Doughboys Trail is wonderful, easy, and always has something to look at. Beautiful scenery on the whole trail. We really enjoyed our time here. The visitor center/ gift shop was really good for a state park too!

I would definitely recommend this state park. There was two great trails. One as soon as you get into the park and the other towards the back. I like the gift shop. Bought some shirts and they sell ice cream. The bathrooms were nice and clean as well. Only 11 bucks to get in for a day pass.

To date, this HAS to be my favorite state park to hike. The trails are wide, groomed very nicely, and easy to follow. The views are absolutely spectacular. I took over 120 photos in one visit! Next closest would be Devil's Lake, but that's over 4+ visits. The morning/ mid-morning sun was perfect for the views. Next time I hike Copper Falls, I want to go in Oct for more color. I bet it would be absolutely breathtaking. The only thing I didn't like is the observation tower. The top of the tree canopy blocks any sort of view. I'm sure you can see quite a bit once all the leaves have fallen, but if there's a wind, it'll be COLD up there.

Howdy, nature enthusiasts! I recently had the pleasure of exploring the breathtaking Copper Falls State Park in Mellen, Wisconsin, and let me tell ya, it was a true wilderness wonderland. This park offers a feast for the senses, with its stunning waterfalls, lush forests, and rugged beauty. The hiking trails were well-maintained and provided a variety of difficulty levels, catering to both beginners and seasoned adventurers. As I trekked through the park, I was in awe of the cascading waterfalls, their roaring sounds filling the air and creating a serene ambiance. The scenic overlooks offered breathtaking views, allowing me to truly appreciate the natural splendor of the area. The park facilities were clean and well-kept, with picnic areas and camping grounds that made it a perfect spot for a family outing or a weekend getaway. The park rangers were knowledgeable and friendly, providing helpful information about the park's history and guiding me to the best spots for wildlife sightings. If you're looking to immerse yourself in the beauty of nature, Copper Falls State Park is an absolute must-visit. So lace up those hiking boots, grab your camera, and prepare to be mesmerized by the wonders of the Wisconsin wilderness. Happy trails! 🌲🏞️💦

Love the two mile walk, there are lots of stars on the main trail. But viewing the falls are handicap accessible. There are other trails that are fun too, where you can get very close to the river, but the trails are not as well kept as the copper falls trail. Campsights are spacious and great for a base to explore the state park.

terrific spot to photograph and admire waterfalls. Red granite falls were my personal favorite, as you can get close to the water. mosquitoes can be a bit aggressive / thick but nothing that long sleeves and lots of bug spray can't handle. personally I bring a neck gator for those moments when they get really bad to cover my mouth and nose.

Beautiful state park, the trails to the falls are fairly easy and not too long. The hike up to the observation tower is steep, and the view in the summer is blocked by all the trees. Looking forward to trying it again in the spring or fall when the foliage isn’t so dense.

The views are absolutely beautiful. The mosquitos are horrible. Even though they are everywhere. MAKE SURE YOU BRING BUG SPRAY. Do not bring a wagon or stroller. There are stairs. The gift shop opens at 10a to 5p. Definitely would do it again. Just would make sure not to bring a stroller and to make sure we had big spray on us the whole time. Beautiful place to take a hike and have a picnic. Playground is right off of the parking lot allowing easy access.

This is the ideal state park. It's small but scenic and not overrun with people. Nice swimming beach. We camped for one night in a pretty wooded area. I was pleasantly surprised with how clean the shower building was. Well worth visiting to camp or a day trip.

We had a gorgeous day to walk this amazing state park. The two separate falls were great. Many stairs to climb throughout, but I recently had total knee replacement surgery and I took my time. Gorgeous scenery with many walkways. Posted some pictures for your enjoyment.

Beautiful place to hike, walk and see gorgeous waterfalls. Prepare for mosquitos in the summer. My mom, in her early sixties in average shape, did quite well on the trails. There are plenty of view points, one even had a perch that was specifically made to place your phone to take a (timed) selfie. Paths are clearly marked.

This is a beautiful park. Main trail that takes you around the falls is about 1.5 miles. It has some challenges with all the up and down with the terrain but completely worth it.

Very nice campground! Plenty of space between camp sites and very quiet. Helpful and friendly staff too! Definitely worth the visit. Hiking trails to the falls are wide and well maintained.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL, scenic trails and friendly staff made this a ( nearly 2 mile ) walk to remember. Even though it was almost 95°F while we were there in early September of 2023, my wife and I wouldn't have missed this for the world. Be sure to bring something to drink with you if it's a hot day ( or stop at the concession stand afterwards )...and also be advised that there are a rather large number of steps that you'll need to traverse during your walk. One other thing: don't bring any animals with you because they're not allowed on the trails; you may personally think that this is harsh, but for those of us with allergies and / or asthma stemming from animal dander, this is a definite plus. On top of that, it's nice not to have to watch every step because you're afraid that you might otherwise wind up with something unpleasant on your shoe. It took us between 1-1/2 and 2 hours to complete the 1.7 mile walk, some of which was caused by me snapping an excessive amount of pictures and recording a number of video clips. If we have the chance to return, I'm sure that we will...but it'll likely be in the fall when the temperature has dropped to something a bit easier to tolerate. 😉

I wanted to ride the northern edge of MI along Lake Superior on a motorcycle. It was raining so much. 195 miles to the harbor. All rain. 190 miles back, mostly rain. 2 different routes. It was still a great ride with so much to see, even in the truck. Maybe next year on the bike. Copper Harbor is definitely a tourist haven!

Went camping for an extended weekend with my dog. I was unaware that dogs were not allowed on trails of certain areas in the park. Had this been more clearly stated online, I probably would have chosen a different destination for my trip. Still a nice park with some good views.

Copper Falls State Park has to be one of the best State Parks in WI. The campsites were large and easily assemble. Hiking trails and the falls were well maintained, nothing crazy, but really good views of the falls. 4 1/2 hours from Madison, can’t wait to get back up to Northern WI!

Bring bug spray!! Lots of it and west long sleeves and pants if possible. Mosquitoes are horrendous. There's a little shop on your way in, but we didn't go in because it was busy. There are so many breathtaking views! The trails are extremely well maintained. There are some difficult spots.... stairs. But for the most part, it was smooth going hike. There was quite a few people but it didn't seem crowded. The rocks!!! I'm a rock girl and the rocks had me amazed. I look for them like seashells. Some really pretty ones. There are a lot of amenities at this state park. We were here mainly for the waterfalls. It was one of multiple that we visited this day.

A gem of a Wisconsin State Park with well-maintained trails, friendly staff, classic facilities, a well-stocked concession shop, and abundant natural beauty. Basalt rock waterfalls that change over time with views from many vantage points are a treat for visitors old and young, coming from both far and near. Worth visiting again. Campgrounds looked spacious and quiet, though we did not camp. North sites electric, south mostly tents.

An amazingly beautiful piece of nature. (Winter visit). We chose to winter camp in order to be close to local ski areas. The park is gorgeous in the winter and incredibly peaceful. The snow muffles the outside sounds, and there are very few people around, so it is like having your own park. There are 6 camp sites that are plowed in winter to allow camping. Electric service is available at each. Pit toilets are kept open. Keep in mind that while the roads are plowed that there are snow banks that limit the width of the roads and sites. It makes backing into the campsites challenging. Single vehicles are fine. Our travel trailer took some work. Consider the size of your rig and orientation of the site when reserving. Huge shout out to the superintendent, Bob, who helped us get into our site, after dark, in a snowstorm, on a Saturday night. Staff like that turn a possibly bad situation into a fond memory.

On our way back to Illinois/home from Washburn we stopped at Copper Falls because my brother loved it! I'm so glad we did. We did the dough boy trail. And It was absolutely beautiful!! I wish we could've spent the whole day there. But it was great to atleast stop and take a few miles walk. Highly recommend ❤️❤️

The views at this park are absolutely stunning! My husband and I hiked over three miles. We enjoyed the beautiful waterfalls. We saw Brownstone Falls and Copper Falls. Later on we enjoyed the Candlelight Hike on the Red Granite Falls Trail. We paid $8.00 for a day pass to get into the park. They offer a senior citizen discount so I asked about a veteran’s discount, but they do not offer one. Although the lady in the office asked my husband if he was a veteran that was 75% disabled or greater. I really don’t know if they offer an active service member or veteran’s discount.

Probably the most beautiful park in the state, but bring something to protect you from the mosquitos. This year is probably the worst year in history for them, and no amount of DEET will protect you. Those people with the mosquito netting are the only ones safe right now.

Absolutely breathtaking. The falls are gorgeous. I loved all the tall trees, mossy ground cover and pine needle covered trails. Such a peaceful place to reset away from the world. Wildlife galore, saw a gorgeous firey sunset. I can't wait to return in a spring or summer setting. It's sure to have it's own unique charm then, as it has in the fall. Great experience.

A beautiful spot tucked away in the Northern Wisconsin wilderness. A few quick trails lead to breathtaking falls carving their way through the forest. High quality bug spray is downright required, as globulous swarms of mosquitos will carry away your firstborn with ease if given the opportunity.

This is a fantastic park! Several areas with spectacular views, wide trails, lots of picturesque places to stop and take in the amazing sights. There is plenty of parking. Quite a few bathrooms spread out in different areas. Playgrounds, shelters, picnic tables, grills, a swimming beach, hiking trails, and lots of Pokestops and gyms for the Go players. There is a nice gift shop here that also has snacks like ice cream and candy, but no real food, unfortunately. The one downside here is the horrible swarms of mosquitoes. It's B A D. There are only two other places in the state we've been to that have this big of a mosquito problem. We used three different repellents and re-coated ourselves several times, but it did NOTHING to deter them. Stop for a moment to snap a picture, and you'll have 50 on you. That said, it is still well worth coming here. Mosquito bites fade, the memories will last a lifetime.

Late in October the first snow was starting and the sun was setting so I used my time the best I could and hiked high the doughboy trail down to the bridge that cross the river below Devil's Gate. This trail is extremely well maintained and the extra railings and sign make it very easy to traverse. I hope to come back and camp this park next year and explore the trail some more and get further down the Bad River and try my hand and rod for some brown, brook, and rainbow trout that are supposed to be in here. Over all they do a great job of balancing nature and ease of access. There is a big concession stand and covered pavilion area as well with a super cozy outdoor fireplace. I hope to see it in use and may just try again if this park is open in the winter as I am sure to looks incredible in the snow! Either way you will have a great time seeing the sights here just know that you do have to pay for day use even if you aren't camping and the way in to the place can be a bit of a challenge at times. But those are things to hardly complain about with what you will get to experience at the beautiful slice of rare nature in the Northern Wisconsin Area.
