton because of the La Notte restaurant!

This place is a gem! The Oyster Rockefeller was hands down the best I've ever had including some of the most expensive seafood places in northern Illinois. The pesto that is a SIDE to the Burrata is out of this world. The Calamari was done perfectly and somehow maintains being dense and lite at the same time. The Baked Cavatelli is a lot like the calamari, dense but still light and airy. The same with the gnocchi. This isn't your normal super dense, thick, pre-packaged pasta. Someone made this with love. The ricotta baked in sauce with the cavatelli is a perfect balance of flavors and textures. The sausage as a side is amazing and has a flavor profile I haven't had since I was a little kid. I really can't say enough about this restaurant. You can close your eyes and almost picture Nona in the kitchen listening to some Sinatra while hanging her pasta to dry. That's how you know a place is special and great. When you can taste an entire scene of the kitchen in your mind as you chew. Well done, La Notte. Very very well done!

Old fashioned here is flavorless and so was the mussel ravioli sauce. I wanted to like this place since servers were mostly nice and the atmosphere was nice, but the food was bland and the bartender took the check book before I was even done. That seems unusual...

Super friendly staff with quick service! Drinks were delicious and so was the food. We had the salmon with jalapeños and the 8 finger pasta. So good! Highly recommend this restaurant
